Cache Cleaner for Treo 700WX

I am having an issue in getting to a web site that gives the message that it is enabling a
cache cleaner.
No matter how long the program runs, it will only stay on that page, it will not update or continue.
I have looked at the online tutorial for a cache cleaner, but cannot find one for the 700wx - I can only find the one for the temp files and cookies.
Please help!

Hello!
This "cache cleaner" sounds like a flash applet or java applet that is not compatible with mobile devices.  It is looking for the cache directory for a PC Internet Explorer when IE for mobile is different.  Not all web content out there will run on mobile devices.

I thought about reinstalling Tiger OSX, but hope you have ideas that will avoid such a long task.

  • WAAS syslog error: nscd: %WAAS-UNKNOWN-5-899999: 5317: Handled cache clean up for SIGHUP

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me what this syslog message relates to?  I'm seeing it on a whole lot of WAEs.  Is it something I need to worry about or not?
nscd: %WAAS-UNKNOWN-5-899999: 5317: Handled cache clean up for SIGHUP
    Thanks
    Claire

    Hi Claire,
Getting this message can be normal.
Since it is generated by the nscd process that takes care of the dns caching (and that is it generated when the cache is flushed), I would maybe verify the DNS config on those devices and if it is properly configured, I wouldn't worry about it.
If you want, the test self-diagnostic basic should test your DNS settings for you.

  • Treo 700wx freezes when tethered to pc for a modem

Well I couldn't wait until we got the EVDO now that we do my Treo keeps locking up when download speeds get over 20 or so kbs. I have to keep resetting it. I have even tried Pda Net to connect with it works great, but the Treo 700wx locks up still. This does not happen with just one PC. I repair computers so I know it is not the computer. Running Windows XP pro Sp3. Nobody can figure it out. I have posted to other forms and no replies. Alltel is sending me a new 700wx, but I would really like to find out if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks for any replies.

I have had this issue since day 1. I just set up a windows connection to dial out through one of my usb ports, and it seems when I view larger webpages it crashes. I had a virus program keep doing updates and it froze 10 times in an hour. I do remember reading somewhere that a cheap chipset was used for this model, thus causing the crashing (although I do not know for sure).

I just installed Treo 700wx Updated 1.24 udate to Mobile 6 and now the email software searches (looking for changes) through all of my 16,000 emails.
I did set to only download last 3 days in the mail setup screen but it searches through all 16,000 emails slowing down my Treo and using up battery. I could not find where I can set it to only search last 3 days for new email messages.

    Vibha,
Since your question is more dependent on the Messaging server, the "Messaging & Collaboration" section would be a better place to pose this question.
A simple way to analyse which IMAP command we are sending to the iMS - you can initiate a snoop capturing
the traffic between the Portal server and the iMS on the specific port (143 default for IMAP) during the desktop rendering.
To my knowledge iMS is fully IMAP 4 compliant and hence the RECENT flag implementation will be adherent to the RFC specifications.
You can perform the same check by logging into the iMS through command line.

  • Windows Mobile 6 for Palm Treo 700wx (Verizon)

I'm sorry if this is similar to other posts, but I didn't find any I was looking for specifically.
Up until Christmas Eve I had a Palm Treo 700wx from Verizon with WM5 on it update 1.22.  On Christmas Eve my phone pretty much became useless.  Verizon tech support could not resolve the problem so they sent me to a Verizon store to get a replacement.  This phone now has WM6 (I use this term loosely I'll explain later) update 1.24.
Ok, so great WM6 I think.  Need to learn new stuff some things are in different places and some stuff is just plain different and new GREAT!!!  Then while surfing the web to get myself knowledgeable in the ways of WM6 I start finding myself to become very very disappointed.  I find that most of the joys of WM6 are missing.  Yeah great I think where are they.  I see talk of a Task Manager that actually looks like the Windows XP Task Manager (I can't find this on my phone).  I hear talk of these neat things called plug-ins (anyone know where they are?)...  I hear this thing about My Desktop ummm is that supposed to have replaced the Today Screen, because I can't find that on my phone.  It seems to me that Palm has rolled out a bastardized version of WM5/WM6 and labeled it as WM6 this is quite disappointing.
Can anyone tell me how to get on my phone what is seen is this video link: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&vid=44589ab6-7674-4730-8fb0-ea730631fd77 this is supposed to be a video from Microsoft highlighting the features of WM6 with Microsoft engineers doing the highlighting.  But I can't find half of this stuff on my Palm phone.

Hello slvrmoontiger and welcome to the Palm forums.
The guys in the video are talking about Windows Mobile 6.1.  Your Treo 700wx now has Windows Mobile 6.0, the same as the Treo 750.  The featutes of Windows Mobile 6.1 are not available in the 6.0 Professional release.

  • Anyone have active download link for Tiger Cache Cleaner?

All links I find are either dead or download Leopard or Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner instead. Thanks.

I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • Trouble turning on the screen on my Treo 700wx (Verizon)

I have a situation that Verizon thinks is related to low memory availability on my Treo. I disagree. I have to hit the 'end call/power off' button repeatedly to get my screen to turn on. The backlight on the keyboard comes on fine and the screen shows signs of life sometimes, but most of the time I just get a black or dark gray screen (no today screen). Soft resets seem to do the job, but I sometimes have to do that 2 or 3 times.
I get phone calls but I can't see who is calling me since the screen never fully recovers from 'sleep'. I rely on this phone for work and it not only hinders my effectiveness and poses a risk while driving but it also makes me look unprofessional!
I have removed programs but still have the problem. Currently, my settings show 62.95 mb total space in storage on the phone, 36.59 mb in use, and 26.36 mb free. The total program memory is 57.45 mb, 15.22 mb in use, and 42.23 mb free. With all this space free, I just had the same problem and had to soft reset the phone to get it working again.
Please let me know if any of the following programs have a known issue with this phone, and should I remove any of them:
    Astraware Sudoku
    Palm Updinfo
    Palm PayldMatchdll
    Spb Backup
    TomTom Navigator
    Sync Client
    Astraware Cubis
These are still installed on the phone. Please assist with this MOST frustrating situation!!!!!
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

No, the issue was not resolved really. The only solution Verizon could finally offer was to replace the phone. I received a new Treo 700wx next day and shipped the one with problems back to them. That part of the process was very easy. I have not had a moment's trouble since then with the replacement and I run all the same applications I did before. In fact, I restored everything from a backup of the old phone to the new one. No problems. I still do not know what caused the original phone to malfunction, but I would be willing to bet it was related to the download/update I had to do shortly after I bought the phone. The phone's op system had to be upgraded from 1.20 (I think) to 1.22. The new phone came with 1.22 installed from Palm/Verizon, so it was clean from the start.
    Hope that helps!

It used to work fine, however recently it won't.  Using Palm Treo 700wx, Internet Explorer - I go to m.aol.com.  I put my username and password in.  It says 'locating' and then does nothing.  Screen stays the same.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try?  Verizon was no help.  It's driving me nuts!  Thanks in advance.

I would try clearing your cache and cookies in IE from menu, tools, options, select memory tab, delete files, on the security tab , choose to clear cookies. Try again to browes out to you AOL URL. You could also try a restart on the device using the following steps:
    Performing a soft reset
A soft reset is similar to restarting a

  • Treo 700WX DUN: Does NOT work in Leopard! Anyone have luck?

I have a Treo 700WX with Sprint. I can't connect with Bluetooth or USB. When I used Tiger I was able to make it work just fine.
Now with Leopard...It does NOT work. The modem disconnects during connection. I just can't get online plain and simple.
At first I was blaming my Treo. But I tested it out on my Vista Partition and it worked! So the problem lies within Leopard.
Apple did a lowsy job on the Networking features in Leopard thus far.
*Has anyone gotten Leopard to use DUN (Dialup Networking) with a cellular Device?*
Again I'm using a Treo 700 WX (Windows Mobile 5) with the 1.15 software installed. I've also tried to install USB Modem (by Mobile-Stream) which enables USB connectivity. It still does not work. Same errors.
I was camping in the middle of nowhere for 5 WHOLE DAYS with no Internet!!!!!!! hehe jk I was actually happy about that. Excuse not to work! :P But there may be a day when I need DUN.
I don't have the "Phone as Modem" through Sprint. However you don't need it on your plan for this phone.

    MikeyPD,
Sprint DUN is working just dandy for me, but I am using phone-as-modem, and with an A900M, not a Treo. You probably know more about the differences than I, but I would expect they both use the same protocols to connect (on both ends).
For me, it was a snap to set things up in Leopard. Actually easier than Tiger. Do you use a standard DUN connection, or must you use some other method for the Treo, running Windows Mobile?
Assuming it is standard DUN, let's go through the steps. First, is there any indication that the Treo is recognizing the connection as a request for DUN service (for example, my A900M clearly states that it is being used as a Data Modem)? Do you have the modem script set to dial #777? OK, here's the "Duh!!!" question: Do you have the modem script set to ignore the dial tone? If you do not have it set to "ignore," it will immediately fail every time.

  • How can I use my Treo 700wx thru Verizon to connect my laptop to the internet?

I've seen many people do this.  Do I need a special cord? • Cache Cleaner ruined my menu bar, no longer able to screen shot

not sure if anyone is familiar with this application "Yosemite Cache Cleaner". i just started using it. tried out the light scan and auto restored my computer then messed my top menu bar... well its off screen i can not see the time or the wifi icon it almost looks like the other half of the menu bar is on another screen by HDMI but in this case its not. i have nothing connected to this computer but my midi controller and a pre amp (always) anyways . i have dropbox and g-drive installed i can see those but any notification that pops up i can only see half of it. so of course i contacted this company immediately. i get a response back they are asking me to "screen shot my problem" so i try to screen shot and nothing happens, my screen flashes once and then the more i tried, the more screen flashed with an error sound. can anyone please help me solve this problem?

First, delete the fake "utility," which is a scam. Caches don't need to be "cleaned."
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • System cache cleaning - when is it safe, and when is not?

System cache cleaning is one of those so-called "maintenance" tasks that you may read about on the forums on Mac OS X guides that has mixed reviews, and typically is not necessary. In fact, when it is done at the wrong time, data corruption can lead to a situation where an erase and reinstall is necessary. I can't reproduce it easily, but I will say I've had it happen to at least three of my clients, so it is not as random as one would hope.
You've probably heard of browser cache, and that's safe to clean anytime you like. One thing you'll notice about when you do, is that some websites will load slower, and others will load faster depending on your internet connection, and the frequency those websites get updated.
System cache on the other hand which you'll find in ByHost and Cache folders in your Hard drive -> Library, System -> Library, Users -> yourname -> Library are a much more sensitive type of file. These will optimize the speed of frequently done operations on the operating system itself as well as specific applications which require those folders. When one of these files get corrupted, programs won't launch, will unexpectedly quit, will launch and close on their own, and in some cases Disk Utility won't function normally, or System Preference panels won't launch. To avoid these problems:
    1. Only do system cache cleaning after your data is completely backed up to your satisfaction, so that a system restore won't waste your time.
    2. Do it when no other applications are running, and there are no memory resident programs that may be affected by such cleaning in Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login or Startup Items. Check the Process or Activity Viewer applications for applications you might have installed.
    3. Do not allow the process to be interrupted until it is finished. If any power outage happens, you may be left with a corrupted cache file.
If you have a corrupted cache problem, attempt to isolate if it is happening just to one account by creating another account with Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Accounts with admin access and see if it impacts that account as well. Do the following depending on whether or not it does affect that account:
    1. If isolated to one user, go back to the user and delete that user's Library folder's cache files relating to system and Launchservices, and log out and log back in the user twice. If it disappears as a problem once, and reappears, something you are running is persistentantly corrupting that user's cache folder, and you may have to move all the non-corrupt files to the new user.
    2. If it is not isolated to the user go to the System and Library folders under the hard drive and see if the Launchservices files and System cache files are removed if the issue disappears on reboot, and if it does, does it reappear after a second reboot. If it reappears after a second reboot, then you have the scary prospect of an erase and install of your system.
Don't use automatic utilities to manage your system or user cache files. If anything only manually clean the cache when it is necessary and you have corrupted files. The cache is there to speed your system, and should otherwise not be touched.
