C47450 scanning issues

While installing the software for the HP photosmart c4740, I keep getting esure tcp ports 9290 and 9500 are unblocked.  the computer is a Dell Inspiron 1501, running windows xp service pack 2.  the printer will print fine wirelessly.  The wireless scan function is not working.  I added the two ports in the firewall exceptions list, but it still doesn't work.  Any ideas anyone?

It sounds like the printer is on the network OK, but something in your computer is blocking it.
Did you disable all firewalls and your security system? 
Also, why not upgrade to SP3?  Its free and may help.

  • Acrobat 7 Pro Windows Scanning Issues for Non-Admins

    Hello,
    We have several users that are having scanning issues. WE recently removed administrator rights from our end users and now for some reason Acrobat 7 Professional doesn't show any scanners in the list when they try to create a PDF from the scanner. Windows shows the scanner in the scanners and cameras section of the control panel. Any help would be appreciated.

    I was able to install it on Win 7, even the 64-bit version. But neither AcroTray or the Adobe PDF print driver for AA 7 works on Win 7. That means you have to use workarounds to get things done if you succeed in installing. it is time for you to probably buy a new copy.

  • Officejet 5740 Scanning Issue

    I am having scanning issues.  I just purchased this printer in February 2015.  I am trying to figure out how I can use the document feeder to scan.  When I place the documents into the document feeder and press scan and then choose the networked computer I want to scan to, the document feeder will not feed the documents onto the glass.  The scanner scans (with no document on the glass) and I get a blank scan sent to the computer as a .jpg.  I want the scans to come through as .pdf.  So in theory this is a 2 part question.
    1.  How to scan using the document feeder?
    2.  How to save the scan as a .pdf?

    Thanks for your help.  I figured that out on my own, not the resolution I was hoping for.  Sometimes I bring my work laptop home and didn't want to install the Full Software onto my work laptop.  But if that is the only way I can resolve my issue, then I guess it will have to be done.

    Several posts have been discussing the recent changes in the Gmail security parameters and the issues it is causing with their multi-function devices. We are hoping this information will get you scanning once again with an alternate method while the email issue is being researched.
    This focuses on the WorkCentre7120 7125 product family in relation to the scan to email feature with Gmail in which the Xerox device produces different error and fault codes relating to communication.
    Recent changes in Gmail security parameters have changed the authentication requirement which is causing the Multi-Function Printer to have authentication failures. Gmail has two open Authentication methods (OAuth and OAuth2).
    To isolate the cause of your errors and confirm if the issue is the Gmail server authentication, please use this test which will take you through each of the steps. If the telnet test fails as outlined, then the options are to install scanning to a network folder or to a mailbox (folder).
    These instructions are intended for an advanced user.
    Perform a Telnet Test to Confirm the Cause of the Issue and Review Alternate Scanning Methods
    The Gmail Scanning Issue document also includes step by step (all with screen shots) on other forms of scanning the device supports (essentially alternative methods).
    The issue is now in Engineering and a possible resolution is being developed but supplied in the linked document above are alternate methods of scanning for customer use.
    NOTE – This does not address or outline the use of any other ”free” email providers.

    I just upgraded my computer to the new Windows 10 and since the upgrade i hav'nt been able to use my printer and scanner. It comes up with errors saying software not installed and errors with connecting with scanner. Is there an upgrade available?

    Welcome to the HP Community , I wanted to pop by to help you with the scanning issue you're having with Windows 10. You should be able to run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows, which will search for the correct drivers and software for your printer on the new OS, and install the scanning software as a part of the package. Try scanning when you are done installing, and let me know what happens! Good luck

    I am getting the error messages in my windows 8 machines "The scanner is currently in use. Please wait until your previous task is completed and then try scanning again." I have a HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP printer which is connected to the network and users connected to the network through wifi. I have installed the latest driver versions from hp.com. It will work for some time but again will face the same issue. In Windows 7 machines, there are no issues.If anybody is having solution to this problem please share.Thank you.

  • Scanning Issue

    I am using a hp laptop with Windows 8.1 to print and scan wirelessly to a hp LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw.  I can print wirelessly from my laptop, but can no longer scan to the MFP.  I receive a message that says :"Cannot communitcate with device".  I've tried using the hp scan app, Picassa, and Paint - same result.   I've tried to resolve this issue but can't find a solution that helps.  I've downloaded updates for the "Print and Scan Doc", but still can't find a fix.  I can't understand why I can use Picassa and Paint to communicat a print job but not a scan job within the same machine.  Any ideas?

    I see that you are experiencing issues scanning from Windows 8.1. I would like to help.
    Access the device manager window, to see if the scanner driver is listed under Imaging Devices.
    How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
    Click on View across the top and select show hidden devices.
    Open imaging devices, it should list the printer name there. If the printer is listed as pnp, right click and update the scanner driver. Let me know how the printer was listed.
    Check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services:
    In desktop mode, press the Windows key and R at the same time, to show the run command line.
    Type services.msc and then click OK..
    In the Services window, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service, and then click Properties.
    Click the Dependencies tab.
    Make sure that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Shell Hardware Detection are listed, and then close the Properties window.
    In the main Services window, make sure that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Shell Hardware Detection show as Started in the Status column. If they do not, continue to the next step to start the service.
    In the Services window, right-click Windows Image Acquisition.
    If the option to start the service is available, click Start.
    If the option to stop the service is available, click Stop. When the service stops, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) again, and then start the service.
    Close the Services window.

    Windows: HP Scan Software Does Not Open or Scan on a Printer Using a USB Connection.
    Disregard the title. Go to Solution three: Check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services.
    Temporarily turn off any Antivirus Software, just to make sure it isn't interfering.
    Try scanning again from the HP Scan Software.
    If you are still having issues then check that the scanning ports on the router to make sure that they are open.
    A router update may have blocked the scanning port.
    You can contact the router company to check and open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.
    Can you scan by a USB connection?
    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor previously? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
    Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • HP LaserJet M1522nf Multi Page Scanning Issues

    OS: Win 7 Home 64bit
    When I try to scan documents in PDF format on the multi page scanner, the pages does not feed into the scanner. The wheels on the scanner just turn. It is almost as though the printer does not recognize there are pages in the multipage scanner. I do not experience any problems whatsoever with the flatbed scanner.
    Being stationed on Afghanistan it is not simple a case of taking it to the closest technitian.
    I have restarted the computer, the printer, Adobe PDF but nothing solves the problem.
    Then I also get a message: "HP FX Toolbox has stopped working." when I start or restart the computer. How do I fix this problem?
    Appreciate the help.

  • Laserjet MFP scan issue

    Laserjet 1536mfp will not scan after windows 8.1 upgrade. Receive a message which says that scanner communication cannot be established. I have turned off the the firewall and it makes no difference.
    It prints fine.
    What can I do?

    I see that you are having issues scanning since updating to Windows 8.1. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
    Did you uninstall and reinstall the printer software after the update?
    Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
    If you are still having issues, uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer Drivers.
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-All-in-One - N911n - WORLDWIDE CROOKED ADF SCAN ISSUE

    I must say that I am extremely annoyed at the shear volume of how many people have shared the same exact issue as I have with this product, yet there has STILL not been any kind of product recall or acceptable fix/replacement. This issue is over 3 years old (at least for me). It is blaringly obvious this product is flawed when it comes to the ADF and producing crooked scans. I believe the paying public is sick and tired of getting the same response (clean it, etc). THIS IS A HARDWARE ISSUE! Why is HP not taking the appropriate actions for this product? I have never read so many complaints on the same exact issue (even fresh out of the box) and then NOT have a company recall the product. This is beyond terrible customer service.
    So, where do we go from here? Just eat it and save our money for a different product from another vendor? As I am sure I share the list with all the others whose warranty has well expired, but as these issues have been present since day one, why does warranty even matter at this point?
    Why can I not return this product for a new model?

  • HP Utility and Scanning issues with Officejet Pro 6830

    I purchased a 6830 several weeks ago and have been using it for general wireless printing from my Mac for serveral weeks with no problems.   Today I wanted to try scanning, and for the first time brought up the "HP Utility" and noticed that it connects to the printer, but lists the supplies as "Cartidge is missing" for all the cartridges.   However, when I go to the front panel of printer and select the "ink" icon, it show that I have all cartridges installed with almost full ink.   I perform a "test print" from the printer queue and it prints it fine.   
    I removed the driver and reinstalled, and got the same results (evern with multiple reboots, and printer power resets)
    In addition, when I try to do a ether a scan to computer from the printer, or from the HP Scan utility I get a failure.  From the scan utility. Using scan to computer, I select my Mac and the process starts (and a little window pops up on my Mac for a few seconds), but eventually the printer gives a message that it lost contact with the computer.   
    Yes the "Enable Scan to Computer" box is checked, and there is a green "Scan to Computer Enabled" indicator in the HP Utility window.
    I've followed various appropriate trouble shooting guides but nothing appears to work.
    Also checked if the Printer Firmware was up to date and it was.
    When I connect using the Webinterface to the printer,  the productinformation->printer information page show that the cartidges are installed, and "ink guage" has appropriate levels.
    Also, webscan does not appear to work, although it pops up an empty pdf page, and I can hear the printer doing something (although not feeding the pages)

    HP Inkjet 4 Driver 4.2.0
    OS X : 10.10.1

    Hi,
    First of all open System Preferences and select Sharing.
    Ensure the computer name doe snot include any Non-English or special characters, click on Edit and change it if necesary.
    Next clcik the Apple icon and then About This Mac.
    Clcik on Software Update and then clcik the top Store Menu.
    Select Reload This Page and install any listed HP or Apple Updte if a such exists.
    If thwe same persists a such may also happen due to network issues...
    What exact error appears while launching a scan from the HP Scan application or from Image Capture?
    A such may allow to better understand any possible cause.
    As well try enabling wireless direct on your printer and connect the Mac to the printer:
    Click the Wireless Direct icon () and turn it on, take a note of its passcode.
    From your Mac click the WiFi icon and select the printer's network
    Note: if a such is not listed click on Join Other Network and then Show Networks, then it should be listed.
    Allow it a moment to connect and try scanning from your Mac, as well try checking the ink levels now.
    If those are working as expected, the issue may rely on your home network.
    Please clarify your router brand and model, I will do my best to guide you further.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m scanning issue

    I've been using this printer for years and it's always worked great except the wireless part didn't work.  I decided to re-install the CD and it still doesn't work (which I don't care about) but now when I use the scanning feature I get an error message "the program could not find any available destination to which the scans can be sent".  It will scan to a TIF image but I need a PDF scan.  I'm using Windows 7 and the printer has been connected to my computer via a USB cable.  I've tried re-installing the CD twice and rebooting the computer, unplugging the printer and nothing works.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I would like for you to look at and try some steps that have been posted by a Microsoft Support Engineer (Vijay B) in the link below. The steps listed should help you fix the Windows Installer Package error 1722 you are getting when installing. Afterwards try running the install again.

  • HP "another program has control of the device" Scanning Issue on Mac OSX 10.8.5

    I am running an HP C7200 series all-in-one on a Mac OSX 10.8.5 system. Everything has worked fine for years. Suddenly when I got to fax using HP Scan I get the following message: The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device. This may be the result of a recent Mac update, but I'm not sure. I have tried many solutions from forums, including: restarting the program, restarting the printer while holding down the OK and Help keys, and installing RC Default Apps 2.1 and disabling the bundle extension preference. I have not yet uninstalled and reinstalled my HP software because I'm afraid something else will get messed up. 
    Also, I can scan by doing the following tedious chore. Open up the Systems Preferences, click on Print & Fax, click on Scan, Click on Open Scanner, click on Show Details, then fill in the scanning details. It's a pain compared to opening up HP Scan and clicking on scan. I can also scan via Image Capture but it also doesn't offer some of the nice features of HP Scan.
    Any other solutions?

    Welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you are having an issue with not being able to fax.
    As you stated , this could be caused by a Mac update.
    I suggest that we do an uninstall of the software and drivers and then while the unit is uninstalled, we then reset the printing system.  Here is a link on How to reset the printing system.  Once the reset is complete, I also suggest we Repair disk permissions.
    The next step would be to reinstall the printer on to the Mac.  Here is the link for the HP Print Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
