Cable gaming woes

Hi there,
I've recently purchased your ECP2100R2 modem when subscribing to a local Mozambique Cable Internet Service Provider (www.tvcabo.co.mz).
There were no hitches setting things up and am currently connected to the net. Browsing and most services seem to be working great, except for online gaming.
I can't get some of my games to connect to the gaming server on the Internet. I've since been advised to look at my modem/router settings and getting port forwarding to work.
Somehow this option doesn't seem to be available on the web interface I can access by pointing the browser to 192.168.100.1.
Just wanted to know if this feature doesn't work at all, if I need a fixed ip address to use it, or if it's a problem with the model?
At the moment there doesn't seem to be a way of setting up port forwarding on the router at all. I just wonder if this makes Internet gaming impossible altogether?
I'd really appreciate any advice.

Thanks for attending to this then.
I have a normal class C address assigned.
Upon further investigating this, it looks like the problem is indeed with the modem/router ports being closed.
Funny enough the modem's web interface only gives an about report, and all the rest is disabled. It seems this interface allows for setting up port forwarding but the feature is by default disabled by the ISP.
I think I'm on the right track and asked them to please enable local port control on the modem/ router(by flashing it remotely?).
Hopefully this should allow me to open ports locally from my machine and get specific games to work by changing setup options?
Let's hope they are willing to be helpful since I'm particularly not happy with the fact of owning a modem whose ports I cannot open and close as I please at my own risk.
This of course being careful and all since I do have some net knowledge just never had cable Internet at home before.
Please let me know if I'm making sense :\

  • MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G 6-Pin to 8-Pin PEG Cable

I planning to get a MSI GTX 960 Gaming 2G. My PSU is 470-watt and only comes with a 6-Pin PEG cable. The power connector of the graphic card is a 8-Pin PEG. And MSI does bundle with a 6-Pin to 8-Pin PEG cable right?
My concern is the 6-Pin to 8-Pin PEG cable. If I'm using this adapter, any issues or performance degrade?

My workstation is a HP Z400. The PSU model is "DPS-475C8-1 A" from HP. And manufactured by Delta Electronics.

  • Bad port?  Bad cable?  Firewire woes....

    greetings,
the other day my external Glyph drive went "click" and then wouldn't mount.
I removed the glyph drive from its enclosure and tested. drive wass fine, but the enclosure no longer functioned properly. no big deal, bad luck, dead enclosure, right?
was having some trouble after this with the bottom firewire port that the glyph drive was plugged into; it wouldn't mount any drives and ASP said "no information found". i zapped PRAM and did reset-nvram + reset-all open firmware resets. the bottom port recognized drives again, yay.
the next day i plugged a new and different external drive into the bottom port [using the same cable as before] and it mounted fine. left it to copy some files overnight.
this morning, woke the computer from sleep and the drive was still mounted. i unmounted the drive, then tried mounting it again. this new external drive started clicking and wouldn't mount. pulled the drive from the second enclosure to find the drive in tact but the drive's enclosure no longer functioning, same as the glyph enclosure 2 days earlier.
of course, my iMac G5 is 1 week out of warranty, else i would take it in and let apple sort it out.
any hints? any more testing i could try?
how does one test a firewire port, without killing more enclosures?
the top firewire port seems to be fine. the bottom firewire port still mounts and can copy files, etc, but i don't want to plug more drives into it until i know it's not the culprit.
    any help greatly appreciated
    jeremy

  • Can I use my 27" late 2013 model iMac as a monitor for a gaming console through some sort of input cable?

I just bought a 27" iMac for college and I was curious if it was possible for to use my iMac as a screen for a gaming console to forgo buying a TV.

If the fuction is not addressed in this Apple article:

you can't do it. Target Dispaly mode is a Mac-to-Mac function, and then only with late-model computers.

  • MSI z87-G45 GAMING Killer Nic e2200 Network Cable Not Connected?

I keep receiving this error on my PC roughly once per day.  Most times it takes a complete computer restart and then waiting some time before resolving.  It will happen at random intervals, sometimes lasting for over an hour.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue?  For reference, I have already tried wiping the Qualcom software and installing JUST the driver, which was found on this forum in another post.
    Thanks in advance!

Well my issue was the cable, but I researched this a lot when I was having problems.
What does the cmd window say when you try to ping?
I tried the following when I had issues.....
    1. install new firmware, must make sure that windows firewall and security firewalls are completely turned off. The firmware states that there is a known compatibility issue with firewalls.
    2. Try a static ip with google dns.
    3. disable IP6, you will have to find a thread on this cause just unchecking it in the properties window doesn't disable it.
    4. ip refresh/renew
    5. Programs like peerblock can affect it. Do you have any VPNs?
    6. I did a bios update too.
It's funny cause I was just having "general failure" issues and the first comment from Svet is to try a high quality network cable cause that was the solution to my problem.

  • 6102i Data Cable Woes

Okay, This all started 2 weeks ago. I was on amazon and found a CA-42 cable from BargainCell.com for dirt cheap. Since my phone is all but useless now (both screens mysteriously shattered in the middle of the night) I wanted to back up pics of my baby girl and others I'd hate to lose. Eagerly I bought the cable. When it arrived, I noticed it looked different than the one from the Nokia webstore. I tried the cable and version of PC suite it came with. My computer couldn't read the cable, nor could my phone, which gave the error "Enhancement not supported). After research I've come to find it's a clone from China. Furious I called them only to find that they don't open until nearly noon EST. I waited, called back and ripped the poor boy a new one. He passed me off to his boss, then on and on. I was passed off to 5 different people before the snooty person on the other end explained "Oh, well, it's not OEM. That's why it's not working." "Why sell a bootleg if it's **bleep**? Does the BBB need to step in here?" "Nowhere on the amazon page does it even mention the cable OEM" "Well, it certainly doesn't say it's a phony either. I want this handled TODAY!" "Well, if you send it back we'll refund purchase price" "No, you're sending me what I ordered. The real deal or bad publicity" "Yes sir, we'll send it out right away".
Yesterday, the package arrives. It's a freaking DKU-2 cable (108382622101)that Windows says is malfunctioning. Drivers and software are all installed (except for the ones from microsoft.com which seem to be no longer available) and updated, uninstalled and re-installed, and nothing. Am I doomed to lose these amazing pics of my beautiful child? I mean, $50 is a bit steep for just a cable I'm only going to use once, I don't have multimedia messaging available on my Cingular (AT&T) plan (Already at $81/month for 2 phones).

Aug 2007-long time ago. If you are still there I'm saying you probably found out that there are not any drivers for that phone to be found. Maybe there are, but I have been on this Nokia site for a half hour trying to find out if there drivers available. What a letdown this site is as Nokia is "state of the art?" Unbelievable. No gain in being angry, but I just wanted to tell Somebody that the cable you bought is the same one I got and it doesn't seem to be the problem. I keep getting the message that I need drivers for the phone and one page went from 6101 to 6103.

  • How to hook gaming component cable to computer?

First off, i just bought a ps3 and normally you plug the yellow/white/red cables into your TV and play, BUT my computer has the yellow/white/red things you plug into on the front and back of my computer. so im thinking if i plug that cable into my computer, i can play off my monitor without having to buy a cable spesifically for my monitor from ps3. but when i plug it in, i dont' know how to switch it over to my ps3... can someone help as to how you switch your display over to the ps3? its plugged into my computer i just don't know how to switch displays. thx.

    Hi,
Are you referring to the yellow video composite input port on the front of your PC?  One of my PCs (m9200t) has the same mobo as your PC and the same front input ports. Typically the front video in port is used with a capture program.  I can understand your quality issue.  Composite video is limited to 480i at best.
I have a PS3 but I cable it directly to my monitor via an extra monitor port but I normally use the PS3 cabled directly to my TV.
You might look for a hardware converter box that takes two differnet inputs and switches the video to one output port to avoid cable switching.

  • Z97 Gaming 5 Direct Audio Power Cable?

I think the audio is pretty poor on this motherboard and wanted to see if using the direct audio power would improve it. However, I have mislaid the cable. Is it possible to get a spare or is there anywhere in the UK I can buy one?

My previous experience with MSI support is it is slow and not very helpful. I'll try anyway but does anyone know if that cable can be bought as a generic cable rather than specific MSI cable?
For example I can see plenty of molex to 3 pin fan cables for sale. Would one of these fit the direct audio power connector on the motherboard and do the same thing. Or anything else similar? It seems a bit stupid if they have used a proprietary cable and don't sell spares.

CPU and GPU info on CPU-Z and GPU-Z applications:
    3DMark Fire Strike score: 6441
3DMark Fire Strike Extreme score: 3384
    3DMark Fire Strike Ultra score:1262
The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
The comments of the game for your reference:
There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
(The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!

  • VPN gate client- "Network cable unplugged"

i have vpn gate client installed for a game that i wish to play. to do so i need to be able to use vpn gate client. it doesn't let me connect to any server but that's not why i'm here.
the problem i believe is the issue is that it states that the VPN Client under network connections tells me that the network cable is unplgged. and when i trouble shoot it it states that i need to plug in my ethernet cable.
i use a msi gaming 7 motherboard and it comes with it's own killer ethernet gigabyte controller. or "Killer e2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller"
this controller is in use so could it be that the vpn gate isn't working because killer e2200 is running as well? i'm confused because when i used this software on my laptop it worked perfectly fine.
any suggestions as to how i could possible fix this issue or enable the vpn client adapter? thanks!

I have a related problem with the e2200 NIC on a Z97 Gaming 3 motherboard:  I cannot make an IPSEC VPN connection with this NIC.  If I use an add-on NIC, I can connect just fine, as I can from dozens of other computers with a variety of NIC makes and models.

  • Z87-G45 Gaming not able to install Win7 x64 with Samsung 840 EVO

    I have a brand new:
    i5 4570
    MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
    250GB Samsung 840 EVO
    1x 8GB Corsair ValueRam DDR3 1600
I got everything hooked up properly, but I am not able to install Win7 x64 through an USB pen drive (Kingston Datatravel 32GB USB3) I have a proper  official and Legit MSDN ISO, formatted by the Win7 USB tool from MS itself.
Note that i do not have an optical device (DVD) installed so I cannot use it 'the old way'.
Bios settings are okay, everything is recognized
    USB Legacy - Kingston Datatraveler
HDD Legacy - Samsung 840 EVO
Win7 setup loads properly; but before I can select the Harddrive / SSD to install Win7 on I get prompted that additional (3rd party) drivers are needed to proceed. The volume is not recognized. This happens 9 out of 10 times. In the 10% cases I do get the option to format the SSD and/or create partitions. However, installation fails after all, cannot load or find file ...
    What I've tried so far:
Switch out the SATA cables and power cables
Switch through the various SATA ports on the MB 1 through 6
Tried UEFI and UEFI/Legacy (UEFI doesn't seem to work at all)
    Update UEFI to V 1.50
All the above result in the case mentioned.
I have succesfully installed the SSD in an other PC, using the same pen drive and ISO and it worked like a charme, thus ruling out that the SSD, pen drive or image is corrupt.
Even when I switched out the SSD after Win7 setup has succesfully copied, unpacked and installed all the files (doing this on the other machine where it works like a charm). Then switching it to the MSI Z87...it fails; starting the setup procedure right from the start, like nothing was ever written on the SSD...
Finally i turned to Win8, and guess what, it installed without any glitches on the MSI Z87
What am I missing here, I would really want to install Win7 instead of Win8
Forgot to enable / disable something in the UEFI? I really don't know, google doesn't give much information on this specific problem (SSD is recognized properly by the BIOS / UEFI as far as I can tell)
The only thing I have not tried out so far is updating the Samsung SSD firmware to the 1.0 version which has been release 3 days ago...
    Any clues, tips, hunches??

Quote from: Bernhard on 25-October-13, 18:33:41
Did you disable Secure Boot in the BIOS? If not, then Win7 won't load.
Hmmm not sure, thanks for the reply, will have to look into that later today!
I didn't change it from the default setting I think, unless it is part of the Win8 features in the UEFI. All where disabled by default, and I kept them disabled.
Where is Secure Boot listed in the UEFI, and any idea wether it is enabled by default?
    ::EDIT::
Found it in some screenshots, I cannot recall from the top of my head wether it was enabled or disabled, allthough my gutt feeling says it already is disabled.

  • MSI A88XM GAMING | Can't boot with new PCI-e x1 card plugged in

    Hi,
I'm a owner to an MSI A88XM GAMING motherboard and I purchased a AverMedia Live Gamer HD card last week. After unboxing and installing the card to one of my PCI-e x1 slots the computer won't boot. All what happends is what the fans starts and the power LED turns on, but that's all. No beeps or anything.
I know for sure what the AverMedia Live Gamer HD card is working just fine, as I've already tested it on my old computer. I've also tested if it might have been a power issue, by disconnected everything and running it on a towel outside the case, still the same result. Connecting it to any of the other 3 PCI-e ports gives the same result. All the PSU cables are properly connected and the motherboard has the latest BIOS version on it.
Is there any way to get it to work on my computer? I would really like to avoid switching motherboard is possible. Using a 2:nd computer is also not an option, as I want to be able to just take it with me without any issues.

Well, someone is doing something with the BIOS because they sent me 1.2B6 a couple weeks ago for the same 88XM GAMING motherboard -- and it didn't fix my Display Port issues.  Maybe the changes were to the PCIe timings?
I didn't want to test any more 1.2 beta builds, due to earlier problem with them. But I'll give the final build of v1.2 a try later today, I didn't notice what it had been released.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the video output from the motherboard, instead of the 280x, when you have card installed? (Make sure the IGP is enabled in bios)
That was one of the very first things I tried, did so after my 2:nd post on the forum. You can find the results here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=183220.msg1315289#msg1315289
I've contacted the AverMedia Support, hopefully they should be able to find the issue. It's possible what it might be a firmware related issue.
I've also searched around on the XSplit forum if there's anyone else what have run into the same problem. But couldn't find anything, so I made a thread and asked directly instead. I got a reply from someone on the Support Staff, but he couldn't find anything either.

    Hi,
Currently I have a problem with JPWR2 on a X99S GAMING 7 Motherboard. When I plug a 6 pin or a 8 pin on the JWPR2 the motherboard crash and the cable overheat or short-circuit. My power supply is a 1000W SIlent pro bronze. I tested with a new cable on another port on the power supply but it doesn’t work. I tested with without CPU too but still the same problem.
    Can someone help me ?

you are using the Cooler master 1000W silent pro bronze right?
Normally the power supply should have 4 pin or 8 pin,  the 6pin/8pin is normally for the VGA card and not for the Motherboard.
Please double check again and use the 4 pin or 8 pin for the MB.
