C4795

Just picked this up, the install was straight forward but after a HP auto-update, the software continuesly tries to install itself, opening countinuous "install" windows until I manually shut down the software.
Any ideas before I return this to the store for a refund?

  • Saving scanned doc error message when using Mac Maverick with HP Photosmart C4795

When I use HP Scan to scan documents with my HP Photosmart C4795 it scans fine.  The problems comes when I try to save the scanned document. I get one of two things, an error message or black document.  I get an error that states "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only.  I know that's the location is not read only because I save documents there all the time from other programs.    When I get the black document, I open the file and its a black page with white lines going across.
This started happening when I upgraded to Maverick.  When I had snow leopard I didn't have this problem.  I looked for update drivers and there aren't any available on the HP software & drivers webpage.  HP help! Any suggestions please help.

    Hi,
That happens due to lack of compatibility of the HP Scan application for your device with Mavericks, it is not intended for the operating system and will cause issues while saving a file.
Be sure to run Software Update, then scan using Image Capture or Preview as listed below.. those are the scan solutions provided for Mavericks:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03550518&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...
Once you launch Image Capture, I would suggest keeping it on the dock for easier access.

I have an HP C4795 printer and HP windows 7 and the printer will not work using firefox. it works fine in IE. I had trouble with firefox crashing yesterday so i uninstalled and reinstalled and printer won't work. worked fine in firefox before my ordeal yesterday.

I see you started another question thread - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/888892 - so I guess your problem isn't resolved.
If it is trying to print to an XPS file, your printer isn't selected as the destination for print. You need to select you printer in the Printer - Name box. See the screenshot.

  • Problem with HP Photosmart C4795 Printer

I'm having difficulties with getting my C4795 to print.  The feed rollers are operating more than usual.  Whenever I turn the printer on it feeds the paper without any job being initiated.  When I try to start a print job oftentimes the printer will feed the paper either halfway or completely without printing at all.  The only one I've been print at all is to individually feed a single paper at the right moment when the feed rollers are operating.
My HP software is up-to-date and I've no new Windows updates.  I've unstalled and reinstalled my HP printer software.  I've ran the HP diagnostic printer utility and it reported no problems.  I have this problem no matter whether I connect to the printer via USB cable or wireless.
Does anyone have suggestions or solutions for fixing to this problem?

  • All-In-One C4795 won't print straight...! Ugh!

I have a C4795 All-In-One Printer that worked fine up until about a month ago.  I tried to print a document, and when the printer pulled the paper in, it pulled it in crooked, even though the guides were aligned to make the paper straight.  Then, when the document printed, there was about 1 1/2 inches at the top of the paper that are just gone -- it doesn't matter what type of document I print, it's missing that top section and the entire page is printing crooked.
Here's what I've done so far (and none of these things have helped at all):
I have opened the back of the printer up, looked inside with a flashlight and can't see anything that would be causing a paper jam.
I have taken the old paper out, put in fresh, new paper, and still get the same results.
I have resinstalled my software that came with the printer, but still get the same results.
I have used compressed air to clean any lint / dust out of the inside of the printer, but still get the same results.
I have performed a full/partial reset from the menu on the front of the printer, but still get the same results.
I pushed the paper in a little farther, thinking that it might be "catching" on something inside the printer that I can't see, but that didn't help.
I have cleaned the rollers inside.
I don't know what else to do.  I haven't ever had trouble with this printer before and this started happening out of the blue.  Any ideas / suggestions / help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks so much!
    Beth

The compressed air will generally not clean the rollers properly, try the procedure in this page.

  • C4795 fails to print full pages, quits about 1/3 through first page and stops.

I purchased an HP Photosmart C4795 all in one device last summer, and used it rarely, but when I needed to use it again, it started giving me many many problems. I use ubuntu linux 10.04 and windows XP. It doesn't install right under XP, so I thought I'd just use linux when I needed to print, problem solved, but now it doesn't even print right under linux. When I unplug the power cord (the only way to shut it off, it locks up when I hit the power button), and then plug it back in, I can get a test page to print correctly once, then it fails. When I try to print a document, webpage, or pdf, it prints about 1/3 of the first page, fades to white, prints one blank page and cancels the job. Furthermore, the touchscreen pushes buttons on its own, which gets really annoying. If it matters, I plug the printer into my computer through the USB, but the little screen tells me that the wifi is on, even though it's not connected to a network and I can't find how to turn wifi off.
This is all after I dealt with an "incompatable print cartridge" problem despite having the orignal cartridges that came with the printer, forcing me to buy a brand new cartridge while the first one was still fine. ( I checked and cleaned the print heads)
I know it doesn't affect my printer, but this forum is difficult to register for and hard to find anything that may be related to my problem.
How do I fix this without buying a new printer? If I have to buy a new one, it won't be an HP, I use Brother HL-2170W printers in the lab and they have never given me problems, so I think I'll get one of those if I can't sort out these HP issues.

Hi - A couple of things to check:
    - First, verify that the K8600 is the default printer driver or the selected printer in whatever program you're printing from (probably is, but wanted to double check).
    - Second, in many cases this is a communication related issue (even if it is intermittent).  Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable from both the printer and computer.  If that doesn't resolve it, I'd try another USB cable.
    Hope that helps.

I have a HP C4795 and I can not get it to print in color from windows gallery. What can I do? I've look at the settings and it's on color but it will not print on regular or photo paper in color. I can print picture off the internet in color. HELP!

I would guess that the printer preferences in Windows Gallery are set for either grayscale or black only. If it prints color from everywhere else, then it lies within Windows Gallery.

  • C4795 Wireless Setup Issue

Please help.  I have a HP C4795 that I'm trying to figure for wireless access.  It is currently set up on my home network to a Windows XP printer and all other PCs have access to it.
However, I want to make sure it's wirelessly connected as well.  I followed the set up instructions and it found my home network, which consists of a Linksys WRT54 G network with WPA-PSK encryption.  The Network Configuratnoi page shows it discovered my 802.11 network. However, the Wireless Network Test Report passes the first five tests (Wireless on, wireless working, Network name found, Security, printer settings consistent with router settings) but fails at the NO FILTERING step.
It states that MAC Address filtering may be enable on my wireless router and must be disabled or the MAC address added to the table.  It is NOT enabled.  Other threads indicate there's another conflict but it's not specific.
HP Support via email tells me nicely "tough luck, we don't do routers".  Any ideas?

I assume you rent this router?  That is the problem.  Rented routers are good for little more than getting PC's on the Internet.
Don't worry about the firmware (software that resides on a device that is not a computer) update for now.
    Do this:
Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router (using the printer software).
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.

  • Trouble connecting C4795 printer wirelessly

Ok, so here it what I have:
    Photosmart C4795 printer
    Mac Mini w/ OS X 10.9.5
    Cisco DPC3825 router
I have tried everything under the sun to connect this printer wirelessly to my computer to no avail.  I have searched the internet high and low for a solution, but have found nothing.  Please help me with this issue.

    Hello @Greentarpon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are experiencing issues when trying to configure your HP Photosmart C4795 All-in-One Printer for wireless printing with your Mac OS X 10.9.5 computer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this network connectivity issue. Now, just so you are aware, HP actually doesn't have a downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver package available for your model of printer on the Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System due to the age of your printer. Therefore, we will be relying on your Apple Updates to load all the software and drivers onto your Mac computer for you printer. Also, because there is no HP downloadable Full Feature Software and Drivers there is no wireless setup for your Mac computer. Therefore, you have two options:
Option 1: Use a supported Operating System to configure the wireless on your printer. Once the wireless is configured on your printer than you simply add (+) your wireless bonjour printer into your Mac OS X 10.9 computer.
    Supported Operating Systems include:
    Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X 10.5, Mac OS X 10.6, and Mac OS X 10.7
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1
Option 2: Run the Push Button or Pin methods of configuring wireless. These options will only work if your router has this capability.
How to Configure Wireless with Push Button Method:
    1. On the control panel Home screen, touch the button next to Scan.
    2. Touch the button next to Wireless Menu
    3. Touch the button next to WPS.
    4. Touch the button next to Push Button. The printer begins a timer that lasts approximately two minutes to allow time to press the WPS button on the router.
    5. Press the WPS button on the router. The printer connects to the network.
    6. Touch OK on the printer control panel.
How to Configure Wireless with Pin Method:
    1. On the control panel Home screen, touch the button next to Scan.
    2. Touch the button next to Wireless Menu.
    3. Touch the button next to WPS.
    4. Touch the button next to PIN. The PIN displays on the control panel. The printer begins a timer that lasts approximately two minutes to allow time to enter the WPS PIN.
    5. Enter the PIN on the router.
    6. Touch Start. The printer displays a PIN.
    7. Touch OK on the printer control panel.
Once the printer and router are connected, by either the Push Button or Pin Methods, than you simply add (+) your wireless bonjour printer into your Mac.
    How to Install the software
Click the Apple menu (), and then click System Preferences. The System Preferences window opens.
Click Print & Scan. The Print & Scan window opens.
Click the plus sign (). The name of your printer displays.
    Click Add Printer or Scanner.
Select your printer, and then click Add.
Click Install, and then click Agree on the software license agreement window to install the software and add the printer to the queue.
After the installation process completes, verify that your printer displays in the queue.

Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your connectivity issues. Should you prefer to run through Method 1 on a supported Operating System, please let me know what Operating System you have on the supported computer  (What's my OS?) and I will provide you with detailed wifi configuration instructions. Good luck!

  • Photosmart C4795 dozes off

Today I finally decided to use the C4795's wireless function on my home network.  Everything connected fine wirelessly, and as I go from computer to computer they could all see it and installed the software for it.
The trouble is that after a period of time, say 5-10 minutes, the printer itself starts acting up.  As in, it either gets terribly slow or stops responding altogether.  Rebooting the printer does the job each time, but what a pain that whoever would like to print something will likely have to reboot the printer before doing it.  So I am asking for assistance resolving this issue.
I am not a wireless or networking newbie, so I have that going for me.  I have tried everything that makes sense.  The printer is assigned a static DHCP IP address via the router to 192.168.1.102.  No firewalls or virus software to speak of that could be hanging it up.
I am convinved that the printer itself is the issue.  On reboot I can type its IP address and get the printer's network menu.  Five minutes later, I try to do the same and the screen hangs.  I verify with the router the printer is still connected, and it is.
I noticed there was a firmware upgrade for certain serial numbers, so I downloaded that and attempted to try it.  However, every time I get an error message that the printer could not be detected.  This includes if I have the printer mainlined into the computer and fully installed with a USB cable, so what gives with that?  (Note that having it installed via USB works 100% perfect.)
Any ideas?  Is the printer dozing off?  The only thing I can think to try next is to assign a static DHCP IP address via the printer's settings instead of the router's.

OK, I have a few ideas.  One is to use the printer's settings to set a static IP outside the DHCP range:
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
What brand/model router are you using?  Does it have updated firmware?  This is often a router problem.
Also, MAC filtering is not very secure since it sends the MAC addresses in the clear.  Read more here.  Turn MAC filtering off as a troubleshooting step...

  • Photosmart C4795 won't print (most of the time)

I have a Photosmart C4795 installed on two computers, one with XP, the other Vista. The installation(with the Vista computer) went smoothly, along with all tests and some documents of my own, and on the XP one. After a few months it started giving me a "paper not found issue". I discovered I needed to push hard enough to get the paper in far enough, but not too far. Now (on the XP computer) it says its printing, pulls in the paper and then sits until I get an error message on my computer. I went through all the guided solutions and none worked. The XP computer is an HP Mini 1000, and updating HP doesn't change anything.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I managed to get it working by sending the document a second time, then cancelling the errored print job on my computer, and after it was cancelled on the computer cancelling on the printer. The moment the paper ejected I placed it on the paper tray at a point an inch away from where I was told to in the animations. Then it started on the second print job and worked (it stopped because I only had one page, but resumed when I placed the paper at the same spot and pushed OK.) If the whole problem was in fact where I was placing the paper I wish the animations would show proper positioning.
If anyone needs assistance or clarification on how I made it work again please reply.

  • Have C4795 Photosmart printer. When printing 4X6 photos , the print starts halfway across the paper

When printing 4 X 6 photos on C4795, printing starts halfway across the paper, leaving
a half-page of blank.  How do I realign to correct this?
    Thanks, John

Binary Zen - thanks for your reply.  I'm using iPhoto on a brand new iMac.  Just upgraded from an iMac G5 that I've been using
for 6 years.  So, new software.  Also new printer, to me, just set up on wireless network.  I had successfully printed photos on this printer using my old iMac, but the new iPhoto software is different, and doesn't seem to give me some of the print options I'm used to, such as selecting 'draft' for quick and dirty printing, etc.
One interesting note: I reread the printer manual, which said to slide the left slider against the paper.  That moved the start point on the print to about 1" in from the leading edge instead of half-way across the page.  Now all I have to do is figure out how to move it over another inch.  I'm starting the photo paper exactly on the marks on the paper tray.
    Suggestions welcome!  Thanks, John

    Hi John.
Perhaps it's a printer configuration problem (maybe the paper size is set to a different value than what's in the printer), but you may want to try printing with HP Photo Creations as a test. The program is a free download from www.hp.com/go/hppc, and can load photos from your iPhoto library.
