Cache Sync with RCM using RMI

I am trying to do a cache synchronization between 2 nodes using RCM and RMITransportManager. The problem is my setup does not have a multicast server as mentioned in toplink documentation.
Can I do the cache synchronization using RMI ( through RCM) without a multicast server. I am using the Toplink 10.1.3 version.
Thanks
sk

Have you tried RMI, what error are you getting?
You could also try using JMS cache coordination.

if i sync with ipad using pc will i lose my photos in the ipad phot library?

You won't lose photos that you've taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites - those photos aren't affected by syncing.
If they are photos that were originally synced from a computer and this isn't the same computer, then you should be prompted as to whether you want them replacing - but there is a risk that they will be removed.

I solved my problem with new i phone not wanting to sync with i tunes on p.c. I was using a generic brand usb cable, and not the original one i recieved from apple.I swapped-out the no brand name usb for the original apple brand usb cable, and my I phone synced flawlessly,i'm so happy.the onle change i had to make to my info was my i phone needed to be checked as new,and not the original in the i tunes phone info./recognition starting stage of i tunes sync.it was all a result of generic usb,non apple brand usb cable, how simple,go figure....

  • Have 4S and when syncing with iTunes using WiFi I get waiting for change to be applied.  But this seems to never end.  I have waited for an hour and still getting message.

Have been attempting to sync my iPhone 4S with iTunes using WiFi.  It appears to complete the 5 or 6 syncs, but then waiting for change to be applied comes up and it never completes the sync.  Waiting for changes to be applied continues for every.

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.

  • Microsolft 2003 calendar not syncing with iphone (using itunes)

Basics: I have Win XP Pro, I use Microsoft 2003, I have an iphone 3G, and I sync my contacts, calendar, and notes using itunes 9.0.3. I don't use Outlook mail and don't sync using MS Exchange -- I just connect my iphone to the computer using a usb and sync with itunes.
Up until a week or two ago, I had no problems syncing. Now, while contacts and notes syncs fine, calendar does not sync at all (in either direction), even though itunes says it's "syncing calendar". I know this is not new (I see many posts about this), and I have scoured the discussion pages for advice already and tried everything I could. I looked at the following apple troubleshooting page and tried everything there: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692. Specifically, this is what I have already done and nothing has worked:
    * I uninstalled the newest version of itunes (as well as quick time, bonjour, and the other software components that apple recommended I uninstall) and reinstalled 9.0.3
    * I uninstalled my Outlook 2003 and reinstalled
    * From itunes preferences, under devices, I "reset sync history" (and I have continued to do this before syncing after I try something new)
    * From itunes help, I ran "diagnostics" for "iphone sync tests" and no problems were noted. I have done this several times.
    * From within Outlook help, I ran "detect and repair" and no problems were noted
    * From within Outlook tools and advanced options, I clicked the "COM add-ins" button and removed 3rd party software
HOWEVER...the apple troubleshooting page referenced above suggested syncing content in a new user window, and that DID work! Moreover, when I copied my original Outlook.pst file to the new user account, the trouble starts again and no calendar syncing. And to continue the test, when I remove the original Outlook.pst and put back the new Outlook.pst file in the new user window, it works again. And for the final test, when I copy the new user Outlook.pst file to my main/real user account, the sync works perfectly. All this indicates the original Outlook.pst file is corrupted.
HOWEVER, Apple offers NO advice as to what to do next. The following is quoted from their troubleshooting page:
"Once you are logged into the new user account, create a few test contacts and/or calendar events in your compatible application of choice and attempt to sync that data to your iPhone or iPod touch. Does this newly created data sync properly? If so, you likely have an issue with your content in the original user which you will need to isolate."
Sooooo...what to do now? How do I "isolate" the problem any further?
Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

After fiddling a little more, the following fixed my corrupted outlook.pst file:
    1) I made a backup
    2) In outlook under file, I exported the calendar to excel
    3) In outlook under file, I imported the calendar back to outlook
    And voila, it worked.

  • Cannot get iPod to sync with iTunes using Windows 8 Laptop!

I have been trying to get my iPod classic to sync up with iTunes using my Windows 8 Laptop all night!  I tried restoring the iPod, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, disconnecting my iPod to restart my laptop then plugging back in.  I also ran iTunes Diagnostics and it says my iPod isn't connected yet it shows on the sidebar.  I also have automatic sync set up.  When I hit sync, it initializes then stops.  What am I doing wrong?  Is there some trick I am missing.  Also, my iPod won't charge unless it is syncing.  What's up with that?
Any help or advice would really be appreciated!
    Thank you in advance.

For the charging issue, some newer computers with USB 3.0 ports (especially laptops) seem to have a "feature" that saves energy by turning off full power to the port when the connected storage device is no longer mounted by the system.  An iPod is a storage device.  When iTunes syncs the iPod, iTunes mounts the iPod's dlsk.  So it gets full power on the port, and the battery charges.  When iTunes is done syncing, iTunes automatically unmounts the iPod's disk.  The system shuts off full power to the port, and the battery no longer charges.
To work around this problem, go to the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  There is a setting their for Enable disk use.  Check that box and Apply.  This setting keeps the iPod's disk mounted continuously, when the iPod is connected.  Therefore, the port should continue to receive full power, and the battery charges.  That's fine for now, but later on, you can go into the computer's Control Panel preferences to see if there is a setting that disables this "energy saver" feature, and keeps the USB ports at full power all the time, whether the storage device is mounted or not.  If that is possible, you can turn OFF Enable disk use for the iPod.
NOTE:  WIth disk use enabled, you need to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it safely from USB.  The Eject button is next to the iPod's name in iTunes (to the right).
Now, for your main question about setting up automatic syncing...  First, if the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  When connected, the iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.
Select the iPod in the sidebar.  To the right, its Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary.  Click on Music there, next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This setting enables automatic syncing.  If you want your entire iTunes music library on your iPod (and it fits), choose the option to sync Entire music library.  Then click Apply.  Going forward, any change you make to your iTunes music library syncs to the iPod automatically (at the next opportunity).

  • Audio not sync with video using photo booth since os moutain lion was installed

Since OS Moutain Lion was installed my photo booth no longer function well, audio is not sync with video, the sound delay is obvious with the video outut wha can I do to correct this?

I've seen that problem in several threads, both here and in the Mountain Lion forum. I tried to replicate the problem but was unable to do so... so it's not a problem effecting all Macs. Try posting here - in the Mountain Lion forum - and see what you get as a search. There's one specific "More Like This" to the right on this thread but there doesn't seem to have been a solution posted.
    Good luck,

try making a system restore point, then deleting them, and if you have trouble, try getting it back one way or another

  • Tried to sync with previously used computer/itunes and lost new photos

I just synced my Iphone 4 but used my old iphone's setting (already on my computer) Now I have lost my photos from my 4... I'm not sure how to restore to how it was before I tried syncing it with my computer...

    Sue,
I recommend an external drive to maintain your music.  All your purchases are held in iCloud...so redownloading should be easy.  Also, Home sharing is a great way to transfer to a new computer, but in the case of hard drive failure your options are limited.  Home sharing is specifically for transferring to another pc.  Good luck!

  • I cannot get my touch 4 to sync with itunes using w8.1

I am unable to sync my touch or ipad to itunes. I am using windows 8.1.  all software is current as far as up dates goes.  I don't know where to go from here.

If iTunes does not see the devices:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • JMS Cache Sync - is multicast used for

I wanted to verify whether or not the JMS clustering service was using mutlicast for initial discovery of other cache instances in the cluster environment or not.
    Thanks for any assistance.

    I found this on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_05/web.904/b10313/cache.htm
    Note:
When you select JMS as the transport mechanism in the clustering-service element, OracleAS TopLink ignores the discovery setting.
Does ignoring the discovery setting mean that it is not used?
    Thanks.
