As some programs do work and others dont its most likely not an hardware issue. As wel that printing from a memory chip works as wel proves this. So its most likley a software issue.
On the software disc of the printer find the Folder UTIL, and in there find the folder CCC. In that folder there should be a file called Uninstall_L4.bat (with or without the .bat added to it depending on your computers settings. Run that file and it will remove and cleanup your software. Reinstall it after that and try know.

  • Brand new print cartridge is damaged

I purchased a 3-pack of 901XL print cartridges from Sam's Club several months ago.  I used 2 without any problems, but when I opened the third, the cartridge is damaged and unusable.  The copper strip is partially torn and there's a hole in the cartridge.  The packaging was not damaged in any way, so the damage had to occur in the manufacturer's factory before packaging. I can't return the cartridge since it was purchased several months ago, and I doubt if I still have the receipt.  I'd like HP to exchange it, but I can't find any way to contact support to ask.  Does anyone have ideas?  Thanks....

  • Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned, still not printing

Recurring problem on this printer, nothing helps.  Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned the inkheads twice, read though solutions for de-clogging the vents.  Able to print documents fine this morning, now---nothing.  Black ink not printing.  Frustrating, this is a recurring problem and am tired of going through more ink.  Ran alignment, just says "alignment failed" but no solutions offered/no troubleshooting given.  Suggestions?

    Hi @OL5,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Photosmart is not printing black. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
The Product/Model Number of your printer. Follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, or refills.
Once I know this information, I will be happy to do some further research for you.

  • Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one print

Both my HP D4360 and my HP 940C printers have brand-new HP cartridges in them and neither one of them print correctly (half way). I made sure that the cartridges bleed out very well (on a damp paper towel until ink bleeds out) yet the characters come out very skipped, lined and in short, look terrible. Both printers should have been covered under the lawsuit against HP but I've yet to see a dime and I've been through more cartridges than I can count. With that said, I'm open to hearing any type of device short of thrilling the printer out the window of a 30 story building window because they both should work quite well. Any suggestions, ideas or what should I do next because I'm quite frustrated and the money doesn't grow on trees in my neighborhood or checking account. • Print Cartridge Problem: Tricolor - HP Officejet J4680 All In One

I am seriously going to have an anxiety attack. I run a business from home & I HAVE to have a printer. I just spent $50 on new ink cartridges. My printer was working fine for the last week, and then tonight I have this error message:
Print cartridge problem: [Tri Color] . Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot
SO I reset the printer, shut it on and off, cleaned the cartridge and the printer, switched out the new cartridge with the old one ~ same problem. Over and over.
I called HP and they said that since my printer is out of warranty they can't help me unless I purchase a new warranty plan. What horrible customer service. This printer is a product of HP and I should be able to get help regardless of when the warranty expired.
This is so frustrating. If I can't get help, I think I would rather buy a new printer of a different brand instead of paying for a warranty after I just spent 50 bucks on ink. GRRR!

  • Tired of getting On-Screen Message about aligning new print cartridges.

    Hello,
I have an hp Deskjet 5440 Printer. Every few minutes I'm getting the message (on the monitor screen): "If you have just installed a new print cartridge it is recommended that you align it. Click on "Align" to align your new print cartridge."
I use generic ink cartridges which the printer does not recognize so I never go through the alignment process.  I did not like using the alignment process even before I started  using generic cartridges because it seemed to be a waste of paper, ink, and time. So, whether I'm using generic or hp cartridges I'm getting the message - over & over & over. It really takes the fun out of using my computer. Can anyone tell me how to stop these #$%^* messages?
    Thank you,
    Bakwtr

The way to stop the alignment messages is to complete the alignment process.  Regardless whether the cartridges are new or refilled the alignment process should be done. In addition to the alignment (necessary for best print quality, you may not care) the process also sets the correct operating energy for the printheads. This is important to get the best quality and also life from the cartridges.  The amount of ink used in the alignment is tiny, particularly compared to the ink that may be wasted if the printer is not using the correct printhead energy (and temperature).

  • Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]

I have HP officejet 4500. On installing the new cartridge, I get error message "Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]. Refer to device documentation for troubleshoot." I have run diagnostic test 41 and it shows Previous error as "Pen in left chute has too many good resistors, probably means shorted fires". Can somebody help me what does this error means?

Hello, I see by your post that you are getting the message "Print Cartridge problem : [Tri Color]. Refer to device documentation for troubleshoot." I can help you with this.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue. Manually cleaning the cartridges and contacts and resetting the printer.'Incorrect Print Cartridge' or 'Print Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Computer. Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
What are the ink levels? If you need further assistance, just let me know. Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Error message: Printer cartridge problem

I'm copying only at the moment.  A small stack of papers.
Suddenly the printer seemed like it was taking too long on a page, and it just kept staying in the same position but nothing was happening.
Finally I tried to shut it down but it wouldn't shut down.  It said, shutting down, but it wasn't.
So I unplugged it and waited a bit, then plugged it back in.
Then it appeared to be OK but when it started the copying process again, it stopped and gave that error message.
Is it something as simple as it's out of ink?  But I don't think it should be.  It wasn't showing that it was low.
    Any suggestions, anyone?

    Hi melegay,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you were trying to copy on your HP Printer and the paper was not feeding, you did a hard reset now your printer's front panel is saying 'Printer Cartridge Problem'. Can you please let me know the Exact model of HP Printer you are using?
Please start here: 'Ink Cartridge Problem' Message Displays on the Product Control Panel. Follow these steps in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the steps resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
If you are still getting the error message let me know and leave me with the requested information.

  • Installed all new printer cartridges but prints blank pages

I installed brand new official HP ink cartridges today. I aligned the cartidges, cleaned the printer head, etc and it just prints a blank page?

The post here has links to a troubleshooting document for the Photosmart 6520.  If the steps there do not resolve the issue please call HP Support, even if the printer is not longer under warranty.  In the US or Canada call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the document here for contact information.  If the above does not give satisfactory results then please post back here with details including your country.

  • Why can't I use brand new 564 cartridges in place of 920 cartridges?

Had to replace my old Photosmart Premium Fax C309 series printer with an Officejet 6500A.  Problem is, I have all these brand new 564 ink cartridges for the old printer, which fit properly into the new printer.  But when I installed the 564's in the new printer, I got a message saying (in essence) "Hey!  You can't do that!"
    Why not?

I just happened to come across this post and had to respond.
First I thought this was a sarcastic reply to the original question, but then I began thinking, this is probably a real response.  They were probably really trying to be helpful.  Unfortunately it turns out that they wasted not only their own time in responding, but at least 67 others that have viewed the post.  What makes matters worse, this person is probably employed by HP.
HP used to be a great company with tremendous products and support.  Now they seem to just push out cheaper and cheaper printers and constantly are changing ink cartridges in hopes of making people waste brand new cartridges.  And their support has gone WAY down hill.  What used to be arguably the best support is now near the bottom.  Other than AT&T's support, I can't think of one worse than HP's now.
    Way to go Carly Fiorina!!!

  • 7520 Photosmart Printer Cartridge Problem Missing or Damaged

I am looking for help because we keep getting a cartridge problem stating one or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. When we bought the printer, we had problems getting the cartridges to work. This is our first time changing any color cartridges and we get this same issue. After two days of trying everything, as soon as I logged on to this site, the cartridges decided to work. But I am hoping someone can give suggestions to make this process easier in the future. We followed all directions and put in read HP cartridges that were brand new. We could get all but blue and yellow to work. Then we could get yellow and not blue; then blue and not yellow. The system keeps giving the message Cartridge Problem.

Ours is now working, but I have no way of knowing what we did differently to get the cartridge to work. They are all HP cartridges. We just kept putting them in over and over. I had given up and logged on to this chat room and suddenly it recorgnized the last cartridge. I was hoping someone could give us a hint of what the problem would be so we could avoid it next time. My only suggestion to you is to keep trying. Sometimes it helped with one cartridge to tilt it slightly. It is very frustrating because you are correct that you cannot do ANYTHING until you fix the problem. If you could at least print in black and white, it would not be so irritating. We have owned a number of HP printers, and this has never been an issue with the prior ones.

  • New ink cartridge problem

My black ink cartridge needed replaced. I put the new one in and when I printed the test sheet it had only black and no color on it. I get a message it cannot be calibrated. I have never got this before. Any suggestions?

Hello ,  I may be able to help you with the colour printing issue on your Photosmart D110. Usually the calibration the printer wants to complete is the alignment. The alignment page needs all colours and black to complete successfully. When was the last time you replaced your colour ink cartridge? If you believe it does have ink, you could try the steps in Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart e-All-in-One. Please Note: HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this post might not resolve the issue you experiencing. You could also see how non-HP supplies compare to refilled or remanufactured cartridges from the Buyers Lab Report.
I would also suggest reviewing the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies.  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • HP Printer cartridges problem

    Hello,
My Photosmart C4480 was ok for 3 years.
Now I am having cartridges problem. It keeps saying wrong kind of cartridges.
Should I just go get a new one?
What is the life span of the printer?
    Thanks in advance  !!

First pull out the cartrdiges and check the dates on them, if they are expired they might need replacing. Also try to print a testpage by pressing the [Cancel and power buttons together, you should get a message "special key combo" ], then blue, green, gray. You will be in a hidden menu now, in that menu go to Reports Menu and then to Selftest.
Please scan this page and add it to your post by clicking the insert/edt picuter button and i will have a look.
