Cables for TV use
I have a MacBook Pro laptop. Sometimes we would like to watch what is projected from the computer to the TV screen. For this purpose, we were give an apple adapter for the computer plus a video cable. (Matrix 2 Ultralink) When we use this we get video on the TV, but still get audio from the computer. To get audio through the TV sound system, do we need to get an additional 'audio' cable? Is there a single cable we could for both audio and video that we could purchase? If so, what do we ask for?
Also, it is a pain to access connections at the back of the TV. `Any suggestions to make this easier - not having to be repeated each time. e.g. Can cords or an adapter of some kind be left on the back of the TV for easier access?

Yes, this is exactly what I do. I ordered some very long HDMI and audio cables (like 12 feet) cheaply from monoprice.com, I leave the cables plugged into the back of the big TV, and leave the other ends unattached under the console that the TV's on. When I want to plug in my MacBook Pro, I grab those cables and reel them out to the sofa or table, works great.
Later I bought a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so I can plug the MacBook Pro into the TV, close the lid, leave the laptop by the TV, and use the wireless keyboard and mouse from across the room while seeing the video and audio on the TV. If you go this route, you won't need the very long cables, though buying a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be a bit of an investment.

My internet company recently changed my modem and I'm not longer able to use my printer, which ran wirelessly. From what I've been able to find out I apparently need a USB cable and I don't have one that fits the printer. Is there another way around this. I have tried the following loopback cable:

but interface was not up .Pls suggest if any other option.
This interface is fine. this is just for testing purpose to create loop back cable for future use.

Hello Deep,
If you are handy with building ethernet cables, the simple explanation is;
1. Redirect Pin 1 to Pin 3 and Pin 2 to Pin 6.
2. Make sure you create tight twists to account for signal interference at such a short length.

I bought a new iMac today. I'm using migration assistant to move all my software, but the time just keeps getting longer. It says connect an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer. I did, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Using the Composite/Component AV cable for slideshows

Hi,
I plan to use the Composite or Component AV cable for slideshows in the Photo app. There is a setting (TV Out) for Videos in Settings, I will set it to PAL when I run the slideshows in Asia later this week.
Question: Once set, will this setting under Videos apply to the Photo app for slideshows as well, or this setting is only good for videos?

Which FW cable for Transfer and Future use?

Will be starting up a new imac 21.5" Intel i3 soon and have been advised to purchase a 400 - 800 FW cable for the Setup Assistant transfer.
I have multiple older devices currently, a mini DV movie camera, a Pentax digital camera, iPod, etc, some of which use FW and some use USB 2.0.
Should I buy a 800 - 800 cable to keep for these devices that use FW
(movie camera) and a 400 to 800 adapter for the single use of transferring rather than a 400 - 800 cable?
Am I overthinking this? Just want to buy the right piece the first time and not have to make two separate cable purchases ( 400-800 and 800-800 ) instead of a cable and an adapter which should be less expensive?So this isn't a 400mbs Firewire unit? The info in the pulldown under the Apple "About This Mac" pretty much said it was?
Do you have a port that looks like this, if so it's FW 400.

Am I the only one that has had every charging cable (for all of my iPhones and all of my iPads) fail? Very frustrating. I got used to quality products from Apple but seems the small stuff is being overlooked nowadays!
I have yet to have a cable for my iPad 3, iPad 4 or iPhone 5 fail. I have multiple cables for each device without any failures.
