C3 Loss of memory....

Hello,
I have a Nokia C3 and the other day I turned the phone off and a few minutes later turned it back on.
When the phone has come back to life it appears that the phone memory has been wiped of all messages and settings. I have lost the communities application to name a few and I cannot access the internet.
All my contacts that were on the phone memory have gone and I am only left with what is left on the sim card and memory card. All the pre loaded ring tones have also disappeared and I am left with hardly any setting options compared to how it was before.
I have checked the memory status and it appears that there is 1.8Mb stored on it (including messages and gallery) however I cannot access what's on there.
I suspect that the phone may have gone into some sort of 'safe mode' however I do not know how to get it out. The lack of internet usage is the biggest issue I have at the minute.
Does anyone know how this happened and what I can do to sort it out?
Many thanks in advance.
Martyn.

Just a bit of an update......
I've checked my personal settings and found there were none...
I got the details of the wap and mms settings from Vodafone and updated them, however I had no way of entering the home page on the wap settings.
If I go into the internet widget the only 3 options I have are
1) Home page - which when I click on it tells me to check the settings.
2) Browser - I click on this and this does nothing
3) Web services - when I click on this there is an 'about' folder with nothing in.
All of the other options have disappeared.
I have tried to set up my emails and I managed to update the details manually and was able to update the WLAN setting when it was searching for an access point, however when I select either wap of WLAN it tells me that it can't connect.
I am seriously thinking of taking a hammer to this phone has not only has it wiped everything of the phone memory all my settings are gone and I can't even log on and update the firmware (just in case this was going to help).
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Martyn.

  • Bad optical drive? Can't boot from install, loss of memory....help!

    I seem to have a series of issues which I noticed today with a drop in hard drive memory. I typically hover around 105 GB and for unexplainable reasons dropped to 76 GB.(I'm getting this number from the bottom of a Finder window) I started to do some exploring (ran Disk Inventory (I couldn't make much sense of it), repaired permissions etc.). Nothing jumped out at me. I decided to do a clean install from my Install dvd (leopard) but the disk won't mount. I get stuck on a grey screen w/ an apple but no spinning gear. Eventually, I get a small folder w/ a scolding frowny face and the the disk is spit out.
    I did a Safe Boot and restart. Didn't fix the memory issue OR the inability to re-install. I carefully cleaned the Install dvd. No luck.
    I reset the pram.
    Then, once I was able to get the Install disk to show up on my desk top but when I click "Install" and the computer restarted - back to the grey screen and the frowny folder.
    I then took a home movie DVD-R I had created a while back and the computer spits that out also. It does accept an audio CD.
    So I guess I have a few issues here....any thoughts on where my memory/hard drive space may have gone? And any thoughts on what's up with not being able to read DVD's? I have a dvd project due on Saturday of this week....UGH.
    Thanks in advance.....Karen

    when you saying "install" leopard again.. you booted to the disk and on the screen where it asks you to "select a destination" make sure you click options and then choose from there.

  • Mac Pro 6 core, D500, 256ssd 64gb loss of memory problems

    I Can simply have the computer running with no Apps other than Finder & Adobe CC cloud and it burns up all RAM within an hour.
    Help?

    By far the things that cause the most issues are "just one little thing" that Users have added. These tend to cause trouble because they are badly-crafted or because they do things in violation of Developer Guidelines.
    Lots of seemingly innocent little things that users have added have been seen to cause serious problems in high-end Mac Pros. If you want trouble-free, remove all the non-Apple add-ons and just run straight, unmodified Mac OS X and Major Applications, no add-ons. Readers here could easily produce a list of more than 50 add-ons that have been seen in postings here to cause trouble.  When in doubt, throw it out.
    The anti-malware features built into Mac OS X work better that any so-called "anti-Virus". Most of these commercial packages are simply worthless, but some also ruin performance, ruin memory utilization, or cause kernel panics without adding any additional value.
    Hardware problems do not cause memory leaks.
    The Mac Pro has Error Correcting Code memory, and its memory problems do not fester undetected. But you do need to check that all the memory you installed is still listed as present, because ANY problems detected at Startup can cause failing modules to be marked "absent".

  • Security Update 2006-001 causes huge loss of memory

    After running Security Update 2006-001 and updating Garageband, iPhoto and iTunes, per Software Update, my available GB of memory was reduced from approximately 110 to about 35! Yikes! What could have caused this, and how can I fix it?

    Don't confuse memory & hard drive space. Running applications uses memory; storing files (application or document) use hard drive space. If you run memory-hungry apps, you may need to increase the RAM in your Mac to avoid slowdowns due to your Mac swapping data in memory (RAM) out to the hard drive. If you don't have adequate hard drive space to spare for this (usually 5 GB minimum, or 10% or more of your hard drive's free space), you may get crashes or other problems.
    In any case, deleting files (from the hard drive) won't change the amount of memory (RAM) your Mac uses. That is controlled by the OS, in response to the demand of the application(s) you run. OS X has very good memory management; generally, all you will see is slowdowns if the demand is greater than the installed RAM can handle.
    Are you seeing any problems, or are you just concerned that memory use is higher than you expect?

    We use Java SDK 1.4.0-b92 on a Sun Blade Machine with Solaris 8 Operating System.

    Yes I'm still following the thread.
    Like i said i only have ovi maps running with PhoNetInfo and even today i tested it again. I managed by changing some settings to get 50MB of free RAM when the phone is idle.
    I changed the amount of allowed RAM to be used by ovi maps to the minimum (10%). This time i had 40MB of free ram before calculating the root (again more or less 600km) without tolls and the fastest root. i continued with PhoNetInfo on and following the value of free RAM and they kept falling till i get again the low memory error.
    I tried then a "solution" that i got from nokia that stated to change the configuration of the internet to online, and it worked perfectly. But i don't think this is a solution since i can't have my phone always connected to the internet. I don't know is where i can suggest that nokia try to solve this problem but already sent an email to the client support stating this.
    I don't think i can install a later version of ovimaps since it comes pre-installed on the phone and i don't see where i can uninstall it and where to find the earlier versions.
    But thanks for the reply,

  • Which of the following will take more memory?

    Hi All,
    which of the following will take more memory:
    ---this-----
    long longval[] = new long[100];
    String strval[100] = new String[100];
    boolean boolval[100] = new boolean[100];
    ---or this-----
    class Data {
    long longval;
    String strval;
    boolean boolval;
    Data data = new Data[100];
    I heard objects will take up more memory than default datatypes. I'm looking for speed and memory optimization, so even the slightest of memory saving will matter.

    Hi,
    the first one needs less memory, I guess - beside the point, that the second one has 100 additional references, is the fact, that allocation of memory on modern machines is not a continous one - new data blocks are arranged so, that they start on even addresses (it's a performance issue) often clustered in multiples of 16, 32 or 64. So if you allocate a lot of single objects, the average loss of memory with each object is 8,16 or 32 Bytes (half the cluster size).
    The first one allocates 3 compact data blocks (arrays) - so 3 times the additional loss of memory takes place. The second one allocates 101 blocks (100 objects + 1 array), and so 101 times the additional loss of memory takes place.

  • Memory leak in Real-Time caused by VISA Read and Timed Loop data nodes? Doesn't make sense.

    Working with LV 8.2.1 real-time to develop a host of applications that monitor or emulate computers on RS-422 busses.   The following screen shots were taken from an application that monitors a 200Hz transmission.  After a few hours, the PXI station would crash with an awesome array of angry messages...most implying something about a loss of memory.  After much hair pulling and passing of the buck, my associate was able to discover while watching the available memory on the controller that memory loss was occurring with every loop containing a VISA read and error propogation using the data nodes (see Memory Leak.jpg).  He found that if he switched the error propogation to regular old-fashioned shift registers, then the available memory was rock-solid.  (a la No Memory Leak.jpg)
    Any ideas what could be causing this?  Do you see any problems with the way we code these sorts of loops?  We are always attempting to optimize the way we use memory on our time-critical applications and VISA reads and DAQmx Reads give us the most heartache as we are never able to preallocate memory for these VIs.  Any tips?

    Hi thisisnotadream,
    This problem has been reported, and you seem to be exactly reproducing the conditions required to see this problem. This was reported to R&D (# 134314) for further investigation. There are multiple possible workarounds, one of which is the one that you have already found of wiring the error directly into the loop. Other situations that result in no memory leak are:
    1.  If the bytes at port property node is not there and a read just happens in every iteration and resulting timeouts are ignored.
    2.  If the case structure is gone and just blindly check the bytes at port and read every iteration.
    3.  If the Timed Loop is turned into a While loop.
    Thanks for the feedback!

  • Loosing memory in jms ??

    Hi,
              Here are the details:
              OS: RHEL 4
              JVM: BEA WebLogic JRockit(TM) 1.4.2_08 JVM R24.5.0-61 Version ari-49095-20050826-1856-linux-ia32 from BEA Systems, Inc.
              WLS: 8.1.4 (Clustered, 1 Admin, 2 Managed)
              JMS: 1 JMS Servers on each of the Managed Servers with File Based Backing Store.
              Processing Details:
              Messages are posted to an Input Distributed Queue.
              Application managed Threads (AMT) act as synchronous consumers for the Dist. Queue.
              AMT?s dispatch messages to Stateless Session Bean (SSB) for processing.
              SSB uses Entity Beans for persisting message details.
              SSB sends an output message (per input message) to Distributed Topic(s).
              Both Output and Input Messages are persistent.
              What we are seeing is a continuous loss of memory(heap) in this processing. Profiling has shown none of the application objects lingering around. However we see a lot of weblogic.jms.backend.MessageReference, weblogic.jms.common.Counter, weblogic.jms.common.JMSMessageId, weblogic.jms.store.StoreEntry, weblogic.jms.common.MessageTime, weblogic.jms.common.ObjectMessageImpl, weblogic.jms.store.FileIOHeap$Chunk object instances.
              These don't go away after gc etc.
              Any idea what could be causing this ?
              Thanx,

    Hi Tom,
              I see around 900K instances of weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageReference (which looks like a LinkedList node).
              I see references to this from weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageList.
              weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageList is referenced by several weblogic.jms.backend.BE* types.
              It looks like weblogic.jms.backend.BEMessageReference is a skeleton which points to messsages sent to the JMS Queue (and Topic ??).
              (pagedState = 3 if that helps).
              So even though there are no un-consumed/un-processed messages why do we have these skeletons.
              I will see if I can have a reproducer.
              I got this problem in 8.1.6 as well.

    Hi,
    the screenshot does not indicate a memory leak. Memory leaks show by the server memory consumption that leads to slow performance or stale applications. Your issue seems to be different from that and doesn't really explain in the screen shots. If you have a support contract then customer support is the recommendation I like to give

  • Where are the docking headers in Premiere Elements 13?

    I've just purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 13.  I'm using a dual monitor arrangement on my three-year old iMac.
    In earlier versions of Premiere Elements it was possible, using docking headers, to arrange screen components and windows to my own preferred layout and then save it.  Next time I started Premiere, the screen layout would appear as per my personal layout.
    I've not been able to find that facility on the latest version of PE.  A couple of components can be rearranged, but not many, it seems, and even those are likely to disappear too easily, especially when using a dual monitor.  Certainly it seems necessary to rearrange the entire layout manually whenever I restart PE.
    Am I missing something?  Is there a way to fix the screen layout as I want it for as long as I want it?
    My thanks if you are able to help.

    It is what it is. This is an old story.
    Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 are significantly different from version earlier than 11 with regard to dual monitor feature.

    Loss of memory of dual monitor set up after the save close of the project is part of the matter.

  • File/Import and Page Layout not working anymore

    I have a question about old software: FrameMaker 6.0 on a Mac. (While Adobe encouraged me to purchase this in 2001 for the chemistry textbook I am writing, I had invested to much to abandon it when Adobe abandoned the Mac version a few years later.)
    I have imported dozens of images files into the 750 page book and FrameMaker has accepted both tif and jpg formats. The way I did it was to create an anchored frame in the textbook, click on it, and then File>Import and select the image file and then choose whether I wanted it to be referenced or actually in the text.  All of this worked fine... until a couple of days ago.
    Problems
    1. I no longer get Import as an option under File and
    2. FrameMaker no longer recognizes tif and jpg files under "All Readable Documents"  when I do File>Open.  I have to click on Show All Files to see them.
    As a result I am unable to import any tif or jpg files into the FrameMaker textbook.
    What's curious is that I have 6.0 installed on both a G4 and a PowerBook and this problem has occurred on both at  the same time.
    3. And I just discovered that when I do Format/Page Layout the half a dozen or so custom formats that I had are no longer listed.
    So what has caused this loss of memory for Framemaker that it can no longer do what it has done for me for years.  (I am somewhat sympathetic to it's memory loss myself as a 78 year old user.)
    The G4 has been unplugged recently but in the past it has been unplugged for a week or so and there were no problems.

    I don't know if read-only files are recognized by FrameMaker to the point where it will dim commands that need to write to the files.
    It's always a good idea on Mac to repair permissions with Disk Utility - make sure you have good backups, just in case.
    Have you tried saving a file that can't import as MIF, then opening the MIF version to restore the file, and perhaps lose any corruption in it? This is called the "MIF Wash."
    I think the latest Mac OS that FrameMaker can work with is system 9, or the Classic simulator that runs on the OS X release called Tiger. I'm sure you'd know if you changed operating systems in this period. Classic won't run on Intel Macs.
    I have no other clues about what might cause this, except the general thought that something has changed on your systems or in the files you're working with. Does the problem persist in a brand-new file you create on your local drive? If you're working with FM files on a network, have you tried the process with files on your local computer drive? Have you quit FrameMaker and restarted your Macs? Any change? If you have a cloned bootable backup of your stuff from before the problem arose, you might want to try cloning your problematic drive to a new bootable backup, then restoring the known good clone, to see if it works.
