Cabinets getting installed but checker says no pla...

Hi,
Some FTTC cabinets were installed around our estate at the beginning of last week, including one next to the cabinet i'm connected to (about 200m from my house).
I spoke to a BT Openreach engineer working at one of them yesterday and he said that one should be ready to go live after he left that day.
However, both the BT Infinity and BT Openreach checkers show no availability of FTTC and the Infinity checker actually says:
BT Infinity is not currently due to be rolled out in your area within the next 6 months. Register your interest and we will keep you up to date about the BT Infinity rollout.
@infinityfibre on Twitter who are a BT partner and claim to have access to Openreach systems also say there are no plans to roll out in our area - which is clearly wrong as they are installing the cabinets and BT Openreach engineers working on it.
As far as I see it at the moment, it looks like the cabinets will be live and ready in the next few weeks but no one will be able to orders because the system says no.
The PCP to Postcode report that's posted here somewhere says this for my postcode:
Percent Lines: 100
Uplift: 13.8
Phase: 6a
It's not just me though - others on the estate are saying the same thing, so it seems to be an estate-wide problem. It seems that the whole roll-out in the estate has been missed from the data.
Anyone else experienced anything similar?
Thanks,
Ian

Hi,
Thanks - the cabinet went in at the start of last week - there is a trench filled in across to a manhole cover at the other side of the pavement so I guess that's the fibre coming across and it won't have power yet but BT were out at one yesterday so maybe they are doing it in a different order and getting their stuff in before the power goes in.
So you would expect that once it's been commissioned that it will just appear in the checker as available a few weeks later even though it currently shows no plans?
PS: By "It was then about 2/3 weeks before it went live" did you mean you were able to order it? (presumably if the guy with the laptop comissioned it, the cabinet was live then, but it took a few weeks for the message to get through and the online checkers to be updated?)?
Which ISP are you with? - was 2/3 weeks for it to show in both the Openreach and the BT Infinity checker?
Thanks,
Ian
Hi Ian.
They might be getting a batch of cabinets ready.
I still have overhead electric from the poles , so they dug a trench from the pole to the fibre cabinet to get the electrical supply.
As regards the question would it appear on the checker, go back to what I said 2 Alot of people have problems with the checker".
Went Live was when it was available to order, not when they switched on the power. Some people say they can hear the cabinet humming for weeks before it goes live.
BT.

I have authorized this new computer so I don't know what the problem is. I can't get on my old computer with my itunes account because the computer is broken. Not sure what to do

"I have logged in to my itunes account on a different computer and none of my purchased music is showing up."
Correct.  it does not magially appear in other places.  It will only be where you put it.
"I also have plugged my iphone in to get updates but it says I will lose all media and apps if I don't update on the computer where  I sync everything. "
Correct as well.  Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

  • I have flash player version 12.0.0.70 installed but youtube says it is not current

I have adobe flash player 12.0.0.70 installed on my mac but youtube says it is not current

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 6. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 3
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Open this folder as in Step 3:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 5
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 6
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 7
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    Step 8
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • I have Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium (Teacher and Student Edition.  I've purchased the upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS6 - Trying to install, but it says my serial number is invalid?

I have Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium (Teacher and Student Edition).  I've purchased the upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS6 - Trying to install, and it says the Adobe CS6 is valid - but only provides 'photoshop' options for entering my old serial number, rather than the adobe creative suite. How do I move past this so I can download it on my computer.  I don't want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 6 - as I do not need all the programs, just photoshop.  From looking online, I read forums that said this was possible.  Please advise

I don't want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 6 - as I do not need all the programs, just photoshop.
Unfortunately that option is not possible.
You cannot upgrade a Creative Suite to a standalone product.
Creative Suites can only be upgrades to other Creative Suites.
You'll need to return Photoshop CS6 upgrade since you cannot use it.
Return, cancel, or exchange an Adobe order
    Some options:
Buy a Creative Suite upgrade, or
Buy a full new copy of Photoshop CS6, or
    Join the Cloud

  • Adobe is installed but websites say it is not

I have a Mac OS X and use Safari browser. Adobe flash player says it is installed, yet I still cannot watch movies. Any site that I go on to watch movies detects that flsh player is not installed, but when I go to the adobe website it says that the latest version 10.3 for my Mac is installed. I am not tech savy, been troubleshooting on my own to no avail. Someone please help

Can you give me an example URL that is failing?  Some sites do require versions of Flash higher than 10.3.

  • LR 6 did not install but CC says it is up to date.

Opened Adobe CC last night. Updates to PS CC were available and installed without issues.
LR was not listed as installed but was available. I have the Photographers package with PS CC and LR on my computer and pay monthly.
I found LR 2015 listed as available for install and clicked on that. It took awhile but completed without errors.
When I restarted LR, I'm still at version 5.7.
This morning I clicked on Start and noticed LR 2015 listed as a program on my computer. I clicked on this but nothing happened. That listing is now gone.
How can I get LR 2015 installed properly?

I was unable to successfully install Lr 6 through the CC PC desktop application.
Here is what I did on my first attempt at installing Lr 6:
After installation of Lightroom 6 through the Creative Cloud PC Desktop app the new installation of Lr 6 does not work.
Nothing happens when I click the application icon after installation.
System: PC running the most current version of Win 8.1 Pro 64bit
    Processor/Memory: Intel Core i7-3820 3.60 GHz/16 gb
What I did to try and resolve the issue:
After installation of Lr 6 I noticed that Lr 5.7 was still installed.
I closed out all applications and uninstalled Lr 5.7 and the new installation of Lr 6.
I reinstalled Lr 6 through the CC desktop application and rebooted the PC.
Still nothing happens when I click on the Lr 6 desktop icon application.
I'm desperate to get this application working again. I have jobs to process ASAP. Any help from the community is most appreciated. Adobe won't answer my calls or chats at the moment.

  • Pages tells me I need to upgrade to 5.0 to open documents from iCloud.  When I go to the mac app store it says pages 5.0 is installed, but Pages says it's running 4.3.  I just want to open documents on my mac that were created on my iPad.

Pages tells me I need to upgrade to 5.0 to open documents from iCloud, but the mac app store says its already installed and won't let me upgrade.  when I check the version of pages I am running it says 4.3.  I just want to be able to open documents on my mac that were created on my iPad.  How can i get Pages 5.0?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You already have got Pages 5.0, but you still have got Pages 4.3, so Pages 4.3 is being opened instead of the newest version, being this the reason why you get a message telling you to update Pages to the most recent version.
If you don't need the old version, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete the old Pages icon or move it to an external drive. I don't recommend you to do this, as users are complaining about the lack of features of the new version.
Instead, what you can do is to put the new Pages icon in the Dock by dragging it from the Finder window to the Dock, so you can open the new Pages version from the Dock and you can open all your documents with it after opening the application

  • Can't get online, but airport says I'm connected?

    Hi,
I bought a Netgear wireless router, and after talking on the phone for over an hour with support, I got everything working. I have a Mac Mini, and my boyfriend has a new iMac, in the same room, that is also hooked up wirelessly to the same router.
Everything was working perfectly for a couple of days, until this morning. I checked the settings, and the IP address changed back to a 165.xxx. something, which was different than the 192.xxx that the technician told me it should be. I called Netgear support again, and they wouldn't help me, stating it was a problem with the Mac.
The iMac is working great, it's just my Mini that isn't connecting. Airport says it's connected. When I try to login to Firefox or Safari, I get a "page load error." Please forgive my inexperience and lack of knowledge with computers, but it seems to me I just need to put the IP address back? I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks in advance for any help!

There are several steps to a successful Internet connection via AirPort:
    1) Your machine must associate with the wireless network
    2) Your machine must either obtain an IP address via DHCP or you must set one manually
    3) Your machine must obtain routing information to know which gateway will route traffic off your local network or you must set it manually
    4) Your machine must obtain the address of a DNS server or you must set one manually
In your case, the presence of the alternate IP address indicates your Mini is not obtaining an IP address via DHCP, which sounds as if your DHCP server is only providing one address (to the iMac) or is not providing an address to your Mini.
What kind of Internet access do you have - DSL or cable? Do you know if your Linksys is set up in bridge mode or NAT mode? Have you tried simply power cycling your Linksys?

  • Shockwave installed but verifier says it's not

  • Firefox doesn't actually install but will say it is.

I try to download and install Firefox but it won't actually install. It will have the same "installing" window for days. What's going on?

Hello Siearra, go for a clean re-install, this means you remove Firefox program files (check if exist from your previous "semi-install") and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox (with another browser) from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ this page]) and save the setup file to your computer.
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default in Windows:
    * C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    * C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].

  • ITunes crashes when trying to access the iTunes Store -- Quick Time is installed but diagnostic says "QuickTime not available"

I'm getting a Windows error and iTunes crashes any time I try to access the iTunes store.  I'm not sure if this may be related, but when I run a connectivity diagnostic, system info shows:
Microsoft Windows 7 x64 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
    Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. EX58-UD3R
    iTunes 10.5.0.142
    QuickTime not available
I have QuckTime 7.7.1 (1680.42) installed and it works without trouble.  Is the fact that iTunes doesn't recognize my install possibly related to the crashes?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both programs a couple times.

Well, as far as I can see, no one has responded to this question. Nor do I see any solutions mentioned in other questions by folks having the same problem. So I can only assume that there IS no fix.
Oh well, I know that one user is just "small potatoes" as far as the iTunes Store is concerned, but they've just lost this frequent little revenue stream - their loss, Amazon's gain.
Good-bye iTunes store - it was fun while it lasted...

  • Player 11, Player ActiveX, SW 11.6 installed but webpages say not??

I am using and ACER ASPIRE ONE. XP Home/Student. I just did a full recovery. Because of that the system is running swimmingly and I have not added a lot of programs yet. Java is installed. Service Pack 3. I am sure the old config had up to date Adobe.
I now have, as reported by REVO UNINSTALLER ( just a 3rd party Add/Remove Programs thing)
    ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 11 PLUGIN
    ADOBE FLASH PLAYER ACTIVEX
    ADOBE SHOCKWAVE PLAYER 11.6     installed.
A page, for instance, a broadband test page says I need to upgrade to see their graphics disply. I do, and it appears according to Revo that I have them.
MANAGE ADD-ONS ( IE8) reports Adobe Shockwave Flash Object Ver. 9.0.124.0 is there and enabled and that's it as far as Adobe programs. I'm not sure why it has not been replaced by the newer versions that Revo says is present and installed.
Other than that I have downloaded the file from several sources with slightly different names but still the same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Jack

    Download the following files:
    Windows 32-bit: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash _player_32bit.exe
Windows 32-bit Flash Player for Internet Explorer
Exit the browser and disconnect from the internet.
    Run the uninstaller and reboot.
Delete the Flash folder in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed
    Run the installer.
The Flash Player plugin is not needed for Internet Explorer.

  • I have Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) installed, but Installer says it can't determine the version.

    Hi, this is weird.
I am trying to install a number of applications on to my MacBook Pro running 10.7.3.
The weird thing is packages that use the installer are telling me that I don't have a new enough OS to run their software. I can't even install Safari 5.1.4.
Anyways, when I look in the Installer's logs, I see six of the following errors:
Mar 26 01:05:28 MacBookPro Installer[17323]: IFJS: *** exception: TypeError: 'null' is not an object (evaluating 'my.target.systemVersion')
So it looks like to me that my OS is having difficulty figuring out what OS it is running.
I go to About this Mac under the Apple menu and it says 10.7.3, build 11D50b.
Any ideas on how to fix this, or what I might have done to cause this?
Could it be problems with the "b" build?
    Cheers, Andrew.

Back up all data, then boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
