Calculate Hardware requirement.

Hi,
Can any one please show me the procedure to calculate CPU and Memory requirement for oracle application 12i or 11i. It will be used by arround 20 users and all the module will be used.
I have gone through the documentation, it says to calculate like the below
• Number of concurrent users and their usage profiles
• Number of concurrent manager processes and the types of jobs that they are running
• Load for activities other than Oracle Applications
• Size of the database
• Desired response time
Don't exactly know how to interpret this information.
Please let me know what is minimum requirement?

Have a look at the following links/notes:

  • How to determine the hardware requirements based on the Services' payload

    hello,Guys
i am wondering if i can calculate the hardware requirements based on the services' payload ?
what factors should i consider when to determine the hardware requirements?
is there any documents related to my questions? ;)
    Thanks
    Regards

Payload size is not the only factor while determining size of the system (h/w). You need to consider number of services, nature of services (sync/async), payload size, frequency of messages (load), peak load value, security constraints, performance requirements etc..
You may contact your local Oracle Sales Representative/ Oracle Support to get help in determining size of the system. They will provide you a sizing questionarre and on the basis of that they may suggest sizing as well (Oracle has an internal tool for proposing sizing)

  • Hardware requirement for R12 up-grade

    Dear All,
We are going to upgrade from EBS 11.5.9 to R12 on Linux environment. Currently we are working on hardware requirement for R12.
1-How can we calculate sizing requirement in context of R12.
    2-CPU capacity including RAM required
Or any other best procedure, we can follow to recommend new hardware.
    Best regards,

  • Hardware requirement for CE7.1 for the development purpose

    Experts,
How to calculate the hardware requirement for using CE7.1 for the development purpose? Do you have some parameters or guidelines for it?
We will be using CE7.1 for the development of EP contents,  Web dynpro, Web services and Guided procedures.
We need to calculate minimum hardware requirement for this purpose, but could not find the authorised document from SAP.
I searched in the SDN. It is available for NetWeaver 7.0 but not for CE7.1.
Any hints will be highly appreciated.

  • Minimum hardware requirement for Report server with 4 engines ??

    Hello all ,
Can someone please tell what is the minimun Hardware requirement to be able to run a Oracle 91 AS with report server having 4 engines ??
and where I can find this kind of documentation.
We have a Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE running on a machine with under 1 ghz power and around 300 mb RAM
, but the report server seems to keep crashing ..
    Can anyone pls advice
    Thanks

    Hi,
For calculating the minimum hardware requirements, you may need to look at various factors:
    1. No of reports requests that need to be processed per second
    2. Whether all these requests are synchronous or asynchronous
    3. Response time required
    4. Type of reports - large amounts of data, large no of images, etc
    5. How much caching you are using
    6. No of queries in your report
    7. Simple / complex layout of the report
    and so on.
So just the information of 4 engines may not be sufficient for trying to calculate the hardware requirements. One useful reference point for you may be the Oracle9i Reports Scalability whitepaper:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/index.html
It lists the number of users supported on some pre-defined hardware configurations, and the average response time for the reports server.
You might also want to take a look at the paper on "Tuning Oracle Reports":
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=SAP&col=ALC&submit=Search
However, it is also possible that your Reports Server is crashing due to some other problem (not the hardware configuration).
By the way, your RAM seems to be too low for Oracle9iAS installation. See the installation guide for minimum hardware requirements.

  • Flash Media Server VOD hardware requirements per client

Hi I was wondering what the hardware requirements are for VOD
use of FMS 3 per client.
What I want to do is to be able to calculate what kind of
machines would be required to cater an x amount of clients at the
same time. For example CPU usage per user for a 500 Kbps video is
40 MHz, memory 100MB etc. or if there is a formula. If I have that
then I can also calculate the cost per view etc.
If you have a server with a Gbps connection to a network you
could cater for 2000 users but then if the memory usage is 100MB
per user that would not be possible etc.
Any kind of relative information (even server suggestions)
    would be greatly appreciated.

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.3 Hardware Requirement and best practice

    Hello,
Could anyone help me find the Minimum Hardware Requirement for the Oracle EPM 11.1.2.3 on the Windows 2008R2 Server? What's best practice to get the optimum performance after the default configuration i.e. modify or look for the entries that need to be modified based on the hardware resource (CPU and RAM) and number of users accessing the Hyperion reports/files.
    Thanks,
    Yash

Why would you want to know the minimum requirements, surely it would be best to have optimal server specs, the nearest you are going to get is contained in the standard deployment guide - About Standard Deployment
Saying that it is not possibly to provide stats based on nothing, you would really need to undertake a technical design review/workshop as there many topics to cover before coming up with server information.
    Cheers

  • Questions on the Hardware requirement mention in the 12c installation guide

    Hello experts,
I have a confusion on the Hardware requirements mentioned in the 12c installation guide where they mentioned as below.
    RAM with ADP1, JVMD2 8 GB 12 GB 20 GB
1 ADP Manager is Application Dependency and Performance
    2 JVMD is JVM Diagnostics
Question 1: what does this RAM with ADP or JVMD mean. is it just the additional RAM space required in the server or does is that special requirement ??
Oracle WebLogic Server JVM Heap 1.7 GB 4 GB 8 GB
    Size
Question 2: What is this JVM Heap size ? how do we configure this in the server ??
Thanks in Advance for your Help.

    Hi,
#1: It means if you also want to install ADP and JVMD, the total RAM required is a small (e.g. < 1000 targets), medium (e.g. > 1000 targets and < 10000 targets), large EM deployment (e.g. > 10000 targets) is 8 GB, 12 GB, 20 GB, respectively. That is the memory requirement for an OMS host.
#2: The heap size for the OMS java process. You can adjust the heap size by changing the -Xmx<heapsize> (see an example below) in the following file:
    <middleware_home>/gc_inst/user_projects/domains/GCDomain/bin/startEMServer.sh
An example of OMS heap size setting of 2048 MB:
    if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" != "EMGC_ADMINSERVER" ] ; then
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xms256m -Xmx1740m -XX:MaxPermSize=768M -XX:-DoEscapeAnalysis -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing"
    if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" = "Sun" ] ; then
    if [ "${PRODUCTION_MODE}" = "" ] ; then
    USER_MEM_ARGS="-Xms256m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=768M -XX:-DoEscapeAnalysis -XX:+UseCodeCacheFlushing -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -XX:CompileThreshold=8000 -XX:PermSize=128m"

The requirements depend on the operating system and the database used for the installation.
Go to http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> Release 04 -> Installation -> SAP Web AS -> SAP Web AS 6.40 SR1 and Related Documentation -> Choose your database (Ex: Oracle ) -> Planning and Preparation -> Select SAP Web AS ABAP for Windows.
Look at Page 37, minimum RAM is 1 GB (because XI is Unicode), ABAP system 25GB.
You should check the same for Web AS Java also.
    one more small thought...
You also need to find the how the end user will access your system. In case an end user access outside of the LAN (say via WAN or dial-up) using https, it will have additional requirements for your hardware as you will need compression enabled for improved response time for WAN. Adding compression or SSL may add additional hardware if you based your sizing based on LAN.
And also One easy approach is after you define your test case, run some load test on your QA/Staging system. Use the load test data and find out the hardware requirements based on load test. If your requirement is larger than the staging system, you may have to take a staged approach. In that case you roll-out the system to a certain number of users and monitor the system and plan for additional users based on the monitored results.
Also for RAM memory, HDD size you can check this document:

  • Hardware Requirements to get Satisfactory Resolution and Reconstruction from a Kinect V2 Scan

I am new to the Kinect for Windows V,2 (KFW2) Sensor, and as a prospective hobbyist
I am finding it difficult to determine the ”best for me” hardware requirements to acquire a satisfactory resolution and reconstruction from a scan to use in a 3D printer.
Please excuse and correct any mistaken impressions I expose in the following overview of what I have learned so far.
It seems that the measure of success to achieve my goal is to achieve 30 Frames per Second (fps) using applications such as Fusion Explorer and 3DBuilder while making a acan.
After watching many video demos I have determined that the stated minimum system requirements published by Microsoft are focused on just getting the KFW2 sensor to actually “work” and have a mesh constructed regardless of quality. Beautiful models have been
build using these applications, but in many of them I have heard both explicit and implicit comments that the computer used was much more capable than the stated minimum. In fact, in one such video the Microsoft presenter said words to the effect that “…we
have some high-end computers here but you need more than that to get good results in real time...” In many cases a Surface Pro 3 was somewhere in the scene. Well I am using a Surface Pro 3 i7, and I do not get satisfactory results.
So my question is, “Has anyone achieved a frame rate of 30 fps with Fusion Explorer and/or 3D builder? If so would you mind sharing the make and model of the computer you used, or the specs of the components you used (CPU, GPU, USB 3.0 controller, etc.)
if you built your own custom computer.
    Thanks in advance
    jperry

    Hi JPerry,
    I have a laptop with a 4GB 680m and a intel i7-3820qm (USB 3.0 eXtensible) and get a solid 30 fps fusion which takes around 60% GPU load with a 640 vox/m 256x256x512 grid. FPS drops to 17-20 when I increase the numbers to 768 vox/m, 512x512x768 grid.
    On my Surface Pro 3 256GB i5-4300U I can get a decent 20-25 fps with 384 vox/min 128x128x128.
Fusion is very memory intensive, hence the frame rate dependency on volume size. I think in the original Fusion paper they mention that each voxel element takes up 32bits of memory so for 512x512x512 it takes up 512MB of GPU memory.
I would say anything with 1.5GB of GPU memory, later than a (desktop) nvidia GTX 660 (or AMD equivalent) should get you a solid 30 fps unless you use huge volumes, then I would consider using some of the fusion alternatives such as Voxel Hashing or KinFu
    Large Scale.
    http://www.graphics.stanford.edu/~niessner/niessner2013hashing.html
    http://pointclouds.org/documentation/tutorials/using_kinfu_large_scale.php
Although you may have to do some work getting those working with the v2.

  • Correct Hardware Requirment for Educational Purpose

    Goal:
Buy a new hardware for SharePoint development.
    Purpose:
Increase my knowledgein SharePoint development. Today. I'm a junior SharePoint developer. I have experience in dot.net deveopment but not in SharePoint development.
    Problem:
    1.
Is Hardware requirements—database requirement below enough?
    2.
Which software requirements I should use?
     - Single server with built-in database,
     - Server farm with a single server in the farm or
     - Server farm with multiple servers in the farm
for a educational purpose. Each of these has different hardware requirement. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485.aspx)
    Information:
I have consider buying a new desktop och laptop computer with following criteria.
    laptop with hardware requirement:
    16 GB RAM
    Intel processor i7
    Desktop with hardware:
    24 GB RAM
    Intel processor i7
I gonna install windows 2012, SQL server 2012, SharePoint 2013 in VM Player's environment.

For development purposes, if you leave out SharePoint Search, you can get away with as little as 10GB RAM allocated to the SharePoint + SQL VM (given you restrict SQL to 1 or 2GB memory).
If you need Search functional, then go no lower than 16GB for a SharePoint + SQL VM.
Also make sure you get a separate disk for the SharePoint + SQL VM, SSD if you can swing it, otherwise, in a laptop, a 7200 RPM drive minimum.
Don't forget that you also need a Domain Controller in your environment running Active Directory. This should not be the same VM as the SharePoint server, but rather a separate VM (for many reasons). This VM can be small, with as little as 512MB RAM allocated
    to it.

The reason is: Because a motorcycle has no doors.
And this is as a valid answer as any other to your question. You can run Oracle 10g XE on a notebook. You can run Oracle 10g Enterprise on a 64 CPU HP Superdome. You can run Oracle 10g RAC on a 60 blade servers, each with 8 dual-core CPUs and 64GB RAM.
So what is the best configuration? That depends entirely on WHAT you are planning to do using the Oracle RDBMS product. And it should be a concern that your approach is thinking that Oracle RDBMS is like Microsoft Excel and you can quickly and easily determine am optimal h/w and RAM config for it. Oracle RDBMS is not a desktop product like Excel. You do not fit h/w to it. You fit h/w to your requirements - as you would fit your choice of Oracle products to use to your requirements.
