Cable needed to present Keynote from Macbook? In College.

I have a new Macbook and want to take my macbook so i can present a keynote presentation i created. this will take place at my college, which all classes has a projector (but its mounted on the ceiling) and the projector is connected to a computer, with Windows.
What cable do I need to connect my macbook to a computer with windows and display it on the projector?
im not sure if there is a projection connection near the front of the class but if there is, is there a simpler cable to use?
How much do these cost?

The above post is correct, but a little more specific to your question - I don't believe you can connect from your mac to a windows machine to display.
The connections mentioned are what you need. You just have to disconnect from the windows machine and use the adapter to connect to your laptop. I have to do this alot. It's a little pain in the rear but is what you have to do.

  • New iMac - need to move files from Macbook Pro to new iMac

    Hi there everyone,
Did some quick searching, but didn't find the answer that I needed.
I am picking up my new 27" iMac (base model) and will need to move my files and programs from my Macbook Pro to the iMac. What is the best way to accomplish this? Are there any tools on the iMac that will help do that, or is it a manual effort?
    Thanks!

When you first start new Mac it will ask you if you want to migrate. Say yes at that point and Setup Assistant will migrate everything for you.

  • Need help projecting keynote from my iPod....??

Ok so I purchased keynote for my iPod it's great and all but I cannot seem to project it on my wall. I have a projector and I video cord but no picture lol
I read a lot about "Presenters  notes" and "presenters display" but dont find where to play from there. Also, in the help page it mentions 2 places to press "play" but the opputunity is not there.. please help..

First of all, when connecting your iPod to your computer, be sure to click "NO" if you recieve a message like this: "This iPod is linked to another computer. Would you like to replace the content?"
    Then, onto the iPod-to-computer transfer:
There are a few different methods with transferring iPod songs to your computer.
    These include:
--- Manually transfer your iPod songs to iTunes. See MacMuse's posting here: iPod songs to computer (MacMuse post)
--- Add your iPod's folder into the iTunes library (via iTunes). See Jeff Bryan's post here: Using iTunes settings to transfer iPod songs to iTunes
--- Use a third-party program to get the transferring done. For a Windows computer, CopyPod should work good. Also, you can try out YamiPod.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Need help moving cursor from MacBook to iBook G4 together...

using my mouse. I bought a new MacBook, but still use my old iBook G4 and it works great too.
I just can't figure out how to have the cursor go from one to another. I tried Synergy, but it became confusing when I tried to install and have now given up.
Anyone have any solutions to this?
    Thanks.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I use Teleport between 3 Macs (similar to synergy)
    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22339>
In my case I use my iMac's keyboard and mouse to tell my PowerMac G5 and my MacBook what to do.
The PowerMac G5 and MacBook Teleports are configured to share, and the iMac is setup to control the other 2. It works very well for me. At worse, when I move my MacBook out of the office and back, I sometimes have to tell the iMac to stop using Teleport and then start again to re-acquire the MacBook. Otherwise it is great.

  • What audio cable do I need to hook from macbook pro to an amp?

Yeah, just wondering if any audio cable will work to hook from Macbook Pro (10..5.8) to an amp?  Not skilled in this area at all!  thanks!

It would help to know what inputs your amp has, what outputs your computer has, and what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Keynote and Macbook - How to disable "play" key from starting presentation?

I use Keynote to view lecture presentations with audio running in the background from the lecturer (in Quicktime 7) or music (in iTunes 9).
As such, there are times when I need to press the play/pause keys on my Macbook Pro's keyboard since the audio may have gone past the point I've read on the slide.
In Keynote however, hitting the "Play" key starts the presentation and stops the audio in the background.
How can I disable Keynote from taking commands from the audio control keys?
    Thanks!

    Hey thanks. But, I tried.
Where I hit the wall was, trying to figure out where in the menubar of the Quicktime app I could find the menu text for Play/Pause.
    There is no such thing.
I need a menu command 'text' for this Keyboard shortcuts setting (sys pref) to work.
So, because of this, I can't assign the Play command to quicktime to anything else.
The default key is the Spacebar (Play/Pause) or the F7,F8,F9 in recent keyboard setup.
For now, I just Cmd+Tab between apps when doing the transcript.
True, I could use something else for transcript and then import text afterwards.

No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

You would need a Firewire 800-800 (9-pin) cable and a Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptor.

But the newest Mac notebooks do not have a firewire port.
So he may need a TB to FW adapter, $29, a FW 400 or 800 cable, $??, and then a FW 400 to 800 cable/port adapter (If the old Mac only has a FW 400 port), $??.
It is unknown if the old Mac has a FW 400 or 800 port.

Me too. Have you purchased Keynote via the App Store app in your Mac's dock or Applications folder? ...Purchasing Keynote for iPhone/iPad still requires that you purchase the Mac version separately:

Actually you need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. It will carry both audio and video.
This one will work: Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support

What cable do i need to watch  netflix from my ipad to the tvv

Netflix does support video out. The type of cable depends on your TV. I have used the composite cable and the HDMI adapter with an HDMI cable. Both of these cables work great. There is an AV cable, but I haven't used it, but it should work also. Video quality wise the order of preference would be HDMI, AV, Composite. I bought the composite cable for traveling, because I figure most TVs in hotels would have composite inputs.
