Cache Directory created automatically

Something strange has been happening recently. A folder on a second (RAID, Mirror) volume internal to my MacPro is automatically created:
/Volumes/Stuff/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.bootstamps/0410332A-EDA4-35A7-A78 9-0F018AAB205D
If I delete the folder it reappears a few seconds later. The process owner is root with a PID of 644 and "kextcache" pops in and out of top when the folder is created but I can't get a handle on WHICH kernel extension is doing this and why.
Google is no help and I can't find mention of this anywhere else in these forums.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Steve

Ummmm, if it was normal than it would happen on all Macs on all secondary drives. This is the first time I have ever seen something like this before. Additionally disk utility can't repair the disk as it can't be unmounted.
Also as time goes on shutdown takes longer and longer, it's now up to about 5 minutes.
It even happens in single user mode if I issue a reboot command after repairing drives and permissions with Applejack reboot returns an error message that it can't reboot as the disk in question is busy.
So something is going on here that should not be happening and I can't find the cause or the cure.

  • SSPU issue: Cache directory does not exist, and couldn't create a new downl

    I have installed SSPU and created an offer over there. When I run my offer it gives the error:
    Cache directory does not exist, and couldn't create a new download cache directory.
    Can anyone tell me the root cause and workaround for this issue?

    Hi
    Try deleting the "offer" directory from SSPU home and then delete the offer from Sub-Client . Restart client and then add the provider . Start pushing the content from SSPU and see if the issue still persists .

  • Clear Report cache directory

    Hi,
    We are running 12.0.4 EBS version. I want to clear the reports cache directory (/apps/oracle/PROD/inst/apps/PROD_glapp/logs/ora/10.1.2/reports/cache). It has large number of PDF and XML files. How can I delete them since 'rm' command is giving error 'Argument list too long'.
    Is same process for clearing reports cache can be used to clear the concurrent cache. It also has large number of out put and log files.
    Regards,
    Farhan Ali

    For concurrent manager, you should be running the job "Purge Concurrent Request and/or Manager Data Program " as described in "Concurrent Processing - Purge Concurrent Request and/or Manager Data Program (FNDCPPUR)" [ID 104282.1]
    For Reports cache, please review "Reports Cache Directory in Oracle E-Business R12 is Growing Rapidly" [ID 859255.1] as following this note should allow the files to be controlled automatically in future
    With regards to your specific question, the issue is with the "rm" command not being able to cope with the number of files. One easy way to deal with it, is to provide a shortened list to the rm command... for example
    rm a*.pdf
    rm b*.pdf
    rm z*.pdf
    You could automate this slightly, but I would be nervous to do so without testing, and it will surely be quicker to type the rm command multiple times than to write and test a script :)
    Hope this helps

  • Is there a way to set maximum cache size or to change default cache directory to sd card on Android?

    I'm low on space in my Android Phone and Firefox Cache is huge by my phone standards. I have to clear data after each time I use firefox. Firefox is great but I'm using it less and less, day by day. I browsed Internet for tips, but while I was able to set a cache directory on sd card using "about:config", it still writes on phones internal too. It seems it duplicated cache.
    Setting a different max size using "about:config" only works temporarily, because it seems Firefox returns to default after a while.
    Thank you.

    Hello.
    To help automatically clear up some cache from Firefox, click on each of the images from left to right. Now at least you won't have to constantly do it yourself.
    Also, to help you with your space issues, download Clean Master from the Google Play app Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard this app will clean up hidden cache and useless files on your phone, helping free up space.
    And as for why Firefox keeps reverting to the default cache in "about:config", I do not know. We are sorry for any inconveniences that this has caused you. But please try doing what was mentioned above to help with your issue.
    Hope this helps!

  • Mail constantly is synchronising with server and updating cache directory!

    Mail constantly is synchronising with server (sent messages) and updating cache directory making everything slow.
    I have a .mac account. I understand the concept of IMAP and that it information is stored on the server therefore it needs to update but surely not constantly and besides the blue bar sticks halfway through without completing. Please help.

    I have had the same issue. Rebuilding fixes it temporarily, but it comes back....Also have an issue where Mail will not download attachments automatically. They show up in grey until they are clicked...have Mail set to download all messages and their attachments, but it doesn't want to. Very frustrating. I have begun the switch to Entourage, which is unfortunate, as I like Mail more.

  • Cache directory structure

    I clear my Cache regularly (with EACH shutdown at minimum). I am aware of and use the Cache location setting "browser.cache.disk.parent_directory".
    Is there a setting to go back to the Cache directory structure of 3.6?
    I am not experiencing Cache access disk slowdown issues and I liked the single directory structure.

    No. That new structure was created to allow more and larger files to be cached and overcome the limitations of the cache that is used in older Firefox versions.

  • Premiere claims Media Cache directory was not found or is not writable.

    Premiere claims Media Cache directory was not found or is not writable. I then change the cache settings to an external drive then it crashes regardless of whether I open an existing file or create a new one. I've re-installed, deleted preferences etc. Often when it doesn't crash, it will say file was created in a newer version of Premiere Pro. Losing hair, please help?

    Okay! So, immediately after my last post, I solved the problem.
    I deleted the cache files in the default directory "C:\Users\"USERNAME"\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common"  then this stopped the crashing.
    There appears to have been updates via Creative Cloud so this must've caused dramas with the existing project files. So a fresh install + the deleting of the cache files, then the changed settings of Media cache locations seems to help.
    Thanks for those who tried to help!

  • Adf image cache directory

    Hi,
    I am using oracle ADF EA 14. I realized that when deploying my application, it created a cache directory under my adf/image directory. What is the cache directory for? Because sometimes the cache directory is not created
    and the page does not have the image rendered.
    Any information on this issue is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Antonio.

    Any suggestion on this issue?
    Thanks.

  • Help with writing to the JWS cache directory?

    We have a java application named "foo" that we would like to deploy via Webstart. The original version of foo is packaged into a single foo.jar archive. Foo creates a textfile "info.txt" outside of foo.jar. "Info.txt" stores information that we would like to remain constant for each client machine, which is why we are not wrapping this info inside foo.jar b/c "foo.jar" is overwritten each time a new version is available on the server.
    When running "java -jar foo.jar" outside of Webstart, foo works correctly and generates "info.txt" in the same directory where foo.jar is located. The current directory is determined by this code snippet--
    File infoFile = new File ( "info.txt");
    However, when we deploy "foo.jar" through Webstart, foo fails to work properly on the client machine b/c it is unable to write "info.txt" in the directory where "foo.jar" has been downloaded and cached. Note that we have signed foo.jar properly and it is allowed to write to the local filesystem. But instead of generating "info.txt" in the same location as "foo.jar", it creates "info.txt" on the client desktop causing problems with the running application.
    Can anyone tell us how to capture the client's cache directory location during Webstart download so that "info.txt" can be created and placed in that directory?

    you can find the path to the cache directory by getting a jar url to one of your resources in the cache:
    URL jarURL = this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("MyClass.class");
    String jarFileStr = jarURL.getFile();
    1.) first remove the "!/MyClass.class":
    jarFileStr = jarFileStr.substring(0, jarFileStr.length() - "!/MyClass.class".length());
    2.) then remove the jar://file: in front:
    if (jarFileStr.startsWith("jar://file:") { jarFileStr = jarFileStr.substr(11); }
    3.) may need to transform %20 to spaces, and forward slashes to File.seperator
    jarFileStr.replace("%20", " ");
    This gives me a string value of:
    file:C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/glyn/.javaws/cache/http/Dgwwinxp/P80/DMlive/DMjava/RMBBClient.jar
    When I try to do:
    File jarFile = new File(jarFileStr);
    JarFile jar = new JarFile(jarFile);
    I get java.util.zip.ZipException: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
    Has anyone got this method of getting the jar file to work?
    Thanks

    Glenn:
    the string - file:C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/glyn/... is not legal path.
    1.) first you need to strip off the "file:"
    2.) you need to change the '/' to '\' (on windows).
    use str.replaceAll("/", File.separator)

    Thanks for the reply.
    I changed the line to
    jarFileStr = jarFileStr.substring("file:".length(), jarFileStr.length() - "!/com/xxxx".length());
    File file = new File(jarFileStr);
    The System.out of file is
    C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\glyn\.javaws\cache\http\Dgwwinxp\P80\DMlive\DMjava\RMMyApp.jar but isExists() returns false on the file.
    I guess it doesn't like the %20 etc. because that it the path to the file alright..

    This works:
    jarFileStr = jarFileStr.substring("file:".length(), jarFileStr.length() - "!/com/xxxx".length());
    jarFileStr.replaceAll("%20", " ");
    File file = new File(jarFileStr);
    Not very pretty. But it will do me for now.
    Thanks for your help.

    I ran into this problem as well. The string is URL encoded (hence the %20=space).
    You could use URLDecoder.decode(jarFileStr) to get the same result (and not worry about any other encoded characters).

    In my project, I have few topics that contains the hyperlinks of approximately 10 topics. Now, I drag individual page from the TOC to the topic page to create automatic hyperlink. However, I want to select multiple pages in the TOC and drag them at once to create appropriate hyperlinks at once. This will save my time in creating various links.

  • Excise Invoice Not creating automatically

    Hello!
                      while doing Billing document using VLO1N,Excise invoice is not creating for a particular material. I checked Material Master for this particular item.I compared the Material Master for the item which is creating Excise Invoice automatically and the for the item Excise Invoice not creating automatically. Every thing is same for both the items but the excise invoice is creating automatically for one material and same Excise invoice is not creating automatically for another item.I don't know where is the exact problem is.could anyone tell me why the Excise Invoice is not creating for the particular item.
    -M.Suba

    Excise Invoice creation depends on Customizatoin of Excise group which is specific to Plant.
    Check Customization settings-
    IMG: Logistics General - Tax on Goods movements - INDIA - Basic Settings - Maintain Excise Group,
    select your excise group & choose details,
    You will observe, check box " Excise Invoice during Billing" in 'Outgoing Excise Invoice' section. This check box should be marked.
    Note: To create Billing documents - Tx :VF01 is used , not VL01N ( this is for Creating Outbound Delivery document)

  • Internal Order for AUC Asset not getting created Automatically

    As per SAP Standard , when I create an  AUC Internal Order (KO01), and save , AUC asset is gets created automatically ted via AS01 and stores the AUC Asset in Internal Order settlement rule.
    However when tried with the client Im not able to create, AUC is not getting automatically created and stored in Int Order Settlement rule.
    In config I have added investment profile to Ord Type  and in OAOA ( AUC Asset class setting , Investment profile is also checked)
    Kindly let me have your inputs to fix the issue
    Advance Thanks
    Sanjai

    Hi,
    In order to create AUC asset automatically by the system, you need to create an investment profile in OITA.
    Then assign this investment profile in the Internal order master data created through KO01 in the Investments tab.
    There is no option of assigning the Investment profile in the Order type.
    And in OAOA that is Asset class, select the radio button investment measure.
    You can default the Asset class of AUC in the investment profile or leave it blank so that same can be filled when system prompts for AUC creation.
    You cant see the AUC asset in the settlement rule once Investment order is created, but only after settlement of the balances to the AUC u can see.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravi Kumar
