C6380 text printing in red and slowly to reddish black

My recently installed (4 days) C6380 photosmart prints photos very well,however, I noticed it printed text ,from a web site, first in red,second print in dim red fading into reddish brown and the third time all print in black /brown color. What gives,any ideas?Other printers I have had never did this I would appreciate any advice

It is not a good idea to bang on the printer, they are fragile and you can damage things....
You could try soaking the printhead as shown in this post.

  • In iTunes, my printing is white and the background is black, How do I change it back to white printing on a black background.

    In my iTunes store, the printing is white and the background is black and I have forgotten how to change it back to black printing on a white background? I know that it is a simple answer, but right now I cannot think of it.
    Also, what is the "other" when you are syncing an ipad in itunes and in my case the other is more than half of my 64Gb. How do I find out what it is and then get rid of it if I want to?
    Thanks

    Hi gramie47,
    Sorry to hear that didn't resolve the issue.
    I checked online for issues printing from the Internet, found a couple of things you can try. Most likely it is a setting that needs to be changed in the browser settings, since the printer prints fine from the computer.
    From Internet Explorer, go to File, Page setup, Remove check from "Printer background color and images" if checked, or vise versa, to see if that helps.
    Here is another document you may take a look at.

  • Negative  values in red and Positive values in black CONDITIONAL FORMATTING

    Hi ... Everyone
    I have to show Negative values in red and Positive values in black in one of my report.
    i tried these conditions
    1. <?if:GAIN<0.00?><?attribute@inlines:color;'red'?><?end if?>
    but it shows negative values only in red ,positive values in black are missing
    2. <?if:GAIN<0.00?><?attribute@incontext:color;'red'?><?end if?><?if:GAIN>0.00?><?attribute@incontext:color;'black'?><?end if?>
    This gives the exact result what i wanted ...but the problem is i have five tables in my report ... so the above condition only allow changes in ONE TABLE ONLY. :(
    Plzzzz anyone who can help me to sort out my problem or else SUGGEST ANOTHER WORKING CONDITION
    Regards
    Subham Mittal

    Subham,
    This should not be difficult and moreover the BI Publisher Desktop installation comes with a set of examples:
    Start -> Programs -> BI Publisher Desktop -> Samples -> RTF Templates -> Advanced -> Conditional
    There you can find two templates with the exact same situation like yours, highlighting either the foreground color or background color.

  • Ive got a problem with some red text printing greyscale for some reason and I cant tell why.

    I set up a business card. I downloaded a vector logo from brandsoftheworld.com just like I have many times. I drop the logo in and get the card typeset. Then, on the person's name, I want their name to be red so I highlight their name and grab the Eyedropper tool and click on the red in the logo so it's the same red. Works just fine. Everything on screen looks fine.
    HOWEVER.. when I print the card to our color copier, everything is cool except the name. It prints out in greyscale. Everything else on the card is great. I PDF'd the file and printed the PDF and that works fine... so I'm not sure whats going on. Thee PDF's are what I will be sending to press... but I'm still worried that something goofy is going on. Any ideas? The red is not a spot color either. There are some spot colors from the logo showing in my swatches palette but there is no red spot color. Could those spots be causing an issue with the red? The red in the logo prints just fine though.

    I don't think so Jeffrey. Heres what I tried.
    Selecting the text as of now shows a red color in the Fill box on the tool bar. I then go to the swatches palette and hit "new swatch" button. This creates a new CMYK swatch with C=0, M=100, Y=100, K=0. So.. now that text is using that CMYK swatch. .....
    WAIT A MINUTE.. apparently I WAS printing in greyscale to the color machine. I didnt notice that. The EPS file was printing in color and everything else was greyscale. Geeez... never had that happen before. But... it works fine now. Thanks for the info guys!

  • How to print diffrent color and diffrent size of text in JTextArea ?

    Hello All,
    i want to make JFrame which have JTextArea and i append text in
    JTextArea in diffrent size and diffrent color and also with diffrent
    fonts.
    any body give me any example or help me ?
    i m thanksfull.
    Arif.

    You can't have multiple text attributes in a JTextArea.
    JTextArea manages a "text/plain" content type document that can't hold information about attributes ( color, font, size, etc.) for different portions of text.
    You need a component that can manage styled documents. The most basic component that can do this is JEditorPane. It can manage the following content types :
    "text/rtf" ==> via StyledDocument
    "text/html" ==> via HTMLDocument
    I've written for you an example of how a "Hello World" string could be colorized in a JEditorPane with "Hello" in red and "World" in blue.
    import javax.swing.JEditorPane;
    import javax.swing.text.StyleConstants;
    import javax.swing.text.StyledEditorKit;
    import javax.swing.text.StyledDocument;
    import javax.swing.text.MutableAttributeSet;
    import javax.swing.text.SimpleAttributeSet;
    import java.awt.Color;
    public class ColorizeTextTest{
         public static void main(String args[]){
              //build gui
              JFrame frame = new JFrame();
              JEditorPane editorPane = new JEditorPane();
              frame.getContentPane().add(editorPane);
              frame.pack();
              frame.setVisible(true);
              //create StyledEditorKit
              StyledEditorKit editorKit = new StyledEditorKit();
              //set this editorKit as the editor manager [JTextComponent] <-> [EditorKit] <-> [Document]
              editorPane.setEditorKit(editorKit);
              StyledDocument doc = (StyledDocument) editorPane.getDocument();
              //insert string "Hello World"
              //this text is going to be added to the StyledDocument with positions 0 to 10
              editorPane.setText("Hello World");
              //create and attribute set
              MutableAttributeSet atr = new SimpleAttributeSet();
              //set foreground color attribute to RED
              StyleConstants.setForeground(atr,Color.RED);
              //apply attribute to the word "Hello"
              int offset = 0; //we want to start applying this attribute at position 0
              int length = 5; //"Hello" string has a length of 5
              boolean replace = false; //should we override any other attribute not specified in "atr" : anwser "NO"
              doc.setCharacterAttributes(offset,length,atr,replace);
              //set foreground color attribute to BLUE
              StyleConstants.setForeground(atr,Color.BLUE);
              //apply attribute to the word "World"
              offset = 5; //we include the whitespace
              length = 6;
              doc.setCharacterAttributes(offset,length,atr,replace);

  • Printing/Preview does not honour to printer page margins and garbles text

    I have this weird problem with printing. When I print, e.g., a pdf using preview, the page comes out of the printer incorrectly, that is the top 2.2cm gets chopped off and some of the characters have become unreadable (especially the I, the :, and the J). When I print the same pdf from adobe reader, the page comes out fine...
    The problem of chopping-off the top bit of a page also happens when I print directly from an application (e.g., thunderbird, firefox). Saving the print as PDF and printing that one with adobe reader again works fine.
    The problems occurs only when I print on my Lexmark Optra E312L (using the generic Postscript printer). On our HP Photo Printer (B9180), everything works as expected.
    I have already restarted the printing system, but while this did solve another printing problem, I still have this problem.
    So my question is: anyone else experiencing similar problems (ie., top of print chopped-off and garbled text) and, better yet, is there a solution?
    Thanks,
    Hayo

    Steve, thank you for trying to answer my question/solve my problem!
    You suggestions, however do not fully help in my case though
    I was already using the full printing dialogue, but nowhere did I find anything that might solve this problem. The print scaling, I did not want to use as I want the page to come out as-is (the pdf was an A4 and I print to A4). Note: border less printing or other ways of selecting a larger printable area doesn't work either; when I select the Lexmark, I have a very limited number of page size options and while it shows them, I can't use a custom page size (otherwise that could have solved the problem I guess).
    I did expect some things to get chopped-off but then evenly from all sides (ie, where it can't print). This is not what happens when printing from preview though. Today I tried again and while the results are the same, I now understand better what Preview does: it chops off only the top bit (what it does left and right, I don't know yet). In my opinion this is an error on the part of Preview because that way you never get the page exactly as it was intended. Adobe Reader does this much better, so that is what I will be using from now on.
    The other problem, the garbled text (mostly i's, j's, and :'s) is still there as well. So I guess there must be a problem in the printing engine of Preview in combination with the generic postscript driver...
    Heck, it gets even more interesting: I also tested printing from Firefox directly. This results in an error flashing on the printer, the printout got out of the printer ok-ish though. When saving the output as PDF and printing that with Adobe Reader again, the printer does not generate an error AND (more importantly), the output is much better quality wise (the rendering of the fonts and greys is much better).
    Right, I guess the lesson I learned here is not to use Preview/print directly when I want to print to the Lexmark and to take the route PDF->Adobe Reader->Lexmark instead.
    Is there a way I can let Apple know about bugs? (the garbled text certainly is a bug, the other things may or may not).
    Thanks again,
    Hayo

    I downloaded OpenOffice and am able to print documents (in particular, the same document I created in MS Word). I guess MS Word is to blame. I believe the issue is concluded, but I'd welcome any comments about the Active Directory, as I might have a problem

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

    My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
    The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
    Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
       Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

  • Is printing to generic text printer and hand-coding the report possible?

    We have created Oracle Reports that are formatted to print to Zebra printers. We code the report in Report Layout and the text printed is for generic text printers, what our Zebra printers requires. Can this be done with APEX reports?
    Example:
    ^xa
    ^ilr:val_set.grf2^fs
    ^fo88,132^a0,90,80^fb464,1,0,C,0^fd&<ACCESSION>^fs
    ^by2,3.0,32^fs
    ^ft64,402^BCb,32,n,n^fd&<FARMFIELD>^fs
    ^ft600,402^BCb,32,n,n^sn&<LOCLOW>,1,y^fs
    ^fo304,232^a0r,20,20^fd&<LOCTYPE>^fs
    ^fo334,232^a0,50,45^sn&<LOCLOW>,1,y^fs
    (skipping some code here for brevity)
    ^pq&<LOC_ROWS>^fs
    ^xz
    Asking whether APEX can print to generic text printers and can we code the report output
    ourselves.
    Thanks for any help.

    Here is a simple example of printing via pl/sql to a text file...
    create or replace procedure utl_file_io is
    l_fil utl_file.file_type;
    l_buf varchar2(200);
    begin
    l_fil := utl_file.fopen('TMP', 'amar_test.t', 'W');
    utl_file.put_line(l_fil, 'This is a sample text file.');
    utl_file.put_line(l_fil, 'Generated from Oracle utl_file package.');
    utl_file.put_line(l_fil, 'Below is the content of am1010 table.');
    for rec in (select col1, col2 from am1000) loop
    utl_file.put_line(l_fil, rpad(rec.col1, 15, ' ') || rec.col2);
    end loop;
    utl_file.put_line(l_fil, 'End of File');
    utl_file.fclose(l_fil);
    exception
    when no_data_found then
    utl_file.fclose(l_fil);
    end;
    This routine will generate a text file to the default directory on your server, you would need to build an Oracle directory and change the code to include the path to your file there. Getting it to the printer could be a simple shell script that copies the file out your your printer if it is on the network and can be seen..

  • HP 6940 suddenly printing with lines and red hue

    Hello,
    I was printing photos tonight with my 6940 and suddenly the photos started coming out with the first half (left sides) printed correctly, and the right half has a red hue and striated lines.  I thought the black cartridge might be out, so I replaced it and the photos are coming out the same.  I've just replaced the color cartridge a few weeks ago, so it is not empty.  Any suggestions?
    I tried printing 5 photos, and all came out the same way - left side is printed correctly, right side is ruined.
    Right-click here and choose "Save As" to download a high res photo of the photos as they are coming out of the printer.
    -Gina

    Hi CrazySaguaro,
    It appears as if your colour cartridge is out of ink. If this is the case you should be able to see this in your ink gauge through the driver tool box.
    Here is steps how to check this
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00575972&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=467980

  • OpenOffice and ePDFViewer only print in red, GIMP is fine

    Hi, I have this strange problem with my printer. When I try and print something with either OpenOffice or ePDFViewer they print in red. If I convert whatever document I want to print into pdf, open it in GIMP and print from there, no problems, grayscale the way I want it. I've tried printing with the settings specifically set to Grayscale but OO and ePDF still screw up. Anyone have an idea of what's going on?
    By the way it's an "HP Deskjet D2430" and I'm using the "HP Deskjet d2400 Series hpijs, 3.9.4b.10" driver.

    if that's the case, did you try printing from acroread instead? (judging from the info gathered from your link)
