C7 - WLAN Connecting automatically, even when set ...

Hi, my C7 always connects to the home WLAN even it is set to "Manual" and not switch to known WLANs..... I tried turning the widgets offline too.... but it always connects to the WLAN after a few seconds.
This is annoying because when I want to use Joikuspot I have to be really fast to launch it before it connects and blocks the WLAN interface for joiku....

I faced similar issues when using the built-in nokia web bowser and there are a couple of solutions you can try:
1) when changing between wifi hotspots
     * make sure your access point is defined for that hotspot:
       menu>web (activate built-in browser)>options >settings>general>access point>options>
       select access point>select your wifi access point.
     *how to add modify access point:
      menu>settings>connectivity>settings>destinations>you can add/modify here
      the access poitn you selected should correspond to your wifi hotspot.
2) if you have saved bookmarks in the built-in web browser, the last access point you used
is probably saved as default, I always encounter this when I start yahoo.
   Here is what I did when I encountered it in yahoo:
   menu>web (built in browser)>your bookmark (e.g. yahoo) [press slightly longer, until you see the circular arrow and then a submenu]>edit>modify the access point corresponding to
   your hotspot (you will see the previously saved access point).
3) If the 2 above options will only make it more troublesome for you, please download another
     browser such as Opera Mobile

IPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even when set to automatic.

iPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even though iTunes says "Update is Complete" and even when set to automatic update. It mounts both in iTunes and on the Desktop.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have alredy tried rebooting both the iPod and computer.

Welcome to the discussions.
Sounds like you've got Disk Use enabled. Try unchecking the Box "Enable Disk Use" under iTunes>Preferences>iPod Tab.

Every time I try and update my iphone 4 to ios 7.1 in iTunes 11.1.5 it says "connection reset" even when there is no problem with my connection

I have an iPhone 4. I use iTunes 11.1.5 on my Mac. I am trying to update to ios 7.1 through iTunes, but every time I do that, I get a "connection reset" error, even when I know there has been no problem with my connection.
The exact error message is as follows:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Anne's iPhone". The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
I have checked several times. There is no problem with the connection, and I have tried to download the software several times today.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Just managed to successfully download the update, having retried five or six times. I did unplug my phone while the download was taking place (had asked iTunes to download only, not to update) -- suspect this had no bearing on it whatsoever, and that persistence is the only way here.

How can I stop Firefox from going to an https url automatically even when I type in http?

The browser is loading https websites even when I type in http. Asking for security certificates, etc. My home page is listed as http:// ....but when Firefox opens it, it is https://
I have changed the autobar fill in abbout:config, but it has had no effect.
The only solution I've seen on the Internet so far is to switch to Chrome, something I'd prefer not to do.

Google has recently started switching everything over to HTTPS, so you may want to check Google help about that.

Constant "connecting msg", even when Mozilla is checking for updates. IE explorer is working while Mozilla fails.

Problem resolved now... disabled all add-ons and rebooted.

IOS 8 mail app only archives even when set to delete for gmail

iOS 8 and Gmail is behaving oddly with regard to delete and is still only archiving them. Option IS set to the delete option in the account setup and not archive. I have read the Apple guideance documents on deleting and archiving in Gmail accounts.
In iOS mail app in gmail account , long swipe left (delete), short swipe left then choose trash and short swipe and choose move to trash all have the same effect on message. The message disppears from inbox and if you look in the trash folder for the gmail account you momentarily see message as it syncs with server then the message disappears from trash folder. (looking directly at server shows message not present).
However looking at the "All mail" gmail folder shows message STILL present there.
Compare with the iOS Gmail app. Delete a message from inbox and it appears in trash folder and stays there. At this time it is also still present in the All Mail folder. Choose then to delete forever option and disappears from both Trash AND the All Mail folder.
iOS Mail app with Gmail accounts appears with the TRASH option only to move emails to trash locally but then as soon as sync with server it disappears from the Trash folder with no further action but remains in the All Folder. This is in effect an Archive. It should
work as as the Gmail iOS app - messages deleted or trashed are moved to Trash (from where they can be restored ) and remain there till deleted permantly manually or the Trash can is automatically purged after set time on server.

Seems to work properly for me. Are we looking at the same place? to instruct it to Delete instead of Archive:
In Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (select account) > Account (select your e-mail address) > Advanced.
Mailbox Behavior for Deleted Mailbox: Trash.
then
Move Discarded Messages Into: Deleted Mailbox.
It wasn't this way by default. Move Discarded was Archive, and it gave the results you described. Changing that to Deleted works for me.
I set the Swipe left-to-right to Archive. So now one swipe will Archive, the other will Delete.

These features are most likely result of faulty battery. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

Calender automatically deletes entries even when set to "keep forever"

Help!! I'm a new blackberry curve owner, and I am very dependant on my calender. It's just started deleting past entries (anything over 24 hours) even though my settings are to "keep forever". I have contacted my service provider and they said it's because I've run out of memory and calender entries and text messages are low priority. Is there anyway to ensure they don't get deleted? Is there anything I can do (other then set the texts to keep for only 15 days - already done) to ensure I always have enough memory? Is there anyway to recover my deleted entries? I don't have it synched to my computer or outlook. Much thanks!

Deleted messages that are not synced are gone. I am sorry. Please go to options > status > and post your file free. It is VERY likely this is your issue.
To free up memory make sure that your pictures are on a media card, that you remove any messages/MMS you dont need, delete unused applications, etc.

Tcp listen accepts multiple simultaneous connections even when closed

I am trying to set up a server that will recieve data from multiple clients. If I set up a TCP listen vi on the server, then I have found that any (or the same) client can open multiple connections on this port and send data to it even though the server has only called the TCP listen VI once and only has a reference for the first connection. The subsequent connections seem to be accumlating in the port buffer and the data can in fact be retrieved with subsequent calls to TCP listen on that port regardless of whether the client has closed the connection long ago and forgotten about the transaction.
This could perhaps be considered either a feature or a bug. For me it is undesirabl
e. I would prefer that attempted connections to the server were rejected if the server is not actually actively listening on the port. Otherwise clients can easily flood the port.
Is there some way to control this behaviour, or perhaps a completely different approach? or is there some way to control the port settings such as buffer size or max number of connections allowed, and a way to clear the buffer without processing all the connections?

I don't seem to get the same behaviour you describe.
When you say 'if the server closes the connection after reading the first request, then it will not process the rest of the requests waiting in the queue'. I find that after the server closes the connection (with TCP close connection) then there can still be a huge backlog of connections to the same port (requests) which are still waiting to be processed. Another call to TCP listen retrieves one of the old ones, it doesn't wait around for a legitimately new request from a client.
Where you say 'When you leave the connection open on the server side, you can receive multiple commands this way, but it also blocks other clients from connecting until the curre
nt client disconnects'. This is in fact my main difficulty. Even with a connection held open other clients (or the same client) CAN make other connections and send data through that connection. This then backs up if the server is not processing them faster than recieving them.
I've attached vi's which should demonstrate the issue.
I couldn't check your vi's. I'm missing the EOC error.vi and one other I think. Ultimately I hope to do something similar with multiple open connections, but still need the server to be able to refuse connections if it wants to. Something I don't seem to be able to do. The connections just keep coming regardless of how the server is set up.

How to keep NetStream.Connect alive even when noone is connected?

is there any timeout set for NetStream.Connect? I am having an issue when one streamer goes to 2way channel and waits for another party to join but after about 1 minute (if noone is receiving that streamer signal) the NetStream.Connect.Close event is fired up. I want to be able to wait little bit longer.
Any help much appreciated.

Hello, I am running Windows 7 Professional. Can you please correct the Spotify desktop application so it does not keep forgetting my preference to NOT start when Windows starts. If I set it to "no" in the advanced settings, it conveniently forgets this and starts anyway, at which point upon returning to the settings I find that it has been changed back to "yes" or "minimised". When I said no I meant no - I even removed it using MSConfig but it's still finding a way to start. I want to run it when I want to listen to music, not to have it sitting idle in the background clogging up resources when I'm not using it. Please fix or it's a fast track to uninstall.

After you have changed the preferences to "no" ,try deleting "prefs" file in "user"/AppData/Roaming/Spotify andWhen you run spotify.exe next time it should make a new "prefs" file with your "no" preference in it.

Satellite C660-115 WLan connection only works when power cable is connected

Hello,
I bought a satelite C660-115 a few weeks ago. I would like to surf the internet anywhere in my home without any wires/cables.
From the first day I had this problem: when I disconnect the _power_ cable, the wireless connection will stop working.
The webpage on my screen will still be there, but loading a new page is a problem.
Sometimes it helps to reload (pressing F5), sometimes not. It always helps to "repair the ip-adress", but not for long.
The only solution is to atach the power cable, regardless of how much power the battery still has.
When I do so,there is no problem whith the connection at all.
I went back to the shop where I bought it, they connected to their own wireless network and they had the same problem after a few minutes. In the shop too attaching the power cable solved the problem.
So the problem must be in my lap top, not in my network (modem or so).
Does this all sound familliar and if so, how can I fix it?
I hope my English is understandable, I live in Holland.

Ipod classic 5G backlight turns off when in dock even when set to 'always on'-any ideas?

I have just inherited an Ipod classic 5G from my son. It all works fine except when I put it into my Ruark audio dock when the backlight then switches off and so I cannot see the tracks. I have it set to backlight always on. I have tried waking it up but it still stays dark. It is fine if I use it with the jack connection on all my other systems. Is this a common problem or am i doing something wrong or can it be got round?? This is my first attempt with an ipod so I am a bit of a novice!

Is it a known but that the outgoing SMTP user ID is always set to the same as the incoming even when set differently?

I'm trying to figure out where to report this: I keep noticing that when I setup a new account and I set the incoming and outgoing user names differently, the outgoing one never is honoured; it always sets it the same as the incoming one and I have to manually go into the outgoing settings to change it. Just wondered if this was known, thought it might be worth reporting.

Cookies appearing even when set to "Never"

Hi,
Ever since the new Safari update, I constantly get cookies from Google, even though I have NEVER set in preferences under "accept cookies". This happens many times during the day, and I am constantly deleting it, but soon after it's there again.
Can someone tell me how to stop this from happening?

But are you using a Google service, such as Google Desktop or Google Reader, etc. Those can set cookies, too. It doesn't have to be cookies from browsing.
You don't need to constantly delete cookies. You can do that at the end of a browsing session; anything more frequent is wasting your time.
