Cache remote e-mail images

How can you cache the remote images that are in e-mails so that you can view the e-mails when not connected to a wireless network? It is a gmail account I am trying to do this with. Thanks!

I have 16GB that it could potentially use to store 2k image files from e-mails, so I don't think storage on the local device would be a problem. It defeats the purpose to go through every e-mail save each individual image files prior to looking the e-mails.

  • Mail Image Cache

I am sending myself an html email with an image linked in it from constant contact. I then change the image on the server but mail is showing the old image. If I right click to download image I see that it is pulling the new image but mail is displaying the old "cached" image.
Any thoughts on how to stop this from happening. It is not helpful when having to proof html email blasts.
    Thanks

Ok, I found out how to do it, not sure if it will cause any other issues but you have to delete this file

  • Mail Downloading Junk Mail Images

I wrote Apple for product feedback, but I wanted to bring awareness to this group - so that other could experiment and complain as well.
I don't know about most people, but I find it completely unacceptable that junk mail images are showing up in my Spotlight searches. I came to discover this when I used the "Yesterday" Search For feature in the new Finder. To my surprise I was viewing thumbnails of several XXX interracial sex scenes. When I investigated where on Earth they came from -- it turns up they were in the Mail attachments folder. They came in and were saved to my hard disk from junk mail. It seems insecure (to me) to be accepting junk mail images and saving them to the hard disk. Not to mention the embarrassment if a college or someone saw that on my laptop!
I am not quite sure how it's happening ... because I know if you view a junk mail it gives you the option to load images, but somehow they're getting saved down nonetheless.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?

That only applies to remote images in emails.
If the images are included in the email as an attachment, then there's nothing to load.
There's no real problem here, except for the annoyance of spam images showing up in Spotlight.

  • EXIF data is stripped when e-mailing images out of iPhoto '09

I teach photography classes as well as exchange a lot of photos with friends. Prior to installing iPhoto '09, my e-mailed images contained most of the important exposure info - f/stop, shutter speed, ISO, etc. Being able to discuss my images with friends and students has always been a great learning tool when we both could see the EXIF info.
When receiving images from a student with a brand new iMac, I noticed none of her images contained the EXIF info and we could not figure out why.
Last month, I installed iPhoto '09.
I realized today that iPhoto '09 is stripping all of the shooting info when you select the images in iPhoto and then click the "Mail" button. I did figure out 2 workarounds:
    1. If you make your iPhoto and Mail windows fit on the screen at the same time and simply drag the images into a "New Message" window, the shooting info is retained.
    2. If you open the Photo Browser window from within the "New Message" window, select your images and drag them into the body of the message, the shooting info is retained. You may need to use the dropdown "Size" button at the bottom right if the images exceed the max file size.
I have a hard time believing some iPhoto programmer made a conscious decision to change the handling of EXIF info when e-mailing out of iPhoto '09 and feel this is a classic case of deleting functionality by accident with a new release.
I also fear that fixing this will be far down the list of iPhoto '09 fixes...
My workarounds are just that. They are much slower than running iPhoto full screen and launching Mail.
Any thoughts from the experience forum users?

    Bruce
I can confirm exactly what you say. Images that are emailed from within iPhoto have their basic Exif stripped. Images dragged to a Message Window from either the iPhoto Window or the Media browser in Mail have their Exif intact.

  • Lion Mail image persistence

I prefer not to automatically load images, to discourage spam.
So, when a message arrives, I click "Load Images", and they appear.
    All good, so far.
But as soon as I move away from that message, the images disappear again.
This has only been happening since I upgraded to Lion.
In previous versions of Mail, images would persist once loaded.
Not a major issue, but annoying, and I can't see that anyone else has reported it.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    thanks,
    Paul.
    iMac 2011

They are being sent to the All Mail folder.  The inbox is pretty much unaffected.
I don't want to hide the All Mail folder and forget about it.  I am after the messages gone forever.  Especially from the All Mail folder.
I'm the kind of person who uses email like sms.  I use it to contact people annd delete 95% of the messages after reading.  I don't want them archived.  I don't want them stored in the All Mail folder.  I want them totally gone.
And yes it seems Mail is downloading all my messages over and over.  So my question is how to stop the messages being stored/archived and to instead be totally deleted.
In the gmail settings I found:
Auto-Expunge off - Wait for the client to update the server.
When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:  Immediately delete the message forever.  Instead of archiving it like I had set before.  I'm not 100% sure if that'll fix the issue I am having.  I'm sure you'll be able to tell me if I am on the right track.
And thanks for the quick reply.

  • Turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac?

Hi..is it possible to turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac? At work I have outlook 2007. I setup Mail client to sync Mail, contacts and calendar. The cache is stored in the library hidden folders. Is it possible to permanently turn off caching?

I am getting more and more bewildered.  I just looked at google mails settings to see if they do something different from the isp I use and there they say the following: if the sent messages aren't stored on the server, then where are they stored? What happens to them if I set my preferences this way?  I want to wail and tear my hair out. I feel so very stupid.

  • How Can I Display Remote Mail Images

I set my iPhone 3G (iOS4) to NOT automatically load remote image as a means of preventing advertising to spammers that I exist. However, there are notes I receive that I would like to view the remote images - i.e. from my bank, broker and other subscribed to newsletters.
However, once I turn "automatically load remote images" to off, there seems to be no way to manually load remote images ad-hoc. Am I wrong or have I missed something in the manual? IF there is a way to manually display remote images, can someone tell me how?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    TIA

Sorry I know this is an old thread but thought I would let you know what I have found as I too have been trying to find this out and stumbled across some other threads.
Looks like this feature is missing and people have been on the case for a few years now! I found some old threads from early 2009, someone even got in contact with apple and the support team didn't know either. So in short even though the manual does indeed say that you can load remote images manually when you have the load remote images setting to off, it looks like we still can't. I am using iOS 4.2.1 and still can't find anywhere where we could load them manually.
So I found in another thread someone said to send in feedback forms to apple using this link:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
I thought this might be a good idea?

  • In BCS HTML mail images are broken

    HI experts,
I'm using the BCS calls to send out nice looking HTML which also includes one logo.
Internally, in our LAN, the mails are looking quite nice and the image/logo is displayed correctly (MS Outlook)
When external users using Lotus Notes try to open such an HTML mail, the image is attached correctly to the mail, but it isn't displayed, just a broken image picture. There's no chance to make the image visible inside the mail, they can just open the attached image itself, outside the mail context.
Question is now how can I reach that the image is displayed correctly? If this is not possible at all, how can realize that the Lotus Notes users get a "Show Images" link (security restriction - add sender to safe senders)???
Please find my current coding below, do I miss a parameter some where???
    Best regards, Steffen

I also had this problem with the Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql install.
I battled with this for a while, I manged to get the images displayed etc.. by adding the following directive in httpd.conf
    <Directory "/yourpath/Apache/Apache/apex/images/">
    allow from all
    </Directory>
Still playing around with it - perhaps I need to dig further/security rules etc..
    But at least its something.

  • Possible for non-Mac users to save and send iPhoto Mail images?

Will non-Mac users be able to download and save images sent from iPhoto via Mail? Of course they can see the images, but will they be able to save, send, and print them? Thanks.

The answer to the question is Yes, but...
A lot of people have problems because they don't understand their own email clients. The one way that is pretty much guaranteed to work is to send +only plain text emails+. It's the most basic form of email and it works.

  • Disk cache javascript functions and images

    Hi,
How can I force client browsers of my web application to cache the images and other javascript entities like css, functions, js files, etc.
By default it is not caching, though it should have. I have not written any code saying not to cache. Any help.
Environment : Tomcat server - java beans - jsp [struts framework]
In Netscape 7 if I say 'page view' it shows images and media files of my applications are not cached. Thats why application is really slow. If I compare this to some other web application which is fast, I see that media files, js files and images gets 'DISK CACHED'.]
Can anyone explain me what is disk cache and how to get it disk cached?
    Thanks,
    sunil

Thanks. I now understand whats the concept of disk cache.
But after lot of analysis also my problem still remains the same. Just that there are some patterns available.
I have some images in my own application. I also have some images which reference another site [application]. Interestingly all images which reside in my appication are not getting cached. All image which I refer into other site are getting cached. Can anyone makeout anything from this?
I looked into META tag generated for resulting htmls. But they dint have anything which says browser not to cache.
Can anyone list any java/jsp/html instructions which can tell browser not to cache stuff.
Or more importantly is there any setting or instruction or command which I can write in my java/jsp/html which can override any such setting done.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • Mail Image Compression vs. iPhoto Compression

When I attach jpegs directly in Mail.app, choosing the medium imagesize results in an image of 421KB.
When I choose the same image in iPhoto, click the E-Mail-Button and choose medium imagesize too, the resulting Image in Mail.app is only 122KB with no noticable quality loss.
Is there any way to influence the imagequality Mail.app so the results are the same?
    Thanks for any ideas,
    jan

I've had this experience too, with Tiger and Leopard. It's a serious problem -- the only way to get a reasonably small mail message is to use the "small" setting, which gives you 320 x 200 -- yuck! And it's still big. There should either be a quality slider or better yet just default to decent (70%?) compression. And the scaling problem is all over OS X -- resizing something in Preview or iPhoto for example. I think it's because they use Core Image and it's done in the video card, which can't do anything sophisticated.

  • Mail - image size popup menu missing

Using Mail 3.6, and the image size popup menu usually in the bottom right corner is missing. Any idea how to reactivate it?
    Thanks!
    YY

OK, have now experimented some more and it's a bit weird. If you open iPhoto, select the photo(s) you want to send and click on the email button to create the email from within iPhoto, the image size popup menu and message size indicators appear where they should at the bottom of the email window.
I then tried opening a new email message from within Mail (3.6) and using the Photo Browser to add the same photos to a test message. The image size popup menu and message size indicator appeared at the bottom of the email window again, but the image size menu could only affect the size of the last image in the message, no matter what was selected on the screen.
Perhaps that might help someone figure out what is going wrong.

  • Changing cached connections in mail

We are running iMap for our companies email. Each mail is opening up 5 connections, which means we have 75 concurrent connections to our providers server who only allows 50.
Once it goes over we start getting errors on some of the computers...
I would like to lower the number of cached connections each computers mail is opening so we are within the 50 connections to the server...
I believe mail doesn't have anything in settings which can do this... Is there any other way? Please help!

Option Click on the attachment and select Open With and choose the application you want to use.
Also with the attachment disembodied from the email, you can select it separately in Finder and open the Get Info to perform the same task and there you can select Change All, to the Mac application you prefer.
