CAD upgrade 8.0 to 8.5

We're planning an upgrade from UCCX 8.0 to 8.5.  I've got the server upgrade pretty well documented, but I had a question about CAD.
Once the server is upgraded, and I re-run Desktop Admin, will the CAD/CSD clients auto-upgrade at next log-in? I know they will if you went from 8.5 to 8.5 SU4, but I wasn't sure about from 8.0 to 8.5 SU4.

If the ‘CAD automatic updates’ is set to ‘Yes’ in the postinstall.exe, of course CAD/CSD gets upgraded.

  • Upgrd UCCX- from 7.01 to 7.02- some agents cant get through CAD upgrade

A few days ago we upgrded our UCCX  and some agents can not upgrade the CAD or CSD.   Most of those that can't I had then completely uninstall all CAD and CSD on thier machine, then provided them with the new version .. most are successful with this method.
however I am having a few that are getting a pop up error that states :  License error has occurred, try agin in 5 minutes ...'  Then getting another window that states that the License Server is down'.
I checked the Services and all CCX services are running
I checked the Control Center  and the Status is  "In_Service"
We have not exceeded our number of configured agents and not exceeded out number of agents logged in.
    any suggestions ??

thanks, does either the restart of the Cisco Desktop License Manager  Service or the Directry Resync cause any disruption to calls or agents..... will anyone even know that this action was taken ?  (if so I have to wait until very late night or early morning ....

  • CAD Upgrade as part of UCCX Migration (8.0x to 10.61(1))

    Hi there everyone,
As part of the Migration from UCCX 8.0.x to UCCX 10.6(1) we will need to Upgrade CAD between the 8.0x version and the 10.6.x version.
Firstly, I understand that CAD is discontinued and we should go to Finesse, but we are planning this as Phase 2 step to minimise impact on Agent feel\Training etc until further decisions are made around CRM etc. So Phase 1 is mainly on UC Infrastructure update with minimal change to Agent (CAD in this case).
So, my question is....if all the necessary steps are in place to allow for Automated Updates:-
    Enable via Administration
    Ensure Elevated Privileges on PC
Ensure Supported OS, Browser, JRE (Java) etc.
Ensure Internet Explorer configured for “checks for newer pages”
And we are going to be keeping the same UCCX HA IP\Hostnames in NEW UCCX 10.6 Cluster, can the CAD\CSD clients be updated as part of the Automated Updates process?
Even if CAD versions are from different UCCX Versions, is this supported?
OR, do i need to perform the MSI Deployment to Upgrade?
Many thanks in advance for everyone's input.

Duration - From memory, the upgrade takes around 5 minutes per PC. The PC must reboot afterward. We do it during a planned maintenance window, between cutover and start of business next day.
As soon as the user starts CAD, CAD performs a standard version check (you can see it on the splash screen). It notifies that a newer version is available on the server and proceeds to upgrade.
There is no choice - the upgrade must proceed.
It really is no drama at all if local or domain admin privilege is held by the user who starts CAD 8. Do what Aaron suggested and have an IT support person(s) on-hand. You're much better planning this in a structured way after hours or in a low traffic period, rather than just letting users go for it as it will probably take less time overall to plan it rather than allow chaos to reign :-)

  • CAD Upgrade from 7.5.8 to 7.6.2

Hi all, hope everyone is well !!
I am running UCCE 7.5.8 with CAD 7.5.8 and I am having an issue with CAD running on Windows 7 where the agent/supervisor desktop sporadically hang or stop responding for a while. I understand CAD 7.5.8 is not supported on Windows 7 and that's most likely is the root cause. So I am looking into upgrading CAD to 7.6.2 and have a few questions.
I know on the CAD server end I'll need to perform a backup on the existing CAD server, uninstall CAD 7.5.8, install CAD 7.6 then restore from backup. Do I have to uninstall the CAD 7.5.8 on the client side then install CAD 7.6 ?
Is there any compatibility issue with UCCE 7.5.8 ?
Any gotches that I need to be aware for this upgrade ?
Thanks all in advance !! I appreciate any inputs / suggestions !!
    Danny

    Danny,
CAD 7.5.8 will need to be uninstalled from your client computers. You can do this manually or if your environment uses SCCM or similar, you can create an uninstall package that would uninstall CAD 7.5.8 without leaving your seat. Since CAD is packaged with MSI files, you can create an install package that can be pushed via SCCM or similar. If you do decide to go down this route, make sure that the CAD services on the client PC are closed. What I would do is logoff people off their computer or even force reboot them to make sure you're starting fresh.
It all depends on what system management program you have. If you're not using any kind of system management, then I hope you get over time pay :)

  • CAD Update (8.5). Can we "run as" for administrator rights

    Hello -
Tonight we are upgrading from UCCX 8.5 SU1 to 8.5 SU2 which will prompt a CAD upgrade.  Our agents are not local administrators.  The last time we did this, we made those users in a security group that was a domain admin and it worked.  At that time, we had Windows XP.  Now with Windows 7, we are having issue pushing down that package with SMS.
Can we instead, log on as the CAD user and start the CAD (right click) with the "run as" and provide admin credentials?  Will it install correctly?
I need to know that this will work for sure, not just "it should".  I know that it should, but software installation can be tricky.
    Thanks in advance.
    /alan

    Aaron -
As this is the update, not a fresh install we won't be running the MSI (though good catch on the run as.  We "run as" the command prompt and install the MSI that way.
This should just be running the agent and it will check to see if there is an update.
After I posted this, I opened up a TAC case and the engineer set it up in the lab and it worked.
We have 10 agents to do between 7:00 and 7:30 tomorrow morning so I want this to go smoothly.
    Thanks again
    /alan

  • CRS 5 Supervisor,Admin logging problem

    Good day.
Today i've created CSQ and new agents for customer.
CAD launch on the first agent was fine,it asked me upgrade version of CAD,upgrade took few seconds, after that on the second Agent's PC i faced with logging issue.
    See attachment.
I see this error message on CAD,Supervisor and Admin launch.
    What can it be?
    Thanks.

    hello!
just to understand more, the problem appears when you try to upgrade the CAD, CDA and the CSD from the PC? am i correct?
if so, then the issue is related to a  communication failure (Proxy config most prbably) between the agent and  the UCCX, to workaround this problem (try at first with one of the  agents, and then run it on all)
    1- uninstall the CAD
2- download the exe file from the UCCX server. you can download it by sharing the following file:
    C:\Program Files\wfavvid\tomcat_appadmin\webapps\TUP\CAD
3- copy the CAD installer (cant remember the name of the folder, sorry) from there to the agent's PC, and then install it
    hope this solves your problem

  • Will switching to an ssd make MBP faster?

I have a mid 2009 MBP 3.06 6GB RAM, running 10.9. I run CAD software and i'm finding that it's lagging just enought to make it anoying. and i'm sure the next CAD upgrade may make it too slow. the memory pressure is only about 20%, will switching to an SSD make any real improvements in speed? or is it my video card and is there anything i can do about that? i will have to buy a new machine, but i can't afford to until next year, so i thought this might be an affordable option to get me through. i'm not looking for miracles here, just enough of a boost to make it more usable.

The effect on an SSD depends on how much your CAD program relies on fast disk access. You have done a smart thing by determining that RAM is not the bottleneck. You should also look at the CPU section of Activity Monitor and make sure CPU is not the bottleneck, by checking what % of CPU your CAD program uses. And look at the Disk section of Activity Monitor while your CAD program is running and observe how heavily the disk is used, compared to other applications like your web browser or word processor.
If you find that your CAD program involves heavy disk access while CPU or RAM are not stressed, then yes an SSD would help it. It would also help overall speed since the OS in general hits the disk regularly.
    Csound1 wrote:
Although an SSD will make your Mac faster in general, it will have little effect on video. You'd have to try it and see if it is worthwhile,
It is not clear why that comment was made since there was no reference to video applications in the original post. Even if it was, it would not necessarily be a true statement since most major video applications (FInal Cut, Premiere Pro, After Effects) are now taking extreme advantage of the video card GPU to accelerate playback and final rendering. But that doesn't apply to this question.
    wildernessbob:
or is it my video card and is there anything i can do about that?
As far as this question goes, you must check with the CAD software developer to see how much application performance is affected by your video card GPU. If it doesn't, it isn't a factor. If the CAD program does make heavy use of the GPU, unfortunately the video card of an Apple laptop can never be upgraded. The only way to upgrade an Apple laptop GPU is to buy a new Apple laptop.

  • CAD 7.5 Upgrade Question

Does anyone know if when upgrading CAD from 7.2 to 7.5(6) the client desktops are simply prompted that a "newer version is now available" and asked to update their desktop vs. having to push completely msi packages to the desktop?

Running ICM 7.5(8) with CTIOS 7.5(8), CAD 7.6(1) is the better version to go to?
Exactly. Fixes the 7.5(8) bug where Skill Number could not be displayed. Supports IE8.
With 7.6(1) I believe you still need to first apply CAD 7.5(1) correct?
    Also correct.

  • CAD 8.5 upgrade failure

    Dear Networker,
We have UCCE 8.0 installed. We have CAD 7.2 services installed (on both servers collocated with PGs). We are planning to upgrade CAD to 8.5
We followed the CAD 8.5 install Guide. We:
1- Installed SQL 2005 on the primary server with a new SQL Instance "CADDB"
2- Configured SQL params as described in the Install Guide
3- Installed CAD 8.5 Over the TOP, but while accessing the initial setup configurfation we face an visual studio error and we can't access that menu !
    Can you please advise ?

  • Upgrade CAD from 7.2 to 8.0

    Hello,
I have a customer whom i was upgrading his contact center from 7.5 to 8.0 , he has a seperated PG's from the loggers so there is no SQL server installed on the PG's , the CAD server 7.2 resides on the PG's , the upgrade to version 8.0 for the whole UCCE was successful , even the CAD but i got a strange behaviour on the CAD.
we configured ICM variables to be shown on the CAD desktop and there is a HTTP request on the agent browser , when i upgraded the CAD , i can see the variables but they are empty , i even tried to make the ICM variable 1 static value but it didn't appear , i tried using the CTIOS client , i can see the variables but not on the CAD and for the info , the CAD is fully functioning and even the synchronization is successful and i have access to the DB on the AW.
Any idea on what is happening , i beilive it is a SQL problem that i have to install SQL 2005 engine on the CAD server ???
    Thanks
    Amer

    Hello Denis,
Attached is the update fix, i also got the below from a friend who works in CISCO TAC , he found it on a case for this problem.
My problem is that i have to perform it fast and i don't have time to install it on our lab , i asked maybe you did it before , all the way , here is what i got :
This patch  still in Release-Pending  status, it’s not published yet in CCO. But there is a work around for this bug  using the attached patch. You just need to run this setup and reboot the PC  afterwards, if the variables becomes in reverse order then do the following:
    1.        Stop CAD Services on Side B
    2.        Stop ICM Services on Side A
    3.        Uninstall CAD patch on Side A and reboot
    4.        Modify the LDAP on Side A (Delete all the ICM Variables 1-10 under OU=Enterprise  Data)
    5.        Install CAD patch on Side A and reboot
    6.        Made test calls and found ICM Variables are shown on the CAD
    7.        Stop CAD Services on Side A
    8.        Uninstall patch on Side B and reboot
    9.        Modify LDAP on Side B (Delete all ICM Variables 1-10)
    10.       Install CAD patch on Side B and reboot
    11.       Made test calls and found ICM Variables are shown on the CAD

  • UCCX Upgrade wit CAD deployment task

    Hi All,
As we know that after we do the uccx upgrade, CAD also needs to be done.
The problem is I have around 300 agetns with CAD and doing a upgrade one-by-one is not a good idea.
is there anyway to do a batch deployment ?
    Thanks in advance,

Bear in mind that if you want to allow users to auto-upgrade, they must have administrative access to their PC; that's not usually the case.

  • Recording and Monitoring stopped working on some CAD and CSD in windows 7 after OS upgrade

    Hi All,
Some of our Agents and Supervisors have been migrated to Windows 7 workstations and they no longer appear to be able to use the recording or monitoring facilities.
We are currently using Call Manager System version: 7.1.5, and UCCX System version: 8.0.2
I found a document regarding this about NIC cards on those pcs as below, however this document is old and also its for windows xp
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/voicesw/custcosw/ps5693/ps14/prod_system_requirements0900aecd800e3149.pdf
Could someone please help on this
    Thanks

If you are using the Windows 7 64 bit version, CAD/CSD are not supported on that platform.  That is becuase the desktop based monitoring and recording are not supported in WoW64 mode, the drivers and associated software modifications are not present.  The customer would need to be at CCX 8.5.
(see the footnotes around 64 bit in the compatiblity matrix)

  • UCCX 7.0.1SR5 to 8.0 upgrade while also adding LDAP integration for CUCM - what happens to agents and Historical Reporting data?

    Current State:
    •    I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5.  Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only.  UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
    •    The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
    Goal:
    •    Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
    •    LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
    •    Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
    •    Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
    •    Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
    •    Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
    •    Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01.  Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case?  A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?

I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
    Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive.

  • Satellite A100-847 - upgrade advice

    Hello,
I'm using Satellite A100-847 (PSAA9E) for almost two years now. 2 year warranty period be over in month, so I guees it is good time for an upgrade. I could use more RAM and a faster HDD (for CAD purposes mostly when I'm on the run) so I would like to know more about it.
*What I already found out is that my notebook:*
(please say if I'm wrong with something)
    1) ...Can take 2 modules of So-DIMM DDR2; max 4GB; which means 2X2GB. I already have 2X512GB, and this is not enough.
    - The question is which DDR2 memory!? The FSB is running on 667 MHz, so I guess I should buy PC-5300/667 or even 6400/800?
    - Which is the best memory for my notebook? The one which doesn't heat up a lot!? Which model is cool enough?
    2) ...Has a Hitachi Travelstar 5K100, 2.5", 5400RPM, 8MB cache, 100GB SATA drive. Capacity is enough for me, but it is way too slow. So I guess I should for a 7200RPM 16MB cache drive.
    - The question here is does my notebook support SATA2 or is it just SATA1? Which shlould I buy?
    - Does my notebook support 7200RPM drive?
    - Will my notebook overheat with this drive?
    3) ...Could have a more efficient cooling system. Is there any solution to this?
    Thank you in advance,
    adambar

    Hello
Googling around Ive found follow information:
The computer has two SO DIMMs slot comes standard with DDRII 4200 module. It
supports PC2-4200 and uses SO DIMMs (DDRII SDRAM) driven at 1.8 V, accepting
BTO/CTO for your memory requirements. It can incorporate up to 4 GB of main
    memory.
Using the following sizes of memory modules:
    256 MB (16M168P)/533/667 MHZ
    512 MB (32M168P)/533/667 MHZ
    1024 MB (64Mx16x8P)/533/667 MHZ
If you want to use maximum RAM you must use two 2 GB. Toshiba recommends using
2 x 2 GB PA3513U-1M2G DDR2 RAM. Alternative to this RAM module are high quality Kingston memory modules.
About HDD I can say follow:
The HDD interface conforming to Serial ATA (for 40/60/80/100/120 GB).
The computer accommodates one 2.5-inch HDD with any of the following storage capacities:
    40 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm)
    60 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    80 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    100 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5,400rpm/7200rpm)
    120 GB (9.5 mm thick) SATA (5400rpm)
As far as I know SATA2 is backward compatible and theoretically you can use it but I am not sure about that. If I were you I would by SATA1 HDD.
As you can see Toshiba has tested 7200rpm HDDs with this notebook model and you can use it too.
Overheat maybe not but I can imagine that plastic cover will be warmer than before. Be just sure the notebook is placed properly and nothing blocks cooling fan.
More efficient cooling system? I dont know what you mean exactly butt you can try something like this .
