C4580 wireless connection 2 laptops

Have 2 Toshiba laptops.
One is Satellite A135-S4527 running Windows Vista Home Premium.
The second is a Satellite C455-S5975 running Windows 7.
Also have a HP Photosmart C4580.
They are networked.
Originally had a D-Link routed. Everything worked fine until router died.
Bought a Linksys Router model WRT120N.
After much difficulty have both laptops running smoothly.
Problem is with the printer. No problem with the Vista computer. It prints fine.
But cannot get the Windows 7 computer to print.
Anyone have a suggestion?

Hi,
On Windows 7 PC, click Start->Control Panel->Devices and Printers, click 'Add Printer', click  Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer.  It shows Wireless Printer entry, click Install, click replace driver, if asks. Check test print
Thank You.

Did your wireless card get turned off? Most laptops have a switch or a key that you press to turn the wireless on and off?

  • WRT54G dropping wireless connection on laptop

My laptop (WinXp SP2) is frequently loosing it's wireless connection to my WRT54G router.  It seems to happen on a random basis.  Sometimes, I'll boot the laptop and I'll have my connection, sometimes I won't have it.  When I have the connection, I may loose it for no apparent reason.  It may happens even when my laptop is near the router.  There's no wireless phone close.  Microwave is not working. I'm in an appartment so it might be a wireless channel problem.  I have yet to try that.
I have the lastest firmware upgrade (8.00.2).  I have activated WPA2 security and MAC filtering.  I'm using aes for WPA entryption method.  Naturally, I have downloaded the microsoft patch for WPA2 on the portable. I have tried to change the MTU size to 1498 instead of 1500 to see if anything would change. From my tests, the default value was right on anyway.  I have tried without WPA2 security (just MAC filtering) and I still got the same problem.
I also have a Wii which is connected wirelessly to my router who experience the same problems.  My desktop computer is wired connected to my router and never has any problem.  So it's really just a wireless problem.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?
    Thanks

try to change the wireless channel, you could choose from 1-6-11 i suggest 11...and try to check the advnced wireless settings set the beacon interval=50 fragmantation threshold=2304 and RTS threshold=2304
with the mac filtering that you have make sure that the MAC addres of your wireless computer is properly saved there...

  • Wirelessly connecting Windows laptops to an iMac G5 to share files Interne

I am wondering if someone could tell me how I can share files with windows PCs wirelessly but also securely. I have setup a network so that Windows PCs can access my iMac G5 that connects to the Internet through the airport card. I can get the windows PCs (laptops) to access the Internet through my iMac G5's airport card but I also want to share files back and forth wirelessly between the Windows PC laptops and the iMac G5. I am able to view all my iMac G5 files on my Windows PCs but that's not what I want. Isn't there a way to make it more secure so that only a shared folder is available for access by the Windows PCs? Right now if I go into Windows and setup a "My Network Places" then the PC has access to all those files on my iMac and that's not what I want. At this point someone with access to my iMac G5 could just wipe out everything. Not secure at all.
Could you guys give a novice some pointers?
I am still having problems with this. I can get my laptop to share my internet connection with my mac, but once I set a password on my Mac--well I can't get my laptop to connect. It is quite strange.
Someone suggested me to look here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1161.html
I tried to follow the directions on the link he suggested, but I'm using OS 10.3.9, so maybe that is the reason the directions are not exactly the same for my system.
Right now, I can open the System Preferences, go to Sharing preferences, turn on windows sharing...but that's as far as I can get.
Do you know if there is any document that can show me how to securely share files with a windows PC for my version of Mac OS?
I would also like a way to share files from my iMac to the Windows PC as well.
I have successfully been able to get my Windows Vista laptop sharing the internet connection with my iMac. The problem is that this connection is insecure, so therefore anyone can connect.
I have no idea and have not had luck finding any fix for this by browsing/search the knowledge database.
How can I set it so that anyone that wants to use the shared Ethernet connection (via my airport) has to input a password?
Every time I try to associate a password with the connection, my laptop is unable to share the connection any longer.
Windows will just tell me that the wireless connection is incompatible because of the security features of that network. It doesn't even ask me to input the password.
Besides this, I still am unable to get the file sharing to work. Is this because I'm also trying to share an internet connection between the two computers?? or...
After working on this problem for awhile, I've found some helpful information on the web that refers to connecting a Vista computer to a MAC with OS 10.5. Even though this is the case, I got my iMac to share it's internet connection and now I'm able to access the Windows vista laptop files on my iMac. I still, however, am unable to access the files on my iMac through the laptop. I've followed all the info on this website:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3022.html
but I'm still not having any luck.

  • Problems with wireless connection to laptop.

Last night I just bought a Wireless-G Broadband Router with Speedbooster with a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2101 laptop. My plan was to take the internet connection from our cable modem hooked up to our desktop, and create wireless internet for the laptop to use.
Everything was hooked up just fine and on the laptop it even says that the signal strength is excellent and that the wireless connection is working, but the "Local Area Connection" seems to be disconnected or not working. I have no idea what that problem is but everything seems to be working just fine besides that. That's what I believe is holding me back from using the internet on my laptop. If you can help me out with this problem I'll be VERY happy, because frankly this is making me mad.
I'll answer any questions you may have.

The problem there is that the router is not yet properly configured for the internet connection that's why it's not working.
Connect your laptop directly to the modem and if you're onlien go toi www.linksys.com/connect and download easy link connect on your computer and run it with the same connection and it will automatically configure the router for your wired and wireless internet connection.

  • C4580 Wireless Connection Problem

I read over the posts and didn't see anything related to my problem so here goes.  After scanning about 8 pictures with the C4580,the C4580 lost wireless connectivity  It suggested I try scanning from the PC.  In my printer and fax window, it showed as being Ready, and I was able to scan one picture from starting from the PC, then I lost connectivity (wireless).
    That was the first problem.
The second was trying to re-install all the software.  But thats another post I guess.  I had second thoughts about buying an HP product and I should have gone with my first instinct and bought a Brother All-in-One.  This is the second HP product I purchased, (the last one was several years ago), and I thought that the products and support would have improved.  I'd like to fix these problems instead of going through the hassle of a return.

    hi,
is it the same case when it comes to printing? would it disconnect as well while printing multiple docus?
try to check on the firewall, virus protection and spyware programs and allow the printer to go through.
try checking for critical updates to improve connectivity with the printer. check the link below:

  • MI424WR Reb I Gigabit router droping wireless connection with laptop

I have the Actiontech MI424WR Rev I router with firmware 40.19.22 which it came with.  The connection on my HP Pavilion dv7 using Vista 64 bit professional.  The wireless connction to the router keeps dropping - I need to disconnect and then re-connect to it.  I have also had a problem with my wired PC where I needed to unplug the router and plug it back in so that I could get out to the internet.
The prior MI424WR Rev C worked perfectly for years and years.  But - I wanted the faster 801.11n speed to I purchased the Rev I Gigabit version.
I have reset my card through Windows yesterday - but - I am still having problems.  I use the Acronis True Image Home backup software.  Anytime I try to run a verify of my backup - bang - my signal is dropped - the backup verify stops - I disconnect and then reconnect - it starts up for a while and drops again.
After a day or 2 without trying to perform a verify - the signal is still dropped.
I have no idea what to do next.
I use the WPA2 AES as my security to the router.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My personal suspicion is that you really have several  issues, The Acronis software driver behaves like a hardware device (and in fact shows up as one when it is running). That leads me to suspect there may be a conflict between the Acronis device driver and the wireless card driver. You have not mentioned what version of True Image you are using. Is it the latest, and have you contacted Acronis?
The dropping of the Wi-Fi connection is generally the result of one of two things happening. Signal interference (is the card in laptop a true 802.11n dual band card?). If it isn't, the 2.4 Ghz band is rife with sources of interference. That is less of a problem with dual band units because the 5Ghz band has more 'real estate', and few users, but still possible.
The other issue is that it may be a power management issue. Do you lose the connection when running of the AC adapter, or only on battery, or both. If it works on AC power but drops on battery, it is probably a power management issue, and you may have to tweak the power management settings. I have  seen many battery powered devices time out for inactivity with surprising speed on wireless networks. It is a way of maximizing battery life (and inconveniencing the hell out of the user).
As to the wired pc, that's fort of a chicken-egg problem. It is hard to tell which end the problem is on. When you cannot connect to the internet, is the connection light on the ethernet port on? Will it connect if you just unplg the ethernet cable and re connect it without unplugging the router? In other words it is hard to tell whether it is a software issue, or a hardware issue. Generally the negotiation of the initial ethernet connection (capability and speed) is generally firmware on the ethernet card and port on the router.
I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the encryption settings.

  • IPad2 has slower wireless connection than laptop (netgear router)

I have done numerous speed tests that show my laptop at 5meg and ipad2 always below 1meg. All the similar posts i have read suggest turning off qos on the router but mine doesnt even have that option. Its a netgear 150 and brand new. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me mad!! Thanks

Have you powered off everything and power up again?  Power off printer and router.  Power on router and wait 2 mins.  Power up printer and see if it connects to your SSID.

  • Cisco 1811W stopped allowing wireless connection of domain laptops

I have a Cisco 1811W that after several years in service suddenly stopped allowing any wireless connection to laptops on the domain. It allows hard wired connections and devices that are just using the wireless hot spot like iPads and Iphones but not devices on the domain. These same laptops connect wirelessly without issue at our other facilities which use the same hardware.

It was a two fold problem.  There is another stronger Wi-Fi signal that exists at the facility from another entity on a different domain that the two laptops were trying to associate to in lieu of the network signal from our 1811.  This could only be seen while watching the Intel wireless Proset app NOT the Windows wireless management app.  Then by deleting all other old Wi-Fi networks listed in the Intel Proset app except ours it connected.  Also set devices to never connect to the other signal.  This was not an issue when I brought the laptop to another faciIity without a competing Wi-Fi signal becuase they would connect using the strongest and ONLY Wi-Fi network signal which was ours.

  • HELP! Can't connect on 2 or more wireless connection

I have WRT110 Linksys wireless router. I also have the latest firmware. fw 1.0.04. I have no problems connecting wired connections(2 PCs) and 1 wireless connection. However, when i tried connecting 2 or more wireless connections(3 laptops). All computers gets disconnected. I need to turn off the router again and my computers to get connected but only 2 PCs and 1 wireless laptop... Any help please! I already talked to tech support and no help! We tried to power cycle, reset for 30 secs, remove adapter, cables, etc. and didn't help! Same results! Can't connect on 2 or more wireless connections. We edited the basic wireless setting to WEP/WPA personal, band, channels, still no luck too! Im getting frustrated with this router. PLEASE HELP! I have Time Warner Road Runner cable internet. Thanks in advance!

Try these settings  on Advanced Wireless
settings>>Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304. and Upload the same firmware on the router once again.

  • When use wireless connection the status of CPU will be 100% , hang

I'm using laptop  HP 14-r037tu. When I connect network by using wireless connection, my laptop will hang suddenly and , Blue screen with CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT.
But if i use with network cable (LAN), then no problem at all.
I already tried roll back driver, upgrade wifi driver as latest, scan virus, repair system. What should I do now?

    Hi there @CJch
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you have been getting a Blue screen with the CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT message. I am happy to help with this.
There are a few possibilities you can try, if the drive is readable. First, I would recommend you try to backup any critical data you do not want to lose, if possible.  Have you run any of the BIOS hardware tests on the memory and the hard drive?
Assuming you have the data backed up, then I would start with a System Restore to a point before the problem began.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
If after the restore you are still getting the blue screen, you can try using system recovery to reinstall the factory image. This is why you want the backup, as everything will be overwritten.
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 8)
Let me know if either of those, (hopefully the first one) works for you.

  • BT infinity HH4 wireless connection failing with n...

I got bt infinity set up yesterday and ethernet connection to PC and wireless connection to laptop working fine but i can't connect my second PC which is using a netgear wireless usb adapter WG111v2 to connect; this has been working well with my old BT broadband and netgear router; now it recognises the BThome hub4 network and connects to it successfully but browsers get no internet connection; could this have to do with new encryption WPA2 protocols not supported by the relatively dated WG111v2? do i need to buy another wireless adapter device or can I update the WG111v2 software and drivers? or could there be another problem altogether?
been on the phone with the tech support via Indian call center for almost 2 hours but they could not help
thanks for any help or ideas
    regards
    Patrick

Unfortunately I don't have an HH4 so can only say it's "possible" that the WPA2 on it is AES as that is the most common now. (blame wireless hackers!).
The BT dual band dongle will see you OK.
NOTE if you are running Windows XP you need to optimise your system as XP was never designed for speeds in excess of 30 Mb.
If you need help PM me.

  • Unable to print from my laptop using the wireless connection..

I have configured my HP 3540 series as Wireless printer. The diagnostic tools can detect the printer wirelessly on my laptop and a test page is being printed out without issues. However, when I try to print a document from the same laptop I am unable to get it printed.
I am sure the printer IP is getting detected on the laptop and is configured properly.
What else can I check to resolve this issue.
Note: I get the same issue if I connect the printer through the USB cable provided.

    Hello naveen8549,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues.
I suggest that we start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  Let me know if you see any error codes or messages.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cheers,
