CAF based on SOA

hi Experts,
Im trying to understand the below sentence,in which
CAF is a framework to develop Composite Applications according to ESA.
I want to Know about SOA and ESA,not only their Business Perspective but also their Architecture.
Please guide me correct path where i can start to learn SOA Architecture(Techinical Perspective).
As well  i want to know about ESA , difference between SOA and ESA and ESA stuff related with CAF.
Please Provide the Documents or links or any related stuff.
Thanks & Regards

  • Do you think middleware or XIF adapter is based on SOA?

    Hi,
For current CRM 5.0 version, do you think middleware XIF adapter is based on SOA? Or classic tech.?
How about it in new CRM?

    Long,
Technically a lot of the so called SOA applications that are "hyped" still use ancient technologies beneath the surface, and only have a very shiny enterprise service layer or SOA layer on top.
Now is the design of XIF middleware an SOA design?  Probably by the strictest defintion the answer is no.  However if you look at the general design of CRM the application is more tailored to supporting the shiny interfaces of SOA than say some parts of ERP.
My favorite case in point is that in ECC 5.0/6.0 inbound vendor master creation via IDOC processingstill uses a BDC session to create the vendor.  In CRM BDC is not used anywhere, and the application is designed in a layered approach with several API layers that represent the logical layers.
The newer CRM releases have an enterprise services tool, that allows you create new services based on BOL objects.  However there is a lack of "predefined" scenarios in CRM.  You might consider this a drawback, however this allows for flexibility.  The other benefit is that because of the design of the CRM system, putting an new UI layer does not involve re-writing all layers of the application.
Is this what the SOA purists want, maybe not, but for the pratical side of the house, CRM provides us the flexibility needed to do what is necessary.  I see the adding of SOA shiny interface features as the added bonus.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Web service data control based on SOA flow

    Hello,
I have an ADF application developed with JDev 11.1.1.2.0. This application uses some web service data controls based on a SOA flow that receives a complex data type as an input parameter and also returns a collection of complex data type.
I have a page that has some comboboxes boundto the input parameters for the flow, a button that is bound to an operation exposed by the web service and a table binded to the return of the web service.
The problem is that when i press the button, multiple instances of the SOA web services are created.
Can you please help with this problem?
    Thanks,
    Daniela

    Daniela,
Are you executing the method programatically from bean? Can elaborate on what you mean by
The problem is that when i press the button, multiple instances of the SOA web services are created. Also, check out this blog on executing the method programatically by constructing the parameters to be passed.

  • How to use SOA Suite in conjunction with SOA Analysis and Design Tools

    Hi everybody,
I am a novice in this field and I need some help regarding integrating analysis and design tools with SOA Suite.
We used to analyze and design with Oracle Designer and use its powerful form generator to develop a system. It almost covered all the software lifecycle and kept the traceability between anlaysis, design and implementation.
I have studied about the SOA concepts and read some papaer about SOA Suite. I have also installed the SOA demo based on SOA Suite and I found it absolutely amazing, but my problem is that It seems oracle does not have any tools for SOA Analysis and Design. am I right? if so, How can we analyze and design a system based on SOA concepts and implement it using soa suite in such a way that keeps traceability? What tools is used for this purpose?
It seems that IBM have some tools like Rational Software Architect and Rational Suite which enable people to design and analyze based on SOA concepts and then generates some pieces of code (like oracle designer in old days) but is it possible to design in these tools and then generating codes for SOA Suite ? (for example generating a bpel file from a design model)
As I told before I am a novice in this field and I would be so grateful if other users can share their expriences regarding this matter.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navid

  • "Oracle BPM  Suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components

    Dear Friends,
I am very confusing about the "Oracle BPM suite 11g" and "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" and would like your help on explanation as the following :
I have learn that In order to use "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" require to have "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components to install first. Does it means that :
    1) When we buy "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , we automatically get the "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" components as well ?
    2) IS it correct that these " these Oracle SOA Suite 11g components" are included :
    (a) Oracle BAM
    (b) Oracle Business Rules
    (c) Oracle BPEL Manager
    (d) Oracle Service Bus
    (e) Oracle Complex Event Processing
    3) Do we have a right to use all of these components listed in (2) ?
    4) Then the answers in (3) is "YES", then Is it correct when the customer buy the "Oracle BPM Suite 11g" , they no need to buy "Oracle SOA 11g" any more when they would like to implements that applications based on SOA in the future (without using BPM) ?
    5) What IF , the customer would like to start with "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" product and decide to buy only Oracle SOA Suite 11g first ; then later on in the future they would like to implement BPM projects in the future. Can you upgrade "Oracle SOA Suite 11g" to include "Oracle BPM Sutie 11g" and pay only the price different ?
I hope you can help providing the answers to these questions. THank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards
    Pearapon S.

This is a question best answered by your Oracle reseller or Oracle account manager to give you all the details but I hope this brief answer helps:
    - The Unified Business Process Management Suite (BPM Suite 11g) includes: BPM Studio, BPM Composer, BPMN Service Engine and Workflow Extensions, BPM Process Spaces, and BPM Process Analytics.
    - BPM Suite 11g requires the licensing of SOA Suite 11g for Oracle Middleware which requires a license for WebLogic Suite.
    - You can license SOA Suite 11g now and license BPM Suite 11g later.
Since the products are layered, I don't see this cutting into SOA sales at all. My personal view is that BPM on top of SOA is brilliant since it provides easy integration between human and automated tasks, builds on many of the SOA concepts that are key for a successful BPM implementation (functional, not the Oracle product), and uses the same IDE. The synergies extend past easy use of services; the same business rules and human workflow components are used between both products.

  • SAP XI in SOA

    HI,
We have SAP R/3 4.7, SAP SRM4.0, SAP CRM4.0 and SAP BW-SEM4.0 in system landscape. The implementation is following SOA (Service Oriented Architecture).
    1. There is CRM middleware is available to integrate CRM with SAP R/3.
    2. SAP BW connector to talk with SAP R/3
    3. SAP SRM, SAP connector to integrate with SAP R/3.
As the above three options are not based on SOA. It is SAP proprietary adapter/connector.
Can we go ahead with SAP XI and adhere to SOA? What kind of advantages or problems could occur?
    Please comment ASAP
    Thanks & Regards,
    Himanshu

    Hi,
<i>1. There is CRM middleware is available to integrate CRM with SAP R/3.
    <b>CRM -> XI -> R/3</b>
    2. SAP BW connector to talk with SAP R/3
    <b>BW -> XI -> R/3</b>
    3. SAP SRM, SAP connector to integrate with SAP R/3.</i>
    <b>SRM -> XI -> R/3</b>
SAP is strongly recomending its customers to use XI for integrationingheterogeneous systems, instead of using point to point proprietery software. Its one system for all intergration solutions.
<i>Can we go ahead with SAP XI and adhere to SOA? What kind of advantages or problems could occur?</i>
There are standard cook books avalible on service.sap.com for the above scenarios using XI. Its a no brainer. In terms of advantages, there are a ton, less of effort, less on maintanence, one integration solution. the list goes on.

  • How to Trigger CAF web services from java Job schedulers?

    Hi Experts,
I am in need of calling CAF based web services from custom Job scheduler.
Could you please provide your idea and input if anyway we can call such web service by java api in custom jobs development?
Thing is that we have CAF BO which hold around 1 million record (master data) and based on approval scenario (developed in WDJ apps) we will have to move this record to another business object for further manipulation?
Hence due to huge number of record in BO, I would like to automate this activity by calling Jobs from WDJ apps and then Job will trigger the CAF web service which would create record into the BO object.
Please share your idea and let me if it can be achievable by java apis to trigger Jobs by WDJ apps & webservice by jobs?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • SOA and REST

    Hi
I start this thread to get an insight from the Architect community who is working on the Best-Built applications to know the direction related to adhering and adopting to SOA and REST based applications.
In this guidelines book, I see SOA as the framework to expose the business functionality as Enterprise Services, even it suggests that BAPIs and RFCs are to be encapsulated in webservices as far as possible. I like the guidelines to provide the application flexibility for the business logic so that I can use irrespective of the platforms, versions and so forth. Also it helps me in orchestrating these services in A2A, B2B and in the integration scenario where multiple systems and softwares are used.
Then came the new buzzword, I understand that many developers and Architects are considering REST as the go to Architecture for the future and SOA enterprise services may be outdated.
I do believe that REST and SOA webservices are different architectural styles, REST can be used more in sin point to point simple client server and point to point applications(synchronous) and mobile scenarios, so that the SOAP payload that exists in SOA can be avoided to improve the performance and data tranfer. But how much it can be used in the A2A, B2B integration scenarios where the critical business applicartions always rely on Asynchronous communication. SAP Bnaking and Utilities are heavily developed based on SOA based Enterprise Services. At the same time within SAP some people are still under the impression SOA is dead.
I am now confused, as an Architect I would like to follow these guidelines to suggest the customers and the developers I am working with that follow the guidelines. But, there is no mention about REST in this book except in one place. It would be nice to mention in this book about guidelines of using REST and SOA.
I am really interested in hearing from you all and the document owners as well.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh,
you raise a very good question, which keeps the BBA team quite busy. I might not be able to give a perfect answer right now, but stay tuned for our next BBA updates. We are working on new SAP NetWeaver Gateway and a Mobile chapter. I foresee that those new chapters will also trigger some minor updates on language in the existing Process/SOA chapter.
For last weeks TechEd in Las Vegas we already published a preview of the Gateway and Mobile chapter in the pdf version of our book. My personal opinion is that SOA comes with different implementation flavors, which are optimized for different use cases. Web Services and REST are both just different means of Service Orientation. As you said, web services is a good choice for A2A, B2B integration. On the other hand other more light weight integration for mobile but also other very light weight applications are a better use case for REST.
We need to be thorough on releasing our official SAP Guidelines and need to ask for your patients. As said stay tuned for more updates on Gateway, Mobile and Process/SOA.
    Best, Joerg

  • How is XI related to SOA

    Hi to all,
This is Pavan, now a days in job protals, some organisations mentioning SOA knowledge for XI Consultant positions, in job description.
What is SOA, and how SOA related to XI, can we learn individually SOA.  If so, help me.

    Hi,
Service-oriented architecture expresses a perspective of software architecture that defines the use of loosely coupled software services to support the requirements of the business processes and software users. In an SOA environment, resources on a network are made available as independent services that can be accessed without knowledge of their underlying platform implementation. A service-oriented architecture is not tied to a specific technology and may be implemented using a wide range of interoperability standards including RPC, DCOM, ORB or WSDL.
    Please refer these below links

    How SOA Releated to XI
You definitely can go ahead with SAP XI if you want to implement an SOA model in the enterprise.
SAP XI can expose the interfaces as webservices. As you rightly mentioned all the 3 listed methods of integrations are not based on SOA as they are proprietary adapters and they cannot expose their services to the enternal world, at least in no straight-forward ways
The advantages and disadvantages of SAP XI which I can list are
    Advantages:
    1. SOA based integration model.
    2. The proxy technology in XI gives the advantage of SOA based integration model in SAP integration scenarios. {which is otherwise is difficult (if not impossible) to achieve}
    3. Greater extensibility and all the other advantages featured in SOA
    4. The integration model of the enterprise will be the SAP recommended way.
    Disadvantages:
    1. Deployment and maintanence of the SAP XI infrastructure

  • Extraction in SOA scenario

    Hi,
I heard that unlike R/3 systems, the stanalone SAP systems like TMS systems which i based on SOA has Business Object levels instead of R/3 tables. If that is case, can somebody throw light on what is Business object levels are about ? And if there are no tables how can we craete Datasource to extract data into BW.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Rose.

    Hi Pradeep,
Here is the step by step procedure for data extraction.Follow it.
    1. Go to RSA1 tcode..(In that select Data Source tab in the left side window))
    2. select ur application component ...and rightclcik it and Create Data Source.
    3. in that you need to select master data or transactional data options..for example here i'm telling abt tansactional data..
    4. now specify your flat file name in your data source extraction tab..
    5. if you want you can specify the field names also in the fields..
    6.now activate it..
7.and again select that data source (which you created..) right clcik it and select Create Infopackage..
    9. here you need to schedule it...(this means.. your data will load into PSA)
    10. now goto Info Povider tab>Create a data target with required fields... select your Target> right clcik it.. and select CREATE TRANSFORMATIONS-->
    11. now give your DataSource name.. and souce system name...... and
12..and do the manual mapping.. otherwise.. .(if you gave info objects in he data source , then...atomatically it will map the fields.)
    13..activate it..
14 now again select your data target and select Create Data Tansfer Poces..
    15. Activate it.. and Execute it..
    Hope this helps

  • What is the difference between SOA and AIA

    Hi All,
Can you please let me know the need of SOA and AIA both ?
    Regards
    Kumar

SOA is an underlying backbone or an infrastructure that supports and provides for web services. AIA is another technology from Oracle which is based on SOA.
SOA offers different components such as BPEL, Mediator etc to build, test and publish web services. AIA is more of a framework which provides artifacts like the EBO, EBM which are standards based. These are part of a Foundation Pack. The artifacts can be used to build flows using BPEL and Mediator.
Oracle themselves have come up with pre-developed, tested BPEL/Mediator flows which execute a business scenatrio. These are called PIPs and one can install and integrate systems to execute the common industry business cases.

  • Is there any SAP standard CAF?

    Hi, CAF experts.
I'm wondering there is any CAF created by SAP, like ESS/MSS.
Does SAP make any CAF-based application?
Thanks in advance for all your answers.

    Hi
I am not sure if SAP has released entire business package based on CAF but there is one application called Life and Work Events within ESS which uses CAF.

  • What's the difference between AIA 3.0 and AIA FP 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)

    Hi, experts,
Have a question need your great help and clarification, you know we have Oracle AIA Foundation Pack 2.5 based on SOA 10.1.3.4 installation, the new release for SOA has been released on this version Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 (11.1.1.4.x) Released the other day, within this version, we have a Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) based on SOA11g.
    My questions are as below
    1) What's difference between AIA 3.0 and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)?
    2) We know, on the top of AIA 2.5, we have Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0) and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0), doesn't mean that the Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) has another nickname that is AIA3.0?
    3) Does anyone provide AIA 3.0 installation and implementation guide?
Appreciated if you could provide some suggestions or comments based on above question, thanks in advance!

    Please see the answers below...
#1 . AIA 3.0 is internal project name, AIA 11g R1 is an official release which is 11.1.1.2.0, then after two patch sets released they are 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.4.0
#2 hope the above answered your question.
#3 AIA 11g R1 x install and developer guides available on OTN.

  • Business Application Guru Max Dolgicer Speaks at Business Technology Summit

Max Dolgicer has more than 25 years of management and technical experience in development and support of Business applications, software products and systems internals. An internationally recognized expert, Max is Technical Director and principal at International System Group, (ISG) Inc a leading consulting firm that specializes in design, development and integration of large-scale distributed applications using leading edge Middleware technologies. Max is coming to Business Technology Sumit 2010 (www.btsummit.com) to speak about all things SOA, on 12 November at the NIHANS Convention Center in Bangalore. At the summit, Max covers the following sessions:
    * Managing the SOA Evolution: once a company has completed initial SOA projects, the number of deployed services increases such that the key question no longer is how to build services, but rather how to efficiently govern the development and operation of services on an enterprise scale. The focus of SOA shifts to reusability, securing how a growing number of clients access the services, and assuring that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, to name just a few issues. At this point companies run the danger that a "free for all" environment proliferates, and the benefits of SOA cannot be realized. The key is to introduce SOA governance before services spin out of control. Managing the evolution of SOA into the cloud with the correct governance is the next challenge. This keynote will address: typical categories of SOA projects, how SOA Maturity Models and governance relate, and how SOA governance needs to be extended when we move applications into the cloud
    * A ROI Calculator for SOA: let the Numbers Do the Talking: there are many pro and very few con arguments from an engineering perspective that make us believe that SOA is a superior approach for most application development and integration projects. However, nowadays we typically won't get away with brilliant technical arguments to justify the transition to SOA. In most cases we will have to convince the CFO that there is a positive bottom line result. This presentation outlines a ROI model for application development based on service reusability in a SOA. It describes how the cost effect of reuse can be calculated during the development and the maintenance cycle of a portfolio of service oriented business applications. The model is based on metrics that have been widely accepted throughout the IT industry. The model will then be illustrated by a project where multiple business applications have been developed within a SOA that employs a foundation of reusable services. This presentation will show an overview of a project that is used as an example, a popular ROI model that is the basis for the ROI calculation, and the application of the model to determine concrete monetary savings.
    * Defining a SOA Roadmap Based on SOA Maturity Model: once a company has completed initial SOA projects, the number of deployed services increases and the key question no longer is how to build services, but rather how to efficiently manage the development and operation of services on an enterprise scale. What is needed is a concise roadmap that guides the evolution of SOA such that IT can deliver the right value at the right time to the business. This roadmap has to address multiple dimensions of IT: architecture, development processes, applications, information, etc. This presentation will outline a model against which the degree of service oriented maturity of an organization can be assessed, and a process (i.e. the roadmap) for assessing the current and desired degree of service maturity of an organization and for developing a plan for how to get to the target state. This presentation will show: what SOA Maturity Models exist today?, walkthrough of the levels and key elements of each level, developing a custom SOA Roadmap and project example for mapping a Maturity Model to a Roadmap.
    * Service Oriented Integration (SOI): doing Integration the Right Way: IT managers have been under increasing pressure to migrate a portfolio of independent “stovepipe” applications to an integrated set of business services that can be aligned with changing business requirements and support new business processes faster and with reduced cost. Today, corporations have to choose from a number of integration products (e.g. Enterprise Service Buses) that have quite different capabilities, never mind different architectures and standards. This seminar starts with a comparison of SOA and event based architectures and then outlines the key issues and guidelines that architects should consider when defining an integration architecture based on services. The key point of the seminar is a case study that illustrates how SOA concepts have been applied in a real project. It explains the key architectural and design decisions that produced an integration architecture and a set of services that were reused beyond one particular project. This presentation will show: drivers for Service Oriented Integration (SOI), comparing SOA to Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), how to evolve from Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) to SOA/EDA to SOI, and applying SOI in a project example.

  • BPEL's NotifyUserOfChange with Content Services

We have a problem getting data from Collaboration Suite's Content Services. We are using BPEL 10.1.2. We've used the built in jdev project NotifyUserOfChange. We are able to assign the Workflow so that each time a Conten Services file is updated in certain folders an email is generated with the folder name and a hyperlink to the file's location.
What we would like to include in the email is the username of the person who uploaded or edited the file. In Content Services under document properties, we see the values Created By and Last Modified By, but are unable to figure out how to have BPEL get those specific values in our email.

    Hi,
Assuming you are using the latest Content Services patch (10.1.2.3.x), you should be able to see in the incoming queue message a parameter named :-
    IFS_ECM_WORKFLOW_OWNER
The value of this parameter is the user whom triggered the workflow.
You could create a simple assign\copy rule using an xpath expression to extract this.
For Content DB, we are soon releasing some new sample workflows based on SOA suite that should simplify things a fair bit.
