CA-42 cable drivers and Windows 8 (x64)

Hi,
Are the CA-42 cable drivers compatible with Windows 8 available?
The ones that I have on a CD worked with Windows XP, but I don't think they'll be good for Windows 8.

Mhm. That helps a lot actually.
In the Windows Control Panel » Software, what is the version of your Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver: 7.1.182?
In the Windows Device Manager, was a Modem generated for your Nokia 6610i?
This rules out PC Suite and Nokia Suite, and allows us to concentrate on the USB cable driver. If no modem was listed for your phone, please, attach your Nokia 6610i and have a look at the USB devices. Is there any yellow mark? Context-click on that and refresh its driver. If that does not help: Are you sure, you have an original Nokia CA-42?
I can't see a "Software" category in Control Panel in Windows 8, so I can't check the version of my Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver.
Do you mean "Uninstall or change a program" in Control Panel?
No modem in Device Manager after connecting the phone. Does it need to be created? As far as I remember from Windows XP, no modem was created and the connection was initiated and worked OK.
No USB devices with a yellow mark, either.
The cable is, in fact, DKU-5, but it worked fine with this 6610i on Windows XP.
I read on other forums that you have to install virtual COM port emulation drivers for this cable.
I have the drivers on the original CD that came with the cable, and they were installed on Windows XP (x32) a few years ago and worked OK, but I don't think they will be compatible with Windows 8 (x64). Am I right?
Please note that I don't need a connection with a PC to use internet. I just need to transfer data (mainly text messages) from the phone to a PC

  • My solution for No Audio -- Conexant drivers and Windows 7 x64

    My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
    First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/ About half way down you will find the sub-directory with these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.
    Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
    W764HB=OEM
    W764HP=OEM
    W764PR=OEM
    W764UL=OEM
    ( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
    I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
    SysId3=0x3091
    SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
    SysId4=0x3096
    SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series

    I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
    After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
    I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
    Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then" Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then Conexant, then "Have Disk" . Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.

    I thought that I would recompile my answer and then mark this thread as solved since it was not a post about a problem but rather how I solved a very common problem that might be of benefit to others.

  • Windows 2000 and Nokia Cable Drivers and PC Suite

    Appears Nokia does not support Windows 2k. Even though their web page states the USB Cable CA-101 driver, Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_7_0_2_0_eng.msi, per their line "Nokia Cable Driver for Windows 2000, XP and Vista" on the web page says so. frustrating. Already aware that PC Suite version 7 is not supported in Win2k.
    Is there a driver out there for the USB Cable CA-101 that will connect to the phone running Windows 2000? and allow at least the sd memory card be accessed for data transfer and other functions? thank you.

    Hi exergonico,

  • IPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4 and Windows 7 x64 USB Driver Issues

    Been pulling my hair out with this one for the last week or so and haven't had any luck finding anything on the forums or the web regarding a solution short of a full reinstall of Windows 7 which I am not prepared to do at this time; so hoping someone here can shine some light on this for me
    I have a iPhone 5 that is updated to iOS 6.1.4 and a recently built Windows 7 64-bit machine. All of my other USB devices function fine (keyboard, mouse, Xbox 360 wireless receiver for Windows, and a Seagate 2TB external USB drive). I've downloaded the most recent version of iTunes, installed successfully and then attempt to plug in my phone to sync. I get the standard Windows *ding* that I've attached a device and 1 of 2 things happens (I haven't been able to determine what causes one reaction to happen versus the other): Windows will successfully install the 'Apple USB Mobile Device Driver' successfully and it will appear under my USB devices in Device Manager. However - iTunes will not recognize the phone and I cannot see it in Windows either. In the 'Devices and Printers' snap-in my iPhone will appear under 'Unspecified Devices' as the 'Apple USB Mobile Device'. The iTunes diagnostics fail to find a connected device so the tests fail. As soon as I unplug the device, the strangest thing happens: Windows will start trying to install a device driver and after a few seconds it will fail stating that the "MTP Device Driver" installation failed because the device was unplugged. iTunes also thrown an error "iTunes cannot connect to this iPhone" throwing error code 0XE8000065 (I've also seen error code 0XE8000085 as well)
    After some finagling, I've managed to get Windows to recognize the device under 'Portable Devices' in Device Manager as an "MTP USB Device" using the generic driver. At this point, I've tried updating the driver and manually specifying the Apple USB driver located in the C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Drivers which updates successfully but then changes the device to "Apple USB Mobile Device" and moves it under the USB Devices in Device Manager; and Windows nor iTunes can see it even still.
    I've tried removing iTunes several times and ensuring that all remnants of the installation are gone (registry and folders on the installation drive) and have disconnected all my USB devices short of the keyboard and mouse and still I get the same results. At this point, I'm afraid that a re-install of Windows is going to be the solution; but it's a drastic one (I have a SSD drive where Windows is installed along with all of my games for faster load times/better performance and do not want to have to redownload\reinstall all of them) and I'm not prepared to undertake it at this time, which is why I'm posting here
    I've used a utility called USBDeview that sees my phone is connected - so I know from a functional standpoint that my USB ports are good and working. I also know the cable is good too - my daughter's PC (Windows 7 32-bit with NO iTunes) immediately sees the device when I plug it in, installs the drivers, recognizes it as an iPhone and I can then see/browse it in Windows Explorer like I would normally expect. My work PC (Windows 7 64bit, NO iTunes) sees the device just fine as well. I would immensely appreciate anyone that has seen this issue or has any additional solutions I can try.
    It's also worth mentioning that I've never used Kapersky antivirus so the UPPERFILTERS value in the registry that I've seen as a solution on some forums is not present on my machine. I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus (no flaming please lol - it meets my needs and is extremely lightweight, which is why I'm using it on a gaming rig) and it's not indicating any issues. I've also tried running iTunes as an administrator (even though my account is a local admin on the machine) and that does not have any effect either.
    If there is anything I left out, please let me know; and I thank you in advance!

  • Lenovo X131e doesn't work with Prolific PL2303 based USB to Serial Adapter and Windows 7 x64

    This is sort of a bug report. A Lenovo X131e with Windows 7 x64 and the PL2303 driver including 1.6, 1.61 and 1.7 will not successfully install the driver - Windows always reports "Driver Install Failed" on plug in to USB 3 or USB2 ports. However, putting a USB2.0 hub inbetween the USB to Serial Adapter and either USB port type makes the adapter work fine. This was not the case with the X130e. I'm not sure where to report this beyond this posting, but more of an FYI.

    If the USB can be used for other equipment,
    That may be compatibility issues for USB and Prolific PL2303.
    Don't plug Serial Adapter when installing the driver,
    Ofter installation, Connect serial adapter to see whether it is working normally.

    Hello, I my ID is durestudios from the Mozilla Firefox Chat Contributors group. Your following problem may be solved, but I will have to try to fix the problem in many ways. I'm sorry if that can bug you.
    My best recommendation is to chat (It's free to use, and you don't have to download anything. All you need to do is go to:

    and chat *WHEN CONTRIBUTORS ARE ONLINE*. There is a time schedule on this at the side of the page.
    First: Try deleting your cookies and cache. This can be done by clicking the Tools tab of the top of your Mozilla Firefox page, then clicking 'Clear Recent History' on the box that appears, under 'Start Private Browsing'. Then a box will appear. On the top of that box, it says 'Time range to clear' and next to it has a view of options. click on that view of options (It's a box) and 5 options will appear. Click on 'Everything'. After that, on the bottom of the 'Clear Recent History' box, there is a button next to the word 'Details'. If there is a white box under the word 'Details' don't click on the button next to the word 'Details'. If there is no white box under the words 'Details', click on the box next to 'Details'. Now, un-check everything (click on the small box next to the words in the small box, if you click that small box a small check appears. When the check appears, it will be 'checked', and if there is no check in the box it will be 'UN-checked'.) except 'cookies' and 'cache'. For 'cookies' and 'cache' check them. Now press 'Clear Now'.

  • CS3 dds drivers and Windows 7 64bit issue

    I have photoshop CS3 working however I can't load the dds drivers. I've tried everything see below. Anyone been able to load the Nvidia dds drivers?
    What is the proper proceedure to effectively install the DDS files in CS3 in a windows 7 64 bit environment?
    I tried the 32 bit and 64 bit files and when I use the 32 bit file i get an error opening up photoshop that says missing D3x9_43.dll, and I don't have the option to save in a .dds format. If I uninstall the dds 32 bit program the missing D3x9_43.dll error goes away.
    When I load 64 bit version no errors but I still don't have the option to save in .dds format. Kind of frustrating..................
    I've just uninstalled and cleaned CS3. I've done a new fresh load of CS3. What are the correct steps from here?
    Which file should I download? etc.
    Thank you in advance.
    Ok, I've tried everything I can find.
    I let the 32 bit dds program load to a seperate folder and manually transfered the files to the proper folders in Photoshop and still get the same results as above. I tried renaming them and removing the 32 extensions and still no go. I did the same thing with the 64 bit program and still no go.
    The 32 bit program said it was still looking for the D3X9_43.dll file for some reason. I haven't tried downloading that file since I don't know where to put it.
    Can someone please help me. Has anyone got the DDS files to work with CS3 and Windows 7?
    Thank you
    Bill

    Got it fixed. I loaded the drivers from my old XP machine. drivers are from 2007. Don't remember where I got them from but they worked.  I can save dds files again.
    Thank you for the reply.

    If I understand correctly, you want to use SQL Server Authentication log to SQL Server Integration Services.
    Based on my research, only Microsoft Windows Authentication is available for SSIS. So we cannot use SQL Server Authentication log to SQL Server Integration Services. Besides, we can only add OS users in the DCOM Config permission area.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b56er and Windows 7 x64 Professional

    Hello.
    I've purchased Pavilion dv6-6b56er with pre-installed Win7 x64 Basic, which is not convenient for me, because of it's lack in functionality. So I've made a full backup of pavilion's hard drives and deleted all software from it. Then I've installed Win 7 x64 Pro and confronted with some difficulties regarding drivers for USB 3.0. Everything else is working fine. I know, that HP do not responsible for any experiments with non-pre-installed software, but still I have some questions.
    First of all, which driver I should install for pavilion's USB 3.0 ports? At downloads page I've found three different options:
    1. Renesas.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-99763-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    2. NEC.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100224-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    3. Fresco.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-102204-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    and
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100237-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    The first two have been installed (I mean they CAN be installed), the third one - doesn't install at all. So what's the reason of putting it on download page?
    The more the merrier. When you try to install package with NEC driver, installation master tells you, that it's Renesas driver. So there is no NEC driver on the download page at all. Why I've payed so much attention to it? I've installed Everest, so I can find out what driver is needed. It tells me that I have "NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller". So, there is no available driver on download page for NEC chipset and we have NEC chipset inside.
    Meanwhile Windows' Support center offered some NEC driver for USB 3.0 (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47677.exe ).
    So, who is right?
    The second question. If try to connect to USB 3.0 port some compound device (usb hub for example), then in "devices and printers" appear strange devices with label "No data". If Renesas driver has been installed then "USB 2.0 hub" appeared, and if Windows' proposed NEC - then "NEC Electronics USB Hub". The count of strange devices depend on number of devices connected to this compound device. This is my main problem - these strange devices.
    So I came to the deadlock. Any ideas to solve this problem?
    Any replies will be much appreciated.
    PS. Sorry for my bad English.
    This question was solved.

  • DFS and Windows 7 x64 strange behavior when trying to access a DFS link through mapped drive

    I've manually mapped a network drive (Q Drive) to a DFS location. Whenever I go into "My Computer" and open the Q Drive it shows the DFS links but when I double click one of the links it randomly takes me back to the "My Computer" starting point showing my standard drive letters. If I click through the Q drive and the DFS several time it all of the sudden works. Sometimes this circle of clicking can go on for 5-10 times before it works properly.
    I'm running the x64 edition of Windows 7.  Any suggestions on how to make this work properly? Its very annoying.

    GPO mapped namespace where you can't connect through the mapped drive letter but can connect through the DFS UNC namespace? Do you use access based enumeration?
    I personally think it has something to do with network bandwidth, the security token and offline files. =)
    You can access the namespace itself but not any of the linked shares (try checking the ACL:s on the shares and you get permission denied, but you still see them, ie they are listed).
    I found a post sometime ago about corrupted/trunkated security tokens. If the member was part of too many AD groups the token was trunkated and corrupted. That was going to be my next move. Sniff the traffic and see what actually happens when the issue occur
    if theres something to be learnt there. Since it works correctly through the UNC adress but not through the drive letter you ough to be able to see what is different between the two requests.

    One thing I noted was that it only happened to remotely connected computers on slow 3G connections (we use Direct Access). Never on LAN-connected computers with GB access or remote computers with fast (>15Mbps) access. We also use folder redirection,
    which I think could be part of the problem, ie the share never goes online, atleast for us the issue was itermittent, it never happend all of the time, just from time to time. And if I disconnected and reconnected it could fix the issue for that particular
    sessions, usually it didn't but occasionally it did (just pulling the network cable and put it back). Check the offline/online status the folders show up as offline even though they are online.
    Enough of my ramblings. Sorry to hear you still have the problem and I hope you find a way to solve it.
