C300 MXF Import : From Files on a Harddrive

Hi,
I have shot about 15 CF cards worth of footage with the Canon C300. That was before I had bought FCPX and was editing the footage with Adobe Premiere Pro 6 which can automatically recognize the MXF without transcoding or re-wrapping.
Now that I have FCPX 10.0.6 I want to import the footage... but it won't recognize the files even though they are an exact copy of what was on the CF cards.
I bought FCPX because it said  the latest update (10.0.6) was compatible with files MXF natively?
Regardless.. I'm looking for a simple solution to import the files.. The only work-around I have figured out is to copy the files back to a CF card and then FCPX will allow me to import.
But why is it dependent on me having the footage on a CF card instead of a harddrive even though the file structure is exactly the same??
Seems unnecessarily specific.. Any thoughts? I don't feel like spending hours writing back media to cards and re-importing.
Thanks

I'll give that a try.. I've never created a DMG file using Disk Utility. How long would that take for 64GB's of footage?
I guess it's a little discouraging that FCPX makes you jump through bizzare hoops to import footage that is considered native. I know the editing structure is based on Quicktime but why won't it allow me to wrap footage that is already downloaded to a drive? Seems pretty straight forward..
Can anyone explain the thinking on a limitation like that?
So the DMG work-around essentially duplicates the footage which the needs to be wrapped.. So 64GB's of footage becomes 128GB's with the new DMG file.. then I need to wrap that for a total of 192GB's. I might need to buy an new HD to complete the import of 960GB's of material with this method.

Open that file in a text program like Notepad or Wordpad and look at the beginning of that file.
A bookmarks backup JSON file will begin like this:
    <pre><nowiki>{"title":"","guid":"mJC706EZwTIU","id":1,"index":0,"dateAdded":1240105145406000,"lastModified":1328860824735000,"type":"text/x-moz-place-container","root":"placesRoot","children":[{"title":"Bookmarks Menu","

A bookmarks.html file that was exported (or from a different brand browser) will begin like this.
    <pre><nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1>

  • In PSE 9.0, how do I import from files into organizer without duplicating images already in the orga

In PSE 9.0, how do I import images from hard drive files into the organizer without importing duplicated files already in the organizer or
How do I find duplicated images within the organizer so that I can delete them?

I imported a bunch of photos from iPhoto 4 on one machine to iPhoto 5 on another, expecting it to catch duplicates, without testing beforehand (duh). It didn't catch them, and now I'm trying to figure out which were the imported ones so I can delete them.
As this looks to be a laborious task if done from within iPhoto, and deleting the files via the Finder is a no-no -- assuming I can even identify the duplicates -- is there a third-party app, or even a good trick, for doing this?

  • Music will not show in library when imported from file

To whom ever can assist me:
Firstly, thanks for looking this over.
I am attempting to import music files that I have already saved on my PC via Real Player (I saved the music from my music CDs, using Real Player as my default media player). These files are saved on my C: Drive, under "My Music", and saved in folders under each artist.
Now, as I go into the iTunes icon, go into "File", and attempt to "Add file to Library", the songs are not being saved to my iTunes library. It allows me to find the song and double click on it, assuming I am opening it into the library, but it does not show.
I have gone through a few forum questions to see if I could find the answer on my own, and understand that because my music is saved w/a Real Player icon, that I may have to convert it. But I am completely lost as to how to do this, and w/out having to resave the songs say, like on CD, then resaving on iTunes.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Sweet_Li, NYC
    Dell   Windows XP

If you've saved the songs as Real Player format then unfortunately iTunes will not copy those songs into the library. Because the extension is ".rm" which iTunes doesn't recongize.
If the songs are saved with a .mp3 file then they should copy just fine.
    Hope that helps a little.

  • C300 MXF import fails across CS6

I am having trouble with footage shot with the Canon C300.
In Premiere, Prelude, & Media Encoder Ingest/Import fails with 'generic error' or 'unable to read xmp'
I can play the footage in Resolve 9, & in VLC.
I have tried transcoding it using Pavtube MXF Converter.
When transcoded to MPEG2 the ingest/import still fails.
When transcoded to WMV it can then be ingested/imported.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Anyone have a solution?
    Thank you community :-)

Have you tried a re-install of CS6? Having to transcode files that should play natively is a heck of a problem. I would wipe the system drive and start agian. Contacting Adobe support is also on tap.
This should work; from CS6 white papers:
"Adobe Systems and Canon have collaborated to bring highly e&cient, #le- and tape-based work!ows
to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 so"ware, giving users the ability to natively edit HD and SD footage shot
with Canon video cameras, including the Canon EOS C300 Digital Cinema camera, Canon XF305/300,
and Canon XF105/100, which record video on solid-state media using the powerful Canon XF
MPEG-2 codec with Full HD 1920x1080 resolution, 50Mbps bit rate, and 4:2:2 color sampling."

  • NCS - add guest user (import from file)

Does anyone have the format of the csv? I'm using
    user     password     duration      description     disclaimer
However, I get the error "Insufficient data at line 1. Missing required 2 field(s).".
    Any ideas?

This is why I asked you about what the note says.
so, if it is the case, ignore the first row I put.
If you want not to insert optional fields you would write (for example, ignoring the disclaimer and the description):
    user1,*****,3600,,,
    (or if we want to ignore the disclaimer only);
    user1,*****,3600,description,,
(or if we want to ignore the description only):
    user1,******,3600,,disclaimer
You need to use 4 commans anyway for each row. if you want to leave something blanks you use whatever after the comma blank. but the comma should be there.
NCS uses the commas as separator to know what field to be filled. So no need to put them in regular column shape.

  • The bookmarks are not correctly imported from IE. before there was no problem, now only 4 folders instead of 15 folders. i didnt change any settings.

this problem started about 4 weeks ago. everything done like the instructions.

If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites and the favorites won't end up in a "From Internet Explorer" folder, but will be appended at the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Any way to import from another drive and leave clips in place?

    Hi
Is there any way to import from other drives where you can leave your media in place?
Whenever I've imported clips from another drive I had to copy them to the library, while clips on the same drive as the library I could leave in place. Besides getting a bit tired of FCP treating like a kid with Alzheimer's, what would one do, say, when a drive gets full? I could see big projects needing more than a single drive.
    best
    elmer

LIke Russ said, the copy of the entire folder structure is similar to creating a camera archive. This copy or archive is treated just as if it were a camera card - in particular, "leave in place" is not available, and you have the option go import just parts of clips if you want.
so technicay even though they reside in a hard drive this is like importing from camera, as opposed to "import from file".
I Will try to describe how I handle my media. I hope this will help clarify things a bit. I am not saying thus is the way to do things, but it is my way.
I keep archives of the camera cards, which I then erase and reuse.
I import clips from my camera archives which I store as external media (copying to a folder of my choosing instead of into the library). These movie files, plus other files that I get from other sources, can be later imported and used in other libraries using "leave in place".
And all of this of course needs to be regularly backed up.

  • Importing from iphoto, always get "import failed".

I am trying to move my pictures from iphoto to elements.
I "import from files and folders" and choose import from iphoto.
    I have 87,0000 pictures.
    It fails saying "import failed".
I check the disk, and the files are there but no pictures in the catalog.
I try to remove the files that it says are damaged.  I have done that.  I still get "import failed" with no report of why.
I see many other posts with this same issue, and no good solution.
I tried to create a new catalog, no difference.

    Elements 12.0
I have had Elements for the mac for 3 months now and still can't use it!

I did the "from iPhoto" and got the problem listed above.  I want the whole library transferred.
I am looking for a solution to the elements defect listed above.  If I import the library, and it has a problem with a single photo, it should not import that photo, but do the rest.  It is not doing that, it is failing and not importing anything.
This is especially frustrating since it take hours to import the library, then when it is 95% done, it fails and imports nothing.
