  • What is cache seeding and cache purging

    hi all gurus
    i am getting confusion on cache seeding and cache purging
    wat is the difference between seeding and purging
    please can any one tel me bout it,
    i red some thing in ibot for cache seeding wat it does ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Seeding in simpler words means Filling/loading in according to the context.Where as Purging means removing or cleaning of data.
    For more information on both these you can go through these links

  • Cache Coordination and Cache Synchronization

    Can anybody tell me the difference between the two?

    In a nutshell: it can't be done.

  • Customized Cache Config and Coherence Override files not Overrided.

    Hi,
    I am doing an example on coherence and was wondering if anyone can help with a couple of questions.
    1. I am trying to override the coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml with my custom xmls. But when I start cache server from cache-server.cmd executable provided in bin folder of Coherence, it is not able to pick up the overrided files. How can I override both these files.
    2. In most of the examples a new executable file is made for cache server start and the custom coherence-cache-config.xml is specified in this. The examples runs perfectly fine but I'm not able to see the same cache elements available when I run cache-server and cache-client present in the bin folder of Coherence. How can I integrate both of them.
    3. When we use Coherence as a web service from server, are we suppose to use run cache-server.cmd for starting the cache server or make some custom file executable file made for cache server start.
    I know some of the questions may sound silly to you but I'm not still able to figure the answer to these question.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
    Yes you can use the property -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig =<file_name> for specifying the override file. No creating a jar is not a bottleneck and you can use either jar or system property in Production Environment. It completely depends on how your environment is setup and is for the flexibility pruposes? Use whichever is handy ...
    Ideally, you WS application should run in a seperate JVM than your Coherence Nodes. In this scenario, your WS application is set as storage-disabled and your Coherence nodes will be set as storage-enabled and both WS and Coherence Nodes will be part of the Coherence cluster. There will be no syncing between WS application and Coherence Nodes if you are using distributed cache; all the data requests from the WS application will be served by the Coherence Nodes. But, if you are using Near Cache then the data syncing will depend on the invalidation strategy used by you in your cache configuration. Read more about near-cache scheme here: http://wiki.tangosol.com/display/COH35UG/near-scheme.
    In WLS 10.3.4, there is a integration of Coherence and you can create Coherence Cluster from the Admin Console and define various Coherence cluster nodes and the documentation is here (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e16517/coh_wls.htm). But if you are using any other version of Weblogic or any other container then you cannot start from Weblogic but you need to start them seperately. Also, you need to make sure that the Coherence Nodes with storage-enabled are started before the storage-disabled nodes.
    Hope this helps!

  • What is a cache monitoring? and what it is used for?

    what is a cache monitoring? and what it is used for? how safe it is to execute the transaction RSRCACHE in development?
    Thank you,
    York

    Hi Les,
    Cache is a temporary storage for recently accessed data.
    Used to enhance query performance.
    Use t-code RSRT to view more on cache.
    Please see this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/41/b987eb1443534ba78a793f4beed9d5/content.htm
    Cache helps to improve query performance. As it can save data in memory, flatfile, cluster table or BLOB.
    You can remove cache per query or inactivate it for perticular info provider or inactivate it overall.
    But which is not recommended. Yes if u know that certain queries you dont use often and its not accessing large number of records then you can inactivate it for those queries. you can manage cache via three t-codes RSRT or RSRCACHE or SPRO>SAP Reference IMG>SAP Busines Wearhouse--> Reporting relevent setting -->General Reporting Setting in BEX -->Global Cache Setting.
    please follow the link which has few good documents on cache. which will clear your complete concept for cache.
    https://service.sap.com/bi -->Product information previous releases -->BI InfoIndex --> OLAP --> you will get bunch of documents in that.
    Look at the following threads :
    OLAP Cache
    what is cache?
    also check RSRT and OLAP cahce docs

  • How to read Group ID from Value Mapping Context in Cache Monitoring ?

    Hi friends,
        In RWB --> Cache Monitoring --> Integration Server (Java) -> (Search for Value Mapping Groups) in this each item is identified by Value Mapping Group (GroupID, Context, Identifier/Agency, Identifier/Scheme). Either we create Value Mapping Table in ID or replicate value mapping data directly from text file/SAP table etc., in run time cache, data will be identified in this manner.
        Now, our requirement is to delete a record the Cache for a particular context. Two operations provided by XI one is 'Delete' and another one is 'DeleteGroup'. When we use either of this, we should know GroupID. Suppose, I replicated some large amount of data from my text file in Runtime Cache. Value Mapping Table is like that IN --> India, US --> USA, AU --> Australia, EG --> Egypt. Now, I am required to write a program to get the input country code from user which is going to delete in the value mapping table like IN/AU....  For this, what logic we should follow in the program is, First we scan the value mapping table and find the record (country code)  which is match with the input. Then find the GUID value for this record. Now we use the DeleteGroup Operation and pass this GUID and then delete the record.
        So, in essence, how to read the GUID from value mapping context.
        Friends, Kindly help me to do this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jegatheeswaran P.

    Did you get the way to read group id?

  • Please recommend solutions for  Cache Connect and ?

    ---> Solution I
    2 servers create Cache Connect to RDBMS
    ---> Solution II
    1 server create Cache Connect to RDBMS and create active standby pair with another server

    Hi,
    If you only need READONLY caching in TimesTen and all updates will be made in Oracle then you have two main options:
    Multiple READONLY Caches
    For this you have one or more separate TimesTen caches each with a READONLY cache group defined against the oracle DBMS. Each cache can cache different tables/data or they can can cache the same tables/data as required.
    This architecture is very flexible (adding or removing TimesTen servers is very simple) and very scalable. It also provides very good HA; if one cache is down applications can just access a different cache.
    However, due to the asynchronous, time based nature of the refresh from Oracle to Timesten at any moment in times the data in all the caches may not be 100% consistent with each other or Oracle.
    By this I mean the following:
    - Assume that you have 2 (or more) READONLY caches caching the same data from Oracle, with an AUTOREFRESH interval of T1
    - At some time, T2, you update, in Oracle, one of the rows cached by the caches.
    - At some later time, T3, you query the updated row via both caches
    If (T3 - T2) < T1 then the values returned by your query may differ between the caches (depending on where exactly they are in the autorefresh interval when the update is done).
    Active/Standby pair using 2-SAFE replication with READONLY cache group and optional read-only subscribers
    With this architecture you define a TimesTen Active/Standby replicated pair using 2-safe replication and containing the READONLY cache group. 'Scale out' is accomplished in one of three ways:
    1. Adding further A/S pairs with a READONLY cache group
    2. Adding read-only subscriber datastores to the original A/S pair
    3. A mixture of (1) and (2)
    The main advantages of this architecture are as follows:
    1. When 2-Safe is used within the A/S pair, queries to either cache will always return consistent results (i.e. the consistency issue that I described for the first scenario does not exist in this configuration). However, threr can still be inconsitencies in results between the A/S pair and any readonly subscribers (since the replication to them is asynchronous) but given the high performance of TimesTen replication the latency between a change appearing at the A/S pair and the readonly subscribers will typically be a few ms rather than potentially several seconds for the multiple-cache scenario.
    2. The loading on the central Oracle DBMS arising from AuTOREFRESH processing is reduced compared to the multiple-cache scenario. The difference in loading between this solution and the multiple cache solution will be larger as more TT servers are deployed.
    It should be noted that the operational management of this solution is a little more complex than for the first scenario since the A/S pair must be monitored and a 'failover' trigerred if there is some fauilure within the pair.
    Hope that helps a little.
    Chris

  • Value Mapping Replication-Values not reflected in Cache Monitoring

    Hello
    I implemented Java proxy for populating values in Java cache. The call was successful also i could see successful messages in SXMB_MONI. also in message moniotring it says "JPR successfully processed the message".
    But when i am checking in cache monitoring i couldn't view the context that i populated through proxy.
    Do i need to refresh any of the cache or restart the server?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rajeev

    Hi Rajeev,
    Close the Integration Builder and RWB pages and open again with browser cache refresh. it works for me

  • KM Cache in Cache Monitor is not cleared using KM API

    Hi All,
    I am trying to clear the KM cache that is pre-configured in Cache Monitor using KM API. Below is the code I am using to clear the cache. It is not clearing the cache but creating the new cache with the name "KM_Cache1 (1)" and default properties set to peak load as 100%. But my requirement is to access the pre-configured cache and clear it then refresh it.
    import com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.service.cache.CacheServiceFactory;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.util.cache.CacheException;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.util.cache.ICache;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.util.cache.CacheFactory;
    try{
              Cache cache1 = CacheServiceFactory.getInstance().getCache("KM_Cache1");
              cache1.clearCache();
              cache1.refresh();
    Thanks in advance to help me on how to clear the cache in cache Monitor.

  • SXI_CACHE vs. RWB Cache Monitoring

    I'm familiar with the functionalities of transaction SXI_CACHE, as I've used it on a previous project. However, I have not used the Cache Monitoring function in the RWB, and was curious what the differences were. When would you prefer to use one over the other?
    I've reviewed the How To Handle Cache in XI30, but the only thing that was specified about RWB Cache Monitoring was that you would choose between Software Components and Mapping Programs. I am still unclear as to what else is available.
    Thanks in advance!

  • KM Cache and iView Cache - Pros and Cons

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me which Caching mechanism is better - KM Caching or iView Caching ?
    What are the Pros and Cons of KM Caching and iView Caching ? Which type of caching is recommended ?
    Any kind of help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Adren

    Hi Adren,
    As to my understanding, with Portal Cache, we can achieve the following:
    1. Significant improvement in the interface response time
    2. Unnecessary, additional page generation (re-rendering) is avoided when you call a portal page
    3. Web browser-like caching for server-based, dynamic pages in the Web (such as the BW Application Web)
    Cache monitor to monitor the current status of all active caches in your system landscape. The data displayed in the cache monitor can be used for evaluations
    KM cache might eb better than Iview cache.
    Please check the below links we might get soem info about the type of cache which is preferable.

  • Activity monitor file cache

    In activity monitor it shows that I have 16GB of physical memory, 12.77 GB used memory, 16GB virtual memory.
    It also shows App memory 1.9GB, FILE CACHE 9.56GB and wired memory 1.31GB.
    My question is in regards to file cache at 9.56GB.  What is file cache and why is it so high?  Does this mean I should install more memory?  I looked file cache up and I think it's memory that has been used but is not being used currently, it's waiting to be used again.  Not sure if that's right though, or what it really means.  Thanks for any help.
    Late 2013 27" iMac, 3.4 GHz i5
    16GB ram
    OSX 10.9.4

    Thank you, that helps.  I'm not super tech savvy, but this is what I took from that article.
    The app memory + wired memory + file cache = memory used.  So since the memory used includes file cache, I'm not really running out of memory as I thought I was.  The file cache is basically RAM on stand by in case it's needed by any app.  God, I hope I got that right!
    The memory pressure on my activity monitor shows green.

  • RWB Cache monitoring problem.....

    Hai,
    I have a problem in cache monitoring in Runtime workbench. Search criteria in cache monitoring is restricted to 2000 entries and not able to select the hit list manually.
    Is this is standard from SAP (restricted to 2000 entries) or can be changed according to the requirment.
    Thanks for your help.

    Dear Yoganand ,
        this question is out of curiosity . in our company we are using ECC  6.0 with ABAP engine alone . when i came across this thread i the "Runtime Workbench" was a very new word and hence i tried ti run the transaction SXI_CACHE given in the thread to knew what is that .
    i got a "XI runtime cache " screen with status of cache showing in RED .
    my doubt is that how is that XI feaurures are available with ABAP alone systems ?
    will this cache be active(green) if there would have been JAVA engine also ?
    please throw some idea on this , which would be of great use to us
