Cable Advice for connection to HDTV

I am waiting for delivery of a Pioneer LX5090 and a new MBP but I am confused as to the type of cable required to connect these two up.

For the video, you need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter like THIS ONE from monoprice.com, and an HDMI cable.
For the audio, you need a mini-stereo to RCA cable like THIS ONE from amazon.com (these are commonly available). The TV you list does not seem to have digital audio input (though it does have digital audio output).

  • Cable advice for iMac PowerPC G4 (3.3)

    Hi,
I have this old iMac PowerPC G4 (3.3), the one that has a base station like half a football. I need to get a cable from this to my new projector, which is a DLP Theme, it has a multitude of port options, from S-video, VGA/Scart / Ypb pr, HDMI (V1.3) & finally Y/G, PB/b,Pr/R, Video but only one option from the iMac (I think anyway!). When I look at the Apple store there are many options, can anyone give some advice for the right cable to buy?
    TFN
    Jamie

You need something like this: http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8639G/A
Might depend on the age of your iMac - don't know if the miniVGA connector
    changed over its lifetime.

  • What cable type for connecting with gigabit port

What kind of lan cable that I should use for connecting with gigabit port from Time Capsule to get the fastest transfer rate. And what is the maximum rate MB/sec that could be?

You can use CAT5 or CAT6.
    max transfer rate is:
Fast Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 100 Mbits/sec (12 MB/sec), while Gigabit Ethernet has a theoretical speed of 1000 Mbits/sec (120 MB/sec). That suggests a double speed advantage of Gigabit Ethernet over USB (60 MB/sec), but neither protocol hits its maximum. In reality, a typical USB connected disk is roughly equal to or lesser than the throughput of a shared drive attached over a Gigabit Ethernet network.
    Over wireless network:
    - 802.11b has a theoretical speed maximum of 11 Mbits/sec with a typical transfer rate of around 4.5 Mbits/sec (0.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11g has a theoretical speed maximum of 54 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 23 Mbits/sec (2.5 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.
    - 802.11n has a theoretical speed maximum of 300 Mbits/sec, with a typical transfer rate of around 74 Mbits/sec (9.25 MB/sec) with an ideal signal.

  • Need advice for connecting MIDI-apparat to pc

    Hello,
I have a digital piano which i want to connect to my computer. So i can use some software to record notes being played.
Which would be the most obvious way in connecting it? Just a MIDI-USB data cable (or a MIDI-Gameport. I still have an old SBLive) or do I need to buy an MIDI interface like for example a M-Audio MIDIman?
Is there anyone who could give advice in what is the easiest way? Because I dont want to spend weeks on how to get things working. I had that before with other stuff
    Thanks.

A Midi-USB cable will work, but be wary of any cheap brands as this can give problems with unofficial extensions like Yamaha's XG or Roland's GS (or like above, high latency) I have an E-MU X-midi 1x1 USB Tab myself. Works fine with my keyboard, both ways, but I can't transfer any songs into the database (not sure whether it's the cable of Yamaha's crappy software).

  • Cable Needed To Connect To HDTV?

I have a Macbook and would like to hook it up to my new Vizio HDTV.
What cable do I need to accomplish this?
Here is a link to what the connection on the Vizio TV looks like in the back:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v370/WhammX/0805081307.jpg
Now, here is a link to a cable I already have, though obviously does not connect to that Vizio output:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v370/WhammX/Untitled-1.jpg
So what cable do I need to purchase so I can connect my Macbook to my Vizio HDTV?

I dont have any experience with vizio televisions but your best bet (to avoid confusion) is to just finish the set up you already have. You will need to buy a cable like this:
    http://www.provantage.com/belkin-av21401-06~7BELD018.htm
to connect your laptop adapter to your tv.
If you want to hook up your sound, then you need a cable like this:
    http://www.milkhoneyland.com/male-35mm-to-male-x-35mm-extension-audio-cable-p-77 2.html
Plug one end into your "Audio In" port on your television and the other into your laptop headphone jack. You should be able to find both these cables at any local store with an electronics section such as a Walmart or Best Buy.
    Hope this helps

  • Will this cable work for connecting the Mac Mini's optical out to my audio system?

Mac Mini's optical out to my audio system's Toslink optical in using this cable?
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/297015-REG/Hosa_Technology_OPQ_210_Toslink _Male_to_Mini_Toslink.html
Or must I use an adapter/Toslink cable combination?
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/516240-REG/Hosa_Technology_GOP_490_TOSlink _Optical_Female_to.html + Toslink cable
If both works, which one is better in your opinion?

The cable in the 1st link should work fine. (Toslink to Mini-Toslink)

  • Iphone3g connection to HDTV--what cable, what dock?

I want to connect my, soon to be ordered, Iphone 3g to my kitchen's HDTV. I am still a little confused about a dock for the iphone that will normally be in my kitchen. My kitchen tv supports Component HD connections. (This tv is currently connected, as a slave, via a single cable through the wall to living room tv and Dish receiver--and there are the five connection "ports" available on the back of this tv--for connection to an Apple Component AV cable.) However, the Apple material on this cable only says iphone not iphone 3g. Can this cable plug directly into Iphone 3G? OR could this cable plug directly into the Iphone 3G Dock (on line literature says this dock can connect to a stereo or speakers using an AV cable or a stereo audio cable to play music from IPhone 3G, but it doesn't say anything about its being able to connect to a tv.) So, what dock with what cable could connect my iphone 3g to my tv--so that I can watch video podcasts on my tv in the kitchen?

The Apple Component AV Cable will work directly from the iPhone, and is compatible with the iPhone 3G. The Apple Universal Dock will output video from the iPhone 3G when the Apple Component AV Cable is connected to it (you'd need the iPhone 3G adapter for the Universal Dock, too).
    Hope this helps...

  • Need solutions for PC to HDTV connection

Alright folks after searching around and not finding exactly what I'm looking for, it's time to post a new thread. I've been to multiple sites reading their information, watching their videos, trying what they say to do. No joy still. I have a question about connecting my bosses older computer to a new HDTV, the vision here is a room full of decision makers with my boss at his computer running a PowerPoint presentation, (so we can all see it without crowding around his desk) then we make decisions as a workgroup, looking at the HDTV from around the table. He also needs to have the PPT presentation on both his monitor, and the HDTV screen. Computer Specs: DELL Optiplex 760 Video Adapter: ATI Radeon HD 3450 w/DVI-D out, and 4 pin S-video out The video adapter DVI out has a splitter cable attached that connects via VGA connectors to two DELL monitors. The S-Video port is unused (I tried to connect this way but could not). HDTV Specs: The HDTV has S-Video in, HDMI x3, RCA, VGA x1. Cables available for use: 25' VGA w/audio 20' S-Video 4-pin Can we connect using current hardware or do we need to purchase extra hardware? What type of hardware? We have BestBuy stores # 763 and 852 at our disposal if materials need to be purchased.

There is no reason other than hardware failure for your S-Video not working.  Make sure that when your S-Video is connected, you change the PC's display to clone mode.  Right click anywhere on the desktop and click on the ATI Catalyst Control Center.  If it prompts you to choose between basic or advanced, choose advanced.  The menu to left should have a "Manage Displays" option or something similar.  You can set the monitors to clone from there.  If you do not have a Catalyst option after you right click, you can go into display properties then settings then Catalyst Control Center.
This is probably something you already know, but just in case... Make sure the TV's source is set to S-Video

  • What is the process for connecting ethernet.  Have ethernet cable connected to stereo received for internet radio and Blue Ray. However Network System Preferences indicates ethernet not connected and has red dot to left.  Note Airport wireless is working.

What is the process for connecting airport extreme ethernet?  I have ethernet cables connected to stereo receiver for internet radio and another to blue ray player.  The system preference network indicates "ethernet not connected" with red dot to left of this message.  The airport wireless works and has green dot to left of it.  The stereo receiver and blue ray player do not respond and give message not connect to internet.  Thank you.  /  cfpirate

It worked for me finally. I took out the DNS numbers in airport admin utility, and restarted the airport express. I do not remember putting the DNS numbers in, I wonder from where the airport express got those numbers.
    After restarting, it worked.
    Thanks!

  • What cable for connecting macbook air to dell ultrasharp u2412m?

would like comments on best cable for connecting my mackboo air ro adell monitor - Iam new to apple and a bit lost.

The new Airs have mini displayport connectors. I don't know what ports your monitor has, but if it has an HDMI input you can use a mini-DP to HDMI adaptor (these are available from Apple) and then a regular HDMI cable to connect to the screen. Similarly, a mini-DP to DVI adaptor and DVI cable if that's the port you have on your monitor.

  • Which sort of HDMI cableis recommended for connecting Apple TV to aTelevision?  Does it need to be a normal HDMI cable or one which support Ethernet capabilities?

Which sort of HDMI cableis recommended for connecting Apple TV to aTelevision?  Does it need to be a normal HDMI cable? or one which supports Ethernet capabilities?

no need to go for an expensive HDMI cable as Varjak Paw rightly suggests.
Pretty much all of them come with 1.4 standard these days.
The difference in price is made by additional shielding and material used for the wire - hardly ever needed at home installations - unless you get interference from other devices.
    on the other note.
one HDMI in your TV is obviously not ideal as well as using HDMI splitter or hub - but it should work.
Also I know cases that some LG TV models do not work with Apple TV - which was confirmed by LG technical support.
Those are rare cases and i do not want to worry you at this stage.

  • Advice about FXS Port configuration for connecting to modems

    Hello all,
We have not confirm the problem, but we are having reports that analog devices like USR V.92 Modems and Power meters are not connecting or dropping the connection.  We have an ISR 2911 with the 4-port FXS-DID WIC (VIC3-4FXS/DID), configure to an internet SIP truck provider.  The Router is running IOS 15.3(3)M2.  If we connect an analog phone to the FXS port and call, voice is clear.  So the question is what configuration settings should we have for FXS ports and/or dialpeers for connections to modems?  Attached is the current configuration of the router.
Do we have to be worried about Codec?  If so which Codec should we configure?
Any Physical FXS settings should be set?
    Are my DSP setup correctly?
Again, I'm at a loss, as voice sounds good and my searches for modem connections to FXS Ports on CUCME is coming up dry.  Any help would be great.
As far as the "Power Meters", we are talking substation power meters.
Thanks for any advice you can spare and your time,
    Nick

    Hi Amit,
No problem on the delay.  Your help is very much appreciated.
You're losing me a bit.  Because I don't know if your giving me dial-peer 1 as an example.  1 being just a random number.  Or your telling me to change my current dial-peer 1 configuration.  Which is currently a pots dial-peer:
    dial-peer voice 1 pots
    description POTS port 0/1/0
    destination-pattern 111111111
    port 0/1/0
dial-peer 1000 voip is our outbound call leg.  Sorry call legs are not exactly clear to me yet.  In fact they haven't been in years.  :)  So change my dial-peer to dial-peer voice 1 voip?
My other question still unknown to me is should we use:
    fax protocol pass-through g711ulaw
Even though we are trying to use a modem and not a fax?  Also this command is a dial-peer command and not a global command.  So what global command should i be using?
Again thank you for your time and help,
    Nick

  • UTP Cable Length for AP connect to POE Switch

    Dear All,
What is the limitiation on the length of UTP Cable for connect AP to POE Switch.
    Thanks.
    C.K.

I believe it's consistent with the limits for structured cabling: 100 meters end-to-end, assuming the cabling system is compliant with EIA/TIA sandards.
    Good Luck
