C6380 Printer Preperation After Every Print Job

After any small time gap between print jobs (i.e., not in between queued print jobs, but then after the last of those), my c6380 will go through a "Please wait.  Printer preperation occurring."  The print mechanism appears (noisy) to be doing something and then it goes idle.
Is my printer acting correctly?
Thanks,
Keith

This is normal.  After the printer has been idle for some time it prepares the printheads to be parked away in the service area so they will not dry out.

  • HP C6380 - Print job stalls part way through

My wife and I bought a new Dell Studio 15 (Vista 64 SP1) and an HP C6380 over Christmas. We have AT&T DSL and we use the wireless 2WIRE router/modem device. When I went to install the software for the printer, the Dell just kept spitting out the cd-rom. Odd I thought. I talked to HP and they suggested I just download the installation software for 64 bit Vista. I did so and went through the installation with no problems. Test prints worked fine and I thought we were home free. Well...
About 40% of the time when we print, the printer begins to print and gets about 1/4 or 1/8 of the way through a page and then it stalls out. The print monitor on the computer gives an error message, but I can't seem to get any more details than there is an error. The printer itself just says it's printing and eventually it will just spit out the unfinished page. It often happens when printing documents that are longer than 1 page. I've seen this error mentioned in various Google searches I've done, but no one seems to know how to fix it. I think it has to do with Vista and the HP printer not getting along. I don't believe the router is the issue. Has any one any suggestions on what we might do to fix this issue? Thanks.

There have been reports of Vista not working well with older networking equipment.  Here's a link to a Microsoft note on this subject.
I also have a couple of other questions:
When the printer stalls, can you ping the printer from the PC?  Can you access the printer's internal web page by browsing its IP address?
How is the PC connected to your network (wired or wireless)?
Are there other wireless devices on the network besides your PC and your printer?
When the printer stalls, can you still browse the internet from your PC?

  • Print jobs won't automatically drop from the print queue after printing

I just bought an Envy 7640.  When printing multiple documents, the first print job hangs in the queue after it prints, which prevents subsequent jobs from printing.  The first job continues to show a status of Printing after it prints the job.  I have to manually go into the queue and cancel the finished job before the next job in the queue will print. Having to clear the queue manually each time a print job finishes is not an acceptable fix to the problem.  How can I get the printer to automatically delete the print job after it prints like it's supposed to do?

Thank you for your reply.  The steps that you sent are for print jobs that you cannot delete from the queue.  I also found those instructions earlier, however, it doesn't apply to the problem I'm having with my printer. I don't have a problem deleting print jobs from the queue.  As my previous post stated, when I print multiple documents, the first document prints but it stays in the queue with a status of Printing.  Because it stays in the queue with the Printing status, it prevents the second and subsequent documents from printing. My problem is that I have to go to the queue after every single job prints and delete it from the queue to allow the next document to print.  It's ridiculous to have to delete every job from the queue after it prints.  The printer should automatically delete the job after it prints it, and then print the next job in the queue. How can I make the printer delete a job automatically after it prints it??  Can you please give me a resolution to this problem? Thank you.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 A809 printing line feed page after every job

I've searched and I have found this is a known issue - that there is supposed to be an update to fix this. I can't find this update anywhere for the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809. It is connected to the computer via a USB cable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the print heads, doing diagnostics on it, ..., and I still get the line feed page printing after every print job. Help!

Hey there @tjkalb, I hope you are doing well
I read your post about how a "line feed" page prints after each print job from your Officejet 8000, running Windows 7. I have some steps and questions for you to try to get started. Afterwards please get back to me with the results and we will go from there if needed.
    1. Does the "line feed" page print after print jobs from all programs, or are you finding it prints when you print from somewhere specifically?
    2. Try a Clean Boot on your PC, restart the PC, and try printing from Notepad to see if the line feed prints.
    3. Print a Print Quality Page from the printer and examine it for any defects and to see if the line feed page still prints afterwards:
    source
    4. Click here and try download the "Updates" for this printer: HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer - A809a
    5. Create another User Account profile on your computer and try printing from there to see if the line feed page prints from another profile.

  • P3005 error message PCL XL error IllegalMediaSource extra sheet printed after every print job

We have a networked P3005 with a stepped back PCL5e driver working for three Word 2003 people and one Word 2007 person. Out of the blue the Word 2007 person began getting an extra sheet of paper after every print job with the error message PCL XL error  Warning: IllegalMediaSource. We had gotten a version of this error before, which is why I stepped back the driver to PCL5e.
    Anyone have any thoughts? Please??

I have not had any problems since I read a post from someone to turn the printer off unplug the power cord from it and wait a little bit.  Plugged it back in, turned it on and it has been working.   I am using Vista 32 bit.  I'm not sure this is what you are wanting on the driver.  I found this  HPC14106 .GPD    3.25.2010

  • How do you stop the "alignment" after every print job?

We got this printer because at first received great reviews, it had a fax, copier and printer.  However, as discussed in another forum, we are wasting color ink when we print in black/white.  I just installed a magenta and already it has lost 1/4 of the ink for "aligning".   Is it set up in the programming to align after print job?  I"m so over this!  I have to hit cancel then wait 4 min for it to cancel.  I have algined and everything is ok, not sure why after each print job.  I followed "HPs guidelines" on the program but there is nothing there to address this issue.  Any help or thought would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Printer icon (queue) in Dock After Every Print.... WHY??

Anyone else experiencing this? After every single print job, on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac, I have to click on my printer icon (print queue box) and QUIT manually. This never happened before my 10.5 Leopard upgrade. Same printer as before, same computers as before. Is this some kind of new setting? Why do I have to see/close the print queue after every single print job sent? This is so time consuming and becoming very annoying. Is this a bug in Leopard or is there a setting that changed after my 10.5 Leopard upgrade???

i was having the same problem, did a quick search in the forums, and found that this is already discussed and solved several times

  • Firefox does not queue print jobs until after quitting (using lpr on RHEL5).

Using several versions of firefox 3+ including 3.6.3, print jobs using lpr aren't queued until firefox quits. This is confirmed on both RHEL5 and Ubuntu 10.04. We configured gtkrc to allow lpr printing, and it prints correctly, but only after firefox closes. This is valid in a clean firefox install as well as more customized versions. Other gtk-enabled apps (e.g., acroread) do not show this problem.

  • Print jobs stuck in queue after printer goes auto off

Hi all!We have an HP LaserJet M125NW printer in the office, which is connected directly to the network (wired). The problem is, once the printer goes to "auto off" mode, the print jobs get stuck in the queue, and we need to restart the printer every time. After the restart, it works fine, until it goes auto off again. The device has a fix ip, and it can be seen on the network, everything sems okay, but it still doesn't print. I tried different computers, different operating systems, nothing works. Could anyone help me with this annoying situation?

, Welcome to the forums  I read about the printing issue you're having with your LaserJet M125NW, that will not seem to wake up when you send the print job to be printed out. Below is what I would first suggest trying. Select Setup, System Setup, Energy Settings, Wake/Auto On Events, and in that menu, select "LAN Job" to see if this will help wake the printer up when you send it a print command. Also ensure you have the power to the unit plugged in directly to a wall outlet. Avoid power bars and surge protectors, which ensures the printer is receiving the full power it needs.  Let me know what happens, good luck

  • Can I stop the Officejet 6000 from calibrating after each print job?

Is there a way to prevent the Officejet 6000 from calibrating after each print job? The process is loud and prolonged. The print quality is fine but it makes too much noise. I have not seen an answer to this in any forum. I hope one of the pros or expert can help.

This servicing will occur after every print job. There are no methods to stop it or decrease its cycle time.

  • I use PSC1410 and the problem is after finishing the printing job each time it pulls one blank page

I have PSC 1410, page is pulled at the begining and the check paper as well as the check cartridge LED blinks. To start the print job I have to wait for the page spool and after I hear the first page spool sound then I have to load the paper immediately to the paper try and the print job starts perfectly, after the end of print job it pulls one blank pageand the check paper LED blinks and I have to cancel the print job.

  • HP Laserjet utility starts and fails to go away after print job

I have an HP Laserjet 1300 hooked to an Airport base station. After the Leopard install (a default, Upgrade install from 10.4.10), I had to re-ADD that printer in the Print & FAX Preferences panel -- it wasn't simply remembered. That went fine, and printing works as expected.
EXCEPT: The HP Laserjet 1300 "utility" application (for managing the print queue) now activates with each print job -- not just when there is a problem such as "out of paper" as before. No problems are actually reported during or after the print job. And when the print job finishes, it doesn't go away. I have to manually Quit it.
I can't find any option to have the "utility" activate only when it has some problem to report (i.e., the way it worked under Tiger), or to make it go away automatically when all print jobs are finished. Any suggestions?
NOTE: When ADDing the printer in the Print & FAX utility, it did go looking for "new drivers", but didn't announce it found or installed anything new.

Thank you. That's what I was looking for:
Right click on the printer utility icon in the dock when you see it still sitting in there. Select "Auto Quit" from the pop up menu. Click on the utility to select it and open its queue window. Manually quit the utility.
After those steps it appears the utility now activates in the dock and then goes away after each print job that finishes normally.
    Solved!

  • Report views correctly in Report Viewer but on export or print, blank page inserted after every page

    Hi all
I'm hoping someone has an idea what is causing this issue. I am using Crystal 2008 and have created many reports over the years, with no issue like this.
I have had to create a label file for an Avery label that does not appear in the Crystal Reports default list of label definitions (have done this many times before for other labels, with no issue).
The report displays perfectly in the CR Report Viewer, however once the report is sent either to PDF export or to the printer, an extra blank page is inserted after every page of the report.
The fact that it displays correctly in the viewer means there is nothing in the report that is amiss.... there is something going on when the report is sent out.
I've read a lot of similar problems, however the idea that it is a network problem doesn't explain why the hundreds of other reports I've created exactly the same way... do not have this problem!
Does anyone know the answer to this puzzle?
    regards
    Kaz

    Hi Karen
Here is the issue. When you look at the report in the viewer you see this:
Notice the dashed line after the body of each label. That line is there because the report is formatted to be a column report:
So the viewer shows you that there is another column to be printed / exported and that is what is happening with the report.
