Cable interconnecting Cat. 3550 and 3560

What would be an appropiate cable connecting the 3550 catalyst and the 3560?
3550 has 2 gbic ports, while the 3560 has 4 spf module slots.

. Can the Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series switches support the GigaStack® or StackWise™ technology?
A. The Cisco Catalyst 3560 switches do not support the Cisco GigaStack Technology on the Catalyst 3550, 2950G, and 3500 XLs or the Cisco StackWise technology available on the Catalyst 3750. However, a cluster of any combination of these platforms can be managed via a single IP address using the Cisco Network Assistant (CAN) software. There are more details on CNA later in this document.

  • Daisy chain of 3550 and 3560

Can we use a mixture of 3550 and 3560 in a daisy chain. What i mean is
1.if i want to connect 4 switches in a daisy chain can two of them be 3550's and the other two be 3560's.
    2. If i ahve 2 3550's in a daisy chian can i add one more 3560 to the same chain

it may be more beneficial to aggregate 3 of the switches to one via the GB/SFP ports.
    ie:
    switch1-3560 >> switch2
    switch1-3560 >> switch3
    switch1-3560 >> switch4
having correctly sized ports for aggregated bandwidth will be required.
you can also perform daisy chaining as you've asked.

  • Sfp interconnect between 2960 and 3560

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the sfp interconnect cable can be used between 2960-48TC-L and a 3560-48PS-E?
    Thanks
    Andy

    in short, YES.
the 3560-48PS-E has the 4 SFP ports.
the 2960-48TC-L has two 'dual purpose' uplinks which can support SFP or copper.
(you can only use one type at a time; not SFP and copper simultaneously)
please see the following links for more info on those two devices:

  • Setting 3550 and 3560 Switched to Non-Negotiate

On some of the older models of the 3550 switches I was able to set the SFP interface to non-negotiate. I do not notice that command available in the documentation anymore. Does it still exist?

    Hello,
Do you have access to any of the switches in question? You can always use the context help under the interface
    (config-if)#switchport ?
On my 3550 the nonegotiate is an option.

  • Stack configuration in Cat 3550

    Hi,
I have connected two cat 3550 in point-to-point stack connection. I want to know the software configuration part of this. Will there be any master slave mode? how many management IPs will be there for this stack? will all the 48 interfaces will appear in a single CLI?
    Thanks & Regards
    RR

    Hi,
Please paste a show version from your switch.
The link that I pasted is from the lastest IOS's switch configuration guide 12.2(25)SEC release in july 2005.
I still believe that you can set up a switch cluster on 3550.
The Point to point stacking that you have setup is a gigastack configuration, which will give you 1000 MBPS full duplex backplane connectivity with stack switch switches. Still you need to set up switches as a switch cluster so that you cna manage them using a single IP.
Switch Clustering technology allows customers to manage a stack of devices within a wiring closet or a broadly dispersed set of devices across a campus as a single IP entity. Switch Clustering technology uses standard TCP/IP packets to distribute and collect management information for all switches in the cluster. Switch Clustering supports a broad range of physical interconnections, including the GigaStack GBIC.

  • Is there a difference between CAT 6 and 6A?

    Hi,
I have a few Mac's connected to the Apple Extreme (Gigabit) and I'm using CAT 6 cables. Should I upgrade them to CAT 6A, and what would be the benefit of doing so?
    Thanks!

If you plan to upgrade to a 10 Gigabit router soon, then it might make sense to look at CAT6A cables. But for most of us, routers in the $20-25K range are a bit out of reach. And then you would have to add hard drives to support 10G as well. I expect they would cost as much or more than the routers.

    Which TV do you have.
You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

  • I tried for update but when i saw the screen its showing an arrow with a USB cable towards itunes icon, and now i'm not able to do anything, i also tried to connect ipad through my laptop but no use

i tried for update but when i saw the screen its showing an arrow with a USB cable towards itunes icon, and now i'm not able to do anything, i also tried to connect ipad through my laptop but no use

That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. There was a problem with the update. So connect the iPad to your computer and restore your iPad.
You can read bout it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If that does not work you will need recovery mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Or you can follow these Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

Go to sounds in system pref and select outputs. When the hdmi cable is plug into the tv it will show as an option under output. Just select that option.

  • After my friend locked me out of my iPhone with too many wrong passwords I restored my iPhone and now it is showing that picture of a cable leading towards itunes and itunes says the sim is not supported but it is the original sim. How do I fix this?

After my friend locked me out of my iPhone with too many wrong password attempts I restored my iPhone via recovery mode and now it is showing that picture of a cable leading towards itunes, and itunes says the sim is not supported but it is the original sim. How do I fix this?

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

  • Does the HDMI cable carry both video and audio? U

Does the HDMI cable carry both video and audio?
If so what is the purpose of the separate optical audio connection?
Just a little confusion setting the Apple TV Up with my AV receiver.
    TIA.

You would use both HDMI and optical by connecting the former to a TV and the latter to a receiver that doesn't have an HDMI input so that you could play the audio through your stereo system.
You can use the HDMI alone, typically directly to the TV or through an A/V receiver, as HDMI does carry both video and sound.
For the year prior to the disastrous 4.4 updates a couple of weeks ago, you could use optical alone to add AirPlay music capabilities to your stereo system, so that you could stream music from iTunes and devices like the Touch and iPhone to your stereo. The 4.4 update broke that capability, requiring the use of HDMI for no reason. Lots and lots of people have been complaining about that bug, as it effectively bricks the Apple TV for anyone who bought it for this purpose but can't use the HDMI connection.

  • Are all iPod cables able to sync and recharge?

I bought a second cable because a family member had lost theirs and was borrowing mine. It was a Griffin. I discovered that I was unable to sync my ipod with the new cable and though I thought my ipod was broken, discovered that the cable was for recharging the battery only. I returned it and purchased a Belkin instead. As I was tearing apart the packaging I discovered a small label on the cable itself stating that it was for charging only.
Until this experience I would have assumed that all cables are capable of both recharging and syncing your ipod to itunes. Given that's not the case, I wonder why they don't mark the packaging more clearly stating that the cable will do one and not the other?
Can I safely assume that an Apple branded cable with both sync and recharge?

claimed to be compatible with ipod touch
One of the problems is where as once there was only one touch version, there are now two versions.
Unless the package specifically states '2nd generation touch', the product is designed to work with the 1st generation touch. For example, Belkin has a page specifically for iPod touch 2G accessories and I don't see ANY syncing/charging cables for the 2G touch.
Griffin Technology does claim to have a USB to Dock Cable for syncing/charging 2G touches.
