C6, Gmail and All Mail

Is there any possibility to have All mail "folder" for Gmail - account?  (for Nokia Messaging or what ever is the name of the email program preinstalled.)
Lumia 920 White

Thanks but I am not interested to mess up with MfE and on the other hand there is no support for C-series. I'd like to enjoy using Preinstalled Messaging software. Isn't that the purpose of offering it to customers.
ps.
email.nokia.com used via C6-00, doesn't offer any other options for Gmail than port options for edit.
pps.
Nokia needs a channel for improvment proposals. Discussing in Support forum with other users is rediciolous.
ppps.
I can't understand why it is so difficult to create software that is user friendly. I figured this problem in my first trial.
pppps.
You can hire me if you aren't able to test your phones from the users' point of view.

  • Working w / gmail and 'all mail'

If I understand correctly, apple mail is working better with gmail now. In the past, I turned off SHOW in IMAP for 'all mail' then apple mail saw just one copy of each mail in their folder/lables.
NOW we are forced to use all mail - but I am told it will NOT create duplicate copies in apple mail (like aliases) - is this correct?
Another issue is that with mabye thousands of legacy emails in gmail - will this slow down the daily operations of apple mail?
ALSO - is it true that we can NOT delete old mail from 'all mail' so we are forced to deal with stuff we don't want / need and have now way of deleting it because gmail doesn't have a way to do this?
I am curious to know this before I move to Mavericks.
    Thanks - Dave

Thanks Csound1 - good news - I didn't know we can delete from all mail - I will look into that!
Now if one has thousands of emails in all mail - can that bog down apple mail daily use?
In my case I have an account tied to many varied tech forums going back a few years... so It's nice to keep the history but not if it will slow down apple mail...

  • Why are messages in "Inbox" and in Gmail's "All Mail"?

Hi. I've set up Mail in 10.5 to download my Gmail account using IMAP. Why do messages show up in my "Inbox" and in Gmail's "All Mail"? If I want to delete a message, I have to delete it twice, once from each location. The messages appear in my "Mailboxes" and in my "Gmail" headers. Can I remove the "Mailboxes"? Thanks for your help.

that is normal behavior for gmail imap actually and is the result of time delay in syncing between the inbox and the all mail mailbox, in other words, even though you read an email in inbox, it may show up as unread in all mail. to avoid confusion you could go to mail>preferences>general and choose "inbox" for your "dock unread count" option. As for all mail, that is where gmail stores all the emails in your gmail account. so if you delete an email in that mailbox, then that email and the entire thread it is associated with, i.e. replies/forwards... may be deleted too. so, if you have created other mailboxes in your gmail imap account such as work, family, vacation... then be carefuly. my suggestion is, if you indeed have such mailboxes, then do not erase email in all mail, but concentrate on the trash and sent folders. additionally, but from your post i am sure you did so already, you need to make sure your gmail account is properly mapped. in gmail, next to all mail, are there other mailboxes such as sent/trash/delete/junk? if so, select one and go to the mail menu mailbox>use this mailbox for.. and choose the appropriate mailbox. repeat the process until done and you should have only the all mail and starred mailboxes left in gmail.
finally, if you do not use additional mailboxes in gmail to store emails, and do not plan to do so, then you could add "inbox" in mil>preferences>accounts>advanced... in the imap path prefix and the offending mailboxes you allude to will disappear. note that if you do use other mailboxes, then these will disappear also.
    hope this helps

  • E51 Gmail and Yahoo mail box access

    Dear All
I was trying to configure the gmail and yahoo mail accounts in the new E51 which I have bought. I have correctly configured the mail setup with the correct username and password. But I am getting an error "Invalid Mail for exchange credentials. Check credential settings". The pop up is coming repeatedly on the phone even if am not using the same.
Please help me out for the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hi Guys!
I'm sure by now your problems are solved. Nevertheless, let me simplify this for you. I have both my Gmail and my Yahoo mail setup on my E51 and they work beautifully. One thing you should be aware of is that while Gmail offers mobile & POP access free, you need to upgrade to a business account in yahoo to avail the same. That being said, here are the settings for each:
    For Gmail:
    Connection Settings > Incoming E-Mail
User name: Enter your complete Gmail e-mail address including '@gmail.com'
    Password: Enter your Password

    New E-Mail alerts: On
Reply to: If you would like people to reply to a different e-mail id then the current one, enter that.Else choose Off.
Delete E-mails From: Select Phone or Server. If you select phone, th emails get deleted only from the phone, although the header still remains till the next time you refresh. What this means is that mails deleted from you phone will continue to remain on your server and will be accessible the next time you access your mail using a PC.
    Retrieval Settings:

With this done you should have no poblems accessing both, your yahoo mail and gmail on your E51 over a Wi-Fi connection or a data plan from your service provider.

  • GMail IMAP All Mail does not match Apple Mail

I have a GMail account that I also access via Apple Mail setup as IMAP. I've been trying to delete some emails from this GMail account. I first did the delete in Apple Mail (AM) but somehow the deleted emails would show up a few minutes later. So next I did the delete directly on the web based GMail account. After I got done, the emails seemed to have been deleted on my GMail account. At this time I had ~11,000 items in the GMail All Mail folder.
But when I looked at AM, the IMAP Gmail All Mail has over 21,000 items which includes all of the items I had deleted from GMail.
I tried deleting the IMAP account all together and made sure that the GMail IMAP folders in the Library was removed. Then I recreated the IMAP account in AM and within about 30 minutes, all of the 21,000 items including the emails that no longer exists in the web based GMail account came back.
I like the convenience of having access to All Mail in my AM but it seems I don't have control over the contents. Can anyone explain what is going on and how I might be able to actually delete the files within AM?

    cymorrow wrote:
"what I mean is that you have two copies of everything in Apple Mail. everything that's in your gmail inbox in Mail or in any of the other mailboxes is duplicated in the All mail mailbox."
I don't keep them in both places, after I have read the message and have responded, I delete the message from my AM inbox because I know a backup already exists in All Mail.
this is up to you and you can do as you like but this is the long way to do it and you'll be fighting gmail as you are if you keep using it. it's much simpler IMO to keep messages you don't want to delete in your inbox. as it is you do download every message twice even if you delete one copy afterward.
I want to clean out all of the junk mail that gets kept by GMail in All Mail and that is why I am trying to delete these items.
that's just it. there is no easy way to do it. All Mail is the master mailbox for everything you ever received. gmail wants to keep all of them forever and they are hard to get rid of.
I seem to have deleted them from the web GMail but they keep showing back up in the AM All Mail. That must mean GMail is still keeping these "deleted" items somehow/somewhere so that when I create a new IMAP account, AM is downloading them again.
I suspect you haven't emptied trash in webmail gmail.

  • TS1843 Not receiving apple mail.  Connection Doctor says not connected to server.  Yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

Not receiving apple mail.  Checked connection Doctor.  Not connected to server, yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

No, I have a Mac and my email connects via our pacbell account we've had for years.  However, something in the Preferences/Accounts is not correct I am guessing.  Also, it asks for the password and if I put it in and click save through general or viewing, it's NOT saving it and still not allowing me to get email. My husband tried reading about this through our AT&T acct and said to change the incoming server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo;[email protected], but now I can't receive or send any email on my Mac. In advanced not sure if it should be Port of 465 or 900 something or other and SSL checked or not.  I called AT&T and they want to take over my machine by charging $15/mos for a year to fix this.  Ridiculous.
So, everytime prior to yesterday, when my husband messed around with it, I was getting a POP needs password box, typed in my password, but to no avail..Then it Keychain password popped up and assumed it was the same, but there's no way to change or modify it even using the new password my husband set up through AT&T.  I am at a complete loss.
I can access mail through yahoo mail and it takes me to AT&T Yahoo Mail, but no contacts are there so needless to say this is a pain.
I appreciate any assistance you can give me so I can get back on my email as I have for 4 years.
Thanks Hackintosh...I look forward to hearing from you....you can use the email above and it will come to me through my yahoo web page....Thanks again and let me know if you need any other information.  If you respond on here, I may not get the answer from you as I didn't know you responded until I came on discussions.  THanks

We use the Apple mail server to get e-mails from our gmail and comcast mail accounts. Recently we have been getting spam that claims to be sent to a gmail address, but when I check that address directly, there is no such e-mail, either in the inbox or in the spam folder. Is it possible to bypass the gmail account and send directly to the Apple mail server, spoofing the gmail address?

Maybe some info here for you about spoofing. (and much additional info)

  • My firefox locks up routinely on Gmail and Yahoo mail sites. It opens normally, and when I go to the login page, it locks ... in both instances.

My software locks up while I have Firefox open and am seeking to login to either gmail or yahoo mail.
It works well until I get to the login screen ... and then locks and will not allow any keyboard or mouse work ... except that I can get to my taskmaster and close Firefox and then everything works.
Today, for the first time, it did it on another site.
    Is there a 64bit iteration?
I am using the 32 bit Firefox ... the latest version (This all began with this upgrade) on a 64 bit/Windows 7.
    Thanks. rg

    Hi,
Please check if this happens in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode]. Safe mode disables the installed '''Extensions''', and themes ('''Appearance''') in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons'''. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is '''Tools''' > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''General''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel?as=u '''Use hardware acceleration when available''']. All these settings/options/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme, option or hardware acceleration is causing issues. Disabling/enabling hardware acceleration, and some types of add-ons in normal mode may require a Firefox restart.

  • Mail box behaviour is not okay using gmail. All mails in INBOX gets replicated in Trash. This is a recent phenomenon. Not clear where the problem lies - in Gmail or in new OS in MAC.

I use MAC Mail box for my gmail account. In the last one month or so, my gmail behaviour is erratic.  When I tyrpe mails and send, a spate of intermediate version gets stored as draft in TRASH forcing these to be manually deleted.
Another new issue: All INBOX Mails appear now in TRASH also.  If I delete, Trash contents, I lost all mail in INBOX also. I re-created my INBOX content from Archive Mail box. Then all mails appear in TRASH folder alaso.
I am not sure where the problem lies - Is it an issue of Gamil, or new Maverick OS that I use in my MACPRO.  This was never before say one or two months before.
The situation is distrubing and please advice whether I should reset any configuration.
    Regards
    Venkat

I removed all mails sitting in Trash this time by using DELETE command; and then again clicked "REBUILD".  Now the Trash is empty.   I hope the problem is resolved for now. Thanks for the tips given instantly. Venkat

  • Gmail and Mac Mail on Mac Book Pro OS Lion

    I have a Gmail account
I have set this up on my Mac Book Pro in Mail
E-mails come in to Mail, I then archive the ones I want to save and then I attempt to delete them from the inbox and the sent box
The inbox then refills all the emails from Gmail
When I look online at my gmail account, it shows all the same e-mails but with "IMAP Deleted" next to it
How can I set it up, so that if I delete the emails on the Mac, they are deleted online and do not continue to refresh and repopulate?
    Thanks
    Andrew

My question too! I don't see the need to archive messages I want to delete. If want to archive, I should be able to archive them to a folder, which mail apparently does not do like Gmail. I much prefer archiving them to specific folders/labels instead of All Mail. I've never even liked All Mail so I keep it hidden so I can forget it is there.
If I want to delete, it is because I want them Gone, to the trash to disappear for good.
And, I want what I do in mail or on my iPhone to be reflected in my Gmail account and visa-versa. But how?
I only use Mail because I want my gmail emails backed up somewhere in case my account disappears or I am permanently locked out suddenly, like has happened to some people. If I can't get it to work smoothly, after the countless hours I've already spent playing with it trying to figure it out, I will end up just dumping Mail I'm afraid. I'd like to keep using it though because there are some things I do like about it.

  • IMap Gmail and Mac Mail - email pileup.

I added my gmail account to mac mail as an imap acount thinking that it would be easier to keep my emails synced with the server. It was working well for a while, but then I started to notice something. On the sidebar in mail there is the MAILBOXES section with the inbox, sent, trash and junk folders. Then below that there is the section called MYACCOUNT and in it is the [Gmail] folder with the All Mail, drafts, sent mail, spam, starred, and trash folders.
I have found that over time the 'All Mail' folder in this section fills up with all my mail, including the spam. The spam stays there even after I have deleted it from the spam folder so that now, with only 3000 emails in my inbox, there are 14000 + emails in the 'all mail' folder.
Does anyone know why these emails seem to pile up like that or how I can stop it from happening?
    Thanks,
    Alwaysapple

Unless you need to access all your mail across several different computers or locations, IMAP is not the best solution. You should set this up as a POP3 account and be sure to set your preferences for each account to delete mail from the server (Gmail) after you retrieve it.
There are many reasons advantages to using IMAP as opposed to POP3 even if you're using a single computer.
    Online backups
    Saved drafts
Remote access via webmail and alternative clients if you don't have your computer with you
Faster--download meta data (subject, etc.) and then the message body
The list gets really long if you start looking at the advantages in the case of multiple email clients, which just about everyone has now. The majority of email users have computers and home and at work, and a pretty substantial chunk of them have portable (think iPhone) or web-based clients that they also use.
I'm sorry to say it, but recommending POP3 over IMAP as a better protocol demonstrates your lack of knowledge of subject matter. Thanks for piping in, but people here aren't looking that kind of help.

  • IMAP GMAIl and Leopard Mail...where are deleted messages?

I have followed these instructions in mapping folders from Google website (below). When I delete a message while on iMac/Apple Mail..i cant see where it went! It is in the GMAIl ALL MAIL folder but not in trash. When I delete from gmail website while on web browser, a deleted message goes in TRASH.
    Apple Mail
From the Mail menu, click Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors
    Drafts:
Store draft messages on the server > checked
    Sent:
Store sent messages on the server > do NOT check
    Junk:
Store junk messages on the server > checked
Delete junk messages when > Never
    Trash:
Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox > do NOT check
Store deleted messages on the server > do NOT check

  • Gmail and Mavericks - mail disappearing

I "lost" all my mail after Mavericks update, then spent considerable time recovering from Time Machine all my mail. After 4 days, all my gmail was removed yet again from my archived folders. Visible from both Apple Mail and Safari access to the mail server prior all mail has now vanished. Now I'm faced with recovering yet again (about 2 days work) and I suspect only to have it "deleted" from gmail yet again. Is anyone else having similar issues? Ideas on resolution?
    Many thanks

Users are still posting mixed results. Some with no issues and others reporting number of messages downloading to be in the thousands. Mavericks Mail likes the All Mail folder to be checked. If your Inbox has thousands of messages, I suggest you log into your Gmail account in Safari and archive (move to All Mail) most of your Inbox before adding the account. See my blog article on setting up Gmail. You can also read the comments from other users to see what worked for them.
If you test in a new User this gives you a clean environment to add the account. If it works as expected in the new User, add Gmail in your regular User. If you run into problems you know there is some cleanup that is needed.

  • IMAP, Gmail and Apple Mail in Leopard

Has anyone got Gmail IMAP to work properly in Apple Mail in Leopard?
Although IMAP is still being rolled out, it's arrived on my 'spare' Gmail account so I tried it out in Mail on Leopard - with very mixed results.
I followed the official Gmail instructions here: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77663&topic=12761
    then looked here: http://5thirtyone.com/archives/862
    for some additional help.
It does sort of work, but Messages don't usually appear in the InBox and setting Gmail folders to be for sent mail, deleted etc as per the second link doesn't seem to work that well.
Anyone had a good experience with this? Got any tips?
    Thanks

I am using it. It is working pretty well. You do have to set up your account manually. Note the following recommendations from Google:
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78892
I have a post detailing my setup here:
    http://pt.withy.org/ptalk/archives/2007/11/gmailimap_on_myiphone.html
The one problem I am having with Leopard Mail is that despite setting my account to not move deleted messages to the trash, and having Show Deleted Messages enabled per:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/3.0/en/9911.html
When I delete a message it disappears from my InBox immediately, and there is no Undo Delete Message action available (as there used to be in Tiger Mail). The message is still available in my All Mail folder under [GMail], but I sorely miss the ability to quickly un-delete a mail message... Hope this will be fixed in 10.5.1!

  • Sent boxes in Gmail and in Mail are not the same

Hi, I am using Gmail and Mail in OS X lion.  When I send a message through Gmail (on Firefox), the message is not in the sent box in Mail. The sent box in Mail keeps messages sent through only Mail. Is there any way to "synchronize" sent boxes in Gmail and Mail? Thanks,

If you have the Gmail account set up in Mail correctly, you will have the Gmail IMAP folder at the bottom of the Mail sidebar. The Inbox will automatically synced with the Inbox folder, so it won't show up in the IMAP mailboxes.
Highlight the sent mailbox under the IMAP folder, go to the main menu in Mail, click on Mailbox, scroll down to the "Use This Mailbox For", and select Sent. Do the same for others you want to see such as Trash.
Also, select to store messages on the server in Mail preferences under Mailbox behaviors and set you delete time to your preferences.
