Caching on DB level
Hi,
Our scenario is like one frequently accessed table which seldom changes is to be cached so that instead of retrieving the data from the filers each time a user requests for data it retrieves from cache for performance impprovement.
so instead of using folowing method
create table md_cube_64
storage (next . . . )
cache;
Alter table md_cube_64 cache;
what other methods are there for table caching?
is there any database level caching ?

1) Assigning table to keep pool
2) Using different table type (not heap table but for example index organized table, single table hash cluster) to reduce necessary i/o amount to get table data
3) if table data never changes and you are reusing table data much in the same session then reading them into a pl/sql collection structure in the first run and after that using that collection instead of querying actual table

Hello,
I have a question related to clearing the cache in a two level tab application structure. If you look at the examples application of Denes Kubicek, you see that he uses a two level tab structure. The horizontal bar below the header is level 1 and the left 'menu-bar' is level 2.
I've also tried to implement this, because I think it's a real nice way to offer a good navigation structure. But I haven't found a good way to clear the cache of a page that is opened when someone clicks on a 2nd tab-level. Anyone an idea? Maybe Denes himself can help me out?

JacobI think you are referring to standard tabs as second-level and parent tabs as first-level. I always think of them the other way round. Okay, what you need to do is create an application process that fires (by default, for every page view) conditional on the request being the tab name (T_ORDERS, for example). The process firing point must be On Submit - Before Computations and Validations. In this process you can determine the page being submitted with the standard tab using :APP_PAGE_ID and the name of the tab submitting the page, again, using :REQUEST. Then the process can call apex_util.clear_page_cache to do the cache-clearing you need.

Firefox caching on SWF files (Adobe Flash files) are not caching at browser level. But the same SWF Files are caching at other browsers like Google Chrome and IE.
But when i see the about:cache service information, I can see SWF Files are there in the disk cache device. When ever i hit the same page, the SWF files are downloaded from the server not from the browser, but the fetch count for that SWF file will get increase in disk cache device. So it's taking time to load the SWF files every time when i hit the page.

Proactive Caching for Cube process.

We need to implement proactive caching on one of our cubes in SQL Server 2012, we are able to do it at Partition level (Measures) when there data changes in tables, I am looking for option to implement Proactive Caching at Cube level every
night at particular time (12.00 A.M) irrespective of data change in the tables. We dont want to use SSIS Packages.

Proactive Caching is a feature in SSAS that allows you to specify when to process a measure group partition or dimension as the data in the relational data source changes.
Generally, to implement Proactive Caching for a cube, we develop an SSIS package that processes the dimensions and measure group partitions. And then execute the SSIS package periodically. As
Kieran said, why don't you want to use SSIS Packages in your scenario?

Caching of tcUtilityFactory and/or utility classes?
I was wondering if there were any guidelines or best practices around caching of the utility factory object (tcUtilityFactory) or utility class objects such as tcUserOperationsIntf.
Is there any downside to caching these objects? Is it even worth caching them for performance and/or memory usage improvements?

I have a component that needs to reference many fonts objects to print text in various styles. At the present time, I create a new Font instance every time I need to change the style of the text, but many of these Font instances are similar and have a short life.
Are the font peers cached (or even the Font instances as the class seems to be immutable) or do I need to implement my own cache to reduce object creation.

BI publisher report not refreshing when associated OBI EE report is changed
We have a dashboard that has an OBI report at the top, and a linked BI Publisher report underneath. The BI Publisher report is supposed to reflect a template version of the results in the OBI report.
On the initial load of the report, the two reports are synched and matching. However, when you change a prompt with a request variable for the OBI report, the BI publisher report either blanks out or shows the prior information which no longer matches. If I change defaults in the OBI EE report, resave, then reload, the BI Publisher always gets it right the first time, just never again after that.
Since all my research to this point led to a caching issue, here are the report properties that matter(?):

Make sure you keep the same name for both Parameter in the BIP report and Presentation Variable in BI.

Inconsistent data in reports while data populated when BI Publisher is up
Hi,
I am using an sql query in my report to populate data into it. The BI Publisher is up and running and then I viewed the report. It is displaying the data fine.
Now, I added/updated/deleted the data into corresponding tables. The BI Publisher is still up and running.
Now, when I try to view report the data getting displayed is not in consistent with the data in database. If I restart BI Publisher then the data is consistent with database.
Can any of you tell me what to do to avoid this? Am I missing any configuration here? Is there any kind of caching happening within BI Publisher which can be prevented?

there's a document cache at report level. Check if this is activated (which is as default). You'll find the checkbox Enable document cache at report level.

Error in gettnig logon data for Adapter Engine
Hi,
We have Http > XI > RFC Scenario. We are getting 401 unauthorized error in "CALL ADAPTER" section. From the trace its clear that the logon data for the adapter engine (there is no value for USER in trace) is not getting poulated. We fixed this issue last evening....i think by doing full cache refresh, but this problem propped up again today. Yesterday when this issue was fixed the USER has "PIISUSER" in the trace.
We haven't changed any config settings since yesterday so all the passwords and other config info is same. Not sure what's causing this issue. Below is the trace. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hello, i've been working with this issue for more than a week now. Have tried all the solutions on the net without any success.
Windows 7 home premium x64 is installed on the machine.
When trying to use any application using camera shows up a message, that webcam is used by another application. This pops up on Skype and Dell Webcamcentral. Ms Silverlight shows black screen, no message. The device is present under imaging devices in device manager. The driver installed is Microsoft 6/21/2006 ver. 6.1.7601.18208, status "device is working properly". Driver files: ksthunk.sys, usbvideo.sys and ctclsflt.sys after installing webcam central.
Here is what i tried:
1. Installing drivers from Dell.com in the correct order
2. Uninstalling webcam driver and letting windows install the driver from windows update.
3. Uninstalling windows driver and installing Quanta webcam driver before restart. Note, that in all 3 steps quanta driver never showed up in driver details in device manager.
4. Uninstalled skype.
4.Uninstalled all "usb root" in device manager, restarted, windows installed it's drivers, installed Dell_SX2210-Monitor_Webcam SW RC1.1_ R230103.
5. Uninstalled Webcamcentral, downloaded and installed ver 6.1 Skype.
6. Started windows in a clean boot state.
7. Installed process observer. Webcam is used only by skype, but skype gives "camera used by another app" error message.
8. Turned off laptop, removed ac power and battery, pressed power on button for 30 secs.
9. Tried to update driver through device manager - driver is up to date.
10. Reinstalled windows and installed chipset drivers + wireless drivers and let the windows update. Then installed all Dells drivers in the correct order.
11. Restored to the point before windows update and installed Dell drivers in the correct order.
12. Restored to the point after windows update again. Installed ms Silverlight, camera shows black screen. Room is light, tried a sheet of white paper close to the camera.
13. Tried different skype versions again, uninstalled skype.
14. Process observer shows that nothing uses webcam. Supportassist shows failure in webcam at all checkup stages. Supportassist suggests to turn of programs that might be using camera.
15. Tried all the steps before windows reinstall.
16. I gave up and ask for your help.

Start, control panel, device manager, Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign. Go to each USB Root Hub. right click on it, left click uninstall.
Restart your computer. When you login, the new hardware wizard will reinstall everything. Please be patient, it could take up to 2 minutes.
Try the webcam and see if it works.
If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

Issue with change of IP address in SOAP scenario
Hi All,
I have recently changed the IP address of my system and configured the new IP address in the SOAP configuration to point the latest one. But my SOAP adapter is still pointing to the old IP address(instead of new one). When a message is being processed by my SOAP adapter it prompts with an error :
"Delivery of the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to:
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Connection timed out:connect: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect."
After performing steps i.e., Restarting the SOAP adapter channel and Clearing the cache at OS level we were not able to get rid of the error. But when we did PI restart then the issue has been resolved and the SOAP adapter is pointing to the new IP address.
But the issue here is, we are not happy restarting the system restart for this. Instead, is there any way to resolve this DNS to new IP address by caching the IP address somewhere in PI.
Please post your comments regarding the issue and the steps to follow in solving the issue as soon as possible.

Could someone please guide me with a problem that I am having using the file adapter's ASMA?
I am trying to pick-up a file using the file adapter and then place the file in a different directory also using the file adapter. I have selected the Directory ASMA in both adapters. I am also keeping the same filename. This part is working fine.
I am using a UDF to specify the target directory. The UDF contains that following code:

The problem that I am experiencing is that the file is placed back into the source folder, thus causing a loop. It appears that the UDF is not changing the target directory.
