C3 - trimming messages in Ovi Mail

My emails are getting a bit too numerous, bearing in mind the limited memory on the C3.  Up to over 300 now.  As i like to keep them on the server is there a way (hopefully in an automated fashion) of trimming them down to size (like a 'keep last 5 days messages' option)?

It would depend as well on what email app you are using. Are you using the default Messaging app or did you use the Nokia Messaging/Email app?

  • Ovi Mail fails to connect after netwrork/provider ...

I have three email accounts on my E72, two of which work just fine after I changed service provider/network (from TDC to Telenor, Denmark), but Ovi Mail doesn't sync. Pressing Z initiates the sync but then after one second it gives up. There IS mail waiting on my account. I have made no changes to the phone apart from removing all connections associated with my old network. The phone is not sim-locked or anything.
Ideas please (except factory reset, I only do one of the those a mjonth :-) )

Each mailbox has two settings for the Access Point.  While viewing that mailbox's messages, choose Options -> Settings -> Mailbox Settings -> Advanced Mailbox Settings.  Incoming Email Server and Outgoing Email Server have an "Access Point in Use" option.  Make sure those are both set correctly.
If they are...spare yourself some anguish.  Delete the mailbox completely (if you're using Nokia's Messaging service via email.nokia.com, maybe delete the account from there if such an option exists?) and remake.  That's sure to get it working again.

  • Ovi Mail and Outlook 2010; from/subject/date field...

I'm using Outlook 2010 version for my home laptop and tuesday evening all incoming mails missed information for sender, subject and the date/time fields. Connecting to Ovi mail by browser, all these information is existing on mails.
Is there has been change on server setup after moving to Yahoo servers??

Mail messages always include more headers than are normally shown by the mail client. Sometimes people may wish to examine the full set of headers to check the veracity of a message, or to determine its actual origin, and generally when trouble-shooting. You control whether or not you see them with menu View/Message/Long Headers, or you may have a button for it on your toolbar.

  • Ovi mail not receiving mails

Anyone else has problems with receiving mails? Sending a mail to my account causes undeliverable pingpong message back. It tells that account does not exist... Funny that sending a mail still works from that "non-existing" mail address.
I've complained to support, but it appears that they don't care. I am kind of out of humour with this ovi mail stuff (referring to the (in)famous "we lost your mails for two weeks episode a while ago")

Impossible to say without knowing the details of your mail configuration.

  • Ovi Mail

Hey...Is there something going on with Ovi Mail? I havent been able to access it since yesterday. Outlook and Nokia Messaging cant connect to it, while opening it on my desktop/laptop just gives me a page with "Ovi Mail powered by Yahoo! can't load".
If you find my post helpful please click the green star on the left under the avatar. Thanks.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The emails that you received prior to the Ovi Mail move to Yahoo! are safe. You do not see all of them yet because they are in the process of being moved to your updated Ovi Mail account. You will see your emails in your inbox once the move is complete. During this process, you can still send and receive new emails.
The info email about the change was sent out couple of weeks ago (to primary email address mentioned in Ovi account details). It may be that old emails or contacts are not visible during the transition phase but as soon as the transfer is complete, you will see all of your old emails and full contact list. You should also receive another email when transfer is complete.

  • OVI Mail - how is it financed?

Login to your "Free" OVI Mail account, click the OVI Service Terms link at the bottom left, and note:
"Your use of the Service may be or may become subject to charges.
Any fees charged by Nokia will be announced separately in connection with the Service."
Who in their right mind, would migrate all of their email to an OVI mail account, inform hundreds of contacts, and print stationary... if there's a risk Nokia would introduce an unreasonable monthly charge in the future?  Transitioning to a new email address is not easy.
So I wonder: How does Nokia intend to finance the OVI mail service?
They say it's "free", but it has to be paid for by somebody.  With over a million accounts registered, OVI email already represents a major server infrastructure which has to be maintained by a specialised team, not to mention the global bandwidth costs.  Even Google can't afford to run Gmail as a charity, so why should OVI mail be any different?
Message Edited by fadviral on 21-Aug-2009 01:21 PM

Hei, a small comment to your discussion:
I have been using Nokia messaging since it was launched (aug 08 ?). Was happy with it until week or two weeks ago I got a message that the ar going to charge of it.
Actually not they, but the local provider. Charge would be 5e / month, which I found too expensive.
So i installed Profimail, which coasted some 15 GP (ca. 18 e).
Now my problem is the using the Ovi mail account: I dont know the server settings to be used with PM. I wonder if Nokia is willing to give them to be used with other clients. One solution is to stop using the Ovi account.
Of course Nokia has a right to start charging. Especially because it was announced in the very begining and in general terms. But I would find it also fair to give the setting for other clients.
Has somebody got the setting for Ovi, or should I start asking them from Nokia Messaging Team.
All the other accounts are working ok with the PM (Yahoo & GMail).

  • Where do OVI Mail downloads go on the phone?

Hi, some messages I receive with Ovi Mail, contain attachments. When I choose to download these, I see the progress bar... download finished... but then cannot find these documents anywhere. My phone is an E72. Where do I need to navigate to find the downloaded attachments?
    Thanks!

If you save the attachments, the type of attachment decides where it will go.
Photos for instance go to the root of the "images" folder on either main memory, mass memory or a card.
Or another example, html files go to the "other" folder.
Try to locate your attachments with the File Manager, it lives in Applications/Office and look for the file name.
If you use Nokia mail instead of the mail feature under "messaging", you will have full control of where attachments are saved.

  • Unable to login to Ovi mail (Yahoo)

After the move to Yahoo I haven't been able to login to my Ovi mail account via any web browser or imap/pop. Luckily I can still access my mail via my phone.
When I login I get an welcome message that asks me to confirm a license agreement; after pressing the agree button I get an error message saying that the Ovi Mail service cannot be loaded. The page talks about an error code "UNKNOWN".
I tried refreshing the page, clearing the browser cache, different browsers (IE9, firefox, Opera) changing my password but I'm always taken to the same page.

since I started the migration and more specifically from April 6 I no longer get into my mail chisel. I asked several times for help but no one has been able to help me, I have always said that I had to wait until the end of migration, probably in late April. but the situation has become untenable, I have 21 unread mails and some very important! please someone give me an explanation and help !!!!!

  • Using Hotmail with Ovi mail (Syncing)

    Hi,
Is there a  way to connect OVI mail to Hotmail via POP so it checks and downloads new messages away from hotmail only when I check them via OVI?
So what I plan on doing is creating an imap folder on my OVI mail account that shows all my new hotmail messages but only when I check it via OVI
Is this possible? That will be great if it is as it'll mean imap hotmail
and I can slowly wean myself away from hotmail as well (It's rubbish for not having imap)

i had Nokia Messaging and  my hotmail synced and recived my emails auotmatically and now its not. I have to sync manually sync each time now. And why cant i log on to my msn messenger through my ovi chat . I keep getting a message about the sevice not being available for my region or operator why is that.
