CAC for MAC, webmail access

Similar to many folks, I'm having lot's of trouble getting my CAC to work on MAC and to get NMCI working. Support from anyone would be appreciated.
Summary of my situation:
1) OS X 10.4.11
2) Card reader CSR3310 (_I can see the certificates in keychain_)
3) I did not not update firmware for CAC reader, since CSR3310 has it already
4) I ran the pcsctest. The results were:
MUSCLE PC/SC Lite Test Program
Testing SCardEstablishContext : Command successful.
Testing SCardGetStatusChange
Please insert a working reader : Command successful.
Testing SCardListReaders : Command successful.
Reader 01: CCID Smart Card Reader 0 0

Waiting for card insertion : Command successful.
Testing SCardConnect : Command successful.
Testing SCardStatus : Command successful.
Current Reader Name : CCID Smart Card Reader 0 0
Current Reader State : 34
Current Reader Protocol : 0
Current Reader ATR Size : 12
Current Reader ATR Value : 3B 7D 96 00 00 80 31 80 65 B0 83 11 13 AC 83 00 90 00
Testing SCardDisconnect : Command successful.
Testing SCardReleaseContext : Command successful.
PC/SC Test Completed Successfully !
5) Trying to a create ID preferences for each certificate. When I enter the url (https://webmail.east.nmci.navy.mil/), name, and a password --- and then hit add -- I get the following error: "An error has occurred to add an item to the current keychain. The specific item does not appear to be a valid keychain item."
I'M AT A POINT WERE I CAN'T INVEST MORE TIME ON THIS ... NEED HELP.
THANKS in advance, DP

I am having trouble getting mail from the shaw server that my new iMac is connected to. I have to reboot the system to get Outlook for Mac to access the system and obtain new messages. Any ideas? Its at the point where I have started using the PC again as its less trouble.......

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
See "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection"<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

  • Found a Fix for .Mac webmail

I just went to my .mac webmail on my computer, and moved the slider that separates the email messages from the body of the messages... that little horizontal bar.
I moved it so there was equal space for messages and text.
Apparently .Mac remembers these settings, because when I visit it now on my iPod and click on a message, I can see all of the text. It still does not open in a separate window.. but at least you can read email.
Sending email works fine too... you just can't use the autofill function when entering an email address.. or use address book (the link in webmail). You have to manually enter the email addresses.

I agree, and have posted as much elsewhere, but if Apple cared about users being able to do any sort of e-mail from the touch, then they would have included the mail application directly.

  • ITunes 8.2 for Mac: cannot access iTune

    Hi
    I need help. I am using a Mac OS X 10.5.7 with iTunes 8.2.
I connect to the internet using a wireless connection and i can connect to the internet using internet browser etc but when i try and connect to the iTunes store i cannot.
I have tried to fix this problem by:
a.) allowing all connections through the firewall
b.) allowing application access through keychain
    nothing works.
    Can someone help me?

    Lost 1985:
    You are not alone.
I have had the same problem since June 8t/09, after I downloaded iTunes 8.2 onto my MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.7.
I immediately posted my situation and titled it "*_iTunes 8(x) + OS 10.5.7 NOT Compatible??_*"...

It seems there are +a lot+ of unhappy peeps who downloaded iTunes 8.2 on their OS 10.5.7 Macs and are having all sorts of probs.
*I STRONGLY SUGGEST that we DIRECTLY LET APPLE KNOW by going to their iTUNES FEEDBACK PAGE and EMAILING THEM DIRECTLY -- and then RE-EMAILING them until they get the message, or um, messages.*

While it may have fixed itself for the previous user, it hasn't for me. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Sophos. Still won't let me turn on access scanning. • How to Format Toshiba Hard-Drive for Mac with Parallels?

    Hello,
I recently bought a Toshiba Hard-Drive with the following features:
    500GB
It is a Canivo Basics 3.0
It is USB 3.0 and 2.0 portable hard drive
It has already been formatted NTFS for Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8
The box says that it can be reformatted for Mac
I have a Macbook Pro with Retina Display that I bought this year in late March/early April.
It runs OS X Mavericks, and Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac.
I would like to reformat it so that I can use it on my laptop both with Windows and Mac OS at the same time. I do not wish to use a partition as I want to access the hard drive through Mac and Windows at the same time on my laptop and I also want to be able to access the Mac things on a Windows computer and vice versa.
I have never formatted a hard drive before, and I would like to use a completely safe software, or no software at all, if it is possible.
I am sorry but I don't have a very high knowledge of this.
    Thanks,
    Sandy-Wood

It would be easier, using Parallels, just to format the drive for "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". You can see it both in the Windows/Parallels and the Mac side. Leaving it formatted as NTFS is not going to allow you to access (write to) the drive unless you use third-party software. Formatting it for Mac lets you use it, as I said, on both the Parallels VM and the Mac side.
If you were using Boot Camp, I would advise leaving it formatted as NTFS and purchasing NTFS for Mac to access the drive on both OS's. You can mitigate that by formatting the drive for Mac:
    Good luck,

  • Public folders and outlook 2011 for Mac

    Hi
I can' find the clear answer for the following.  I appreciate your response
    1. Pure exchange 2013 with public folders.  Does outlook 2011 for MAC support public folders in this scenario
    2. exchange 2013 in coexistence with exchange 2010, 2007.  Does outlook 2011 for MAC support accessing the legacy public folders in this scenario?
    Thank you

How about these links?  They say that outlook 2011 does NOT support modern public folders in 2013 (Question 1)

  • Outlook 2010 for Mac cannot send.

I'm having a related, but slightly different problem: Just switched from a PC with Outlook to new iMac with core i5 and OS X (10.6.5) and Outlook 2010 for Mac to access my Verizon email. Incoming mail is 100% successful, but have been unable to send a single message. The Outlook error message says it cannot connect to Verizon's outgoing sever (outgoing.email.net), because it requires server authentication. All account setting are identical to instructions.
I have researched the Microsoft Outlook forums for server authentication issues and found primarily resolutions and recommendations to switch to various different port numbers. Tried all of these suggestions with no success. So am still looking for an assist. Is this the right thread to make that query? If not, can any of you direct me to the appropriate discussion group? Thank you!

    Hi RonMVR,
Which version of exchange do you use?

  • Remotedesktop connection for mac

    Hi there,
I frequently used RDV (Remote Desktop Connection for Mac) to access my old PC with Windows XP over my WLAN network and via cable over LAN from my mac book pro.
Now i bought a mac mini (latest) and installed Win7 with bootcamp. I need to access it remotely from my mac book pro so i tried Remote Desktop Connection. It works over my local WLAN network, BUT it dosn't work over LAN.
Which are the correct settings to use a LAN cable and the RDV that it works properly?
mac book pro with OSX ---- LAN cable ---- mac mini with win7 (bootcamp)
    Thanks for your help!
    Andy

Yeah I'm aware of this fact. It seems to me that you don't have that much experience with networks.
The IP address I mentioned was the IPv4, I set manually to 10.0.0.1 /255 255 255 0 on one computer, and to 10.0.0.2 on the other. The sub net has to be the same that they are able to to talk to each other.
I also found the error, then when i send a ping, the computers were connected. So my other guess was, that it could be a firewall problem, and indeed it was. I allowed the remote desktop for everyone in the firewall settings and now MS RDC is able to connect over LAN to the mac mini.

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

how do i access word for mac on my macbook air?

Purchase it.  Here's one link to an Amazon site to buy one of the many Office configurations:

You would receive Office on a CD, and need a disk drive for your MacBook Air to access so you could download the software.

  • Problems accessing info in Outlook for mac

    Hi,
I have used Outlook for Mac ever since I bought my first macbook pro and it has been fine, but since I upgraded to my macbook pro and migrated files across to the retina, upgraded to Mavericks etc, I don't seem to be able to access files that should ahve trnasferred across.  the file structure are there but when I try to open something, the folder looks empty.  Going into Get Info and I get "outlook can't open the file because it is 'not associated with the deafult identity'.
I know the first reaction of apple is - this is not an apple product so we don't help, but I think this is a cop out as in this modern world where we're trying to get stuff to work seamlessly, that shouldn't really make a difference and in any event Apple were happy to sell me Outlook when I bought the laptop.  I will be posing the same question in the microsoft community.  But does anyone else recognise this problem and have a solution in language that someone who isn't very techy can understand?

    reluctant apple wrote:

These are user to user forums, and I think if anyone can help they will, regardless of whether the product is made by Apple or not.  But as a practical matter, only a tiny % of the people reading your message here have any experience with outlook, while every person reading your message at the MS forum will have this:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoutlook
Also this is a hardware forum, and your problem is strictly software and is not related to the kind of Mac being used.  So a better place to ask would be

  • MS Access for Mac

I have a small business and I was thinking about converting over to Mac's for the office! We currently have a PC with XP set-up! But I had just finished putting an Access database together and really like the layout, I spent alot of time putting it together. I have an iMac at home but have yet to try to open the DB there. But I just noticed last night that I don't even have Access for Mac at home and I have looked at Mactopia and there isn't a listing for Access! So is there another way to open this DB? with another program?

NeoOffice does have a database component which is similar to Microsoft Access, however is is not compatible with Microsoft Access.
NeoOffice databases use a standard dbase file format, which offers limited database functionality. It will not open a MS Access database file.
This format is proprietary to Microsoft.
