.cab files keep corrupting in Windows XP
Hi all,
I'm 3 days into trying to install CS3 onto an Xp system so, if you can help me resolve this, you're a genius in my book. :-) I keep getting .cab file corruption errors. I think I've tried just about every trick I could find here in the forums (e.g., copying the disc's contents first to the hard drive, creating a new user account, using CS3 clean script and MS uninstall script, updating MS Installer, and all that jazz).
I eventually tried installing it on a different PC (Vista) and it installed fine there. I confirmed with 7-Zip's "Test Archive" feature on that system that the cab files on the disc were indeed fine and then copied all the setup files onto a flashdrive and brought that over to the Xp system. Strangely, no luck...it seems the .cab files get corrupted even on the flashdrive once they are added to the Xp system. About the only I haven't tried is updating to Xp SP3 (which I'm hesitant to do as I don't want to risk messing up my other programs that work fine with SP2, especially when I don't even know it will fix it). I read where one guy with a home network installed it using the CD-ROM from one system to install it onto the other system that he was having the install trouble with. He seemed to believe the problem was a combo hardware/software issue. I'm thinking of trying this but will need to get it setup. Do both PCs need to be running the same version of Windows? Any other possible fixes?

What Flash drives have you tried? Could well be that someting goes wrong when the files get written to them. Still, since it seems you started out with the original discs on the system, that doesn't seem to be the problem. More likely some security tool is scanning the files and damaging or Windows' own DEP has for some reason been set for cabinet files. So I'd definitely look into that. the version of Windows shouldn't matter. CS3 was developed at the high times of XP, so it primarily was made for that andjust the otehr way around, Vista compatibility is the bare minimum required.

Trying to install iTunes on windows 7 64 bit
The error keeps coming. Tried uninstalling all previous apple software.I found htis other post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3401328?start=0&tstart=0
I also found this in another post
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.) -
CS2-installing error "data1.cab" file corrupt
I have recently reformatted my C drive and reinstalling programs.
I tried to reinstall my CS2 Photoshop, but received error message that the "data1.cab" file was corrupt or missing. Could not install program.
I don't know how to fix. Could someone please help?
Thanks,
mmspryfrom a disc? try to copy the photoshop folder from the disc to the desktop, then run setup from there. however, you might have a bad drive or a bad disc. if the setup from the desktop fails, try installing on another machine. if it still fails, the disc probably has a problem. if that works, maybe your drive needs replacing.

Acrobat Standard 8 CAB File corrupted.
I tried to install Acrobat Standard 8 but, I received a message that the cab file is corrupted. Can anymore provide the site where I can get a copy of the CAB file.
ThanksIf you purchased Acrobat on disk, that would be the place to look. You can call Customer Service to see if you can get a replacement disk. If you downloaded the original from the Adobe store, again Customer Service would be your only option.

How to install MSFT application security updates in cab file format using DISM
Hi,
I tried to install security updates for MS Office which are cab files like any other windows security updates cab file. It is giving an error called "file not found". But other windows security updates cab files are installing fine without any error.
I tried to install these updates manually using DISM on commandline. It is not installing. I even tried using pkgmgr.exe, but that is not working either. I looked at DISM logs which is saying it failed opening the cab file. I tried different other commandline
options of DISM to install this, but nothing else is suitable for a cab file install.
Does anyone know how to install a cab file for application security updates via DISM.exe or other MSFT commandline tools?
Thanks,
ANSA

Still unable to download itunes to my pc. Tried with IE, Mozilla and Google Chrome. Keep getting an error message :"Windows cannot open itunes.exe the file is corrupt contact support."previous itunes files were wipped out by "disk cleaner." Any help??
Please!
Thanks! If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem. -
After downloading and telling program to run it will not open the firefox install utility keeps saying file is corrupt. I had a computer crash and having to reinstall all of my programs. I have a 2.? Gh dual core processor running windows 7 64bit, which I had before, with 4 megs ram and a 320 gb hard drive so I know I have the system requirements.

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing
Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder. -

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I work for HP -
Hello,
I hope I have placed this in the correct forums here on TechNet. I have a corrupt CAB file and am looking on ways to correct it. We use WINRAR to open CAB files. When I attempt to open it via WINRAR I am being told "The archive is either in unknown
format or damaged." I have multiple CAB files generating this error, but not all of them.
Does Microsoft have a tool, or does anyone have any experience on the best way to repair these CAB files? These CAB files contain archived emails we are using with our Enterprise Vault system.
Thanks for any assistance! What software creates the CAB files? (rhetorical) I'd contact their support for solutions.

I am unable to install jdk1.5.0.07/jdk1.5.0.11and while Copying files this error is generated.
"Data1.cab file is missing or corrupt.". I have tried to download the same from Sun's download centre as offline installation.
Please suggest a solution.
Regards,
Neha ShrivastavaI have tried downloading it again and also used the installer which was successfully able to install on Windows XP.
Also, a few days back I was able to install jdk1.5.0.07 but then my system was attacked by some trojan and I had to format it. Since then I am unable to install it using the same exe. -
I want to have firefox as my default browser. As this is a new laptop, I hasve to download firefox. As per the instructions, I click on "run" to complete the download, but instead of completing the download, a window appears which says that the author is unknown. If I ignore the window and click on run, I get another window which says the file is corrupt and I can't finish the download and have firefox as my browser.
I have windows 7 and explorer is the default browser and I want to change to firefox, but so far am being prevented from doing so. How can I successfully download firefox? It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Windows says the itunes download file is corrupt and will not install
Im trying to install itunes on my new windows 8 pc. It seems to recognize my software and takes me to a download the 64 bit file (iTunes64Setup.exe). Once the download completes, the file appears in my windows download manager with the message "The signature of this program is corrupt or invalid". If I right click and chose install anyway, I get a message saying that Windows prevented this from running.
I then found the 32bit download file (iTunesSetup.exe). I get the same results as above. Any ideas how to fix this?I get that all the time with all sorts of programmes. I normally shut down my pc, unplug it, wait for the light to go out on the back, plug back in reboot and it works (with most of my downloads) try this, it might fix it, it might not. I tried this the other day after it kept telling me it was corrupt, then it came down and installed fine. I do this now with every update of every program, if I forget they will all say they have an 'invalid signature' or 'corrupt from source file' etc. Hope this helps you. Also I have to do this before I download music as well, because otherwise it seems to come down with the stupid DRM still on the file, meaning I can't put it on my ipod, convert it or even play it on my system.

Hi All,
I am getting intermittent problem with regards to copying files to usb external hard drive from my laptop.
When file is copied to external drive, the file becomes corrupt from the external drive.

Appreciate of any help.

This problem is annoying me for years. It is totally reproducible although random. It happens when copying to external drives (mainly USB) when they are configured for "safe removal". I have had issues copying to NTFS and FAT32 partitions. I have
had issues using 4 different computers, from 7 years old to brand new ones, using AMD or intel chipsets and totally different USB controllers, and using many different USB sticks, hard disks, etc. The only common thing in those computers is Windows 7 x64 and
the external drives optimization for "safe removal". Installing Teracopy reduces the chances of data corrpution, but does not eliminate them completely. The only real workaround (tested for 2 years) is activating the write cache in the device manager
properties of the drive. In that way, windows uses the same transfer mechanisms as for the internal drives, and everything is OK.
MICROSOFT guys, there is a BIG BUG in windows 7 x64 external drives data transfer mechanism. There is a bug in the cache handling mechanism of the safe removal function. Nobody hears, I've been years talking about this in forums. It is a very dangerous bug
because it is silent, and many non professional people is experiencing random errors in their backup data. PLEASE, INVESTIGATE THIS. YOU NEED TO FIX SUCH IMPORTANT BUG. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT IT IS STILL THERE SINCE 2009!!!
Hope this helps. -
i need to update and set default bookmarks show always when install firefox
when update omni.ja file i do this steps :
Steps to change “Bookmarks.html” file in “omni.ja”:
- Copy “omni.ja” file and change the prefix of the file to “zip” so that you can extract it using WinRAR program, then extract the file.
- Make the changes you want to the extracted files.
- Open the original “omni.ja” file using WinRAR program.
- Using “Add” button to replace the modified files.
the first step when extart the file it's give me that file is corrupted only for this version (firefox 17.0.2 windows EN-US)There is no need to edit files in the omni.ja! archives to achieve this.
