C5 time-bar in energy saving mode

Hello!  On my E52 the time-bar in energy saving mode shows as it should. In my wife's C5 you can if you really try and look at the screen see that it is activated, but you can't read anything out of it, it's too dark. Can I make the bar more visible or is this some kind of fault with the C5 model? It's really annoying to have to "open" the phone to check missed calls or the time. Otherwise this is a great phone, but this problem is really disturbing.

Just got my phone on Saturday and yeah, I'm finding this annoying.  What is the point of having the power saver/screensaver if you CAN'T SEE IT?
If I peer very close you can just make it out, but it's NOTHING like the "preview theme" when you choose it.
I want to be able to glance at my phone and see the time or what ever on the screen. My old SHARP GX15 could manage it, why not this phone?
Thanks for the tip about pushing the nav button, at least I can stop having to unlock the phone just to see the time now, but I really want my screen saver time! Come on Nokia.

  • Monitor goes to energy saving mode

I have a macbook pro 13" (mid 2010) and i also bought the mini display port to vga adapter from apple, one day the computer went to sleep with and external monitor plugged in, and when i tried to wake up the computer the display still in energy saving mode, y tried typing in the keyboard and clicking but nothing, I had to unplug the external monitor and since then when y try to plug any external monitor (i've tried with several) it always goes to energy saving mode. I have tried installing the Mini DP VGA Update but it doesn't recognize that there is an external monitor plugged in.

VGA Card - ATI Radeon 7200 64 SDR, built by ATI, so there are no problems with it.

  • HP 7252 Wireless & Energy Saving Mode

I recently purchased a new HP 7525 that is wireless only and it tends to go into a sort of hibernation wherein the 802.11n Residential Gateway router reports the deivce MAC is offline.  The Printer is powered on and the auto power saving option disabled but the I've been unable to find a way to disable the Energy Saving Mode which I believe is the culprit.  All PCs (Win7 and MAC Lion with latest update) and iPhone/iPads report no connectivity to printer which is to be expected if the RG reports the device offline.
Any ideas on how to resolve beside powercycling the printer?  Cheers,

Set a static IP in the printer outside the DHCP range of the router.  Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11 never 'auto'.  Power off both.  Power on router, wait 3 mins.  Power on printer and connect.  Now try.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

My AppleTV keeps dimming as if it is in energy saving mode.  My TV and DVD/Netflix player do not do this.  How do I disable the energy saver feature in AppleTV?  BTW:  This is my second AppleTV device so it does not appear to be a product defect.

I keep seeing versions of this same question, and it's always the same answer: it's the TV. Well, it happens to me as well. But it only happens when viewing programming via Apple TV. My cable is totally fine: no dimming. Only with Apple TV. So what's the answer?

  • Is energy saved if in airplane mode while reading iBooks?

Is energy saved in airplane mode while reading iBook?

Your iPad's wifi circuity (and cellular circuitry, if it has any) draw some power whether you're connected to a network or not and whether you're actively transferring data or not. Swithcing to Airplane Mode will save a bit of power in situations where you do not need a network connection.

  • LG Monitor stuck in Power Saving Mode

I just purchased an LG W2252TQ LCD monitor and I am using a mini-dvi to dvi adapter and a DVI cable to connect to the monitor. My macbook detects the monitor, but when I connect it, the monitor enters "Digital Power Saving Mode" and is asleep. No picture whatsoever. - I saw another post who was having similar trouble and he solved it by using a mini-dvi to vga adapter, but I'd prefer to use a digital connection. Any help?

kiamatthews: I bought the same LG monitor for my daughter's MacBook and I couldn't get it to work. Then I read your post and resigned myself to buying the mini-dvi to VGA adapter. Luckily, I stubbornly tried one more time and after a bit of fiddling I finally succeeded in getting it to work. (My daughter has the same setup as you i.e. LG W2252TQ LCD monitor connnected to a MacBook using the mini-dvi to dvi adapter and a dvi cable connected to the monitor.) I'm a relative newbie to Macs, so I'm not sure I've remembered all the steps, but here goes.
When I first connected them, the LG showed the background from the MacBook, but nothing else (no icons, no windows, etc). Eventually I brought up system preferences - displays, and some sort of monitor resolution window appeared on the LG, but it was different than what was on the MacBook. The "displays" window on the MacBook did indicate both the MacBook monitor and the LG, which it showed as 2252TQ or something like that. Anyway, I checked a box labelled "Show displays in menu bar", which then put a monitor icon on the menu bar. When I clicked on that, there was a line allowing me to select "mirror" which I did. Immediately, what was on the MacBook display appeared on the LG. After I picked myself up off the floor, I was able to change the resolution for the LG to its maximum setting and after about 2 seconds of blank screens, it reappeared with everything working as it should.
I hope that the above description is sufficient to get yours to work as well.

  • Downloads don't prevent ML from going into energy savings mode

Since installing ML (clean install) most of the downloads (no matter what program) I do cannot be left unattended because as soon as I leave the computer alone, ML eventually goes into energy savings mode, causing my downloads to cease.
Any idea how to prevent that (other than switching the energy saving off)?

None of the available setting suit my needs. I could turn the settings to "off" anytime I want to download something, but I never had to do this before on my Macs.

  • Yet another temporary freezing problem, energy saving related, maybe

I've followed uncountable suggestions about this issue, but none seem to be quite the same situation, and none of the suggestions I tried made any difference so far.
History: MBP 17" June/2009, 8GB RAM, 500GB Seagate with sudden movement protection, started life as 10.5.7, done at least three fresh reinstalls of SL. The problem was present on the second SL install (the one I really used in production for about a year), but I solved it somehow by following uncountable Google suggestions at the time. Didn't take not of the magic one, because the problem wasn't so predictable at the time, or I didn't know enough about it, and also because I only noticed the problem was gone after a couple of weeks of normal use. Unfortunately, some time ago my filesystem went nuts on a kernel panic and, though I was able to move things back in place from lost+found, a few things wouldn't work as they should, so I went for another fresh reinstall. After I started to use the new system the problem showed up again, but I haven't being able to find a fix for it again. Current system (10.6.4) and patches regularly updated, though I tend to delay a reboot to avoid putting together all my usual windows/applications in the correct desktop/spaces. Maybe the only continuously running extension I have is Growl, since I tend to more heavily use the Unix part of the Mac through MacPorts (latex, tcpdump, nmap, bash scripts, emacs and so on). Recently I installed M$ Office, but normally I prefer OpenOffice (does M$ Office install some sort of extension?)
Frequency: I'm almost sure it is triggered by something related to energy saving regarding turning off the screen, but it doesn't happen every time. When I'm giving a class, the machine runs on battery, the settings for screen off are shorter and if I take too long to generate some input (key press or touchpad action), the problem tends to happen. Interestingly, it's particularly more frequent when I'm giving classes:-):-), but it is happening even on my desk with power on. I'm inclined to think there's a "window of opportunity" for the bug to happen, maybe between screen dim and screen off (a few minutes?). My settings are currently at 15 minutes for the screen to go off, for both power adaptor and battery operation, but that's an attempt to lower the chances of this happening during class, which is terrible. They used to be at only a few minutes of inactivity.
Symptoms: if I try to do anything with the machine past some period of inactivity, maybe during that window I mentioned above, there's a high chance of the bug being triggered. The system responds quickly to clicking a window, but applications don't seem to receive the focus of attention; I notice that the window frame of an application doesn't get darker when I try to select it. On a Terminal, the prompt remains as a rectangular frame instead of a filled block (I use white characters on dark background), and no matter how much I try, I cannot give the focus of attention to the visible shell on Terminal, so I can't issue any shell command to try and find out things. Changing workspaces may happen, but at a very slow speed, maybe many seconds after issueing the command. Eventually the system recovers itself, usually after several minutes, and then all user interface events that I tried during the freeze were remembered and are played sequently as fast as the machine can handle, sometimes doing unwanted things in the process due to objects receiving the wrong action (some sort of desynchronization). The outstanding event that preceeds recovering is the screen being progressively blackened and then lit again, but not instantly as in moving the pointer to a hot corner. The screen transition happens during half to a full second, after which all queued events are played at the fastest possible speed. After that the system is completely normal. In the beginning I have hard-rebooted the machine, because I didn't know it would eventually recover itself. During class I also don't have the patience to wait for long (and neither do students:-)).
    Solutions already tried:
    - disabling sms through pmset. I know it has to be disabled with this particular drive, otherwise conflicts with the drive's own mechanism. It is currently off, and had been on for a while till I refound the suggestion through google.
    - re-indexing Spotlight's DB. No change.
    - fixing file permissions (I don't see any possible relation, but anyway...)
Don't recall what else is missing on this list, because I couldn't find a concrete suggestion for this scenario, so I believe that's about it.
It looks to be more frequent now, to the point that I decided to stop work just to write this long msg, in the hope that someone else may have seen such behaviour and have something new for me to try.
    Thanks in advance.

The problem is that the initial backup is incredibly slow and hasn't worked yet. I right click on the dock icon and start the backup process which after working out what needs to be copied progress's in very slow erratic bursts.
It's hard to offer a definite solution. But there are some simple things you could try to improve the backup speed such as excluding TM backup disk from spotlight indexing (privacy tab in spotlight prefs), and excluding unecessary files and folder from the backup (e.g. applications) in TM prefs.

  • Mirroring LG Monitor stuck in Analog Power Saving Mode

I have a macbook from 2006, and just attained an LG L1900J LCD monitor. When I connect the monitor to my macbook using a DVI to VGA Cable attached to a Mac mini DVI to VGA adapter I get no picture on the monitor and the message "Analog Power Saving Mode" appears before the monitor goes black and then switches into sleep mode.
I have used the Switch application to try and fix the issue, and I have also adjusted the resolution many times as it appears my Macbook recognizes the monitor but an image just won't appear on its screen. I just ordered a Male to Male DVI cable and mini DVI to DVI adapter to see if a digital connection would work. Does anyone know if this will work or of another solution to my problem? Thanks.

So I ordered a Mini DVI-DVI Dynex adapter and Male to Male DVI Cable off ebay for very cheap, and to my surprise, this set-up seemed to shake the monitor out of "Analog Power Saving Mode" into "Digital" since its a digital set-up and now I have a fully functioning, mirroring monitor. So I would suggest switching to DVI to correct your issue.

  • Monitor Goes into 'Power Saving Mode' HDMI

I have an LG monitor (IPS237-BN) which always goes into 'Power Saving Mode' when I connect my MacBook Air to it via a Thunderbolt-HDMI connection.
Sometimes it actually connects and I can mirror my displays (or count it as another), most of the time it doesn't.  I have used different cables etc.  I cannot install the driver because I do not have a CD drive.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • Power Saving Mode In q10

is there a power saving mode in q10?

This is a Blackberry..... the Q10 is the most energy sipping model with the biggest battery.... you don't need a power savings mode.
If you are nomophobic about a dead battery, consider an MoMax battery pack.

  • Blank space above address bar in full screen mode on Mac

    Hi.
Blank space appears above address bar in full screen mode when I bookmark specific web page for the first time after FF start. Only way to hide this space is View->Toolbars->Customize->Done. But it appears each time after FF restarts. Disabling all addons does not help. This problem disappears only in FF safe mode.

  • When will the Verizon HTC One (M8) finally get the Extreme Power Saving Mode software update?

Other carriers (AT&T, Sprint) already have it, but Verizon is taking forever apparently.
When will Verizon customers be able to download and use this new mode?
    Thanks!

I recently bought an HTC One m8 from Verizon, and like many other customers the Extreme Power-saving Feature was one of my keys factors to deciding to buy. I was very disappointed to learn after the fact that Verizon had not included, and has no intention to include the feature in the future. (Mentioned in other threads in the forum). I've read the argument made that Verizon never advertised the feature and never said it would be included with their version of the phone, but they also never went out of the way to warn perspective buyers that the feature, which is part of the m8 phone on other carriers and marketed by HTC as a part of their phone wouldn't be included. When people are researching phones before they decide what to get they read what features the manufacturer(s) have designed and implemented in those phones, not search to find all the things the carrier may have stripped from the phone.
It's impractical and offensive to tell a customer that its his/her responsibility every time they buy a phone from them to dig deep into website forums and look for what they decided to remove from it that the manufacturer had built, and advertised to be in their phone. This is the type of thing that is bad PR for Verizon, and something that will make customers go to other carriers. I don't want to offend some of the nice Verizon employees who want to  help their customers and simply don't have the power to correct the issue themselves, but its in Verizon's best interest to either fix their network to work with this feature, or find/hire someone else who will. Doing it soon before the issue escalates and news of Verizon's statement to do nothing to correct the issue for their HTC One m8 customers spreads like wildfire and burns them.
I hope someone at Verizon doesn't let the rest of the company go on ignoring the issue and steps up to find a  way to enable Extreme Power Saving Mode on the Verizon Network. Right now the impression many people have is something along the lines of: now that you've bought a phone from us, and signed up for a contract with us we don't care what you want and think.
In the meantime it would be a good idea to enable the option in the phone with a popup message when enabled that reads something along the lines of: Verizon has concluded that in some cases Extreme Power Saving Mode can cause network issues. If you experience network issues please disable extreme power saving mode and return to one of the  other power modes. Verizon will continue to research the issue, and will institute a fix if/when a solution is found.
