C650 Webcam failing to initialise.

I have a C650 model (C650-196 I think, though I don't know how to check ) and the inbuilt webcam has stopped working. Whenever I load the laptop up, I get an alert box saying the webcam has failed to initialize. Skype and MSN tell me I have no webcam, and it is not listed under any device listings on my computer. Therefore I'm assuming the problem is with the device and not the software, but I'm no expert so I'm unsure.
I don't know how to fix this problem. Will I have to send the computer off for a new webcam? Or is there a solution?
Anyone else had this problem??
Thanks.
Stacey

Hi
Khalid....... when I first had the laptop in January the webcam worked. Now when I login I have a popup that says webcam failed to initialize please restart the programme? I can't find the programme. My husband who is really good with computers has looked and even he cant find how to fix this. I did restore my laptop back to factory settings as someone else suggested to me and it still doesn't work. I have gone to Toshiba website and downloaded drivers etc, still getting same message, therefore I am not getting anything at all!
Akuma....when I first had laptop the webcam worked with Windows Live Messenger. I don't have Yahoo Messenger and I did use Skype for a while but since restoring laptop back to factory settings have not downloaded it.
I bought the laptop with Windows 7 installed. All the programmes you asked if I have that might clash are in my list of programmes as what Windows 7 recommend.

  • I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, but the installer fails to initialise. How do I get it to work?

I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 installed on my PC. Both were installed from discs that I bought a few years ago. I recently purchased the upgrade (by download) for both applications to version 13. In accordance with the (scant) instructions received by email, I downloaded the four files required from the Adobe site. I subsequently ran the .exe files, which in turn created directories on my PC, including set-up.exe files for both applications. When I run the setup files, I get an error message stating that the installer failed to initialise. The error message advised me to download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. That tool does not exist. I then sought assistance from the Abobe support site, initially using the hyperlink suggestions, which were of no use, then using the chat function. The operator kept trying to get me to do something with something called 'Creative Cloud'; which I am not familiar with, and do not use. He then instructed me to download and run a CS5 cleaner tool; however, none of the choices offered by that tool include my issue, or either Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements. I am reluctant to uninstall version 10 of the programs in case I end up losing the lot and therefore wasting even more money than the purchase price for this upgrade.
All I want to do is upgrade my two applications from version 10 to version 13. I have paid the requisite fee but it clearly does not work. I appear to have totally wasted my money. Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work? I do not want to have anything to do with the so-called ‘Creative Cloud’ as I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to lose what I already have (and have paid for previously).
I have tried for a few days to access the so-called 24/7 chat assistance but appeared to have been locked out as every time I try to access it, I get a message that the (24/7) chat is closed. Adobe has taken my money for a product that does not work, and also refuse to help me fix it.
I am very frustrated with a product I bought that does not work, and a 24/7 support service that clearly is not 24/7, and which refuses to assist me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get this to work? Rod.

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • Photoshop CS6 Installer failed to initialise?

I have just bought a student copy of Photoshop CS6 Extended, and whenever I try to install it I get the message - ' Installer failed to initialise'.
I am running OSX Mountain Lion, on a 2012 Macbook Air. I have tried installing on a new user, as well as using the Adobe Support Advisor (No Problems detected) - I have also tried using the 'Creative Suite Cleaner Tool' to remove any old things. It still doesn't work. I don't have any other Adobe Programs currently installed.
I couldn't find any helpful advice in the other forum posts so I made my own.

I have the same issue.  Also running mountain lion.
    this is the PDApp.log
i have tried changing permissions as seen from another post but nothing seems to be working.

  • Flash 10.3 "failed to initialise"

    Hi All
I've been creating an image for distribution on a number of kiosks, running Windows XP SP3 & when I do a fresh instal of Flash 10.3 (i.e. the version released today) I get a "Failed to Initialise" message. Further more the flash.exe installer file vanishes from my desktop. I have been downloading the player directly from Adobe. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm trying an older version of flash instead.
    Kind Regards
    Craig

Further to this, I have installed 10.2 - now any flash site I see says flash player is not installed. Further more, the adobe flash about page will not display as IE states the publisher cannot be recognised. Has there been a huge screw up at Adobe?

I've tried uninstalling, updating everything on my computer, restarting but nothing fixes it?? It worked once, the first time I opened it but once I closed it it started doing this. Help appreciated :/

Opening this folder worked for me... it asked me to obtain permission to read the folder and once this was done the program started ok.

You would need to replace Holly with your user name and it might be slightly different on your version of windows.

  • Laptop presario cq61 compaq fails to initialise when i try to open power2go with win 7

ive never used the power2go burner that came with my laptop ,i bought it just over a year ago from curries and in the end i took it back with in the waranty and they said they fixed it but they never 4 times in a row i would get it home and it never worked each time, now i have a different dvd burner because the last time i told them to replace it coz it dont work at all now its doing the same thing,it fails to initialise, doed any one know what i can do to sort this out as its a pain in the ass

Yes - (see above) - ' I have tried many fixes for this including setting keepconn, autodisconnect,
and adding LmCompatibilityLevel in the registry. None of these appear to change anything
(the behaviour, I mean) and I keep regularly and intermittently lose the mapped drive connections. '
This article explains perfectly what is happening to me, although I don't seem to have a "server
side" or a "computer" to run some of the server side fixes (nb I have still tried them all on the client side anyway)
This is because the networked drives are attached to my router and not another computer. All the
server side fixes seem to need a computer to run them or they tell you to - do this or that on the server side. THow can I apply server side fixes to my router?? Anyway my router seems to be set up and functioning correctly as everything works aok except for
the fact both the mapped connections keep dropping out. (even when I am using them ie transferring files.
Again I reiterate there seems to be an ARMY of frustrated Win 7 users out there experiencing similar
issues. This is really annoying as I bought the router (and drives) specifically for the 2 usb ports that would allow me to move all my media to two external networked drives and make my libraries available anytime for all my devices.
What a complete waste of time and money when windows prevents me from using my router with attached
    storage as intended.
I can tell you all now I don't think anyone on the planet can solve this issue for me and  thousands of other disgruntled users. The proof of this is the endless forums dating way way back and still there is no fix from microsoft.
Why does this connection keep dropping out???? How come it is happening when I am actively using the connection???? I am at my wits end.

  • NILM.EXE Application failed to initialise properly 0xc0000142

    Hi,
I have recently had to reload windows (xp pro 2003 sp 3)  onto my laptop and eventually got round to reinstalling labview 6.1. during the install, i get the repeated message "nilm.exe - the appication failed to initialise properly 0xc0000142" after which the system grinds to a halt under the weight of many many copies of nilm.exe failing to initialise in the same way...
I had a look around and discovered that the solution might be to disable this
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/8355753BD0C8E62F8625768C005B359B
.. which i did.. but unfortuanely it didnt seem to work...
    does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Did you receive any errors during the installation of LV 6.1 during installation? If so please take a look at the 6.1 ReadMe.txt which offers some registry keys you can comment out that may resolve the problem. If this doesn't help then what's different to this installation versus the one that worked previously, was that under XP SP3 as well? I'd re-check that you install 6.1 with the virus guard turned off, and that the virus guard allows exceptions i.e. nilm.exe on your system as it may be a security related issue preventing NILM.exe from starting.
    Kind Regards,
    Applications Engineer

  • Im trying to install Photoshop Elements premier 12 on my new Mac with the latest update and i keep getting the same failed to initialise message.

Im trying to install Photoshop Elements premier 12 on my new Mac with the latest update and i keep getting the same failed to initialise message. I was able to register the key code at first but now im not able to either open the program or reinstall it.

What is "Photoshop Elements Premier 12"? Do you mean Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements? Were your files copied over from a previous mac that had PSE installed on it?

    Any ideas???
    Thanks
    Gene

Forget it.   Figured it out.  The account associated with ACS needs access do the directories.  I gave it local admin access to the box and all is well.  Have no idea how it changed, but I have a suspision that our system admin tightened up security and took the AD account associated with ACS and stripped its permisstions away, so I just gave it local admin access to the box.
    This worked
Thanks Gene......Oh your very welcome!!!    :-)))))

  • Satellite A350-20Q - WEBCAM FAILED or is DISABLED

Can anyone help me to get my webcam back?
Went on one of those geek websites which tells you how to make your computer run faster, by disabling things youre not using. Cant remember what I've done but webcam doesnt work anymore. Tried reinstalling Drivers and rebooting Camera Assist Software but the same message comes up every time - "WEBCAM FAILED or is DISABLED".
Would appreciate any help or advice before I have to pay the local computer shop to sort it out.

Somehow the operating system cannot detect the cam.
What you can try is to test it with factory settings. If the same will happen again I presume it is hardware related issue. Webcam can be defective or it is not connected properly to the mainboard.

  • Purchased a new iMac - installed CS5 CD - message - Installer failed to initialise....

Purchased a new iMac - installed CS5 CD - message - Installer failed to initialise....

You need to copy all the installer disc to the desktop, Folder by folder. for example, Copy the contents of Payloads folder on Disc 2 to payloads folder of Disc 1, Extension to extensions, etc
Then you will see the setup.app file on the Folder that you created on the desktop.
    Run that and check.
