C6280 - like a cat, endlessly cleaning its fur?

My networked C6280 (6 weeks old) reminds me of a cat that stops frequently to lick its fur. It frequently whirs between jobs, and on longer jobs it even stops every 10 or so pages, whirs and clanks as if it's cleaning print heads or doing some sort of maintenance activity. The on-printer display shows a "do not disturb" message. I use primarily a Mac, but have also used a Windows machine on this network. Latest driver installed, very new ink cartridges.
Needless to say, I can't reproduce the symptom on a consistent basis.
This is my first AIO.  Is all this clanking and whirring normal?

Yes, the printer is servicing the permanant printheads to ensure the nozzles do not get clogged.  This is normal.

I can't backup my iPhone 5. It says I don't have enough storage. So I've deleted like 6-7 apps and its still says I don't have enough storage. And it also says the same thing when I want to buy new apps or music. Also my messages won't send; I have to turn my phone off and resend then just to they can send. I can't even take any pictures because it says I have no storage.(I currently have 1,658 photos and 72 videos by the way.) What can I do? I just my phone in late December. I didn't think it would act up this bad before I even had it for a year. Please help.

Your phone needs more storage, buying storage on iCloud.com doesn't change that.
Delete some of the stuff off of your phone, it's full.

  • My iMac sounds like a cat purring? Do not remember my Mom's doing that? Any ideas?

My I MAc sounds like a cat purring, is that normal or is this something I should be concerned about. I have only had it forjust over two months? Thanks!

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. Might also apply to new machines the first 90 days. BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best insurance available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.

  • Firefox 6 hangs constantly, just like 3.6.21 and its predecessors did.

Just like FF version 3.6.21 and its predecessors, the new FF 6 hangs when it's been running for a while, especially with multiple tabs/window open. Before upgrading to 6.0.1, I did all the self-help measures possible, clearing all FF history, downloads, cache, cookies, clearing the Mac's caches as well, resetting parameter ram, running disk utility, repairing permissions, etc. No luck. I truly thought the ongoing issue was due to my older FF version 3.6.21, so I installed 6.0.1. Unfortunately, the newest version 6.0.1 did not change the situation. FF hangs when left open for an extended period of time. I even upgraded to 6.0.2 recently, but the problem still persists.
It hangs at various times, and there is not one particular action that triggers it. When FF hangs, it affects everything else that is open, whether it is a Word document, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs etc. I am continually forced to shut FF down and start over. Upon a restart, FF and all other applications work beautifully, but after a while, slowly but surely, FF begins to misbehave, the spinning beach ball appears intermittently, till it becomes a constant, FF becomes totally unresponsive, and I have to Force Quit FF.
Nothing else has changed on my Mac, I have not installed any new software, the only thing that has changed is something within FF. The newer FF browsers of the last 6 months all have to be babied. I live in fear when having more than one window or tab open, lest FF start to hang and I end up losing everything I was working on, because upon a restart, FF is having trouble recovering my tabs. I used to be able to have 10 windows open with multiple tabs, along with several Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and PDFs all open at the same time, with no problems, ho hangs, and no restarts! What is going on lately?
I even spent half a day with Apple Technical Support on two occasions, to see if there was an internal problem with my Mac that was causing these issues. The diagnostics turned out fine. We did everything under the sun to resolve any potential glitches, and I hoped that when I next opened FF that all would be working smoothly, but alas, no luck. When FF is left open for several hours, it eventually freezes up (FF not responding) and I am forced to Force Quit FF and start over. Again, and again, and again.
FF I got your new browser because you promised me faster speed. That is not the case; I am working at a snail’s pace due to the constant hanging episodes. There is clearly a glitch with the newer FF browsers and Mac OS 10.5.8, and it has become a MONSTROUS issue for me. Please have technical support address this problem as soon as possible. I otherwise love the new FF 6. You made some very good changes to it, which I appreciate very much. But unless this hanging issue is fixed, I will not be able to continue using FF as my browser. It has hampered me significantly to date, and I can’t afford to let this go on much longer. I am hoping you will develop a fix in the very near future. Please post back and let me know if there is a cure on the way. Thank you.

Thank you scoobidiver. I think that may be exactly what the problem is. Although I have had FF hang at other times when little activity was going on. It just does not seem very stable to me for a long while now, even back to the FF 3.6 days.
Is FF 7 even available for Mac 10.5.8? I thought I had the latest at 6.0.2.

  • Would like to wipe HD clean

    I can't wip it clean
I would like to zero out my hard drive before Apple replaces it next week.
    Please take a look "Here"
This will tell you what is wrong with my Hard drive -
Nothing works in Disk Utility - the iMac right now is working OK -

Did you use the system disc that originally came with your computer?
    Erasing disks securely
Start up from your System install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

  • I would like to exchange the clean version of an album I bought for the explicit version.

Is this even possible? If so how do I go about it?
I emailed Apple support and it said i'd receive an email back within two days but it's been 4 days so I don;t think they're going to answer me.

Contact them again, and don't feel you have to back down so easily.  Nobody wants the Clean versions, and everybody knows it.  The Clean versions are only in the Store to give parents of young kids a warm fuzzy feeling.
The stats may show that some people buy the Clean versions, but in fact 99% of those cases are people who got it by mistake, just like yourself.
Let us know how you make out.

    I personally like iOS 7.

  • Iphone likes to shut down on its own when handled

For the last week my iphone has got a mind of its own and like to try to shut down on its own. Sometimes it would give me the red button+slide to turn off...sometimes it just goes to the Apple logo then shuts down.
No hacks on it, maybe two apps max like ebay so really nothing that would point out to an issue. This is also a replacement my original phone had a screen issue this summer where you could not touch anything else than the bottom bar. I swapped it for this one so it is virtually new.
Not sure if it is the button on the top that is stuck and it does not look like it.
Any similar experiences? I heard other users had issues with their iphone shutting down for no reason.

It does sound like the Sleep/Wake button may be stuck or overly sensitive.
If you lightly tap on it, does the phone turn off?

  • I downloaded mountain lion onto my old mackbook pro, but would like to wipe it clean for my girlfriend, is there a way to wipe the computer clean, but still be able to keep mountain lion on it even though i already downloaded it?

Hey everyone, I just got the new retina display macbook pro, and here is where the problem lays is with my old macbook pro. I am wanting to give it to my girlfriend, but want to wipe the computer clean so she can have the macbook the way she wants it. I already downloaded mountain lion and was wondering what I need to do in order to keep mountain lion, but wipe everything else? I do not have any of the CDs for the old Macbook pro

    To second baltwo's post:
Your license for Mountain Lion (or any OS version purchased at the app store) is not transferable - you can use it on any Mac you own and control; however, someone else getting that machine means the recipient will need to purchase ML The SLA states that you must erase the drive and reinstall the original OS. You will need to call Apple for replacement install disks.
If you leave ML on the machine, the recipient will never be able to reinstall the OS since the new Apple ID and machine ID no longer match.

  • Hii Can anyone tell me is there any possibility of giving some due payment like bonus or offcycle after its termination is done along with the payroll run and posting.

Hii Can anyone tell me is there any possibility of giving some due payment like bonus or offcycle once employee termination is done along with the payroll run and posting.
    Thanx

One Possibility is by making manual entry for that employee from FI side..  (this will give you soln..) Take the help of FI consultant...
Another possibility is in IT0003 "Payroll Status".. You can opt mention next month date "Run Payroll up to" & execute Off cycle payroll for that employee...
Just try this hope this may sort your issue....
If it still it doesn't give you soln.. You may need to reverse the posting of that employee & change employment status.. Run Bonus & finally terminate the employee & do the posting..

  • Nowadays my iMac likes to slow down and its display suddenly goes black. why do these things happen?

I don't know why but a couple of days before, I opened a website and suddenly it became slow. Then the next day when I was opening something which I forgot what it was, and then it went black and I tried every button and suddenly the front row appeared. Today, after I logged in, I opened Safari and then it went black and when I pushed a random button, the log in box appeared. iMac is supposed to be immune to viruses right?

It sounds like you may have a failing hardware component.  I would recommend you insert Disk 2 of your Original Installation disks that came with your iMac and boot from it by holding down the Option - D keys, and run the Extended Apple Hardware Test to diagnose what may be failing.  It is unfortunately possible that you have an intermitent fault in your hardware that could be tough to find.
    Hope this helps

  • Like Firefox, can Safari restore its tabs when (closed and) re-opened?

If Firefox contains open / active tabs and is closed, those tabs (and their history) can (via a setting) be restored when Firefox is re-opened.
Can Safari restore its tabs when it's re-opened as well?

In my Safari for Windows (5.0.5) I've got a "Reopen all Windows from previous session" command. (In my History Menu.)

  • Would like to do a clean install of XP and all the appropriate drivers.....

    Hi all....
I run OS 10.6 and Windows XP via Fusion or occasionally via Boot Camp. Recently, I've tried to update some software on the Windows machine, but the installer repeatedly refuses to finish due to a "error in execution of USB drivers".
It isn't clear what is causing this error, but since the only reason I use Windows at all is this specific software, I need to make it work.
I'm considering doing a fresh install of XP. My question is what is the best way to do this??? Should I repartition the hard drive? If so, that necessitates reinstalling my entire Mac partition as well, correct?
Is there a way to do a fresh install of XP without touching the Mac partition?
    Thanks
    Fabian

    Hi Fabian,
first of: did you used your BootCamp Windows when creating the Fusion Windows VM ?
If so, then deleting an recreating the BootCamp Windows would 'destroy' the Fusion Windows VM !!
The BootCamp Assistant in OSX can revert back the former partitioning to one single OSX volume.
Just run it and you should get that option.
This repartitioning usually works without a hitch and without harming the OSX partition.
However, personally I would never ever 'fumble' with partitions without having made a backup of my valuable OSX and files before.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • HT1338 I would like to perform a clean install on my macbook pro. I do not have the original disks that came the mac, however I know it was purchased in 2008.

Upgrading MacBook Pro to new machine want to unistall. No disc.

Strictly speaking you are supposed to supply the old discs with a computer since they are part of the computer package (for Macs at least).
Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775 (telephone numbers for other countries - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57). Provide the serial number and specifications of the Mac.  They may be able to provide a replacement set of discs for a fee.  These discs will be for whatever OS was installed on the computer originally.
As far as your files are concerned, you can use another Mac or any retail version discs that will work in the old Mac to wipe the drive.  To be more specific it would help to know what computers and which discs you actually own.
If you install an operating system (OS) on a Mac you also need to provide the discs (i'm talking about pre-OSX 10.7).
I have seen Macs sold without the original OS discs.  If you do that then you at least need to provide the disc for the one on the computer.  I guess you could try to sell the computer without an OS but that might be hard.  If I was buying your computer I would want to see it boot, and I also might not want the hassle of getting an OS disc for it befre I could use it in any way.  You'd have to come down a bit to make it sell.
Given all the above, I would still go with Snow Leopard.  The retail disc itself will be as cheap as the original.  The only things it might miss vs. the original will be bundled software (most of which will be outdated, though somebody might prefer older version to none) and perhaps the hardware test utility.  Having a slightly newer OS might make the computer more attractive.
