Calculate difference between every other time record

Here's what I have going on.  Users are keeping track of time they work on a project.  Data to be used in contained in two columns.  In the first column they enter "start" or "stop".  In the second column they input the date and time.  So, output would look something like this:
start     1/1/2011 3:30pm
stop     1/1/2011 3:35pm
start     1/2/2011 1:00pm
stop     1/2/2011 1:30pm
start     1/2/2011 2:00pm
stop     1/2/2011 2:18pm
I need to be able to calculate the difference between the start and stop time and then create a running total of those time.  Running total not an issue but what can I do to calculate the time difference between start and stop?  Been awhile since I used Crystal (about 5 years) so I've forgotten way too much.  Another issue that I'm running into is that sometimes the users forget to enter the start or stop, so I might have two stops in a row (with one missing the start time) or two starts in a row.  I'm not completely sure how I want to handle those yet.  I may just throw those records out but not certain how I'll do that yet.
Sorry if this is a bit basic.  Trying to relearn Crystal again - oh, and it's crystal reports 10.

Here are a couple of formulas that should help you out.
This will calc the time diff between sequential start and end times
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global DateTimeVar x := IF {TableName.Type} = "start" THEN {TableName.TimeStamp} ELSE x;
Local DateTimeVar y := {TableName.TimeStamp};
Local NumberVar z:= IF {TableName.Type} = "start" THEN 0 ELSE DateDiff("n", x, y);
And this one will provide a manual running total
WhilePrintingRecords;
Global DateTimeVar x := IF {TableName.Type} = "start" THEN {TableName.TimeStamp} ELSE x;
Local DateTimeVar y := {TableName.TimeStamp};
Global NumberVar z:= z + IF {TableName.Type} = "start" THEN 0 ELSE DateDiff("n", x, y);
Note that you'll want to sort  the records by the "TimeStamp"

Jason

    hi,
    try the following function
    CALL FUNCTION 'CCU_TIMESTAMP_DIFFERENCE'
          EXPORTING
               timestamp1 = timestamp1
               timestamp2 = timestamp2
          IMPORTING
               difference = diff
          EXCEPTIONS
               OTHERS     = 1.
    the above function gives the difference in seconds...
    try the following  code to set the resolution to milliseconds..
    SET RUN TIME CLOCK RESOLUTION LOW
    check the thread for details:
    SET RUN TIME CLOCK RESOLUTION?

  • Need Help to calculate difference between times

    Hello everyone,
    I have two fields which just stores the time in 24 hour format ex: 08:00 and 20:00 now I want to calculate difference between the two times
    Kindle help me
    Thanks for your help
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Are your fields of varchar2 datatype or...?
    Is 08:00 the start time or 20:00?
    Date arithmetic is pretty simple in Oracle if you use the right datatype.
    See:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/ASKTOM.download_file?p_file=6551242712657900129
    Assuming you are storing strings:
    SQL> -- generating sample data:
    SQL> with t as (
      2  select '08:00' btime, '20:00' etime from dual
      3  )
      4  --
      5  -- actual query:
      6  --
      7  select numtodsinterval(to_date(etime, 'hh24:mi') - to_date(btime, 'hh24:mi'), 'day') nti
      8  ,      (to_date(etime, 'hh24:mi') - to_date(btime, 'hh24:mi'))*24 dt
      9  from   t;
    NTI                                                                                 DT
    +000000000 12:00:00.000000000                                                       12

  • Fails to find HD on boot up every other time

    Starting in mid-November, shortly after replacing the battery and upgrading to 10.4.3, my ibook would not find the HD during boot up every other time I went to use it. I tried booting from the installation disc 10.4, resetting, PRAM, PMU, NVRAM, etc. but nothing short of putting the computer away for the rest of the day helped. The next day it boots up normally. If it goes to sleep, it starts the SBBOD and freezes. If I shut it down, it fails to boot up, only displaying the file folder with the alternating Mac face/question mark. The only solution is to just let it sit.
    This computer is within the range of serial numbers for the logic board recall, but did not display any symptoms within the three years, and now that is over. I don't understand the regularity with which it intermittently works and fails without anything being done to it.
    BTW, I have reinstalled 10.4, repaired permissions, done one update at a time, repairing permissions in between and it worked fine for two days and has again failed to find the HD on boot up. I have the same software on my Power PC (the same age) and have no trouble whatsoever. I'm typing this from that computer.

    This is what I get everytime I run repair disk permissions.

  • Hi everybody, I am in Turkey on a long assignment, I need help solving a big problem on my macbook pro os 10.9.3. The other week my wife visited some website and now we have a redirect virus of some sort, and every other time when we click

    Hi everybody, I am in Turkey on a long assignment, I need help solving a big problem on my macbook pro os 10.9.3. The other week my wife visited some website and now we have a redirect virus of some sort, and every other time when we click on a link or anywhere on the page we are redirected to this casino web site, https://casino.7bets10.com/tr/?from=hy9yKXD43jSC-8Oxbw4femNd7ZgqdRLk-dHJpeG9uaXR l. Its the same whether on Chrome or Safari. Does anyone have a solution, thank you!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    Paste into the window of another application.
    Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Deploying Windows Service Fails Every Other Time

    I'm using Release Management 2013 to deploy a Windows service.  I go through the steps listed below to deploy it.  It fails on the first step (Delete Service) every other time.  When I run it again, it works.  It seems like it's saying
    it failed, but is somehow actually succeeding.  After it fails, I don't see the service in the Services list anymore.  Then when I run the deployment again, it succeeds.
    I have found that if I manually stop the service before deploying again, it will always succeed.  There doesn't seem to be a good way of doing that in Release Management though, since the Stop Service action will error out if the service doesn't exist.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    ==============
    Delete Service
    Create Folder
    XCopy Site Deployment (deploys from drop folder)
    Copy Config Files from Drop folder (copies config files folder from drop folder)
    Delete File(s) or Folder (deletes existing config)
    Rename File or Folder (renames appropriate copied config to the name of the previously deleted config file)
    Delete File(s) or Folder (deletes other config files)
    Delete File(s) or Folder (deletes config folder)
    Create Service
    Start Service

    Hi,
    You may have solved this by now, but for the record, I had the exact same issue. The problem is in this section of ManageWindowsServices.ps1
    elseif ($Action -eq "delete")
    #If the service exists, we first stop it to avoid "Marked for deletion" problems
    $service = Get-Service -Name $ServiceName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    if ($service -ne $null)
    #Stop the service
    $status = & "sc.exe" "$ServerName" stop "$ServiceName"
    "Stop status : $status"
    $status = & "sc.exe" "$ServerName" $Action "$ServiceName"
    "Delete status : $status"
    #Ensure the service was deleted successfully
    $service = Get-Service -Name $ServiceName -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
    if ($service -ne $null)
    $(throw "The deletion of the service failed.")
    else
    $exitCode = 0
    and is due to the fact that the second Get-Service call does actually return the service, even though it's after the call to delete it. Presumably this is some kind of race condition, where the call to delete the service returns before it's finished all
    it's work.
    In any case, the solution I went for was to rewrite this section as:
    elseif ($Action -eq "delete")
    [int]$returnCode = 0
    #If the service exists, we first stop it to avoid "Marked for deletion" problems
    $service = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Service -Filter "Name='$ServiceName'"
    if ($service -ne $null)
    #Stop the service
    $status = & "sc.exe" "$ServerName" stop "$ServiceName"
    "Stop status : $status"
    "Deleting Service..."
    $returnCode = $service.delete().ReturnValue
    "Return code was : $returnCode"
    if ($returnCode -ne 0)
    $(throw "The deletion of the service failed: Return code was $returnCode")
    #Ensure the service was deleted successfully
    $service = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Service -Filter "Name='$ServiceName'"
    if ($service -ne $null)
    $(throw "The deletion of the service failed.")
    else
    $exitCode = 0
    The above code works in all cases that I've run it for. You can either edit the existing ManageWindowsServices script, or simply create a new one. I opted for the latter.
    Note: This is my first attempt at using Powershell, so there may well be a better way of doing the above.

  • Cme 2 cme voip calls work every other time

    have 2 cme's with checkpoint in between.
    cme A & cme B
    ip phone on cme a call cue on cme b works every time
    ip phone on cme a calls ip phone on cme b it works every other time consistantly. One time ringback next time busy.
    phones in both locations are on different subnet from cue.
    i've tried to disable ip cef to no avail and still getting problem.
    debugs give disconnect cause code as network not available.
    any ideas as to why it would work one time and not the next?
    some sort of timer / timeout?
    thanks,
    paul.

    You've probably mapped that key to a key command or controller assignment.
    If you know what you are doing, then check the key commands and controller assignments window for unwanted MIDI mappings.
    If you are not sure, then back up and move your Logic preference files and restart Logic to see if it goes away.
    If it still happens, option click on File -> New to create a new song and try that. It it works OK in that, you may have something in your environment that's interpreting specific note values and doing something with them (or filtering them).

  • How do I find the difference between every OCI releases version in SRM ?

    Hi guys,
    Ithere any document about the detailed difference between every OCI (open catalog interface) release versions in SRM ?
    So far, I only found some documents about OCI release 2.0,3.0,4.0, but no detailed telling what's the difference between them.

    Hi,
    [SAP Supplier Relationship Management - SAP SRM Open Catalog Interface (B2B-OCI) [original link is broken]|SAP Supplier Relationship Management - SAP SRM Open Catalog Interface (B2B-OCI) [original link is broken]]
    I always give the latest OCI 4.0 specification to suppliers who implements the OCI enabled catalog. If supplier implements the OCI 4.0, old version of OCI works.

  • Difference between Avg OLAP time and Avg Frontend Time

    Good morning all!
    What is the difference between Avg OLAP time and Avg Frontend Time?
    I thought OLAP time would be included in Frontend time, but the numbers are not matching up?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
    Front-End time is the Renderring time of the object at the front-end. Basically when ever a BI Application or BI application object is executed it spends time at various levels like at Data Manager, OLAP, Planning, Front-end. Can check the stat's in view RSDDSTAT_OLAP.
    When the query is taking long time so u need to the time at ST03 Tcode/else RSDDSTAT table .Here u can find the DB time , OLAP time, Front end time If the DB time is more than 30% of time of total time then you got for Compressin , aggregates, indexes partitioning.
    The capture of query runtime statistics is done differently in 3.5 and in BI 7.0
    However, the OLAP time and DB times are always captured as two different things.
    In 3.5 refer to fields QTIMEDB and QTIMEOLAP. They are two separate measurements. In 7.0, they are TIMEREAD and TIMEOLAP in rsddstat_dm and rsddstat_olap tables.

  • Every other time I type cmd k for keyboard in Logic Pro X, the track that is selected is muted.

    The title kind of says it all. Every other time that I press the shortcut for onscreen keys, the selected track is muted. By that I mean if I press cmd+k it brings up the keyboard unmuted, then press cmd+k to get rid of it and it's still fine, but the next time I press cmd+k to bring the keyboard back up, the track is muted.
    Only noticed this today, and don't know what I did. Please Help!

    Figured it out! On the menu bar I clicked Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Learn Assignment for "Mute", which meant that I Mute was the last command that I had clicked on. In the (No Zone) section, there was a Learned Assignment, and I simply clicked delete and it disappeared. Now everything is just fine.

  • KDE: Laptop only sleeps when closing lid every other time

    Hello all,
    I'm running KDE 4.14.1 on an older Toshiba Satellite laptop. In the KDE System Settings, I've told it to sleep when closing the lid and this works - but strangely only every other time I close the lid. It will work once, then I open the lid and it powers up just fine. Then I close it again and the screen just turns off but the laptop stays fully powered.
    Any ideas what might be going on? It consistently only sleeps every other time when I close the lid (the other times it just turns the screen off).

    Take a look at /etc/systemd/logind.conf
    Is systemd also trying to manage this?

  • Mac book pro doesn't wake up every other time with external monitor

    It is related to 'Put display to sleep' as I managed to find out. When you have 'put display to sleep' turned on, every other time screen doest turn back on, nor external nor internal, sometimes internal lits up and there is just blue screen, not desktop. You can't do anything except turning notebook off. No mouse, no keyboard, nothing, there is no mouse pointer either. I didn't experiment without external monitor, though, maybe it hangs up too.
    This thing did cost me $2800. Can it atleast work as it supposed too?
    I set it to 'never sleep', 'never sleep display', but frankly, it *****. When I need to go out, I just turn monitor off.
    Is apple doing anything to resolve that issue? Do they read these forums?
