C4210 will not feed.

The paper will not feed into printer. I have cleaned the rollers, but it did not help. The printer quit working after a paper jam occured. I cleared the jam and now it will not feed at all. I love this printer and I don't want to have to replace it. Help!

Is this the a909a model?  If so see the troubleshooting page here, there is a firmware update that may apply as well as other troubleshooting steps.  If you have a different Officejet 8500 model then select the proper model here, then select "Solve a Problem" and then "Jams and Feed Problems" for troublshotting specific to your model.

If the printer will still not feed paper, then it is probably time for a new printer.
The Photosmart family of printers is currently being switched over to the ENVY family.
The new printers are also eligible for the Instant Ink program.
    There are about fourteen printers.
Eleven that you can click on to bring up the user manual.
This user manual should tell you if the printer can handle card stock.

  • 1102 Paper Will Not Feed Follow-up Questions

The diagram that you sent to the other person with this problem - paper will nopt feed - does not match MY 1102. I cannot find the "Release Tabs" pictured in your diagram to remove and clean the roller. Secondly, I see that the 1102 has been discontinued - odd that HP did not tell me that as I just purchased two CE285A Print Cartridges through them. So what basic HP printer replaced the 1102, that uses the same CE285A Print Cartridge?

  • C310A WILL NOT FEED PAPER. PRINTER CLICKS. If IT PUSH PAPER IN BY HAND, IT WILL PRINT, BUT NOT AUT

HP PHOTOSMART 310A printer will not feed paper.  It is about 6 months old, with minimal use at home.  It has always done a lot of clicking, but now when it would normally feed the paper, it clicks for several seconds, and the top piece of paper does not feed,  it then clicks again, like it is trying feed paper, then to back the paper out, and then stops.  The printer then posts a no paper in tray error.  When I reload it does the same thing again.   Does the printer not have a optical paper in tray sensor?  It should be able to see the paper is in the tray fairly easily, not sure why it uses the feed roller to sense paper?
It does not seem to work, regardless of the number of sheets used.  1, 10, 25, or mostly full of paper.
The clicking sounds more like gears slipping, rather than the normal clicking it makes all the time.  (with about 30 or 40 clicks in a few seconds, all at a fairly regular rate.)
it only clicks after the little arm extends down and touches the top of the paper stack.  There is a metal arm, with two white wheels that is dropped from above the paper onto the tray, and it appears to be that arm that is clicking.  It looks like it is trying to push the first (top) sheet of paper into the printer.  The top sheet does not move.   If I push the paper, it will take the paper and run just fine for that one sheet.
I opened the back, and there is an area with a couple of larger wheels that look like they feed the paper up from the tray into the printer.  In that area there was a cardboard piece with CN503-00012 printed on the side.  It appeared to be loose in the cover, and not sure what that is for? if it should be there? or if it is related,  I removed the cardboard piece.  Not sure what to do with that.  I do not think it is nessisarily related, since if I can feed the paper by pushing it, it takes it and prints.
Help explain what is going on.
    John

I do not recognize the cardboard peice you describe - I just opened up my c310a and did not see anything like this.  It may have been part of the packing material....
At any rate, I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps in this page.

  • Printer will not feed envelopes

I have a HP Deskjet F4180 All in One printer and am having trouble getting it to feed envelopes. I've tried Monarch sized envelopes and No. 10 size envelopes and the printer will not pick them up from the feed tray. I've tried pushing them further into the printer and when it does pick them up the end of the envelope stops before it is under the printer head and I have to use the resume button to clear the envelope out of the printer. It seems like the end of the envelope just reaches the feeder wheels but is never engaged by them.  The printer will feed a regular 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper just fine and will even print the address out on these sheets. It just will not feed the envelopes. I've tried to feed the envelopes from on top of paper in the feed tray and feeding the envelope separetly with no paper in the tray. Nothing seem to work. This problem has come up suddenly. I was able to print envelopes last week. Now it has stopped feeding them entirely. Any suggestions would be appreciated.  The printer is less than 2 years old and sees very light service. .

  • Support Code 1007 printer will not feed paper from lower tray!

PIXMA MG5422 will not feed paper from lower tray. Wifi connect Mac OS X 10.9.4

I have the same problem with my Canon MG7120 and it's SUPREMELY annoying. I have a iMac running 10.10.4 and am also trying to use iPhones. The printer has no option to print from the lower tray if it sees any color or any odd size page. Anything from the iPhone will be treated the same, rendering it completely useless. I love Canon printers, have had many in the past, but this one is really really annoying.

  • Officejet 7000 will not feed paper

My Officejet 7000 will not take the paper from the paper supply tray.
When I send a document to the printer it sounds normal as if the rollers are turning but after a few seconds it stops and the button with the paper icon flashes as if there is no paper (there is paper and I've reloaded and tried reprinting several times).
Just prior to the issue, the printer was in the process of printing a multi-page document. About half way through printing one of the pages I heard a 'clack' type sound. The next page nor any subsequent attempt would feed into the printer.
Any idea what is wrong and if it is worth fixing?
    Thank you.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 (N911a) will not feed photo paper - Definitive Answer!!!!

    DUST IS THE CULPRIT!
As per the HP support page for this specific problem, cleaning the rollerhead (The rubber part of the pick roller), is the solution.
    HP Solution here (with pictures).
The specifics are found under the heading:
Solution four: Clean the paper rollers
My printer was able to pick up regular paper, but not photo paper.  I updated all drivers (they automatically update weekly).  I tried every combination of paper in the tray: 1 sheet of photo paper, a large stack of regular paper with 1 photo paper, large stack with 5 sheets of photo paper.  Every combination failed, and the best it got was 1 page of photo paper with the next sheet underneath also coming with it.
I put the thing on its side, and used RUBBING ALCOHOL, (not water as they suggest... rubbing alcohol is much better for electronics, and pretty much any cleaning application.... evaporates very quickly), with a true lint free cloth.  Went over it several times with the cloth, rotating while cleaning, and used an AIR DUSTER to clean out the internals, and dry off the PICK ROLLER.
I RESET ROLLER POSITION to the original place, as shown in the HP Photo on support page.
Lastly, ONE SHEET OF PAPER at a time.
It took all that, and I'm still not happy with HP for this massive oversight... but it got my photos printing again.  Hopefully it will for you too!!

I managed to find a temporary solution as i need to print a photo urgently :
I sticked a piece of scotchtape along the top border of the paper (on the back side) and then it could feed. And i don't know why, but after this first print with scotchtape, the next photo papers would feed normally.
I hope it helps you guys. See the picture:

  • Officejet pro 8600 paper will not feed , Starts to feed and then jams before getting to printer head

officejet pro 8600. Has been flawless for 2 years. Now it start to feed the paper, but jams as the paper goes around to the printer. It seems like the paper goes straight up instead of curving aroun to the printer head.

Hello @ceebrick , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into paper jams.  I would love to help.
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then recommend this document on A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Printer.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Officejet Pro 8000 will not feed envelopes

    Envelope fee doesn't work.

    Hi jodiworks,
I'm sorry to hear that your colors are not printing correctly in Word Perfect and some on-line bank documents.
If you are only seeing the issue within these two programs, the issue may be within them. If you are experiencing the "Quality" defects in all programs then I would suggest troubleshooting through the problem, as it may be a driver or hardware issue.
I have researched this and have found the guide I would recommend for you.
    Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues
If this does not resolve the issue and you are having more printing defects from all other programs as well, please respond and I will recommend more troubleshooting for you.
    I hope this helps!

  • Psc1210xi all-in-one will not "pull in" the paper

The rollers that "pull" the paper into the printer are not turning ! What could be causing this ?I have enough experience and tools to remove the top of the machine to re-align and/or replace the part (most likely a gear wheel or "belt") if necessary. Awaiting you're reply, Greg G. Beatty

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @GBEATTY
I understand your PSC 1210 model will not feed paper through it properly, and I wanted to share my suggestion.
I would recommend trying out these troubleshooting steps to see if they can help and repair the feed issue. If the problem does continue, I would suggest giving us a call as we do not suggest disassembling the printer.

  • ADF does not feed when scanning

s/# [Personal Information Removed] - ADF works fine in copy mode but will not feed in scan mode, only works off the glass.  Paper is detected in the ADF.

    Hello melgamma,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some scanning issues when attempting to scan from the ADF.
I do have a suggestion to start off with.
Make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
When the printer is back on, use the on/off button to do a proper shut down on the printer.  This will do a semi power reset.
Try your scan again on the adf.
Let me know how you make out.  If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to ask.
    Cheers,

  • C310 printer is not feeding and printing 4 X 6 envelopes correctly

I place the envelope, flap up, in the inside right hand upper corner of the feed tray as indicated both on the printer tray and in the selection position shown in my PrintMaster program, but the resulting print just gazes an edge of the envelope, as though the printer is trying to print in the wrong place.  When I put through a full sheet, the printing is done on the bottom right side of the sheet (the side closest to the person feeding) instead of the inside top right of the sheet as fed into the printer.  That is, on the printed side, the print is in the top right hand corner, but on the reverse side (which was face down when fed into the printer) the portion of the sheet that printed (as fed into the printer) was on the bottom right (the part closest to the person feeding the paper), not the inside top right.  I can't feed a 4 X 6 envelope from that outside position, as it will not feed.  How can I change the printer settings to print correcting on the envelope from the position it has to feed from?

I have a Vivera HP Inks printer...when the paper first starts to feed it jams.  Does this every time.
    Thabnk-you, Kathy Dent
