C8: Video Demo - red frame doesn't go away.

Not sure if this is a graphics card issue or a Captivate bug - I tried to use Video Demo to capture a small amount of video and had some issues:
First, the video did not stop recording when I pressed END.  The program actually shut down and I had to reload it - when I reloaded the program, it instantly brought up the video clip I was making.  I didn't save and attempted to start the video demo recording again.  This time it stopped recording, and the program didn't close, but I still had an issue with finding my way back to a 'normal' screen.  As I've never used the Video Demo portion of Captivate, I don't know if this is normal?
Second, the red frame that you use for the capture area will not go away.  I've closed the Captivate program, and the red frame is still on my monitor.  I turned my monitor off and on again, and the red frame is still there.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any solutions?

Hi there
If you position your mouse directly on the red frame, are you able to click and drag it to a new location or dimension? If so, it sounds like Captivate may be sort of "stuck" in some phase of the recording process.
PC or Mac?
If PC, try the three finger salute and see if you are able to terminate the process. Not sure if Mac has a similar operating system feature.
Cheers... Rick

  • Red frames in export with version 7.2.1

Sometimes when I export a material appears in any part of the video a red frame. Would i like to know what to do to solve my problem?
I have a MAC PRO OS X 10.8.5 and i'm using premiere pro cc 7.2.1.
    Thanks!!

    Hi William,
Can you update Premiere Pro to Premiere Pro CC (7.2.2) or CC 2014? That should solve your issue.
    Thanks,

  • Adding audio to Video Demo: Captivate 7

Hello, i have several questions about working with audio in a video demo in Captivate 7.
I have a video demo that was captured without audio, then the intended script changed signifigantly so the timing is way off (sometimes the video doesn't hold on a screen long enough for the narrator to finish talking, sometimes it holds too long).
Any tutorials out there for adding audio after the video demo is recorded, when the timing is all off and I need to hold on some frames longer than the movie does? I'm doing still screen grabs and inserting them as images for the duration of the hold, but there's got to be a better way!
Is there any way to add text-to-speech in the Video Demo (other than adding it in slide notes, exporting the audio file and then importing it to the background of the video demo?)
When adding audio to a Captivate 7 video demo, is it better to add it to the video (Edit Video Demo > Audio > Import to > Background) or to add it to the slide in the regular timeline? Pros/Cons? Best practice?
    Thanks!

Are you un-checking "Edit Volume" before you play it?
    Sue
Hi Sue, Thanks for your help, I am new to the Mac, so forgive me if I am slow!
    I cannot find "Edit Voume".
I can find "Show clip volume" in the "View menu" is that the same thing?
    Thanks for your help. Chatch

  • Imported MPEG has red frames, how do I solve this?

    Hi,
I've been playing with Premiere and just create the final movie on something I'm working and I happened to notice that almost at the end, there's a red frame in the video. What's up with that?
I play the original MPEG2 file in Windows Media Player (it was created with muvee Autoproducer and I'm doing editing in Premiere) and there's no red frame at all. But after importing it into Premier, there's a red frame.
Possibly more... How do I find all these red frames and what should I do to fix them?
I don't understand why they are red if the original doesn't have any...

Well, I read something about it that it was some kind of error yes and that I could see it on the events window, however, no errors were reported.
I found another document page at the Adobe site that talked about 3.2.0 update to Premiere (which I though I had, but I didn't) and that this update introduced these red frames and bla bla (but I has having them before the update). Anyway, I did the update, deleted all the cache files, opened the project, the files index was recreated and the red frame gone (at least on the frame I saw it before).
I'm going to produce a new output and then I'll just have to check for those red frames.
Maybe with this update and if the events window is really empty, maybe there are no errors (red frames) at all.
    I hope...
    Thanks for the input though.

  • Video demo dimensions

Using Captivate 6.0.1.240 on Windows 7, I captured a video demo. Be starting the capture, I carefully lined up the red rectangle very pricisely. However. the resulting video does not match the area of the red rectangle. The height is larger than the red rectangle.
Is there any way to capture the video to match exactly the area inside the red rectangle?

not sure if i understand your question correctly. are you looking for crop factors and pixel sizes for export to video? if so, it depends where are you (different sizes for ntsc, pal, 4:3, 16:9, hd).
or are you using a digital picture frame and need those dimensions?

  • CP 6.0.1.240 - Video Demo Project vs. Video Recording & YouTube

    Hello,
I have a project with two small slide videos included.  I recorded them using Record New Video Demo and I embedded them on 2 different slides using Video > Insert Video.  Once embedded I added text captions etc and timed them to coincide with the video.  When I preview the video, timing is dead on.  When I publish to YouTube, one of the two videos delays noticeably and it throws off the timiing of all the related captions, etc.  I tried F4V and MP4, I tried uploading using the YouTube button and directly, no change.  I even tried manually pushing the timing of the captions out to see if I could account for the delay on YouTube but it doesn't have to do with the slide just the pre-loading or starting of the video on that slide.  The fact that I have 2 slides each with an embeded video and one works fine and the other doesn't is driving me around the bend.  I compared the two slides side-by-side and could not find any differentiating settings.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try?
    Thanks
    Julie
UPDATE:  I went back to compare side-by-side the videos and I have noticed a difference.  One is called a Video Recording and the one that pauses for too long is called a Video Demo Project.  I could have sworn I recorded them in the exact same way.  This sounds silly but does anyone know what I did differenty; why one is a video demo and why the other is a video recorrding?

UPDATE:  When I finally published the video to YouTube, the hiccup or pause on the background audio seems to have resolved.  It was very evident in previewing the project and not noticeable once published to YouTube.  I have a new issue now as it relates to pausing but not of the audio of the video itself.  I will be posting a new thread for that.

  • Red Frames and .mxf read failures PP CC 2014 8.1 update. Oct 6.  Anyone else see the new update fail? Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I cut 9 hours worth of broadcast video in PP CC 2014 8.0. (The yellow interface.) I had no issues. It was all great. For some reason, before I exported the finished cuts for broadcast, I updated the Adobe CC 2014 suite to v1.8.0.447 (PP has the blue interface). I feel stupid. I broke my own rule of not updating software until the projects you work on are done. Now I can't open this project without Red Frames in my timeline and in my exports. I have been reading about this Red Frame that seemed to first appear in PP CC 7. (Maybe even as early as 2006) I never had the problem then, I run Premiere Pro everyday.
My Issue seems to be a bit different than most of the issues that have read. I have cleared the cache, & I have ditched the preview files. This did not fix it as stated it would in previous forum posts.  I have moved the footage location from a server to a local thunderbolt SSDrive and renamed the folders and re-linked the video footage. Still Red Frames.
What is odd, is when I boot up the project and after all media has loaded, it looks like it is going to work for a few minutes. I get happy and scrub the timeline checking for the red frames, hoping the problem solved when I cleaned the cache etc.. Everything seems to be fine, audio synch, picture, lower thirds and graphics all appear fine. Then the red frames appear over time, and by 5 minutes after scrubbing, I see mostly red frames. Audio is still there though. Even weirder, is that when I resize the height of the video track, the red frame comes and goes with no real pattern.  The clip preview picture flickers with the red frame. The red frames export through through Premiere and through a Media Encoder cue which say .MXF read error so I'm hooped. ( it does render the video, but has the red frames )
    I run a Mac Pro;
    OSX Yosemite 10.10
    3.5 GHz 6-cor Intel Xeon E5
    16 GB Ram
    AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
    Canon XF-305
    .MXF files
    1080p 29.97
    5 Cam Multicam Seq.
    Adobe CC 2014
    Version 1.8.0.447
    released on October 6, 2014
I am noticing something interesting with my source footage folders. I am getting some .mxfindex files with really long names, like temp files almost, that don't go away. I still get Red Frames after deleting them, clearing cache, changing drive locations and file and folder names and relinking. When I delete these long files the software wont boot the project very well and crashes a few times before it opens, still with red frames. This problem with this project occurs on every computer (4)  in the studio, which are the same as mine, we all updated at the same time.
    Files look like this:
What happened in that update? Is there a fix for this? Any suggestions? If not, Is it possible for me to roll back my whole CC 2014 version to 8.0?  I am terrified to open any other of our projects... I am under time pressure and am starting to do the re-edit of this in CS6 which seems to run flawlessly, but because of Adobe's RIDICULOUS FAIL in backward compatibility, I can not open this project in anything but PP CC 2014. 120 hrs of lost editing will certainly have me scratching my head about continued use. Any suggestion, links or information would be appreciated.
    Thanks .

You should still have a Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1 (8.0.1) project file available to you by default. Can't you go back to that version and complete your project? That's what I'm recommending those having this problem do.

As long as you ingest the footage via the Media Browser and do not update the project file, you shouldn't have issues like this. I have heard complaints in new projects with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), so I have reopened a previously closed bug.

Yes, I've seen this with another customer's updated project.

Sometimes, deleting sidecar files can help the situation but not always. It looks like you are having trouble when deleting them.

A bug that was fixed for red frames in 8.1 was somehow broken by the time we shipped this version. We have reopened the bug, but currently, there is no fix.

Yes, see my blog post here: Install a previous version of any Creative Cloud application
Included in the post is a patch for Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1 (8.0.1).

    Thanks .
You can always try exporting a FCPXML for backward compatibility, but for complex sequences (like multicamera), this isn't always an option. There aren't many NLEs providing backward compatibility, sorry. Feel free to request that, if you like, here: http://adobe.ly/feature_request

  • Premiere CC 7.1 - Red frames in playback and export

Having some problems after the 7.1 update.
In a variety of projects, on a variety of footage, we're experiencing random fully red frames (#ff000). Sometimes there are 1-2 frames in a clip, and occaisionally it's 80%-90% of the frames in a clip (this is less frequent). It has never been all of the frames of a clip.
    This happens:
    - On an undrendered timeline (you'll be watching an edit and you'll see a red frame - if you scrub back to it it'll still be there)
    - On a rendered timeline
    - In exports
Red frames that are visible on a timeline, are sometimes carried through to the export and sometimes not. Sometimes an exported file will display red frames that were not present on the timeline.
Red frames seem to be based on clips, not sequence frames. For example, in one of my exports, I had video footage with a lower third graphic over it. In one frame of the export, a red box appeared over the graphic, but the main shot was not affected.
This has happened to the following types of footage:
    - .MTS (from C100)
    - .MXF (from C300)
    - ProRes 422 MOV
    - ProRes 4444 MOV with alpha channel
    Fixes that seem to work:
    - If an export has red frames, re-export. Watch the new one like a hawk. Repeat until you get lucky.
    - If a clip on a timeline has red frames, force a re-render via a Crop filter or similar
    - Quit Premiere and reopen it
    System/environment details:
    - OSX 10.8.5
    - Premiere Pro CC 7.1
    - Mercury Playback Engine Software Only
    - Often (always?) I-Frame Only MPEG sequence settings
    - Much (all?) of the footage we've been working with has been on AFP shares via GigE with MTU of 9000
I haven't been able to confirm yet:
    - Whether this ever happens with locally stored footage
    - Whether this ever happens when Queueing to media encoder (rather than Exporting from Premiere)
    - Whether changing to a QuickTime Desktop based sequence setting resolves the issue
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? It's frutstratingly un-testable, since it seems to happen at random. We'll continue to gather data points though and see if we notice any other trends.
    Edit: Added additional system context

the error also appears with PRORES 422 files, but only after a certain amount of source data from prores 422 clips is processed / read
i made a test comp in AE with only one gigantic prores 422 source clip (8000 pixels x 1000 pixels @25fps) and the error first appeared at around 1500 frames read from the source file (equalling a few GB of source read and processed). after the red frames error appears once, the erroneous red frames appear more often but never in the same place when rendering the same comp several times)
i also made a test comp containing only a few full HD prores 422 clips (1920 x 1080, @25fps), there the error appeared only seldom (but still randomly). so it can be that a broader user base never experiences this erroneous behaviour at all.
i also made a testcomp containing about 40 full HD prores 422 clips (each 1920 x 1080, scaled down to 10% in size and distributed all over the comp so i can see them all at once). the erroneous red frames appeared within the first rendered frames!! obviously, many qt files had to be open and read in parallel, and so the error appeared from the very beginning of the rendering / export.
i suspect that the AE / PR applications open a RAM buffer for each open prores source file they need to read, and that this buffers somehow becomes compromised when it overflows and when buffer resize / buffer clear / flush operations take place.
of course i tested all sorts of RAM assignents for MP rendering (1GB per core, 2GB, 4GB, 6GB) and i rendered with several different settings of how many cores and ram should be available to other tasks. but the error always appeared. randomly.
--> fact in AE is, that nearly all MP renders / exports using prores clips as source files contained the bad red frames. when rendering without the MP option on (but of course up to 20x slower) so far i never experienced this error (of course always after fresh restarts once the error appeared)
    PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP

  • Red frames in Sequence/Exports

Hello. I'm experiencing red frames (some longer than others) within my timeline and on exported files. Sometimes they wont be on the timeline but appear in the export file and vice versa. I'm using XAVC-L codec from my Sony FS7 camera in a AVCHD 1080p timeline. I'm trying to export to H264 .mov files. This happens in both Premiere and by going through Media Encoder.
    Specs:
Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 Release 8.2.0 (65) build
    (New) Mac Pro Late 2013
    2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5
    32GB RAM
    AMD FirePro D500
    OSX 10.9.5

    Hi,
Have you tried exporting to a different format? I would suggest so.
You can also try to change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only under File > Project settings > General

  • ACME Video demo: Members can't log on

    Using: JDeveloper 3.0 (build 532)
Tesing the ACME Video demo in JDeveloper's own environment (ie, without a separate web server), no member can sign in to the ACME video store web interface.
    scott/tiger member/password doesn't work...
I proceeded to create a new ACME video member and to my surprise, I even received an e-mail welcoming me as a new ACME video member (very nice touch for the demo), but still when at the welcome screen for the ACME video store, I could not log in as a member with the new userid/password.
Just for interest sake, I tried to create another new user with the same member name and login as my first member that I created and as expected, it told me that that user existed. So, it is obviously referencing the database for verification that the member already exists, but member login just doesn't work for some reason.
When trying to login into the ACME video database member login screen, the error I get is the usual "invalid login" that you get when you enter an invalid password or userid.
I even tried entering the member# (eg, 2250 for scott/tiger) in case the interface was expecting the member# rather than the name, but no luck there.
I logged into the ACME Oracle database directly in SQL, and verified userid/password for all the members in the ACME_MEMBERS table, but none of the logins work.
Any ideas to what the problem is? I have yet
to track down the code where the password is being verified so that maybe I can see exactly why the login is failing, but I have not had any luck tracking it down as of yet. . . but I'll keep looking.
I'd really like to see this thing work to understand more about JDeveloper and it's features.

    hi mason mason,
iChat 3 has a feature that blocks multiple logins form the same screen name. this effects different apps on the same computer and trhe same name on different computers.
It also has a check box in iChat > Preferences > Accounts that can be set to over-ride this. (select the screen name on the left and then the Information tab)

  • Red frames in 7.2 (7.2.0 or 7.2.1) when playing .mxf files

I have an iMac (mid-2011) with the 6970M card (officially not supported but capable of OpenCL) and a new MacBook Pro with the GT 650M card (officially blessed by Adobe, which is why I bought the computer).  In 7.2 (either 7.2.0 or 7.2.1) red frames have popped up in seemingly random places when I play .mxf files.  When I rolled back to 7.1 on my iMac, the red frames disappeared.  I have checked this issue on your forum and tried deleting both the cache and the preview files; neither have worked.  Unfortunately for me, my major job for the last half year entails working strictly with .mxf files.
I am wondering if you are planning any fix for this issue, which seems quite major as it is occurring on two different machines with two different video cards.  If it weren't for the fact that the problem continues into exporting, I'd live with it, but the export issue makes it unusable in a professional environment at present.

    Hi Peter,
Thanks for getting back to me!
    the 5k media is 5120 x 2700 and are red r3d files, at a 8:1 redcode compression. Also 5120 x 2560 is the same.
I have a Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4k (1st generation) feeding a sdi signal to a flanders Scientific monitor, and also a Panasonic HDTV via HDMI.
The quality looks the same across the Program monitor, flanders monitor and the HDTV.
i have been editing in 1080p sequences - mainly the red r3d 1080p, but have also used the blackmagic sequnce settings plus many more and am observing the same issue.
As a test i rendered out a short clip at the 5120 x 2700 at full res to prores, imported the prores clip back into premier and resized into a 1080p sequence, playback res set to either 1/4, 1/2 or even full the clip enlages full size in the program monitor to full size but as soon as i pause playback it looks normal. so i dont think its a r3d issue but more a resolution scaling issue on playback. Purley for testing purposes i also tried a 1080p clip in a very low res sequnce at 640 x 360 and obsereved the same issue. 1080p clip in 1280x720 and 1024x576 seemed fine. This issue is a bit different to the above problem of 1/4 res not looking as good as it did but i think the problem is related.
so it seems that either my system has an issue or a strange bug in the update, DaVinci Resolve is working as normal so i can only assume its a bug ??
Thanks for your help with this,
    Tim

  • Video demo glitchy when recording

I am recording a video demo of MS PowerPoint. Each clip is 1-2 minutes at the most. I only have PPT, CP, and Word open while I am doing the demo. As I am clicking around in PPT, my screen will sometimes flicker or another window will suddenly pop up over it. Sometimes the Word window will jump from my second monitor into the frame I'm recording for the demo on the primary monitor. It's just all together glitchy. This shouldn't be a processor/RAM problem. I work on an Alienware with 8G RAM, 64-bit, with Windows 7. Any idea why it would be so glitchy?

Not completely sure, but try disabling video acceleration, Adobe Captivate Help | Choppy full motion recording.
The type of weirdness your experiencing is strange though, especially with an Alienware machine. They're built for gaming so having display problems while recording video is something it should do without any problems.

  • Aperture video missing red channel on playback

Aperture video missing red channel on playback.  Also some pictures appear to have missing pixels.
Video played with Quicktime doesnt have the missing red channel.
When trying to playback video,in aperture, it plays with missing frames, missing pixels and the crashes entire computer. My computer is a Mac Pro desktop with 24 gb memory with 3.33 ghz 6-core processor running Version 10.9.2 and Aperture 3.5.1
    Any suggestions on my problem?
    thanks
    Pat

Never had anything before crash the whole system since OS8 or so.
Back up your system, without deleting older backups - just in case; that looks like a possible system trouble.
Also they some have been in Aperture for a while and they used to be OK.
Do the videos play in QuickTime Player or any other software, if you export or reveal the originals?
Can you play your videos, when signed into another user account?

  • Cover Flow: Can I Change Video Clips' First Frame?

    Hi,
I've got a bunch of video files that I'm viewing in cover flow. However, seeing their first frames doesn't help much in giving me a clue about their contents.
Is it possible to select an middle frame in the video clip and have that be the image that pops up in cover flow? How?
    Thanks,
    Duck

Whenever I get a movie I always play it in QT Pro 7, select a typical frame, copy it and then paste it as the icon for the movie using GetInfo. Cover Flow respects these added icons, and that is what it displays.
If you only have QT X the process is a bit more problematic, since I have not discovered a way to select and copy an individual frame. You can't even do a decent screen shot, since if you pause the movie to take a picture of the movie, the idiotic control bar is inside the movie frame. However, if you pause it, then move the mouse off the control bar and click once inside the frame, the control bar will disappear and you can then do a clean screenshot. Open the screenshot in Preview, select all and copy, then select the movie file in Finder, GetInfo, select the wee little icon at the top and paste. Your movie will now have your custom icon displayed in Cover Flow, Icon view, and so on.
