CableCARDs wiped out - Channels 550 and higher...

I think there might have been an update or something last night (3/23)... I know at least one of my STBs reset. The morning I noticed that the CableCARD in my TiVO box now doesn't see any channels from 550 on up. This happened a couple of years ago - all CableCARD customers ended up without service for several weeks. Tried calling support but it was busy. Anyone else having this issue? This is in the Western New York region.

Almost exactly the same issue with the DVR7216 STB but the non-DVR STB is fine. At various points in the diagnostics process I lost various channels, and sometimes everything above 526. Just finished swapping in the new STB they shipped which works okay. I'm suspicious there was an update that hosed the cablecard but there's really no way to know. The tech on the phone didn't seem surprised and jumped quickly to the "we'll ship a new box" solution. Effective but losing all the settings and everything recorded on the DVR and external storage is more than a little annoying. Dick

Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
Type "move itunes library from pc to mac" or similar into the google search bar.

Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. My MacBook Air was overfull due to an Address book issue (duplication) so after many attempts to clear space, I ended up wiping out the system and reloading Lion. This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".
This did not work because the correct date was greyed out. Restore key was greyed out.

Assuming the music is sitting on your iPod, try Detune:

Just be careful that you don't allow the "empty" iTunes to wipe your ipod.

• . If I reset my computer thereby wipeing out firefox brower and then reinstall it later, will firtefox remember my bookmarks? I really do not want to loss my bookmarks. Thanksn

will firefox remember my bookmarks after i reset my computer to original factory settings, then reinstall firfox again?

Whatever you are doing I recommend you manually back up your bookmarks. It may then make sense to keep such bookmarks on removable media, or maybe somewhere else: another computer, or even as an attachment to an email.
* see [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]]
Trying to answer your question
that possibly depends on what you have in mind when saying
''"If I reset my computer thereby wipeing out firefox brower and then reinstall it later"''
If you restore the computer to the state it was in when bought, you will loose your bookmarks; and I imagine an awful lot of other things will also disappear; whilst all sorts of annoying freebies will probably come back.
If you ordinarily '''reinstall''' Firefox, but do NOT use the delete personal settings (or however it is worded) option, then Firefox will attempt to retain your bookmarks

• Why when updating the software on my iPad it wiped out my calendar and all my contacts? Discouraged for sure.

Why when updating the software on my iPad 2 ( as I was encouraged on iTunes) it wiped out my calendar and contacts list. All is gone that I spent hours putting them in the iPad.

I am new with the iPad. I opened iTunes hooked the cable up to sync and it asked me if I wanted to update the software. Not knowing any better I said yes. So when it was done, well all my information was gone, wiped out. So do I have to enter the information all over again. This never happened with my windows based computers. Help please.

My daughter just synched her new iphone with her itunes account and it wiped out her contacts and pictures. Is there any way to recover them?

Sorry, unless she backup up the new phone before or is using iCloud to save the photos, the photos are gone.

• HT4528 i have a verizon iphone 3G; apple recently upgraded the operating system. PROBLEM: calendar has wiped out all entries and i am unable to add new entries. Help!

have verizon iphone 3g; recent upgrade of operating system. suddenly calendar has wiped out all entries and am unable to add new ones.

Please define "tried to add the Image"?
OS Installer Packages do not point to "images". They point to the complete set of source files including the directory structure from the media.
Is there a specific reason you are using OS Installer packages though? In general, there is no reason to use them anymore (unless you are actually still deploying XP).

• ITunes update wiped out my music and apps. When I got everything back, now it won't sync. It says I don't have enough space on iPod. I have more than enough.

I Updated itunes and it wiped out all of my music and apps. I had over 4500 songs and had to reload. Some from backup, some from cd's. Now when I try to sync my IPods and IPad, it says I don't have enough space to sync. I know I do because I have less now than when I would sync before all of the nice update.

Depending on how you recovered the library iTunes may see the restored files as "new" content and not match them properly with what is already on the device. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash for the way I would normally approach the issue. You may need to manually backup and then restore the device in order to fix things.

• Updated OS wiped out my Calendar and Contacts!

I downloaded the OS Version 2.1.0.1032 and my Calendar and Contact information is wiped out!!!! Hours of input gone. Now what? Is there anyway to get it back? Why did this happen?
Also now that it's gone, how should I have backed it up? The Desktop doesn't give me an Organizer tab to click on- even though the onscreen help menu says it should. Is that just for the phones?
Becoming a bit dissalutioned.
Thanks for any help out there.

If these entries were on the local contacts and calendar as opposed to being sync'd over the air then unless you made a backup of your tablet using the backup features of desktop manager (not sync'd with a local PIM application as this is not available with the playbook) then I don't believe there is any way to recover them

• Contacts Completely Wiped Out -- on iPhone and Computer!

My contacts have been completely deleted and I do not know how or why. I have my iPhone sent for Push synchronization and today I went to look up a contact and they are all gone. They are also all gone on my MacBook Pro. I haven't checked my Mac Pro to see if they are there, but since they were all set to sync, I assume they are gone. What could have happened and how do I get them back? Thanks.

I thought I did them on itunes but they are not showing up there either. I wasn't on icloud prior to the update. I tried a restore through itunes and that didn't work. Have been going through the boards trying to find a solution but most answers are to the ios 5 update and are not working for me. I'm beginning to think that I am going to have to do them manually. I don't understand why it wiped out my regular contacts but not the facebook ones.

• ITunes wiped out all music and playlists

This is a real problem as many of what I have loaded are teaching lectures and the titles were added at the ITunes level. What is on my hard drive are numbers that have no coorelation to the lecture title.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.
