C6-01: Why does it display Active Diverts when cal...

When I look at last dialled calls and select the answerphone (901 on O2) it flashes up a message saying Active Diverts on". What does that mean?

I guess it also depends on phone operator and model.
I live in Brazil and I had to deactivate my operator's voicemail. My C6-01 displayed the "call diverted" message for every call I made (I mean calls to standard phone numbers, not to the voicemail number). The only way to stop my C6-01 from flashing the "call diverted" message was to deactivate the voicemail.
My last phone was a 5530XM and it also displayed the "call diverted" message if the operator's voicemail was activated.
As I know from previous searches, among the four operators available on Brazil, my operator, Claro, is the only one that causes the "call diverted" message to be displayed for any type of call made, if the voicemail is activated.
My wife has a Nokia 3710 fold, a S40 device, and it doesn't display "call diverted", even with the voicemail activated.
So, from my experience, S60 and Symbian^3 phones both have the "call diverted" problem, at least on my operator. And S40 phones don't have this issue.

If that doesn't work, the hostname is being set to the result of a reverse lookup of your IP address on a local DNS server, most likely your gateway.

Hi PeterWCM, for what it's worth, the Apple help desk in Oz reckons we've uncovered a tech glitch in the software and that they replicated the described faults! But it only happens between specific dates (sometime in early Nov 1974, and runs through to today!)i.e; dates before Nov '74 aren't affected and some dates since!
We "trouble shooted" by inserting (made-up) dates in Addressbook and then watching when iCal updated. By a process of trila and error we nailed down the start of the problem to 2nd Nov '74!
Anyhow, they seemed to think there would be a "patch" issued in Jan...?
It MAY still be linked to timezone probs...not really sure!
Please let me know if you find a solution?

Try the basic troubleshooting tips and see if any of these help with the freezing issue.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

If you are watching the YouTube videos on Safari - this may help as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data (orCache in iOS 4.3.5). Restart the iPad. Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.

Quit AppleWorks,
In the Finder, go to:
username > Library > Preferences
In the Preferences folder:
Locate and Delete the File com.apple.appleworks.plist
Locate and Open the Folder AppleWorks
In the AppleWorks folder, delete the following files:
AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache
AppleWorks 6 Preferences
AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache
Optional:
AppleWorks Button Bars
This file contains your Button Bar preferences. If you have made changes to the Button Bar, but hanve NO issues that can be traced to the Button Bar, it may be left in place.

i just purchased a file that had videos in it. i put them in the itunes library on my pc where i first downloaded them. i was able to transfer them to my other pc, a laptop, through my home network. i am now trying to get them on my mac pro desktop and my ipad2. my mac pro can see the other computers on my home network but i cannot get it to connect to them. i know the operating systems are different but was hoping i could transfer pictures and files from pc to mac this way. haven't been able to get it to work yet. the videos i am trying to get my mac to see came in a folder with both mac and pc versions. i thought if i got the videos i purchased into itunes that i would then be able to get them to my mac pro and my ipad2. i am new to mac/apple and have always been pc-centric so trying to marry it all has been difficult. i speak pc pretty well but am just learning apple. am i trying to do things that are not possible? i sure could use a knowledgable friendly soul to walk me through my issues of having pc and mac on the same network. i have been able to get all computers and ipad to print on my network. thanks.

Why does ID create a CSS when option is not selected in export to ePub?

I am using InDesign 6 to create ePub books. I want to use my own CSS so in the Export to ePub options I am leaving the setting "Include Style definitions" unchecked. I then list my CSS under additional CSS. When I create the ePub and then examine the files included I see that there are 2 CSSs, mine and one created by InDesign. Why does InDesign create a CSS when the "Inlcude Sytle definitions" is left unchecked?

Because that is the way that CS6 exported EPUB.
EPUB is a fast moving target and has moved way beyond what CS6 can export. With each update from InDesign CS6 to InDesign CC to InDesign CC 2014, and even to the latest update to CC in October, there have been major changes to how InDesign exports EPUB. It no longer does it that way, and you have much more control over the process in InDesign CC.
Because InDesign CS6 is never going to change, it's best to work at modifying what they do export, unless you want to upgrade to InDesign CC.

I borrowed the image below for an HDR workshop I ran at the 2010 PSNZ National Convention, to demonstrate a method of removing halos. You'll remember that halos were a serious problem with early HDR, and while the halos in this image were caused by over sharpening, they are perfect for demonstrating this technique.
It relies on the fact that halos so often tend to put a lighter tone between the two areas where sharpening is being applied. Whether that is the sky abutting a dark line of hills, or the rock and little tower as in this image. I've uploaded it at the size it was supplied to me at (about 2700 pixels wide). So
Click to open the full image, right click and copy, and paste into Photoshop.
Select the clone tool, and set its blend mode to Darken.
Try to sample on a line horizontal to where you want to clone, to give the best tonal match, and start cloning.
Because the sky is darker than the halo, it overwrites it. But the rock is darker than the sky, so it has no affect.
It works even better if you clone on a new layer also set to Darken. No masking, just Photoshop blend mode magic.
You can also fix the little tower. Use a great big brush — just remember to sample horizontal to match the horizon.
Back then I was using the same trick with CAs after forgetting to fix them in ACR, and having done too much work to start again after spotting the problem.
