C3 'Touch And Type' IMAP Woes

Hi all,
Got a C3 Touch And Type and actually really like the phone. However, major shock came when I tried to configure IMAP email for my custom IMAP email account. Just can't get it to work.
After starting Nokia Mail, I selected 'Other' from the emial service provider list - and proceeded to type in my email address and password. I'm assuming that the phone does some sort of DNS query in order to get the mail server details, however - can't be too clever as this didn't work - 'signing in' resulted in 'Comminication Error' each time. I checked Internet via the Browser and that was fine.
After more attempts, rather than 'Communciation Error' I got another message saying it could not log in and then I get some text boxes asking me to enter the server / mail box details. "Result!" I though - however - amazingly, when I try to type in the name of the user account on the screen, the phone wants to use predictive text - it won't let me use abc method!!! Hence it's impossible to type in a mail box / server / domain name that is not a dictionaty word. There is an 'options' short cut where you can turn predictive on, but it's set here to off. It still wants to use predictice for this text field.
I tried to update the mail app - it says 'The latest version is avalaible' however, I'm not sure if that means the latest version is on the phone, or just avaliable.
When I go to 'about' and then upgrade, I again get 'Communication Error'. Arrggh!
I have had Nokias before and it's been a matter of going to settings / Email / Accounts - and basically filling in the server / account details there - so much easier.
I really really need IMAP to work on this phone - can anyone help?

there are few Deficiencies in the software, which i found out in my nokia c3-01 touch and type phone. i would like to list out them. and i hereby request the nokia team to make the required changes in the next firmware update.
the main menu icons cannot be re-arranged (organized)
current version of opera mini in the firmware is 5.0. while the latest version available is 6, but it cannot be upgraded. so please include the latest opera in the next update
when we go for full-screen edit in opera, the text cannot be marked for copy nor for cut. this is related to phone because the fullscreen edit calls for edit window of phone where 'mark text' option is not present, this isnt the problem for opera alone, but for all other apps there is no 'mark' option.
the messages can be achieved to a single folder. there is no option to create multiple folders for categorized saving of messages. there is a single folder named 'archive' and there is no option to create another folder inside it
touch settings would have been better if it was similar to that of nokia 5230xm
as per the cost effectiveness, i mainly expected the phone to possess app minimization option, so as to run many applications, like 5230.
swipe to unlock was a better improvement in last update
hoping for the required changes in the upcoming updates.

I couldn't find any post or instruction on how to record the conversation make during call, which could be done by pressing the record UI in the option menu.
The photo have lots of noise, even my beloved 7610 2.0 mp are more clean
The menu UI at times reluctant to response
Switching between different provider will automatically changed the UI menu
Downloading mobile internet content at times seems to begotten by the phone halfway thru other then that chick are looking by the Conner of their eyes at me or the phone which I am not sure

I have a C3-01 touch and type my provider is AT & T I need any help to get my email settings and internet settings AT & T have been NO help since i did NOT buy my phone threw them!!! At first I had trouble with receiving pic messages and send pic messaging so i sent a question threw nokia and someone had the settings i followed the steps and now i can receive and send pic messages and AT & Twas trying to tell me I wouldn't be able to since i didn't buy my phone threw them they were of NO help so now i am asking anyone that can help again i need the steps to set my phone so i can get my email and internet any one with info let me know THANK YOU!!! C3-01 Touch and Type Keypad Lock/Unlock Issue,,

I just bought this C3-01 touch and type phone and it got big issue of locking/unlocking key pad..
phone gets locked and even if I click on keylock button and then click unlock (on touch screen) then it never gets unlocked.. (I checked guide it says same thing)
how to resolve this issue? anyone had same issue?

1st Of All, If u just got oyur Nokia C3-01 Device, then You must be having the old version of SOftware in it, maybe v05.68. So In that SW, You have to press the unlock, there is no swipe to unlock,
So, You can clearly see, there is a Button at the Right of your mobile below the Volume Buttons (Right If you Have your Device Screen Facing you, Left If you ahve the Back Battery Cover Facing You)
So Press that Button, you will see your display glow showing " UNLOCK " option in the middle, Press It.
It will get Unlock.
Also, after Unlocking, Before adding anything to Phone Memory (like contacts, messages,etc) make sure to update your Mobile FW/SW to the latest version out there (which is v06.05)
So, If you have a PC with internet connection, connect your Device with USB, and Use Nokia Software Updater (Or Nokia Ovi Suite, whatever you have got Installed In your PC) and Start Updating ASAP, Alot Of Bug Fixes have been Taken Place,
If Still Not Unlocked, RETURN YOUR DEVICE NOW, because your Device is Faulty.

C3-01 touch and type - slow recent calls file

I have an issue with Log (or recent calls). When I push "green button" to see my last calls, and after than I push "red button" to go back to my home screen, it takes about 6-7 seconds, when home screen appears. It is very annoying.
Is this the feature of the S40 touch FW or it is a problem of my device?
I have the latest FW.

My phone switches quickly between the two. If there were an easy way to count the number of entries here, I could give you the number. It goes back to 2/24.

Weak support of Nokia and Suppliers for Touch-and-...

Hello friends!
After a long time of recherche, searching information, reading test reports and opinions in forums and testing lots of mobiles, I finally came to the result, that my e52 is the best solution in my case although it is not perfect - with its calender (s40-calender was much better, with better items and simpler parameters) and its T9 (typing on my s40-3120c is double time quicker than on the e52).
The c3-01 for sure is a brilliant phone, also the x3-02 - the concept of Touch-and-Type is top, combined with the quick s40-operating-system. The combination of Touchscreen with 12-keys-keyboard was very interesting for me. The first test with this phone was also great - top feeling, easy understanding, quick system, good browser, great WLAN functionality, the good "old" calender and T9 behaviour.
BUT:
Then I read, that this phone doesn't support Google Maps or any other navigation tool, because the navigation buttons are now solved as touch behaviour.
Then I searched for apps for this phone, but barely found some.Only themes, sounds etc. - everything, which is compatible to these phones.
The problem is in the end, that Nokia forgot to implement a possibility to simulate cursor keys with the touch pad, e.g. "left" is pressing left area or moving from right to left. Tapping in the middle would be th Nav button.
With such a adapter/converter it would be possible to use every tool for S40 and QVGA screen on the c3-01 and x3-02.
So actually those mobiles are great ones - but without apps and without maps But IMHO it is not that important e.g. for pedestrians to know the own position, but it is important, WHERE somebody can find WHAT, e.g. where is that restaurant? With a browser you can find out the adress, but then again one has to hask somebody for the way to that adress.
I used a normal simple s40-phone before, but it hat Google Maps, and only today I looked for a watch service, and I could find the place and the way to that service. With a c3-01 there would have been NO WAY.
Maybe somebody at Nokia reads this proposal - Touch-and-Type is a brilliant idea, but something very essential is still missing.

Sorry to hear about the lack of navigation on the C3-01. I was looking at this phone to replace my E51, but I do not want to give up navigation (which works OK on the E51 with the not-approved-by-Nokia version of Ovi Maps posted on this forum, coupled with Maps Booster, only available for purchase outside the USA!). The E52 does sound like the best, but there is no North American version.
Isn't it incredible how Nokia willfully conspires to not quite make the candy-bar phone everyone would want? They so cleverly avoid the obvious home run that I suspect they are afraid it would cannibalize sales from higher end models.
Is Nokia so distracted by the iPhone that they have failed to notice that they are the only contenders for a small, unlocked, international, one-handed phone with long battery life that can nevertheless do Internet, Email, navigate and play music--all without incurring expensive network-connection charges (ie. able to use WLAN)?

Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect. Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.

Using Airport for router, latest firmware, no problems with Iphone 4 or Macbook Pro or any other internet devices. After total Restore (factory settings) tried again, showed connected to router, but does not display "check" next to router but little rotating icon even though the wifi range signal shows connected at full strength and it says it is connected. Just can't seem to get it to generate an IP. Any solutions other than turning it on and off again? Not a Merry Christmas morning.

Ok, so, a couple of things: Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod. Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel. Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem. Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet. Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.

The Mail app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch does have an option to clear previous recipients. You can learn to live with it. But if you want to get rid of it, the only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is restoring the iPhone/iPod Touch as a new phone/iPod. If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.

When you go to Settings > WiFi and see your network name does it have a padlock icon to the right of the network name? If so it is a secured network with a password.
How did you connect to your network from the iPad? From Settings > Wifi? Was a network password requested? Was it accepted?
If you touch the ">" to the right of your network name what do you see for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, and DNS?
