Cable Adapter Question

Hey everyone,
Sorry for posting again, something is up with my thread and i cant reply in it. So I am reposting and adding this picture. This is the cable for the monitor that I want to hook up to my iMac. The model number once again is Gateway FPD 1500. The last guy in the other thread said I should get mini-DVI to DVI. Just check with you all to see if this is right. I like double checking. Thanks for all the help everyone, much appreciated.

Wow. That's a 20-pin DFP (Digital Flat Panel) connector. It was an early comptetitor to the DVI Connector, but lost out. It wasn't in use very long and only a handful of graphics cards support it.
Fortunately, you CAN get it to work by combining 2 different adapters. This one adapts DFP to DVI: http://www.computercablesource.com/detail.aspx?ID=69
Then use the mini-DVI to DVI adapter from Apple.

  • NX6600GT-AGP VIVO cable/adapter question...

I just bought one of these on eBay. Unfortunately it did not come with the VIVO cable/adapter for the card. I was planning on using the card in a HTPC I'm in the process of building, NOT using the Video-In feature as I already have a Hauppauge PVR-150 capture card, but I WAS planning on using the Video-Out (s-video) to output to my SDTV.  It appears that this card has a 10-pin VIVO connector.  I have a couple of VIVO cables/adapters from older generation Nvidia VIVO cards (one is from a 5900XT the other from a 4200Ti), but both have 9-pin connectors.  The 9-pin cable/adapters seem to plug in OK, the pins line up obviously one of the pins does not get connected, so I was wondering whether or not they will work properly in the 6600GT?  Does MSI offer these for sale separately?  If these two are not options does anybody have the pin-out schematic for the connector?
    Thanks!

well you have to connnect it,a drive connector on the psu is fine

What cable/adapter do I need to connect my MacBook Pro to a Sharp Aquos TV?
I want to watch videos on youtube or read articles on my laptop, and I want a cable/adapter that will hook up the Macbook to the TV and display the webpage that is on the laptop.

Of course it doesn't. But you can buy an adaptor from HDMI to the Mini-DisplayPort port on the computer.

  • USB to Parallel Cable Adapter not working with New PC and Windows 8.1

With the demise of parallel ports on PCs, I purchased a USB to Parallel cable adapter several years ago.  I used this combination to successfully connect my Apple Laserwriter 16/600PS printer to my HP Pavilion Slimline s7600n PC (running Windows XP, SP3).  I've decided to upgrade, I now have an HP Slimline s5-1020 PC running Windows 8.1.  However, I cannot get the printer to printer properly.  When the print command is executed, the printer spits out page after page of 1-line jibberish at the top of the page.  This continues forever until either the paper runs out or I abort the document by opening the paper drawer.  Only after full shutdown of both printer and computer and reboot of both will the printer clear itself of the corrupted print instruction.
The printer is also connected to an Apple MacIntosh 7200/120 computer via AppleTalk and it prints fine.  Also, I reconnected the printer to my old Slimline s7600n computer and it prints perfectly.  I have to assume that either new PC or OS is the source of the problem.
Any and all help/suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You have to go to the maufacturer site to check is there any Windows 8.1 driver for it. I know many cable/adapter vendors stopped to develope from Windows 7.

  • HDMI cable/adapter causing feedback interference in studio monitors

Hi I just bought an HDMI cable/adapter to connect my MacBook Pro to my LCD tv and as soon as I connect my studio monitors through my MBox interface, I got really loud CPU feedback through my monitors. Any suggestions? really trying to have a nice studio set up here lol

Thanks for trying to help me out, rsannie.  I had actually figured it out earlier, didn't get a chance to post.  Under Sound, click Recording tab, click the device, click Properties, click Advanced tab, uncheck Enable audio enhancements.  This was what was causing the interference/feedback type noise.
Just for the heck of it, to get better acquainted with the settings, I went to where you suggested but could not toggle that feature on/off.  This feature looks like it deals with the external mic (the ones by the webcam) and not from a source fed through the minijack anyway.

  • Cable/adapter for external hard drive

    Hello,
I was wondering whether or not a cable/adapter such as this would work for connecting an external 2.5 inch hard drive to my ibook.
    Thanks

I see however, that most of them say that they draw power directly from the USB, is this possible?? The reason I am trying to go so cheaply is that i'll only be using it once, to clone my hard drive to a new one which will then go into my ibook.
    Thanks for any replies!

  • IPod Shuffle Sports Case Cable Adapter??????

Does anyone know where I can get an iPod Shuffle Sports Case Cable Adapter?
I purchased a Sports Case but it did not come with an adapter. I talked with Apple Support for an hour one day and they said they never heard of such a thing. I told them that it is on the Apple Forum and they still said it does not exist.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful!!

The adapter is to use non Apple headphones with the case.
The hole in the case is made to fit the Apple headphones, which have a very small covering over the plug.

  • Cable adapter 183139-02

Does anyone have a pinout diagram for the 68F-50M DIO cable adapter 183139-02? Trying to use a PCI-DIO-32HS card (68 pins connector) to interface with hardware designed to interface with a AT-DIO-32F card (50 pins connector). I believe that cable adapter 183139-02 is the correct part. However, I would like to see a pinout diagram to verify the configuration but could not find anything on the NI website.

I have attached the pinout for you. Have a great day!

  • Cable adapter

what cable adapter do i need to connect G3 to a current cinema display?

What video card do you have have in your G3? You need one with either an ADC or a DVI output to use the current Cinema Displays unless you're willing to purchase a pricey VGA to DVI converter. The new Cinema Display will only work with the new MacBooks that have Mini-DisplayPort, so you can't use that one with your G3 at all.

  • Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual Cable/Adapter for mid-2010 iMac?

    Hi . . .
Sorry to pester with a question that's been covered from various angles before, but I'm new to the Mac world. Am a musician in BC, Canada doing a project remotely with people in Ontario. Decided to ditch my PC-based recording rig and went with a 2010 iMac and Logic Pro X (hallelujah!) because the other people are using Logic Pro X. So . . . I'm just learning the ropes.
Anyway . . . I have a spare monitor I want to run in dual setup extended desktop, and I'm not 100% certain of the cable and/or adapter I'll need. I'm also not sure why the adapters are bigger and seem to contain more internal components, whereas the cables just look like a simple "Plug 1" connected to "Plug 2" cable in a variety of lengths (in the same way you'd have a XLR to 1/4" phono cable).
Here's the info on my system, and any help would be greatly appreciated (will a cable suffice or do I need an separate adapter, DVI type, etc).
My iMac (mid-2010 21" Core i3 with Firewire running Moutain Lion 10.8.5):
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i3-3.06-21-inch-alumi num-mid-2010-specs.html
My monitor I want use as an extended desktop (Acer 22" X223W LCD):
    http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/acer-x223w-lcd-monitor/4507-3174_7-32627876 .html
So, it appears I'll need a male Mini DisplayPort to a male DVI-D Dual adapter and/or cable. Do I need to specifically buy a DVI-D Dual cable? Will a simple cable function properly or do I also need an adapter? I'm pretty sure a DVI-I cable won't work because it would have extra pins that aren't present in the DVI-D.
Thanks again . . . the assistance is appreciated.
    Suds . . .

    You are overthinking this.
"DVI dual link support" is concerned about the resolution of the display, not the number of displays.   A dual-link adapter or cable basically has double the number of wires to carry extra data to support higher resolutions than a single-link cable.  Of course, both the computer and the external display must also support the higher resolutions in order to take advantage of the capabilities of dual-link.
You want to use two displays ... your iMac's buit-in display + your Acer display as a second monitor (what you called "dual monitors").  You can do this, as I explained earlier.
Your Acer monitor's maxiumum resolution of 1680 x 1050 is not high enough to require a dual-link connection.
"In single-link mode, the maximum pixel clock frequency is 165 MHz that supports a maximum resolution of 2.75 megapixels (including blanking interval) at 60 Hz refresh. For practical purposes, this allows a maximum 16:9 screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz (1915 × 1436 at a 4:3 ratio).
To support higher-resolution display devices, the DVI specification contains a provision for dual link. Dual-link DVI doubles the number of TMDS pairs, effectively doubling the video bandwidth. As a result, higher resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 are supported at 60 Hz [via dual-link DVI]."   (See Digital Visual Interface, Wikipedia)
You can connect almost any VGA, DVI or HDMI display to your iMac, using the appropriate cable and/or adapter.  Of course, you always have to make sure that your cable has the correct gender plug on each end.   The Apple adapter I recommended has a female connector, so you will need a cable with a male DVI-D plug on one end.  As for the other end of the cable, check the input on your Acer display to see what it has and select a cable that has an appropriate gender connector on the end that will plug into your Acer monitor.
In extended desktop mode, you can set separate (independent) resolutions for your iMac display and your external Acer display, taking advantage of the maximum resolution of each.   (For example, that's why the MacBookPro example you cited works, it's because that model MacBook Pro can support higher resolutions on an external display than it's built-in LCD panel can.)

  • Apple video cable technical question

I can not seem to find the answer to this question anywhere... I have the Apple component AV cable and the Composite video AV cable. I have measured the resistance of all the pins and compared to the posted pinout web sites.
I am confused about the pin 21 details (not sure if this has been updated)
I measure 500k pin 21 to ground for both cables
the composite video line comes from pin 8, the component connectors go to 8, 9 and 10.
My question should be clear by now, If the resistance on pin 21 (which should define what accessory is connected) how does the iPhone (and iPad) know which type of video to output ???
I am an engineer and this is driving me nuts, maybe i am missing something..
thx in advance for any details.

    Hello,
I've also tried to watch my video's on my iPod Video 5th generation on television, but it won't work. I can't see anything. On the iPod I've made the correct settings. I've used Apple's audio-video cable for an iBook and put it on a scart adapter and connected it to my television, because my television doesn't have AV output. It won't work. Any suggestions anybody?

  • Apple Thunderbolt Adapter Questions

I just bought a new iMac.
I still use FireWire peripherals, including a tape-based HDV camcorder.
I just bought two of Apple's Thunderbolt-to-FireWire Adapters. These adapters serve as "patch cables" to convert Thunderbolt to FireWire 800.
I have a couple of questions about the Thunderbolt interface.
1: If I want to connect other Thunderbolt peripherals (such as a Thunderbolt display, or Thunderbolt hard drives) down the road, both of my Thunderbolt ports on the iMac will be occupied . What choices do I have for Thunderbolt splitters/hubs?
2: Regarding the Thunderbolt-to-FireWire adapter: what other cable/patch/adaptor do I need to connect this adaptor to a DV or HDV camcorder?

1: Buy Thunderbolt devices with two Thunderbolt connections so they can be daisy-chained and leave a free Thunderbolt port for the FireWire adapter.  Also the Appl Thunderbolt display includes a FireWire 800 port, so doesn't need a FireWire adapter.
2: DV cameras usually use 4-pin FireWire, so you will need to adapter from 9-pin (FireWire 800), such as:

  • Digital Adapter questions?

I am thinking about switching to FiOS. My problem is that with cable you can run it to different TV's by splitting to other TV's. You only get basic cable. My question is that if i get FiOS can i split like i did with cable OR do i have to get a digital adapter and split from that? Thank you all that reply

keep in mind (from what I have read), that Comcast will soon no longer allow you to view their channels without a box of some kind.
I was unaware that verizon is offering free digital adapters now.  however, from my experience with them, they are awful.  very slow to react, quality is poor, and you cannot even view the channel number.  if you plan on using the tvs with the digital adapters more than once a week, then I would highly recommend going with their standard digital box instead.
also, consider this as well, if your tvs have a a QAM tuner, then you will be able to get the local channels without a box/adapter.
You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there. --Yogi Berra
