C7280 prints multiple copies of any print request

I have a Photosmart C7280. It is connected wirelessly to three computers at home. One is running Win7 (Home Premium), one is running Vista (Home Premium, SP1), and one is running XP (Home, SP3). It works perfectly with the XP machine.
However, when printing any document (simplex or duplex, single page or many pages) from the Win7 or Vista computers, it is printed on this printer multiple times. It has nothing to do with the number of copies requested. I have reinstalled the printer software several times and it has made no difference. One time I reinstalled it I requested the test page to be printed, and I watched as it printed copy after copy of this single page sent from the installation package . I left it just to see how many it would produce. After about 25 I opened the printer activity window on the PC and saw that the status was 'Printing' as you would expect. However, as each page was produced, the status changed to 'Printing - Restarting', and another copy came out. I suspect this would go on forever. Both parts of the Pages entry (x/y) seemed to change, with numbers I couldn't understand. Hitting Cancel on the printer just cancels that particular copy and another just comes along. The only way to stop it is to cancel the print from the PC. This is a bit tedious to say the least.
It will print an unknown number of copies of any document sent to it from Word or Excel. Printing from Adobe Acrobat sometimes does it right, and sometimes produces multiple copies. Switching it off and on has no effect as it just resumes from where it left off.
I contacted HP's email support a while ago but they tried to fix the wrong problem (not printing at all - I'm not sure if they actually read the problem as I laid it out, which was much the same as I have given above). When the issue finally penetrated it was a case of 'this is too complicated to deal with by email - you'll have to phone tech support'. At a price though. So, does anyone here have any ideas before I spend a fortune on phone bills? All the MAC and IP addresses seem set right (same on all machines), and turning off ZoneAlarm makes no difference. The problem has survived a change in my wireless router.
This hasn't been a huge issue for us as most of the printing on this machine has been done from the XP machine, but that's about to get replaced and any new one will come with Win7, no doubt. I'd like to get this resolved before that happens.

Thanks for your reply... searching on Google one can see that's an issue that plagues HP printers and not only under Windows. It must be an issue with the printer or its driver because it happens also under several versions of Mac OS X. Good luck to you I hope by now you solved the issue on your own. The support by HP is abysmal! My client's OfficeJet 4500 series has the same issues under OS X still unresolved.
My current solution (may not work for you): sell the HP printer and buy a different one. I've been burnt by Epson many times so that's no option either, but for SOHO uses, I found Brother Inkjets (like the MFP-J835DW I just took a chance on) to work fairly well across Macs and PCs. Works great for me so I recommend to all my SOHO clients. No more ink and paper gets wasted, but most importantly no more time wasted in frustrations caused by sub-par printers with sub-par drivers and non-existing support... unless coming across to helping a client who made the mistake to buy an HP.
I'm set, no more HP (or Epson) for me so that's what I'd suggest, save money and time and get as far away as possible from HP they've shown they are not worthy of your business by leaving you stranded and shunning customers so why even consider investing your hard earned money in their products? Bring your business elsewhere.

Multiple copies problem with HP3550

Here's the problem. We have 2 HP Color Laserjet 3550's connected to our network and clients set to print through a Queue on our xServe (10.3.9). When trying to print multiple copies of any document, we only get the first copy. This has been set up this way for about 8 months now and this just started happening recently. Any thoughts. What you did BEFORE reinstalling AE may also be very significant. Did you follow the Adobe instructions for uninstalling the application from your particular computer & OS and then run the Adobe Cleaner application?

How can I delete multiple copies (600 ) of the same contact that ended up on my iPhone after backing it up on iTunes?

In syncing my iPhone 3GS on iTunes, I now have many copies of the same contact -over 1,000 in one case-on my iPhone. The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way.

Print multiple copies of a smartforms in a one spool request

Dear all,
I've a network printer "HP Laserjet 4250" configured with an output accessory "Sheet Stapler/Stacker".
With these accessory all pages of the same spool are stapled together.
For transaction VL02N we would print n copies of the same delivery using smartforms in this printer, so all copies will be stapled.
The problem is that in SPAD Copy Counter options if we set the choice "Pass copy counter to the host spool system" only one copy is printed;
it seems that copy counter parameters has no effects.
If we set the choice "Pass copies as separate Output Requests", the spool system will send a separate print request for each copy of a document to be printed; but with this option multiple copies are not stapled since they belong to different spool.
SAP System is ERP 6.0 EHP5 based on windows /SQL 2008 and the last kernel patch.
Any idea to solve the problem ?

Hello,
By default the number of copies is transferred to the OS host spooler
and handled by it.
The flag to pass copies is set in the Output Device definition via
transaction SPAD as follows:
SPAD -> Output Device -> <Output Device name> -> Output Attributes ->
'Pass Copy Counter to Host Spool System'
Can you please change this flag to:
'Pass Copies as Separate Output Request(in SAP System)'

Printing multiple copies of 3 page BOL in Duplex mode-

Hi Gurus!
I have created a smartform to print the BOL on front side and terms and conditions on back side. I used the duplex mode to print and it works perfectly fine. When I have a BOL with 3 pages of information , it prints the items on the front side and terms and conditions on the second side and it does everything absolutely correctly.
At our organization we always print 5 copies of any BOL and that is when the problem arises. When we do a printing of the BOL form with number of copies set to 5 , it prints very akwardly with the settings. First it prints page 1 front and same thing on the back, then again the first page on the first and its back and then front on the third side , then similarly 5 sides of terms and conditions and then followed by 5 sides of page 2 items and followed by 5 sides of terms and conditions, which is very akward. Actually it should print first set with page 1 and TC on back of it , then Page 2 and TC on its back and page 3 and TC on its side like it does when I make a single copy.
Is there any settings that I am missing thats making the above happen when I print multiple copies of the BOL?

Thanks for the reply. I changed the settings of the printer to 'Pass Copies as Separate Output Request(in SAP System)' and re-tried printing 5 copies of the BOL and it again seems to print the first page 5 sides then Terms and conditions on 5 sides, then again 5 sides of page 2 and followed by 5 sides of T&C.
My settings on the smartforms is front page "D' and the back and the Last page is blank setting. This runs well when I just have to print one copy of my BOL , it prints the front page and then T&C on its back side , then again the second page and T&C on its back . This only messes when its more than one copy of the set of BOL.
Please suggest as to what to do next to make it print in proper sets.

Printer issue - could not print multiple copies

We not able to print multiple copies (2 or more) in SAP level but we were able to print multiples copies using non SAP applications (i.e word, excel).
I already checked in UNIX level and I dont see any stuck spools.
Can you please help me on how can I resolve this issue.

In order to get multiple copies of prints from SAP you need to make following configuration.
go to SPAD
select the printer, from which you need to get multiple copies of prints.
Double click on it,
Now you will see the details of the printer with tabs like
Device Attributes , Access method , output attributes , Tray Info.
now select output attributes
there you will see Copy Counter with drop down selection. in that select
PASS COPIES AS SEPARATE OUTPUT REQUEST(IN SAP SYSTEM)

Why can't I print multiple copies?

Any idea why I cannot print more than one copy at a time? The print dialog window accepts the entry for multiple copies, but only one gets printed at a time, no matter how many copies I request (the printer status shows 1 copy also).
This has been going on for some time (I usually end up printing the sheets in Preview), but it is driving me nuts. The printer has been replaced (for other reasons) and Acrobat updated repeatedly, but the problem persists.
Any ideas? Thanks!

How does that manifest itself:
you cannot change the number of copies on the Print panel?
you can change the number of copies, but it prints only one?

MG7520 Printing Multiple Copies

I'm having this odd issue where my brand new MG7520 is printing multiple copies of a document, despite my only requesting one copy. It doesn't always seemt to do it, printing from Adobe Reader is fine, I get just one copy, but printing a webpage will just result in many copies of the same thing until I cancel the job. Seems very odd, any idea why this might be happening. Appreciate any insight anyone might have.

Essentially the printer is a passive device and it really only does what it is told to do. Probably a wonky network issue, but could also be settings you inadvertantly changed (like how many copies you want printed).
Do you have a USB cable? You can try to install it via USB then print to see whether it's the computer sending weird commands or if it's the network.

Multiple copies of the same printer showing up in the print pull down menu...

Hi... I just recently installed an Epson XP-410 wireless printer so that we could print from our iPads and iPhones. I don't know if this is the correct forum to ask the question(s) in or not, but here goes...
1. There are multiple copies of the printer showing up in the drop down print menu when I go to select the printer. How do I know which is the correct printer to choose, or does it matter?
2. Can I get rid of the un-needed multiples? If so, how?
3. Also, I have been having an issue with printing to it when I switch between programs. When I tried printing to it from a simple text editor, it came up and said that there was a communications issue. I used to have a Brother network printer connected via Ethernet, and had no issues printing from any of my computers, but I couldn't print from the iPad with the Brother. So, we bought the Epson. Anyway, I had to restart the computer to re-establish the link between my computer and the printer. Didn't think I should have to do this since it is a network (wireless) printer. Any thoughts on that?
For a little more information, our main computer is an iMac (20-inch) running OS 10.7.

Have you tried to force quit iBooks?
Double tap the home button. You'll see the app icons adn a preview show up on the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to get the preview and icon for iBooks on the screen. Flick the preview window up and off the screen. Then single tap on the home page preview, or on the home button to exit the mode then try to open iBooks again

* It's just an alternative to copy/paste and step/repeat.
* For a one-time only use, perhaps it's a little more complex than necessary. But for any future needs, only the content of the data file needs to be changed, either by editing, or by pointing to a new data file. If different cards for multiple people becomes necessary, it's ready to go.

Laserjet 5000 with windows 7 driver cannot print multiple copies unless disabling mopier

Customer has Laserjet 5000 that they have been using for approx 5 years. It is connected to one computer with the standard parallel cable and the driver is using lpt1. It is used mainly to print word documents and a multi page publisher document. The computer used to be a windows xp computer and all worked well with the PCL6 driver and that is the only driver that was used
They just bought a new Windows 7 32 bit computer and now it has lost some of the functionality.
The first driver that was loaded was the driver that Windows 7 used after you use the windows update button that you get during the add printer wizard. I think it was the pcl 5 driver as that is the driver that the computer will install if you remove the printer and then restart the computer. Using this driver, when you choose to print more than one page or multiple copies, it will just print the first page or copy and there will not be any errors displayed.
I have since downloaded the PCL6 driver, PS driver and PCL5 driver from HP's website and tried all of them.
The PS driver will print more than one page, but when it gets to about the 4th page the printer prints out an error page. The error is PCL XL error, Subsystem: Kernel, Error: Unsupported protocol, Operator 0x0, Position:0
The PCl 6 driver will print the same error page and not print any print jobs, even if it is just a single page, single copy job.
The pcl 5 driver prints one page and then stops printing, no errors.
When I disable the mopier under device settings, the pcl5 driver will print everything just fine. Only problem is, it will not collate. The collate checkbox is available and checked when we try the multiple page multiple copy publisher document, but it just prints out as if we do not have collate checked. If we could get collation to work, than we are good to go.
I have not tried the PS driver with the mopier disabled.
The PCL6 driver stills returns the pcl xl error with the mopier disabled.
The printer does not have any extra memory, just the 4 mb standard that came with the printer. I am wondering if this is a memory issue triggered by Windows 7and I just need to get more memory for the printer. (Computer has 4 gb of memory)
Anybody else have a similar issue and got theirs fixed?

What drivers are you using?
Did you download the drivers or are you using the Windows preinstalled drivers?
If you are using the Windows preinstalled drivers then I would download the latest drivers. Here is the URL for the HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue automatically.

HP Laserjet 1022nw printing multiple copies

HELP! Ever since I purchased my new laptop with Windows 7, my LaserJet has been going crazy. I reinstalled new drivers and used the HP diagnostic tool and it says "all is working correctly". However, when I print a document of any size (even if just one page), the printer keeps re-printing multiple copies until the paper runs out or I turn the printer off. I have un-installed and reinstalled several times and the same issue keeps happening. I posted on the forum and one other person related that he had the same issue, but to this date neither of us have been able to correct it. I love my laser jet when it works, but have resorted to using my hp photosmart 7960 instead (higher cost of ink!). And this sucks because sometimes I have 50-100 page documents that I need to print. Laser is so much faster. Thanks in advance for the expert advice I know you are going to give me and the solution that I KNOW that you must have.

Problem with 4250dtn printing multiple copies Windows 7 64 bit

We can't print multiple copies from within some, but not all, applications to a Laserjet 4250dtn from Windows 7 64-bit workstaitons. Windows 7 32-bit ones work fine. The printer is served from a Server 2003 printer queue, but even when we print direclty to the port we only get one copy. Setting copy count from the printer dialog works fine, but we need to have the applications invoke multiple copies. We are using the UPD 64-bit driver; could not find a legacy driver for this printer for Win 7 64 bit. I've tried various tricks found elsewhere on this forum, including turning off mopier mode, printing directly to the printer, disabling advanced features, etc. to no avail. Help, anyone! Thanks. Thanks very much for the feedback. I was getting worried!
The command window opens when I double-click on the Developer Day VM and I get a few lines that scroll off the window about loading Linux .... These lines never come back and I can't scroll in the command window.
As soon as the above messages come into the command window the whole process stops. The window stays open but I get no response from it. I get no login prompt or anything.
Do you think it could be a VirtualBox setup issue? I downloaded and installed the product along with the extension pack with no apparent problems and when I start VirtualBox I see the Developer Day VM listed in the left panel. All I do at that point is double-click it like the download web site said but I don't get the same results, i.e. no chance to login. It seems all I can do at that point is close the window by clicking the 'X' and it asks me 3 things about what to do with the VM and I usually say to shut it down. None of the other options look any better either.
Any other suggestions are most welcome!!
