Cable to connect iPod to video input of TV or VCR

What do I need to play the videos I have on my i-pod on my TV.
I am sure it is some kind of cable. Does it connect to the port on the bottom of the iPod or the audio jack?

Hey I bought a mini-dvi adapter a while back and have just purchased a s-video to scart cable to connect it to my television but there is no picture showing just a blue screen. Any help would be gratefully received.

which adapter did you buy exactly?
there is 3 for this series of macbook - DVI, VGA, & analog RCA - S-Video.
if you bought the analog RCA - S-video, I belive the one for the UK has a different part #. you may have bought one for the States that may not support your standard.

when i connect my ipod touch using usb cable with mac..itunes is not detecting it..even itouch is not charging..what should i do?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • Connecting iPOD classic to TV using Apple Component cable

I have a 80g ipod classic and an apple component AV cable. I am trying to connect this to an TV with component video inputs. This TV is not an HDTV. I have attached the bl gr r cables in the correct position. I am getting a scrambled picture for NTSC and a split picture for PAL. based on my location I am sure that I should be using NTSC.
I brought my iPOD into a local apple store and he was able to plug it in to an HDTV there with no problem so I'm pretty sure that niether the ipod or the cable is defective.
    My question is:
Is the ipod classic only compatible with an HDTV using the component cable? If so, will it work using the composite cable?

The dock is only good so you can use the remote. I don't know what the problem is with your Standard TV's with Component Inputs ... I've tried two different ones, also different brands, and they worked. I did make sure to change the iPod Video Settings to "TV Size = Standard". If it's set to Widescreen, that may account for the problem.
Otherwise, I'd suggest returning the Component cables and getting the Composite ones ... or just get the Composite ones as well. Personally, I think Apple totally screwed us all over by not just adding ONE dang Composite Video out cable to the AV Cables and allowing the Component Out to have a HD/Standard switch, much like most of the Game Console AV cables available. I don't know why they didn't do this, especially since we've got about 2 years before EVERYONE starts upgrading to HD. I guess they're just hoping to rake in some extra money by not making the Component AV Cable more capable.

  • Connecting ipod to tv through component av cable

can we connect the ipod video 5th generation to tv by using component av cable? I have tried but no video output. can anybody help. TQ

I am trying to connect my 5th generation 60Gb ipod to my Samsung Plasma HDTV using the Component AV Cable from Apple. I have enabled TV-Out in Video settings on the ipod.
I am finding matching the color schemes on the Apple AV composite cables and the TV does not work! Why would Apple make this non-intuitive?
I connected the Audio Component AV Cable, Left-Audio-White and Right-Audio-Red to the audio inputs on my TV matching the labels and color schemes on the TV. Intuitive setup but no audio.
I connected the Video Component AV Cable, Y=Green, Pb=Blue, Pr=Red to the video inputs on my TV matching the labels and color schemes on the TV. Seems like an intuitive setup. Hmmm...no audio or video.
The directions say connect the red, green and blue video connectors into the component video input (Y, Pb, Pr) on your TV. Okay so that is Y=Red, Pb=Green, and Pr=Blue. Connecting the Red video cable to Y on my TV resulted in Black & White video and audio. Connecting the Green Video cable to Pb and Blue Video cable to Pr results in a PINK video and audio?!?!?!?
Apple...you claim to make stuff that is easy to use...you blew it on this one! What is the magic to hook this up?

  • How to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.

Trying to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.  Can I use a simple cable or do I need a converter box/plug? Is the HDMI signal coming from ATV encrypted or HDCP enabled?
The TV is HD, but only has a component input and not HDMI.  Apple TV 2g only has HDMI output.

    google component hdmi converter
but they are pretty expensive and may not work at all
and will not work with any DRM material as in movies you reant and maybe netflix and the sports thingy

  • How can I connect my iPad to a TV that only has an s-video input available but also has a usb port on the satellite box available.

I would like to connect my iPad to my older TV but the only inputs available are the s-video input port on the TV itself and there is also a USB input port on the satellite box that feeds the TV. I could also split all the RCA jacks to accomodate another input here. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this problem of mine..............RR.

The USB port on the cable box is for maintenance use only.

  • Connect Ipod video remote doc to TV

I have a problem with connecting my iPod to my tv. I connected my remote dock with a s-video cable to my TV but i get no sound or screen. Do i need extern power? Why do i don't get any signal? Anybody with answers?
    Daniel

You did also connect the audio cable, correct?
The S-Video cable only carries the video signal.
Some televisisons will not display video unless they also have audio connected.
Also, make sure you have the correct source selected on your television.

  • Using iPod A/V Cable to connect to speakers...

Can you use the iPod A/V cable to connect a MacBook to speakers or is the cable designed to be used only with the iPod? I've tried doing this twice with two different sets of speakers and there is sound coming through the speakers, but it sounds like the music is coming from far away or as if it's being muffled by something. Should I just buy a regular A/V cable if I want to connect my MacBook to a pair of speakers or is there a special cable specifically for MacBooks that I should buy?

    1. Check to see if your Monitor is set to Digital Input.
    2. Try a different DVI cable.
    3. Take the Mac Mini back to the Apple Store or Apple Retailer and have them assist you in getting it connected to your Monitor.
Additionally, you have 90 days free phone support with the standard warranty or three years if you have Apple Care.

  • IPod Touch - video out using older iPod Composite cable

OK so the running commentary about video output from the iPod touch is a little confusing. It seems that the only video out supported by apple seems to be from their own component/composite cables. The older iPod Photo came with a 1/8" headphone A/V composite cable that allowed me to connect it to my TV for photo slide-shows with a soundtrack. Can I use this same cable to connect the IPT with my TV or am I now forced to purchase the $50.00 30-pin cable? I cannot find anything that is definitive, and I have not tried it yet. After spending a small fortune on the iPod I am not excited about having to buy a new cable...
    Thanks

Just the cable - I was using "dock" in the sense of dock connector (which is how the non-USB end is referred to), not the Universal Dock product.
Here are links to the Apple Store for the component and composite cables. These also include a USB cable for power.
You're guessing correctly - the USB cable (with the dock connector on the other end) that you use for syncing cannot transmit video from the IPT.

  • Ipod componant video cable.

Hi, i just got my ipod componant video cable and dock, and it worked fine untill i was messing around with my ipod and switched the tv signal thing to PAL(whatever that is) then had switched it back and no i get no video i just get lines and fuzz and snow and stuff on the screen, i get audio but no video, please help me.

NTSC is the tv broadcast format used in North America. PAL is the tv broadcast format used throughout most of the world. That answers your first question.
Here is what I would try. Reset your iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.
Then after your iPod comes back to life, open the Videos menu and then go to the Settings menu.
Make sure your settings are as follows:
    TV Out: Off
    TV Signal: NTSC
    Fullscreen: Off
    Captions: Off
Now plug in your cable to the docking port and connect to the tv. If you are still in the video settings menu, you should see the TV Out item change to On. If not change it to ON.
Now try to play a video.
I suspect that if you change to PAL from NTSC or vice-versa while the cable is still plugged in that the output actually is not getting changed.
