Cache Configuration Assistant
When I am configuring Cache Configuring Assistant I am getting the following error:
Connecting to Origin DataBase Failed>
Reason:ORA-12154:TBNS couldnot Resolve Service name.Can anyone help me out.
Hi ,The info what you have given is not enough.But according to my guess i think it might be Database base cache.The errorreflects when ever you try to connect to the specifed domain,please check your tnsnames.ora weather proper entry is there undr the alias ora_icache_icache

Cache Configuration Assistant goes on and on and on
Hi all,
I am installing Oracle 9ias 1022 on a windonw 2000 machine. The origin databas (8i 81701) is on a Linux box.
The installation seems to have stuck at the Cache Confoguration Assistant Progress Dialog window. Its been at 16% for the past two hours! Is that normal? can I cancel and continue?
Any pointers will be most welcome.
Keita.I have specifically not installed on Linux database, but the iCache configuration hanging at 16% is reported a couple of times which is mainly due to the pre-configuration required for database.
If you are not really keen on using database cache you can cancel it and go ahead.
If you want to use database cache, from the cmd prompt use
cmd> tnsping extproc_connection_data
and see if it returns ok.
If not that means you have not configured your database. Refer to preinstalltion steps in installation guide and then invoke the cache configuration assistant using the cmd

Cache Configuration Assistant Fails At 96%
I am currently experiencing problems with the 9iAS Cache Configuration Assistant.
The configuration assistant fails at 96% while updating the user list.
The assistant detail window reads:
Updating User List
Adding Users to the cache
Adding users to the cache failed
Reason: WTE-03501 Error updating list of users. Export failed on origin database.
OCI error - ORA-22288: file or LOB operation GETLENGTH failed.
The system cannot find the file specified

I have attempted to configure the cache several times having checked through the configuration guide for all pre-insatllation tasks, and each time it fails at 96%.
I have also attempted to update the user list within cache manager (DBA Studio) with no success and if I attempt to add tables to cache the error displayed reads WTE-03608 - error caching table dcctl.???? on cache webserver-cache. User dcctl does not exist in the cache.
Please Help!!!!

As per a couple of earlier threads almost related to this .. I have corrected my PATH, TMP, LD_LIBRARY_PATH env variables, but I repeatedly get stuck at this point.

I had similar problem and creating symbolic link and then giving suitable permission resolved the error.
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# ln -s /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0 /usr/lib/libdb.so.2
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# chmod 755 /usr/lib/libgdbm.so.2.0.0
[root@tmgeorge-idc db10g]# chmod 755 /usr/lib/libdb.so.2

Asokan SIs the software missing some .dll's? are you installing directly from dvd or from a software staging folder? Also start the installation from the server itself from the console rather than remote machine. And don't install the softawre over the network. Also refer to the following specific message that the log is pointing to.

Please Help - Cache Configuration
When using the cache configuration assistant, configuration fails at 96% with
the following message:

Database Configuration Assistant Failed
On Windows 2000 8iEE 8.1.7 9iAS EE 1.0.2.1 Same Machine
I'm facing a problem with Cache Database Configuration Assistant. By the time I was installing 9iAS EE, the Database Configuration Assistant show up and It get connected properly to the origin database but get stuck at 96% when trying to import user list. So the installation of CACHE Database failed.
Oracle Portal and others products get installed properly.
I tried again to reinstall the Cache Database using command line like :
wtacca -deinstall and then
wtacca -create - typical but still get stuck at 96%.
I will appreciate your comments on how to solve this problem.
Besides,once it get installed, Do I need to reconfigure another tool ? Like Portal, Form Reports Discover Services etc??

first of all, please install your 9ias in a different oracle_home. They both cannot share same oracle home.
During installation of 9ias, please re-configure your network configuration file i.e: tnsnames.ora to include your origin database services.
Then proceed with the installation...

My first issue was with the repository. Our database repository is set to nls_length_semantics='CHAR' and when you run the repository wizard, you have to set it to 'BYTE'

Symptoms
The problem is that when using the MOBILE SERVER 10.2.0.1.0
by doing the following :
- Install Mobile server 10.2.0.1.0
- start the Mobile Server
MGP fails with the following error :
ORA-942
- This happens with those versions :
mobile Server 10.2.0.1.0
- Therefore, the problem to solve is to be able to avoid this MGP error
Cause
nls_length_semantics is set to CHAR.
Oracle lite database supports ONLY BYTE semantics
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Stop Mobile Server
2. Drop user mobileadmin cascade;
3. alter system set nls_length_semantics='BYTE'
4. recreate the repository using repwizard
5. start Mobile Server
6. You should not get any issue...

OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant Error on Install
I'm installing iAS-903 on Red Hat 8.0. I managed to get through the linking parts OK but when I get to the Configuration Tools part at the end, I get an error with the OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant. Something about permissions.
Has anybody seen this? Did anybody get by it?
The relevant part of the error message is below.
Starting OC4J instance 'OC4J_Demos'..done.
Deploying application 'ojspdemos' to OC4J instance 'OC4J_Demos'...

I also received a linking error (ins_sql.mk link error I believe). I fixed the link problem by removing the -z defs from LD_SELF_CONTAINED and rerunning genclntsh script.
After installing 9ias, I can start oc4j_home and oc4j_demos without errors but I'm not sure if they are fully working. -

I am trying to install Oracle WebCenter 10.1.3.2.0 on Windows 2003 machine. I had installed a DB 10.2.0.1 to serve for the db for content DB repository.
I chose the Basic Installation type for webcenter suite. The installation is generally successful but the configuration assistant for content DB failed.

I have tried creating the table spaces according to the specifications given in oracle documentation, yet the installer complained about the table spaces not having free space left (specially, the WORK_IFS tables space). I also tried giving spaces on average 15MB more then the suggested space for their datafiles, and it still complained about the table space issue.
- When the configuration assistant fails, and you exit out of the Universal Installer, is there any option or way to just rerun the configuration assistant for content db again?
- I see on the EM for WebCenter Suite that all the other components seem to install properly and are up and running yet there is no mention of Content DB. Nor there is any option to try to reconfigure it.
- or do we have to uninstall the whole WCSuite, and/or the database 10201 too and then reinstall the software?
Can someone please help in finding a way forward?
