Cable to ipod connection

Hello,
I am very ipod /itunes challenged, but my immediate question is, I have finally turned off my son's ipod (after many unsuccessful attempts) and would like to uplug the cable from the ipod itself but it is not easy to take out and I don't want to break it. Is there a way to do this that I am not aware of ? I have no disconnect message or any such thing. I have never been so frustated with a device in my life. I thought Apple products were supposed to be user friendly.
Thanks!

It has little locks to hold it in.
Press in on the sides of the connector and it'll release.

  • USB Device for IPOD not recognized by Windows, whether ipod connected or no

During the past few days I have received a pop up error message from (I would think) Windows that the USB device is not recognized. I have the USB plug for the ipod connected (as always)but the ipod isn't even connected. It keeps popping up like every few seconds that the usb device is not recognized.
When I attach the ipod itself, the ipod is recognizing it because it powers up. But, it took 10 times just to get the ipod to recognize through itunes. It updated, then immediately upon completion, windows again starting giving repeated error messages that the usb device wasn't recognized.
I have downloaded the newest itunes but I had it on my system for 4 days with no problems whatsoever. I don't think that's it. No other system changes.
I've deleted my temp files and cache. Also did a "disk clean up" and "defrag." It's still doing it.
    Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. Ever since I upgraded to version 7, iTunes & my PC no longer recognise my iPod, and it therefore won't sync.
It's not the USB port (other devices work in it), I rebooted my iPod and re-installed iTunes, I've tried stopping and starting the iPod Service (but can't see my iPod in My Computer). When I run the Diagnostics it says iPod connection failed. I've even bought a new USB cable but that doesn't work either.
This is driving me up the wall. Is there a glitch with iTunes 7?
Can anyone help me out?? Thanks

  • Ipod connected with VW part to my car: right speakers crackles with music

It only crackles/buzzes with music and not in silent gaps and only my right speakers. I have checked and my my PC files play without any noise. My ipod plays fine with headphones and via hifi connect. My ipod connects at the base with the VW radio/cd player. My VW radio /CD plays correctly with radio and with CD so i presume its not my right speaker. All music is from CD sources and none from any downloads. NOte also it is the same whether the car is running or not. SO does anyone know why the right channel/right speaker has a crackle/buzzing when i listen to my ipod in my car. VW have not come with anything. I am new to the ipod. Any one have any ideas please?

Do you get normal stereo sound from your Nano when using headphones?  If so then the problem is not with the iPod but with the car's sound system, or more likely the cable connecting the two.

  • Sound dropping when iPod connected to stereo - iOS 4.1

Why is the sound dropping when watching videos from the iPod when connected to a TV?
I have a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K AV receiver with this nice setup (cable and functionality) that lets me watch videos on my TV with the iPod connected to the AVR (USB + composite video cable). The result is not bad, with better video than audio.
HOWEVER after upgrading to iOS 4.1 the sound (not picture) is dropping after various intervals of time (1 - 20 minutes) while plugged into the AVR. When I unplug the connection the video stops and the iPod goes back to the menu. The audio plays normally when restarting the video without the cable and continues to play normally when I plug the AVR cable back into the iPod. On occassions when plugging the AVR's cable into the iPod the sound does not come back, though unpluggin and plugging in again usually does it.
Anyone else have similar issues? I see some issues with apps and battery life under iOS4.1 and a few issues with audio / picture playback:

Have people had similar problems when iPods are connected to AVRs or TVs through composite or component cables? I realize the quality of sound / pictures from the iPod is not superb though it is as good as my sattelite dish. I could just have a computer connected to the AVR via HDMI or similar but well that would mean having a computer just for iTunes.

Thanks for posting this because I too have the Pioneer VSX-1019AH and have just noticed this problem. I rarely listen to my iphone (ipod) through my receiver and this problem never occured before until yesterday.
I am experiencing a sound loss at random times, and it takes restarting the receiver, or disconnecting then reconnecting the iphone cable to get the sound back again, only for it to go off again in a few moments time.
Whilst the sound is off, both the iphone and receiver are continuing to play music because you can see the title of the tracks change on both devices. So where the fault lies is hard to tell but I'd say it's with the ios4.
I don't know whether Apple will provide any support regarding this problem but I do notice the receiver has been endorsed "made for ipod" which means it meets Apple performance standards.

  • Odd iPod connection conundrum

A few days ago, my iPod connected to my iMac via FireWire just fine. iTunes detected it and auto-updated it as it was supposed to, the iPod charged as it was supposed to, and everything was fine and dandy.
Now, only one of those two things happens. The iPod charges, but does not show up in Finder or iTunes. I have tried the first 4 of the 5 Rs, so to speak, but I cannot restore the iPod as all of the sites I've found say that I need to be able to see it in iTunes to do so. I'm fairly sure that it's not a problem of a bad cable or FireWire port, because the iPod can still draw power from the connection.
I haven't found anything else on the boards or the support page that has helped, but if I've overlooked something, please link me.
    Thanks!

It probably is the Firewire ports since a locked up port will still have power, just no data transfer. Do you have other FW devices you could try to check?
The good news, in a twisted sort of way, is that Macs have a tendancy to lock up the FW ports so they don't work but can be fixed by resetting them.
See, most modern Macs, even when you power them "off" still have power applied to their mother/logic boards and this includes the Firewire chip set. Sometimes the FW chipset gets into an unknown state and sits there locked up. Even when you shut down the computer, the chip set is still powered and so still locked up.
So to reset, shu down your computer and then unplug it's power cord completely from the wall or power strip. Now unplug all the other cables except for keyboard and mouse. Let it sit unplugged for a good minute or two to allow the internal capacitors to discharge and all power to drain away.
Now plug the power cord back in and restart the Mac. Now reattach the iPod and see if you see it again and it syncs ok now.

  • IPod Connection Status Failed

I have two ipod nanos, one of them is working fine, the other i have a problem with. Using iTunes version 7, i run the iPod Diagnostic test found in the help menu. After running it, it says that the iPod connection status has failed. It gives me a link for the solution.
(http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716) None of the solutions worked.
When i run the test for my other ipod, using the same cable and everything, there are no problems. It seems as though the defect is the iPod itself, i can't restore it because iTunes doesn't recognize it when i plug it in.
    Windows XP

I had the same problem and discovered that it was caused by iPod Services hanging. Here's what solved it for me:
Right-click My Computer and click Manage to open Computer Management.
In left side, double-click Services and Applications, then double-click Services.
Double-click iPod Service in the right-hand panel.
Under the General tab, click the Stop button and leave the iPod Service Properties window open.
Connect the iPod - it should start reading "Do Not Disconnect". If it doesn't, wait until it shows up in My Computer, then click Start in the iPod Service Properties window.
(By the way, I found this solution at Zolved.com.)

  • Solution to my Ipod connection?!

With humble request, can anyone please help me in finding my Ipod driver. The model no. is A1137. The main problem with my Ipod is that I cannot copy/download any song from my pc(Windows Vista). I have iTtunes but it could not find my Ipod connection. Apart from this, the Ipod is working well. I would be grateful If any one could give me the solution. Cheers

I am assuming you are using a Lightning adapter to work with the iPhone. Check with the manufacturer and see it their device is compatible with that adapter or if they plan on releasing a Lightning cable for their unit.

  • How do I select which bluetooth speakers to play out of? My iPod connects to both kitchen and living room speakers. My old iPod had a selection icon on the now playing screen, but my new one doesn't.

    Hi,
    Our setup
A new iPod Touch 5 with iOS 8.3.
Living room speakers that use a Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter.
Kitchen speakers that use an AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver.
The iPod connects to both but always wants to play to the kitchen. To play in the living room, we have to unplug the power to the kitchen speakers. Bluetooth settings screen doesn't let you select between Bluetooth connections. All I seem to be able to do is forget the connection.
We also have an old iPod Touch (not sure of the generation, but it has iOS 6.1.6). On that one, there is a little icon on the now playing screen that would open a little pull-down menu to let you select which Bluetooth connection to use for playing audio.
I don't see the "select output" icon on the new now playing screen
    Jimmy
PS the iPod seems very aggressive in connecting. I hear the living room speakers activate when my wife gets out of the car in the driveway. Then as she comes into the living room, the sound switches to the kitchen.

Thanks, this was the clue I needed to figure it out.
From Settings you can pull up Control Center.
In Control Center you can enable "Access from within Apps" (also "Access from Lockscreen")
Now when I'm playing music, I can swipe up from the bottom and a little control center window slides up. Neat - this is new since my old iPod. On this window, the name of the current Bluetooth connection appears. Tap on that, and a list of connected Bluetooth items appears. I just tap on the one I want to connect to and I am now playing through the speakers I want.

And it recognizes the ipod when trying to go play music or videos make me the following error:

I've uninstalled all apple applications and re-installing, as I formatted the ipod and continues to set the same error.

The circuit of my macbook is dead yet the hard drive is fine.  I need to access a file from the hard drive, how can i do this? The mac turns on the screen freezes as bright blue.  Is there a cable i can connect to another mac that will let me transfer the file?

There is another option if the Macbook will start up in Target Disk Mode.
Restart the computer while holding down the T key. If you see the firewire symbol moving around on the screen you can connect this one to another one in TDM. You will need a suitable cable to connect the two Macs.
