C4385 air print compatible?

I have a c4385 printer connected directly into my network and not using the wireless feature.  Any drivers or updates available to enable air print from my i-pad?  The printer works fine and I hate to buy another just to print from the i-pad.

Why anyone would pay 10$ for a 3rd party solution, let alone be stupid enough to buy a new HP printer for AirPrint to work, defies common sense.
Follow the instructions here:
http://blog.steventroughtonsmith.com/2010/11/return-airprint-sharing-to-mac-os-x .html
and in less than two minutes, including reboot, you can re-enable that functionality that was disabled during beta testing of iOS 4.2, with every printer.
I did it for all my 'puters and printers, and it's just so silly, because it works. FYI I have a Samsung laser printer, and a lame HP color jet thingy.
They (Apple and printer businesses) don't want you to use this, or even know about this, because printer businesses probably threatened to sue Apple for software patent infringement (i.e., those stupid printer drivers, a technology that should have vanished aeons ago).
But it is not illegal to tweak it yourself, nor is it going to damage your OS X. Heck, if anyone's paranoid about that, jsut backup the old files... all three of them, adding to about 10-15 seconds to the suggested workflow above...
If someone's not tech savvy, do be aware that accessing /usr/share and /usr/libexec is easier from Finder, but smoother from Terminal, as it may be the case that the permissions associated with those hidden system folders exclude the user attempting to copy and paste files to them. If this happens, login as an admin, and if OS X still won't have you overwrite the files, right-click on the folder from Finder, select "Get Info", then at the bottom of the info window, click on the little lock icon under Sharing and Permissions, and add yourself to the list as a user with read & write privileges...
Reboot, re-add your printer through System Preferences as per instructions on the website, and enjoy AirPrint right away from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch...
Peace out

I want to know if my Canon Pixma printer is air printer compatible

    Hey there Wolfage,
If your printer does support AirPrint it should be on this list from the following article, named:
    About AirPrint
The documentation that came with the printer may have this information as well.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

Does it say that on the box?
When you compare the MP495 to MG8820 on the Canon site, the MG series printer mentions Airprint but there MP series doesn't mention it. I see AirPrint mentions on the Wireless Help tab on other MG series Canon printers too.

  • How do I get my ipad to find the wireless HP printer that is supposed to be compatible w/ Air Print

How do I get my ipad to find the wireless HP printer that is supposed to be compatible w/ Air Print?

    Mary-
First be sure your printer is on Apple's list of AirPrint compatible printers at <iOS: AirPrint 101>.
Assuming it is on that list, check to see if there is a firmware update for it.  You should be able check it from the printer's control panel in one of the setup or preferences menus.
If the printer is still not found in the iPad's print routine, your WiFi router may not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  You would need to contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change you can make to its setup, or if there is a firmware update that will solve the problem.

  • When I air print from my iPad, I can't limit the number of pages. It just says print and the number of copies and I end up with way more than I want. How do I set it to limit the pages?

When I air print using FingerPrint from my ipad, it doesn't let me limit the number of pages, and I end up with more pages than I want. It asks if I want multiple copies, but it doesn't ask me number of pages, or which pages. Is there a way to do this?

When you use an AirPrint compatible printer, you get this option for page range. You are using your computer as the server in order to print, so you probably have to set the range on the computer. While you can print from your printer with this app, I assume that it doesn't give you the same control that you get directly from the iPad when using an AirPrint printer.
Read this from the FingerPrint support site. Selecting the page range would be part of the formatting of a print job.

  • Don't know how to use the air print with my ipads.

i just bought an mg3222 printer and i don't know how to figure out how to use air print with my ipad and ipad minis. Can anybody help??? Thanks

    Hello.
In order to use the printer with your iOS devices, please make sure that the units are all connected to the same WI-Fi router.  Once this has been done you should be able to print.
The initial Wi-Fi setup of the MG3222 would have to be done from a compatible Windows or Mac OSX computer.

  • Air printing from an iPad without wifi service

    Hi
I only have an iPad2 . I don't have a computer or wireless net work at my home. Will an air port express allow me to print to my wireless Epson Artisan 730 directly without wifi service at my home? And why doesn't my iPad recognize my printer?  I thought I would be able to print directly from my iPad2 to my printer which is a compatible air printer with the iPad. Thanks for any help.

The iPad and Airprint printer must be on the same Wifi network.  If you don't have a Wifi network, you won't be able to use AirPrint.  In other words, the iPad does not communicate directly with the printer.
Regarding the AEX, you may be able to use it to set up a small Wifi network, from which you could connect the iPad and the Artisan 730 via AirPrint.  One potential issue is that you likely will have to upgrade the firmware in the Printer in order to use AirPrint, and you would need internet access to get that upgrade.  Since you do not own a computer, I assume you do not have internet access either?

  • 8600 Pro N911g Product No CN579A and Air Print

Can someone from HP confirm that 8600 Pro N911g Product No. CN579A does not support Air Print? It looks like only 8600As are compatible. I am getting Printer not found error on my ipad2 and 3 but every once in a while it does find the 8600 Pro. Thank you.
I have no trouble printing from my mac book wirelessly.

    Hi,
The N911g should be compatible as shown in the following list:
       http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
(Don't ask me why HP has 8600 and then 8600A).
    Please check this to fix:

    Good luck.

  • AIR PRINT ON 6 YR OLD PHOTO SMART 7250

MY IPAD WITH IOS 5.1 WILL NOT RECOGNIZE MY 6 YEAR OLD 7250. DO I HAVE ANY OPTIONS OTHER THAN UPGRADING TO A NEW EPRINT CAPABLE PRINTER?

    Q,
    See this:
    Airprint compatible printers
EDITS:  Cancel below this line -- You are only interested in AIR PRINT -- none of this matters to AIR PRINT.
Do you already have an old version of the HP ePrint APP on the iPad?
    OR
Can you upgrade the iOS on the iPad to iOS 6 ??
HP ePrint APP in the Apple Store requires iOS 6.
Those of us running iOS 5.1.x and having an older version of the ePrint mobile app are OK - if you have to download the ePrint app now, you will end up with the newer ePrint 5.4 version and must needs be using the newer OS as well.
I did see (at the Apple App Store) that there is a Microsoft ePrint version of the software that can be purchased for $2.99 -- and IT says it works on iOS 5.1.1.  That means if you at least had a printer the app could reach, you could at least use the paid app on your iPad.  Whether the paid app works or does what you want is another story and one I cannot answer.
    Rats.
You may want to do some more homework and then decide on the printer package.  You probably do want the ePrint printer -- but you need to decide on the iPad OS and the App bits, too.

It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

  • Print from my iPad without an air print

HOw can I print from my iPad without an air print? I have a hp wireless printer

Well, only because Apple originally advertised AirPrint to work with any printer connected to a computer on the same network, and then modified it before release to work only with the few compatible AirPrint printers. AirPrint Activator is a little application you install on your computer that basically restores the functionality that Apple was originally going to build in. Not sure if that's considered "illicit" on these boards.
    Here's the link:http://netputing.com/airprintactivator/
It's shareware. I've been using it for over a year now. If you're running Lion, you'll need to download the beta version 2. Once installed (and a few set-up steps are taken in your sharing preferences), your iDevices will see any printers connected locally or by network to your computer, through the normal AirPrint function.
