Calculating Hierarchy Nodes At Reporting

When using a hierarchy for reporting, is there a way to create a node that is the result of a calculation of values in other nodes?  The hierarchy is built from the 0ACCOUNT characteristic.  There are accounts that are grouped into lots of nodes to support P&L reporting.  For example, there is a node called Gross Sales, Net Sales, Std direct cost etc.  I want to be able to create/show a 'node' called 'Margin %' that would be the result of a calculation based on other node values (ex. Margin / Net Sales * 1000.)  This needs to be a BEx query.
Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks SM for the update.  Could you provide some details on #2 (Use the particular hierarchy node. Hide it.)  Is this done in query designer or at query run time?  It appears that #3 is done in the designer however, I do not understand how the keyfigure is then displayed at the node level.  Thanks

  • Calculations on hierarchy nodes

    Hi,
We are developing Divisional P&L Report. We have created hierarchy in R/3 system for this and also loaded successfully in BW.
Now the problem is while designing the query, we have to do calcuation on Hierarchy nodes.
    For e.g.
    Sales
    - W (Works)
    - PD (Purchase items)
    - Esc (Escallation)
    Adjusted Turnover
    - Change in stock
Now I want to do calculation for parent nodes  (Sales + Adjusted Turnover). please guide me for the same.

    Hi Harpalsinh,
My FSV is in the Row and Key figures are in the coloumn.
Please tell me procedure or options for how to do addition of two parent nodes in query designer. I also have to apply allocation rules later on for the division.
    For. e.g.
I have 1 parent node, below that i have 7 child nodes. Out of this I need to do addition of 2 child nodes and display it below these childs.Could you please suggest me how can i achieve this?
Also i am not able to see the grouping of hierarchy in Query designer please suggest on the same also.

  • Calculation in hierarchy nodes

    BW Experts,
We have a situation where an account can appear in an account hierarchy twice (i.e. an account is assigned to 2 nodes in the hierarchy).  When we run the BEx report, the subtotals for the 2 nodes which contain the account are calculated correctly, but the parent node of the 2 subtotal nodes only includes the value of the account once, and not twice.  For example,  assume that we have 2 accounts with the following amounts:
    Account  Amount
    A10         100
    A20         200
and a hierarchy structure with 2 subtotal nodes, one containing A10 and one containing A10 and A20.  So the hierarchy looks like this:
    Total
       Subtotal 1
          A10
       Subtotal 2
          A10
          A20
In BEx, the report displays the following result:
    Total                      300
       Subtotal 1           100
          A10                 100
       Subtotal 2           300
          A10                 100
          A20                 200
So BEx is not adding the A10 amount in to the Total node twice, which would give an answer of 400 instead of 300.
I did read in the BW Documentation that in cases like this, BEx recognizes that there is a duplicate entry in the hierarchy and so removes it from the totalling.  But in our case we do not want the amount to be removed, we want it to be counted twice.
I have tried to use the link node function, but it returns the same result.
Does anyone know how to include a leaf in multiple nodes in a hierarchy and have BEx include the key figure amount in the all higher level nodes, even if it means doubling, tripling, etc. of the key figure amount?
Thanks very much for any help.

    Hi Alberto,
Would you please post the resolution of the issue with the hierarchy node calculation? I too have a simillar requirement. It would be helpful if you share the solution for tha issue that you had.

  • Hierarchy node text shows short text instead of medium text in WebI report

    Hi,
We have created a simple Hierarchy suing Tx RSH1.
    US -> North Carolina
              South Carolinakey
             Rest of America
Please note "North Carolina" is the medium text for the node while the short text which can contain max of 10 chars is "North Caro"
We have used and activated the hierarchy within the BEx query. Text display with "Medium Text" has been enabled for the InfoObject. The display on the BW report is as expected showing the medium text for all levels and all modes.
When a universe is built on the query and a WebI report is created based on the universe everything works fine other than than the Hierarchy text for different levels and nodes. Instead of showing the Medium text, the short text is getting display.
We took out the text object from the Universe in the Universe designer and went ahead with the key and medium text, but that did not help.
Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround for this issue?
We are on XI 3.1 SP3.
    Rgds

    Hi,
I am working on BO XI 3.1 SP2.
I have displayed the medium text for the hierarchy nodes as:
In my universe three detail objects(key, medium name and long name) gets generated for each hierarchy node.
I have copied the definition of L01 Medium name (detail object) in the L01 dimension object. similarly for other hierarchy nodes.
    i.e. L02, L03.. etc.
Now the master data which have been loaded for the medium name will be displayed.

  • Display of Hierarchy Nodes as Medium Text in Web Report

    Hello everyone,
Does anybody know how to display the hierarchy nodes as medium text instead of short text (default) in web report?
I know it is possible to change the display setting directly (by right clicking on hierarchy node > properties) from the web report.
However, I would love to know if there is any other way to change the settings such as through Query designer or Hierarchy maintenance in SAP GUI so that users do not need to change the display settings every time they view the web report.
    Your help is kindly appreciated.

Thank you Shabar for you quick reply.
What if a Hierarchy is created under an InfoObject? How can I change the Text view of each name of the Hierarchy nodes?
In Query Designer, I tried to change the Text View to Long but it only affects the text of the InfoObject but not the Hierarchy nodes.
I tried the 2nd suggestion too.  I only can find the BEx description for the InfoObject but not the Hierarchy nodes.
It would be great if anyone could tell me how to do so.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear All,
    1. We have created the BW-Query with Hierarchy node Variable .
    2. On the above query we have preapred Crystal Report.
    3. We have published the Crystal Report using BW Publisher ( Through Content Administrator in BW).
    4. Followed the steps as below link.

    Problem:
When we are accessing the Crystal Report in the InfoView BW-Hierarchy node variable is not appearing in the value help as a tree structure ( It is appearing as a list ).
    Please suggest me the solution.

Did you wanted to jump from Node to Node ? I guess you cannot do that....did you try ?

  • Hierarchy node value in the report

    Hi all,
I have a 0cost center for which master data hierarchy has been loaded.
This 0costcenter has 4 hierarchy nodes and under each node there are few cost centers.
Say these nodes are zones then under each zone there are few costcenters.
Now my question is in the reporting I want to see the costcenters Zonal wise.
Say if I want to see only the zone 1 and the rest three zones should not get visible or displayed  then how  could I do that?.
How can I restrict the other User viewing my zone and the cost centers and their values?
I want a report based on zones and that to with authorization?
    Thx

    Hi Simon,
Yes as you said I create a hierarchy node variables for zone 1 ,zone2, zone3, and zone4 and as per the requirement I can call the variable to display the data zone wise.
When it comes for Users then how could I restrict the variables according to the Users?
As you said how to fill the node with authorization?
How to use standard authorizations and where can I find them?
And how can I fill them at run time?
how to use personalisation to default in per user the value of the node and then not allow the variable to be user selected, how to do this ?
    plz explain
    Thx

  • Hierarchy node in query rows not showing values in report

    Hi sdn
I'm taking hierarchy node on rows and some plan and actual values on columns but i'm unable to get values in the report for only plan values
How did I reconcile the values whether that value is available in hierarchy or corresponding value's for plan data is available in the cube, pls give me clues

    Hi,
Could you please share the steps you have taken to fix the problem?
We do have a similar problem and for some reason the newly added hierarchy node for 0Profit_ctr is not showing up in the variable selection screen F4 (input selection for query execution). However we can see this node when we display that hierarchy in RSA1. I did try applying the changes recommened by Jerome but unfortunately it didn't work.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • BW-Hierarchy node variable in Crystal Report

    Hi crystal gurus,
I am creating a report on top of BW-Query Using SAP toolbar. We are having a Hierarchy node variable for WBS Element in our Bw-Query.
Now that hierarchy node variable is not behaving properly in crystal reports.
When I execute Query at BW side it Provides me with proper result, say for example if i execute the query for a WBS element "X" and that element consists of other elements inside it like A, B, C etc then at BW side it gives me proper data considering all the WBS elements but in Crystal reports the Data returned is just for the Specified WBS element, i.e it return me data specific to WBS element "X" only.
Any Ideas why this is happening and how to resolve this?
    Any help will be Appreciated.
    Thanks & regards
    Neeraj

    Hi Debi,
thank you very much for your reply, but i am afraid that you may have misunderstood my Question.
Actually I am using a hierarchy node variable, and as usual that hierarchy node has certain level. so when i m executing the report in CR say for node value/level  L1 then it provides me data specific for the node L1 only but logically it should provide me with data of node L1 and all other nodes below L1& that is not happening in my case. while whenever i m executing the same report with same values at BW Side it provides me proper result I.E. it provides me data for node L1 and all other nodes below it.
Hope this makes my Ques clear.
    Thanks & Regards
    Neeraj

  • How to filter hierarchy node in BEX query designer

    Dear experts
We are working on FI balance sheet with hierarchy infoobject 0GLACCEXT. Example of our balance sheet is as follow:
    Parent Node A = 20
         Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
             Leaf A11 = 5
                 Leaf A12 = 5
    Parent Node B = 20
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 10
                   Leaf B11 = 5
                   Leaf B12 = 5
    We require only:
        Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
        Leaf B12 = 5
So I filter those out in BEX restriction;  however, after we examine the report in tcode RSRT, "Sub-parent Node A1" is not shown in BEX Report, and the result is as follow:
    Parent Node B = 5
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 5
                 Leaf B12 = 5
Are there solutions for us to show merely A1 and B12 ?

    Hi Chu
    Try the following steps.
    Initial Output
In this example I will restrict the query for only displaying Node 8603 and leaf 9000
Proceed to restrict the Characteristic. Please be aware of the difference between hierarchy nodes and leaf characteristic values. Also set the Hierarchy display properties to expand up to level 1.
    Execute the query again:
Please be aware that users will still be able to expand node 8603 and see the lower level nodes/leaf. In order to restrict users from doing this set up users authorizations.
    Regards,
    Carlos
