C3-01 WiFi / WLAN & VoIP / SIP Question

Hello,
I am very interested in purchasing a C3-01, as I don't want a smart phone, but I like the advanced features this phone offers. Specifically, I want to make use of the VoIP SIP client that comes built in.
My question is this: I will be using VoIP / SIP on the WLAN (Wi-Fi) connection. In another post on this forum, I saw a user saying that Wi-Fi gets turned off automatically when the phone is locked.
So, does this mean that if I've got a VoIP account set up, and the C3-01 locks (either manually or automatically), that the WLAN will drop out and I won't be able to get incoming VoIP calls?
If this is how it works, this is a pretty major oversight, and I will look for something else.
Thanks

Yeah, Sadly Some Country still have the v05.68 as the latest firware, But the reason might be that the Firmware released in your Country may contain the fixes included in the Latest Firware for Our Country.
So thats ok, If Nokia Finds any fixes to be done then, they will release a new Firware Update for your Country. Be Rest Assured.
And Buy C3-01.
If I've helped in any way, a click upon the White star to the left would always be appreciated.
If however my answer also solves your problem clicking below " ACCEPT AS SOLUTION " it will benefit other users!

  • N8; How to set up SIP and make (WiFI & 3G)VOIP cal...

N8 only comes with SIP software and you need to download the the VoIP setting software at this link (use VoIP 3.1):
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
You can use the N8 web browser and load directly from the site to the phone.
    then go to:
    Menu>settings>connectivity>Admin.Settings>SIP settings
    option>New SIP Profile>use default profile.
This window needs to be configured with your VoIP provider setting which may be found on their site or just do a search. I used the settings from my previous phone. I have Gizmo VoIP and will be using the setting for this service as an example to set up Wifi and 3G SIP setting
Profile Name> Gizmo, (assign the name of your provider e.g.. Gizmo, Google talk, etc)
    Service profile> IETF
    Default Destination> WiFi
Public username: sip:[email protected] (Input your VoIP provider info)
    Use compression> No
    Registration> When needed
    Use security> No
    Then goto Proxy server:
Proxy server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider proxy address setting)
Realm> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter your password0
    Allow loose routing> Yes
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Go back and then go to Registrar server:
Registrar server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider Registrar setting)
Real> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter password)
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Again folks above is just an example. You must use your provider settings.
Then when you are done go back to:
Admin setting> Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service> choose the SIP profile shown, e.g.  Gizmo
This will configure the VoIP setting with the particular SIP profile. It will also add a SIP Tel profile Pane in your Contacts folder, Internet call option to the contacts list and Phone log.
Now go to the SIP pane in Contacts folder, sign in and then make a test call . To make a SIP call just go to a contact and choose Internet call. If you configured everything correctly, it should work and you are done.
For 3G connection, follow above direction and create new SIP profile with new name (e.g. Gizmo (3G). All settings are same except:
    Default destination>Internet
Then set up the VoIP setting with the new SIP profile by going to:
Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>Create new service> Choose the SIP profile you just configured e.g. Gizmo (3G)
    Then:
    Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>VoIP service>choose the 3G SIP profile, e.g. Gizmo (3G)>Profile setting>>>>>
Go down to AWCDMA> set it to "on"
Exit out of everything. Go to SIP (3G) pane in the Contacts folder. Sign in and make test call.
I have configured many Mobile phones and found the N8 somewhat touchy. But, the sound quality on Gizmo VoIP using both WiFi and 3G was great, no echo or any problems.
    Useful hints:
If it does not connect or make a call, you need to check the SIP setting for any error. If you find any problem there, you must first remove the SIP profile in the Net setting. Then go to the SIP setting and correct the problem. Double check everyting, go back to Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service and add the SIP profile. The reason is that when you Configure a VoIP setting with a SIP profile, the SIP info is permanently loaded and will not change even if you make any change in the SIP profile. So any time you change anything in the SIP profile (even the password) you always need to remove, make correction and then reload the corrected SIP profile to the VoIP setting.
There are also few Mobile service providers who have blocked VoIP on their data network service. So, just check with your service provider. In US both AT&T and TMobile have open network for VoIP.

    Hi
I have an unbranded N8 and am trying to get VoipCheap to work.
I have tried to set up VOIP but still facing a problem or 2 so please assist me.
I have an active account via VoipCheap.com with a profile name and password and it is verified.
1/ When I look in Admin Settings / Sip Settings it shows VoipCheap with "not registered" under it..why?
My settings when I click on VoipCheap are:
    profile name: VoipCheap
    Service profile: IETF
    Default destination: Internet
    Public username: sip:[email protected]
    Use compression: No
    Registration: When needed
    Use security: No
    Proxy server address: sip:sip.VoipCheap.com
    Realm: VoipCheap.com
    Username: [email protected]
Password:  ****** (I have entered my password)
    Allow loose routing: Yes
    Transport type: UDP
    Port: 5060
Registrar server settings same as Proxy server settings.
I have also gone to Net settings / VoipCheap settings and see:
    Username:  sip:[email protected]
Password: ***** (I have entered my password)
    Default service: No
    Service connectivity: Internet
In Contacts I have a VoipCheap tab with the icon for internet calling and it says
    Sign in (example)
but when I click on this it shows connecting (via my internet connection) but hangs there - it does not seem to connect............
what do you think I am doing wrong, please ????????????????

  • Nokai E75 VOIP/SIP Setup for WLAN: sipgate.de - ...

Had problems setting up the VOIP Client on my E75 for the SIP Provider sipgate.de: Test calls to their 10005 or 10000 number worked without problems, but for outgoing calls to normal landline numbers no audio stream was connected through (ringback was ok):
    Setup:
       - sipgate.de configured via MENU -> CTRL PANEL -> NET SETTINGS -> Download
       - SIP Profile (user/password etc. )configured based on customized config from sipgate.com
       - WLAN (linksys or AVM-Fritzbox)
       - Provider  Tcom/Avego  or 1&1
After trying lot of different things & settings it finally turned out that deleting the NAT FW settings fixed the issue:
       - MENU -> CTRL PANEL -> NET SETTINGS -> ADVANCED VOIP SETTINGS
       - NAT FIREWALL SETTINGS -> DOMAIN PARAMETERS
           -> select sipgate.de
           -> OPTIONS -> DELETE PARAMETERS
if you don't have the "Advanced VOIP Settings" Menu, you need to load a special sip addon application. Documentation and application is available at
        forum.nokia.com
    Search for "SIP VOIP SETTINGS"
If the above tweak also works for other WLAN Router or even UMTS Settings, I don't know.
With regards to sipgate.de --> havn't used it yet a lot, but the good thing is it's not a standalone client, but as it's reusing the Nokia VOIP Client it nicely integrates into the phone (same contact list, button to choose internet vs. mobile dialing, ..
hope the above saves some people some time

Native VoIP/SIP is the main reason I was so pleased to switch to the E72 (I use voiptalk.org myself).
Until just over a year ago I had an N95, which also had built-in VoIP. I lost that feature when I "upgraded" to an N96 and then a 5800XM, but am pleased as Punch to have it again with the E72. It makes life so much easier having the same device acting as both mobile and "landline" (my entire phone setup at home is VoIP-based with Asterisk).

  • VoIP (SIP) configuration guide for Nokia 5800xm

hi.everybody i would like to ask how to configure this
VoIP (SIP) configuration for my n5800, because when i saw and follow this link http://www.elisanet.fi/craig/sipvoip/nokia_n97.html ,i only configure my SIP setting and not my net setting which i tried to find in my phone. can someone  help me find this Net setting in my handset and can you put a link on how to call from phone to phone using this "VoIP" and is this free of charge. thank..more power

Hi, don't have an answer to your question, but Skype for S60.5 was announced today, works fine, will give Skype to Skype calls free, and low cost calls to non Skype numbers, but both Skype or Voip will incur data charges if you don;t have a data plan !
    Good Luck
Skype.com/m with your phones browser will take you to Skype

  • Nokia 5800 VOIP SIP client that works!

I have just installed the V Phone VoIP SIP client onto my UK Nokia 5800, and it works very well, "straight out of the box". I have it set up to use my sipgate.co.uk account, and it registers via WiFi immediately, with good clear call quality. Sometimes there is a bit of echo, but generally the call is clean.
So here's a Nokia 5800 SIP VoIP application that does work - I thought that such a thing didn't exist. V Phone are an Australian outfit, found here: http://www.thevphone.biz/Products.html. I bought their Premium version for about £5.50 equivalent of Australian dollars, so it isn't expensive either.
Recommended (and I don't have anything to do with them, if you were wondering).
    Tom

Does it really work? My operator requires proxy. Is there an option in the settings to enter proxy server? I went on their website and saw there is only registrar, user and password. Also, when I try to purchase Premium Edition with G729 codec, I get an option to purchase V Phone - s60 - Standard Edition for 8.95 dollars. The price is really good but I wonder if it really works.

  • VOIP: SIP VoIP 3.1 Nokia Suite begins install, E71...

I have a Nokia E71 and would like to begin using our wifi to make calls, (our carrier signal is week/dropped calls/connection on-hold). When I try to install the file, SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_Symbian_3_v1_0_en, Nokia Suite begins the installation, says to continue on phone, phone pauses and then a red screen appears, "File Corrupted".
    Can you help?

    @oneofmarysboys
You are trying to install a version for Symbian S^3 devices, click on the blue upturned arrow head to reveal the other available versions of which you require SIP_VoIP_3x_Settings_v2.0_en.sis (164 kb).
Once installed you may like to look at this resource:http://mywebexperience.com/voip/sip-call-settings-for-e71-voip-calls-through-your-nokia-mobile/

  • TOIP/VOIP SIP on Nokia X, X+, XL ?

This is an usual feature on Nokia devices that have wifi and/or 3G, I mean even some basic S40 phones, except Microsft Windows Phone OS who needs a software but has unsupported STUN features that cannot be relayed through OS Notification System.
So basically on Windows Phone (including 8.1) you can't receive a call and your device would be notified in the background, would activated and app and would ring as a normal call. This is also true about an app run in the background, since it's frozen there... so this is a real pain.
There is no such problem on any foster Symbian S60/S^3 device, neither on most and even recent S40 and Asha phones.
This feature would be very usefull to receive a VOIP SIP (you know - the globall IP standard) call from any wifi connection and some time even over 3G (or 4G if the device has the capability).
Now, Android has an inner implementation of TOIP/VOIP SIP agregated to the standard phone calls (this is ususlly found in "Internet calls accounts" option, just like on Symbian devices. The Notification system isn't that great, needs maintained full connection (so sucks the battery) but however much better than the non existing Windows Phone feature. Not all the Android Smartphones have this standard feature implemented, but there are applications with full SIP support (not those only configuring the inner Android feature if present).
Where does the Nokia pkanteform 1.0 stand. I mean Nokia X, X+, XL.
The VOIP SIP is a most wanted feature, not only professional but quite common since the developpement of SIP phone lines including on ADSL home accounts.
Can I buy a Nokia XL (because of the 5Mpix CAM) for that feature or do I need to keep my Nokia C7 + Nokia E65 for both my personnal and office mobile lines, + my VOIP personnal line + my professional VOIP line ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This is VERY GOOD news.
If CSIPSimple works, it means Android VOIP/TOIP API through SIP protocole is preserved and supported into Nokia Android OS.
CSIPSimple is only some kind of interface to that protocole.
On the contrary Linphone is a full application with full inner protocole support, which is bad because not connected to the OS.
Good to know Nokia has it when many recent Android devices lacks it  (like Motorola Moto G with Android Kitkat 4.4 made by Google - sold only after that to Lenovo).
Can you tell if the G729  is present ?

  • WiFi (WLAN) problem - in the same room a iOS 5 device connects, iOS 6 not

    Hi all,
I won't say that it's a proof for the iOS 6 WiFi/WLAN problem. BUT, it's evident that my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 sees all WLAN-networks and connects - my new iPad with iOS 6 doesn't! And I'm using the two devices in the same room. In addition my new iPad didn't have connection problems before updating to iOS 6.
Apple Software Engineers - please help and release the next update to fix it

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Be careful about mixing Time Machine backups and other data on the TC's disk.  That will cause conflicts, sooner or later.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for an explanation and some possible workarounds.

  • Home Hub 3 Security exposure allowing VOIP (SIP) t...

OK its a bit tech but BT don't seem interested but it worries me!
I have a HH3 configured with with Firewall set to Default (to block unsolicited incomming traffic), DMZ disabled (so no default routing of inbound connections) and UnNP off (So no dynamic port opening stuff). Also, the internal DHCP server has been disabled and the internet network is not on the default IP range.
This configuration should block ALL inbound traffic. I.E. traffic that originates from the public Interenet. Packets that are replies to data sent out, will be allowed through.
I have an internal VOIP server running Asterisk which connects to SIPGate on the Internet and SIP phones in the house.
My Asterisk server is logging inbound SIP connections that have their source IP address as the Public IP address of the HH3. Somehow, inbound SIP connections are getting through the HH3 and then hitting my Asterisk server. The SIP connection then attempts to call an number in Israel (00972592653787) a few times (with different call prefixes). The Asterisk server is correctly configured to drop these calls. BUT it should never get them in the first place!
So the question is, why is the HH3 allowing these connections through in the first place?
And what else might it be letting in that I haven't spotted?
    PS - Latest firmware running 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type A) 29/12/12
Anybody seen this or know the reason?
I'll guess not, so just say hello so I know you've seen the post :-)
    Richard.

Part of a setup such as Asterix/SIPGate is the use of a STUN server.  The purpose of STUN is to enable incoming connections without the need for configuration of firewalls etc.  It is needed if you are to get any incoming calls, whether malicious or not.  It is only when a call arrives at Asterix that a decision can be made as to whether it is acceptable.  If you really don't need to accept any incoming calls to the server, you could remove the STUN configuration.

  • Internet (voip/SIP) calls on N97

    Hi,
I was using Internet calls feature on N95. On N97 the only thing what I was able to do is to define SIP profile. It is defined. I am able to register to the SIP server ... but no way to use this server for Internet Calls. I simply do not have possibility to select Internet call. I may select Voice or Video but not Internet as it was on N95. Any ideas?
    regards,

If you read the documentation that has been revised recently (yeah that is sneaky) you see alot of mentions of 'you may' or 'there might be' and somthing about a widget you might find that does not exist.  Basically if Nokia wants to enable this with SIP Voip Settings App (like they had for 3.x and 2.x) they could do so quite easily.
See the attached for a screen snap of the new documentation.
The question is are they going to do this, or am I moving on to another company that is semi rational and has better communication skills than a 1 year old.  I've been patient and silent since the day I unpacked this phone, but today I have lost patience with waiting for something i know they can enable in 2 minutes.

  • Beware the Security Update - How I fixed my WIFI problem and a question

First of all I have read the "Latest Update from 21 January is A Disaster" thread and I basically agree with Andrew is Stuck so please don't feel the need repeat any of the stuff about it is not a bug in the update etc etc and I should have a Super Duper clone to hand etc etc . I have read that stuff. You are probably right but they should write on the Security Update info panel - "Be Careful this could really ruin your day".
I am ****** off and stressed out and I need to rant and I am not looking for that kind of lecture - even if it is partially or wholly true. I need to feel positive by warning people the way I wish I had been warned!
NB I am near the end of a professional dance tour as Musical Director running music on Logic on my MBP and it has been working fantastic - not a single glitch in 6 weeks. I would never upgrade my OS or Logic in the middle of job like this BUT Security Updates have always seem like something you should install because they will protect the Mac or protect against any new viruses etc. I have never had a problem with them before. (THAT ATTITUDE WILL NOW CHANGE!!!)
This update has caused a lot of people a lot of problems (check out this forum) and it has caused me more real world problems than anything I have downloaded and installed from anywhere in the last 3 years. Thus it has nothing to do with Security!!! HOw any people does a Security Uodate have to goose before it becomes an unsatisfactory Security Update?
This security update suddenly stopped my WIFI working and put me in a real hole.
(I am sure you don't care but I have a meeting tomorrow morning that I needed to do 3 hours of prep for including looking at VIDEO online. And the Security Update has just put paid to that. )
After 3 hours I have just got WIfi back- here's how:
I repaired permissions twice with Disk Utility - no joy. I found I could get online when I booted in Safe Mode (and I could get online with my Iphone on the same WIFi setup) so I knew it was not the router - though I did switch the router on and off a few times,
When I initially ran Repair permissions there was loads of things needing repair. I ran it again and 2 remained:
usr/share/derby it keeps trying to repair
and one of the package contents of the ARDAgent.app (System>Library>CoreServices>RemoteManagement>ARDAgent.app>Contents>MacOS>ARDAg ent) had a warning attached that it in the Disk Utility Repair Permissions report that it had been modified.
So I restored ARDAgent.app from a Time Machine Back up and replaced the offending file when in Safe Mode (Restart with Shift held down). - using Ctrl Click to open the ARDAgent.app package contents.
This seemed to sort it all out for me.
I guess people need to look in their Disk Utility Repair Permissions reports and see if any esoteric system files have been goosed by the update and see if they can get them back - although if you don't know what you are doing this could make things worse......
    Anyway I DO have questions:
    If this hadn't of worked:
    1) Would reinstalling Snow Leopard from disks have upset my preferences, installs of Logic and Audio drivers and 3rd party application installs and the rest?
    - the main stressor when this happens is not trying to lose the whole day.
    2) Is there a way of just restoring the System from a Time Machine Backup or a SuperDuper clone or do you have to restore the whole state of the entire Hard Drive?
    Best
    Tommy Banana
PS I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

The fact that you saw no glitches while running Logic before applying the update means almost nothing because that uses only a small subset of system resources. Far more significant is that Safe Mode restored some missing functionality: because it disables non-essential items like user fonts, third party drivers, & so on, it points to problems in those areas.
Equally significant, the fact that there are relatively few reports of post-update problems among the several million Snow Leopard users points away from the update itself as the cause of your problems.
Separate & apart from that, it so happens that I'm a sound engineer/system designer/board operator with nearly 40 years of professional touring experience. FWIW, I never have & never will update the software of any system I must rely on professionally (whether it is running on a Mac, a PC, or dedicated hardware) unless & until I can thoroughly test it first and I have a trustworthy backup/recursion strategy to fall back on in case of problems.
I strongly suggest you learn from your unpleasant experience & do the same. I have had far fewer problems with Macs than with PC's, but nothing is 100% reliable to begin with. Changing the OS software part way through the tour is just asking for trouble, no matter how reliable that has been in the past. Even if the budget allows for nothing better than a stack of burned CD's & a couple of consumer grade CD players, no professional tour can afford to be without some fallback strategy in place. That should be self-evident & require no warning from Apple or anybody else.
