C6-00 mail for Exchange account consumes a lot of ...

Hi all,
I'm trying to set up push mail for my gmail account. I have tried RoadSync application and built-in 'Mail for Exchange' account in my phone. While RoadSync after one hour of instance connection consumes about 100kB of transfer built-in account consumes mega bytes of transfer. It activates connection every 10-20 sec and send and receive data. In both cases I didn't receive any new message.
Does anyone of you has the same problem and can explain me why my phone is updating all the time? Push mail suppose to receive data only when new email is on my inbox, not all the time. Do you know how to reduce this data consumption? I don't care if my phone reads a lot of data because I have unlimited Internet but it also takes a lot of battery and that's my major problem.
Thanks in advance for your help
Regards,
JaCKubi

I had this same problem with my C6-00 and my older E71. I could not get GMail to successfully syncronise using Nokia Mail for Exchange.
I ended up purchasing another client from the Ovi Store (RoadSync) which works perfectly.
I am not pleased that Nokia's client doesn't work with my service, but the RoadSync client was quite cheap (US$6.60) and hasn't failed me once.

  • Deleting Mail For Exchange Account from Symbian^3

Since buying my C7, I have been playing with the email settings to try and set up the correct account information that works best for my phone. In doing so I have tried both imap and mail for exchange. In the end I plumped for GMAIL imap and deleted all other accounts. Recently I have needed to set up a mail for exchange account again and when I tried to create a new account it confirmed that I could only set up one such account and that I should delete the other.
I looked at my account list but there was only my IMAP Gmail account. I tried switching the phone off and then on again and the email app then confirmed that there was a mail for exchange account. When I tried to view the account settings or make changes it confirmed that it was not possible to access the account at this time.
I tried deleting the account but although it lets me do this, when I try to add a new mail for exchange account I get the same message as per above and the account is recreated when I next switch off / on?
Does anyone know how I can resolve this......or will I need to factory reset?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have managed to sort this now. Obviously one of my previous mail for exchange settings had become corrupted and could then not be updated. To fix the problem I downloaded the Nokia configurator tool (available on the downloads section of this site) and got it to read my settings on the phone. I then unticked everything apart from the mail for exchange settings and manually entered them in the tool. I then sent these settings back to the phone and rebooted the phone. The mail for exchange account then appeared although strangely none of the settings I entered had been sent, but I could then edit the account and get it working. I then deleted the account again on the phone and this completed successfully and would allow me to re-add......phew.
I just need PR1.2 so that I can use mail for exchange lol.

  • Is viewing Mail for Exchange account in Nokia Mess...

I've got a XM5530 with the latest firmware installed. I've downloaded what i thought was the latest version of Mail for Exchange (from the SW update on the phone) v.2.09(208). I saw a v3 available on Ovi.com, but when I downloaded and installed, it still says v2.09(208) on my phone.
My version of Nokia Messaging is also the latest version I can find (10.02(4)).
Both are working fine independantly, but I want to have my Mail for Exchange account in my Nokia Messaging. Is this possible???
I saw online that the latest version of Mail for Exchange supports Nokia Messaging, and when you set up a new email account you get an option to select an 'Exchange' account. But, I don't get this. All I get is enter fields for 'email address' & 'password' which I enter, but it does not recognise my details. (I get no 'exchange' option).
Is this only available on certain handsets. Can I do it on my 5530??
    Please help

    Hello,
Mail for Exchange 3.0 is not (yet?) supported on the 5530.
I am also waiting, does anyone know if Nokia plans to release Mfe 3.0 for  the 5530 ??? Sure hope so, for the moment  I am using 2.9 but the support for subfolders and HTML would be a huge benefit!!

    Filip.

  • Can't Delete or Move Mail for Exchange Account

I am using Mail to connect to my work e-mail.  It's an Exchange account.  Every time I try to move an e-mail I get: "messages could not be moved to the mailbox XXX".  If I try and delete an e-mail message I get "messages could not be moved to the mailbox Trash".  If I click on the question mark on the pop-up dialog, I get :
The selected topic is currently unavailable.
The topic you were trying to view could not be found.
The lack of detailed error message doesn't allow me to send a detailed query to our IT support team.  I don't see how they can help me when I have no details about the error.
I didn't get this error before I upgraded to Lion.  Anyone having similar problems?  Is there a way to get better error messages?
    ...Stephen

I have the same problem regularly and also don't know how Mail can recover from this situation. One way I figured out is to delete the local Exchange folder when Mail is not running. If you then start Mail again it automatically rereads your whole mailbox from the server. But only remove the Exchange mailbox if you have any others .
You can find it at <user>/Library/Mail/
Actually, I have a folder V2 there and my exchange folder is inside this one.
Hope that helps for a quick fix.
Nevertheless, I'm also interested in a "user friendly" solution. It seems that Mail struggles at some points and then dos not resync with the exchange server again. Don't know why, because I thought that the Exchange server is the leading instance for that mailbox. By the way, I had this problem also with Snow Leopard.

  • IOS 8.12 Apple Mail for Exchange Account Deletes Message from Server

Both my computers are set to leave Exchange emails on the server, but I can't find how to set this on my iPhone. So, if I happen to first open a message on my phone, it's no longer available when I open Apple Mail on either of my computers. I need the messages on my iMac and MacBook Pro--not just on my iPhone. How can I change the settings on my iPhone so that Exchange doesn’t delete messages once they're downloaded to the phone? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer. --Bill

Thanks, Glenn. I get as far as the Advanced Settings screen, and there are 3 items for choices:
    • Use SLL - on
    • Move Discarded Messages into:
      Deleted Mailbox - check
      Archive Mailbox - not checked
    • S/MIME
      S/MIME - off
I don't see how I can choose to NOT delete messages. (I'm assuming that the Move Discarded Messages into: Deleted Mailbox is a setting to tell iOS 8 what to do with a message that I choose to delete from my iPhone.)
    Any further guidance?
    thanks,
    Bill

  • N9 after PR 1.2 update - Mail for Exchange is sync...

I have a problem with my N9 Meego after 1.2 update. I have mail for exchange account talking with exchange 2010 server and sync works just just fine with calendar and e-mail. Contacts on otherhand doens`t work. It says its bringing contact like 78 from mail for exchange but when its done you can`t see any.
i have done my account again many times but still contacts aren`t working. Should I do some hardreset but does that uninstall PR 1.2 update?
Help is needed or any ideas what could be done?
    -mika

Hey mate,  As far as I am aware there is no going back from PR 1.2, so you could try hardreset without concern of loosing this update.  Keep in mind you are likely to lose data, so make sure you back it up first.
I am sure of this, as I have tried to go back to PR 1.1 to get my mail exchange to work and even with trying to flash the device "downgrade disallowed" comes up and prevents me getting rid of the PR 1.2
You are luckier than me, I can't get mail, calender or contacts.  I am so annoyed that I accepted the update.  I am hoping that Nokia take note of this and fix the mail exchange in a new update

  • Removing mail for exchange but keeping contacts

Is there any way to remove my Mail for Exchange account, but keep the contacts?
Everytime I remove the mail for exchange account, the contacts get deleted, but I want them to stay on the phone.
If not, I have VCards of the contacts, can I import those?  I can't seem to be able to do this at all.

Still looking for an answer for this.

  • Mail for Exchange, Hotmail and Push Mail

    Hi
I have set up a mail for exchange account on my Nokia E72. I am using hotmail as my mail provider. Everything works pretty fine. My mails and contacts get synchronzized with the phone.
Now, i want to use push mail to instantly receive mails. I am not able to get this feature running. In the options for the synchronization i've selecte under peak days every day of the week. Peak time i from 6:00-22:00 and sync plan is always active.
When i am sending an email to my hotmail account (within peak time) i don't get a push mail, not even after lots of minutes or hours. I have to go in my mailbox and manually press "send and receive" to get my new mails.
How can i get push mail on my E72 for my hotmail account? Many thanks in advance.
    regards,
    MrGonzo

seems like there are no Exchange server administrators in the forum, retro... sorry. I would love to help, though, but I'm just another MfE user.

  • C5 03- Mail for Exchange- Google Calendar

I dont see "Mail for Exchange" anywhere in my c5 03 phone.  I saw in[1] that it is installed automatically when email is set up.  I did that, still I dont see Mail for Exchange and no option to synch my google calendar.  I read in [2]  that  I can "select Mail for Exchange when the set up procedure ask to chose the protocol ".  I tried again with another email address and did not see this option.  Is it because I have already set up a gmail account? Do I need to uninstall it ( if so how?). Can anyone tell me ( step-by-step instructions) what I should do to see/sync my google calendar in my phone.

    Hi saigal99,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
To set up a mail for exchange account on your Nokia C5-03, please go to Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > E-mail > Mailboxes > Options > New Mailbox. After entering your e-mail address and password you should have the option "Mail for Exch.". Do you have this option? If not, which choices are displayed?
If you cannot find the Mail for Exchange option this way, please update your device or reinstall the software via Nokia Suite.
Let us know how you get on and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

  • E75 Mail for Exchange - absolutely useless

    Hi all,
This is a rant, a big one.
I have been a loyal Nokia user since I was 18 (I'm in my mid 30's now). The nature of my work denoted that it was time to get myself a 'push-mail' phone so when my contract was up with Optus. I opted for the E75. I contemplated a Blackberry (as this is what most of my colleagues use) but being a loyal Nokia user and comfortable with their menus, I thought I would try this new phone. After all, there had been a massive advertising blitz throughout the Australian print media, online and television spruiking the qualities of this phone, specifically it being an "email on your mobile" type of handset. This was about a month and a half ago.
As our IT guy at work was on leave I set the E75 up with my gmail account (and just set work email on autoforward to gmail). It worked like a dream for about three days when it suddenly dropped out. The following day email worked fine ...then dropped out ....then worked fine ...then dropped out for two days. This pattern continued for a week (despite my reconfiguring the settings in-line with advice from both Nokia and Optus technicians AND performing hard resets). In short, the 'email' software on the E75 just plain DOES NOT WORK.
I returned the handset to the store where I got it from and they exchanged it for a new E75. Exactly the same problems as before. I experimented with setting it up with different types of email (hotmail, yahoo, work etc) and the same thing happened. Email would work fine and dandy for a couple of days then it would drop out for half a day or more. The nature of my work denotes that if I put my email address out there and tell colleagues they can get me on my phone, then my phone better work. As such, I stopped giving people the expectation that they could email me on my mobile and to simply call me or SMS me if they needed me.
I have now sought to have this handset returned and am trying to switch my contract over to a Blackberry. The guys at the store where I contracted with Optus have been pretty helpful as they themselves have had numerous problems with the E75 and angry customers. The Optus business managers themselves are apparently refusing to budge on this and as of this afternoon were saying they would not offer me an exchange (even if it meant I would contract for a more expensive phone, ie more money for them).
As such, I am considering my options.
*To lodge a complaint through a dispute resolution/consumer protection body like the NSW Dept of Fair Trading.
Ifyou have been supplied with a faulty product, this body investigates the situation persuant to the NSW Fair Trading Act. It is a bit hard to achieve an actual resolution for yourself here, you simply make a lot of trouble for the other side.
*To file a claim in the NSW Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal.
Decisions here are binding. You would argue that you've been sold a dud product, the faults are easily demonstrable (google E75 email faults and your system will nearly crash due to all the results that come up). This is probably the best option for people without legal representation. It is quite an informal affair and 'equity' prevails usually.
*To file a claim in the NSW District Court against Optus for breach of contract.
I contracted for "email on my mobile" I didn't get that - there's a breach of a fundamental term. Basic common law contract law. There are no exclusion clauses or disclaimers that can negate such a fundamental breach. Nokia's extensive advertising and branding of this handset as an 'email phone' denote that if it is not fit for that purpose, then you have a breach of the contract. There's also a number of Fair Trading Act sections that are valid in the fitness for purpose respect.
*To file a claim in the Federal Court against NOKIA for breaching s 71 of the Trade Practices Act
As the Trade Practices Act is a federal act, it may be worth an action directly against the manufacturer on the grounds of 'fitness for purpose'. Nokia advertised this phone as an 'email phone', the numerous discussions here denote that there have been so many faults with their email software that the phone is clearly not fit for the purpose of being an email phone, certainly not when it only works half the time.
*To file a claim in the Federal Court against NOKIA for breaching s 52 of the Trade Practices Act
Here we are talking about 'Misleading and Deceptive Conduct'. On other discussion threads dealing with the E75 email faults, some users from Europe have reprinted responses they received from Nokia technicians where they were blatantly told that the E75 is "not a mail for exchange" phone and that faults are to be expected as the software is still in development. Per the ambit of s 52, this is clearly conduct that is LIKELY to mislead or decieve especially when viewed in the light that Nokia have promoted this phone as "email on your mobile" (implying solid reliability) not "email on your mobile half the time cos it only works sparingly because we haven't nutted out the software yet."
That last one is a biggie. IF Nokia were still developing their mail for exchange software and they knew it had bugs and was not reliable (certainly not for business use) then they should not have misled consumers into believing that this phone was the "Blackberry Killer". Their advertisements on the back page of Sydney's 'Good Weekend' certainly fooled me into thinking it was. Of course, people say that I should simply just cough up another $40 of my own money and download RoadSync so I have a reliable mail for exchange program that actually works. This isn't the point. Nokia have put a very faulty product on the market, there seems to be a lot of disconnect between their marketing of the product and what their technicians say it is capable of. As such, I will be demanding a full and fair exchange of this handset with a Blackberry.
    Bryan.

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do here.
Mail for Exchange - works with Microsoft Exchange Servers only.
It doesn't work with Yahoo! Gmail or any other mail service because its "Mail for EXCHANGE"
"Mail for Exchange is preintegated to Nokia E75, Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia N86 8MP and Nokia 6710 Navigator"
    Taken from: http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/nokia-for-business/software/email-and-instant-messaging/mail-f...
In fact its more compatible with a pre-installed device such as the E75 than any of the other symbian devices that it will operate with.
The program uses the Microsoft Exchange Activesync service to push mail to your handset, this needs to be set up correctly by your companies IT department with the correct heartbeat intervals etc.
I have MfE working fine on my E71, whilst its not the same device the software works well and the push mail function is great.
I have had one or two problems, that the latest version of MfE has exhibited but there is a big thread here /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=13370
Which details some problems and resolutions.
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

  • Problem with Mail For Exchange over Nokia E7-00 (a...

Hi, I have a problem with my nokia E7-00 (Symbian Anna).
Until recently it worked fine with my terminal synchronization with GMAIL via Mail For Exchange.
I synchronized the mail (including folders / labels I have on my account), address book and calendar.
Suddenly, this synchronization does not work anymore, the mail is no longer recovered, the calendar does not show appointments and contacts are no longer synchronized.
Trying to send an email that works perfectly, but the mail is not saved in Sent folder on my nokia e7-00, also if I search on the remote server is a contact I found it perfectly.
In practice it seems that something in the synchronization mechanism does not work.
Do you have ideas on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    MP

You may try rebooting the device to check if it works. If this did not help, you will have to re-setup outlook account on your device to get it worked.
Hope, this can resolve your issue.

  • Mail for Exchange already in use error when sendin...

We have a number of Nokia E50-1 on Vodafone network which we are using Mail for Exchange 2.5.3 (mfe) to sync emails with a microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (SBS2003). When we try to reply or send a new email from the E50 we get the error "Mail for Exchange: Already in use". This happens even if the sync is set to manual and email is set to send with next sync. Very ocassionally a message will go if we keep retrying.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

    hi all,
great forums, hopefully someone has some more info on this, as i am getting the same issue.
I had mail for exchange working with my e71 no worries and then i added my home TPG account. the TPG account would not work for some reason, not that it overtly worried me, but then when i tried sending mail through exchange (either reply or new mail) i get the error message 'Mail for exchange: already in use'
I have removed the TPG account, rebooted the thing several times, all sorts of stuff - nothing seems to work. it is still syncing and i am receiving email, i just can't send...!!
any troubleshooting tips or further info would be greatly appreciated

  • Mail For Exchange Error -15006

10 days ago we updated our microsoft exchange server 2003 to exchange 2007 sp2. All went fine. Almost all 300 cellphones synchronised over the internet without any problem except for two phones. One Nokia E61 and one Nokia E51. From blank i can only synchronise once. When i start synchronising for a second time i get the message "Error in exchange server" (translated)
I upgraded to the latest firmware and the latest mail for exchange version without solving the problem. Changing the account on the phone also did not solve the problem. So the conclusion is that the problem is not in the account.
In the adminlog of the nokia suite, which i installed to troubleshoot the problem, there is a Mail For Exchange Error -15006.
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks in advance.
