Calculating required diskspace for iMovie 09 projects

Can someone tell me how a good rule of thumb for calculating the relationship between iMovie project size and needed disk space for creating the final movie product? Thanks in advance

you can take an event and "consolidate events" and that (should) allow you to move the events from that project to the other harddrive (Back-up first!). For new projects, when you import the video, import it to the new HD. I'm not sure that the project can be stored on that HD, needs to be where the iMovie application is i think, BUT, the information in the project is minimal compared to the video footage, so you will free up LOTs of space on main HD by not storing the video footage there.

  • Requirement Specification for a SharePoint Project

I need to learn about developing in SharePoint and do you guys have a requirement specification that I can use it to create a customized SP solution?
It is difficult to be creative in order to create a requirement specification for a home made SP project. The purpose is to improve my skills in SharePoint development.

    Hi
    Sakura Data ,
SharePoint 2013 will support this classic model well-known to all SharePoint developers. SharePoint Solutions are still considered a good option, and in some cases the only option, for customizing SharePoint.
SharePoint Solutions can be developed using Visual Studio 2012, which includes a number of supported templates. They can integrate with external applications using Business Connectivity Services (BCS), Web
Services, or a custom Service Application. There are two types of SharePoint Solutions: Farm Solutions and Sandboxed Solutions.
For developing SharePoint Solutions, you can refer to the article:

  • Import .mov for iMovie 2 project

    Hi all-
I have some .MOV movies that I want to use in an iMovie 2 project, but I noticed that it won't import them. Is there any way to do this? Thanks

Thanks for the reply and sorry it took me so long to get back. QT Pro is $30, and iMovie 6 comes with iLife '06, which is $80. Any way that you know of to get version 4 of iMovie? TY

  • Required Fonts for iMovie 11?

I work in graphic design so usually only have a minimal set of fonts activated on my computer, so that I can activate what I need when working on customer jobs and then de-activate them later--keeps me from having hundreds of fonts active.
However, this means that when I use iMovie, I'm not sure but what some of the fonts used in the various themes are inactive. Was wondering if anyone knows of a list of fonts that iMovie uses?
    Thanks in advance.

Then you talk about "these 34 iMove fonts.
What I've found is that while there are 34 fonts in the application package, only 9 of them seem to be user accessible.
    I've now edited my answer.
So it appears that any fonts that iMovie uses for its default themes and trailers are within the application itself. So your practice of moving system fonts in and out shouldn't be a problem for iMovie.

  • How much % of coding required  ideally for an XI project?

    Hi,
    1) I would like to know, how much % of codinng part will be there for an XI project?
    2)duration for XI implementation.
ofocurse it depends on project to project, but ideally i would like to know..
    Thanks for your reply,
    cg

    HI,
Look for the thread Effort estimation to integrate SAP & Non-SAP systems for the overall implementation duration.
    For the code development effort,
    mostly connected to
    1. Mapping (XSLT java, XSLT ABAP)
    2. RFC development
    3. Third Party applications involving SCRIPTS (incase of FILE etc.,)
Add at least 2 to 4 weeks to the overall time.
One point to say at this time is that XI development doesn't only mean Java coding but ABAP too. Above thread I tried posting the overall time frame
to know and process with ABAP as well.
If you are looking for any specific RFC or BAPIC calls, please let us know and probably will be able to give you if I have it in my repositoty.
    Thanks,
    Srini.

  • 5400 or 7200 HD for iMovie/Livetype Projects?

I'm planning on purchasing the new macbook. I've read numerous topics on users who are upgrading their hard drives to a 7200 instead of the stock 5400 by way of 3rd party vendors. I use iMovie consistently for projects as well as Livetype. Would I notice a huge improvement using the 7200 or would there be a minimal difference?
    Thanks...Greg

My personal recommendation is to get an EXTERNAL firewire drive. (7200RPM, of course)
iMovie will probably bennefit from a higher RPM drive. Not sure exactly how MUCH of a different it will be.
The differences in drive speed are more significant if you have low ram. Max out the ram first, then upgrade the drive to 7200RPM. I saw a huge improvement in overall system responsiveness when I upgraded my iBook G4 and my MacMini G4 to 7200RPM drives.

  • Requirements Gathering for a P2V project

Does anyone have an example of the kinds of requirements that need to be gathered from a client in preparation for a large scale P2V migration during the requirements gathering phase?  For example,
R101:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that have less than 50% average CPU utilization
R102:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that are currently functioning as web servers
What are some other potential requirements that pertain to a P2V migration plan?

Thanks for your reply.  Capacity Planner can gather only technical data from the systems, but not requirements from the people themselves.

Can there be any external hard disks - if so How is/are it/they formatted ? Must be Mac OS Extended (hfs) if used for Video.
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most but not for VIDEO.
What this means in Your situation is above me.
    • free space on internal boot hard disk? How much ?
    Video codec
    • streamingDV, AIC etc. (not .avi, .mp4, .m4v, .wmv etc as they are containers not codecs)
    Pictures
    • in what format ? .jpg, .bmp, .tif, else ?
    Audio
    • from where/what format ? iTunes, .avi, .mp3, .aiff, else ?
    The "com.apple.iMovie.plist" file
Many users has not observed that there are TWO libraries.
    • Library - at root level
    • Library - in user/account folder - THIS IS THE ONE to look into
    from Luke Burns
I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

You need more free space on your hard drive.

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....
Where do Your material come from
    • Camera
    • External hard disk
    • USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?

I am trying to send an iMovie project to iDVD and I keep getting the following error msg.  "Unable to prepare subject for publishing:  The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-43)"

    Check out this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1421870
It may mean you either your Event or your Project. Have you moved any of the files in the Finder by any chance? That error may come up if you moved anything outside of iMovie. Do you get an error message when you choose Share>Export to iMovie (choose medium size) and save it to the Desktop? If you can export it to the desktop, you can pull that file into iDVD separately and still make it work.

  • HT6012 I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.  What do I do?

I had an older version of Mac OS, I upgraded to Snow leopard and then OSx Lion, most of my software has been upgraded except for Imovie.  Now I can't get my projects to upload or share to iDVD or iTunes.   Also to compound the situation everytime I attempt to share to iDVD or iTunes, iMovie quits unexpectedly.    What do I do?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

  • Exporting iMovie/iDVD project for PC friend to edit

I recently posted a question about how to take an iMovie/iDVD project and export the files so that a PC user could take the project and edit on his PC using a video editor. It was suggested that I share the iMovie project to QuickTime and then burn on to a CD. This sounded good at first but then I did some research and saw that sharing to QuickTime means that the quality will be lost (saving to CD setting) and will only be something like 320 x 240. Plus, it takes forever. Even longer if I set it to full quality but by that point, the file wouldn't fit on a CD anyway.
I did see that I could save the movie back to a mini DV tape and then give that to the PC person so that they could just bring it into their computer via their camcorder. But what if that person doesn't have a digital camcorder?
For the project in question, I've been asked to take some VHS tapes and convert them to digital. I've done so using a digital converter. They want a DVD of what was on the tapes, which I've done, but they also want the files so that they can later edit to their tastes on their own time on their PC and then later create a DVD. Given the above, what would be the best way to do this? Isn't there something in the movie project files that I can dump to disk?

    a) consider the usage of an ext. harddrive...
    b) in iM's "share" dialog, you find the option "selected clips only"; so, select a few clips you like to export, check that box, done... you can "split" your clips at any point to create segments of approbiate size by hitting apple-t at any position in timeline..
    c) share/Quicktime/expert options/click "share"/ offers you a dropdown menu, where you can choose the "avi" container...
(your User Interface is for sure english!)
you can click options, and choose the dv codec (which is your project's native video codec)... no loss of quality, and probably compatible for your friend..
    d) a dataDVD-r fits ~20min of dv video... 4 disks?
    e) using Disk Utility, make sure, you use a PC-compatible disk format....
    f) Plan B) export your project back to tape, give your friend the miniDV...

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use iMovie. There's a iMovie Support Community where everybody uses iMovie. You should also post this question there.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/imovie

  • What are the system requirements for iMovie 11

On the product support page for iMovie, the link to the system requirements is for iLife '09, not '11 so I'm not sure if that information is correct.
Basically I have Mac OS 10.6.8 and I want to upgrade to iMovie '11, but I do not want to update the OS as a requirement.

One more thing. If you Mac cannot be upgraded to Mountain Lion, there is another option. You can go on Amazon or eBay and look for the iLife 11 Retail Package, which includes iMovie 11, along with all the other iLife Apps. You can install this on 10.6.3 and above. The downside is you can only upgrade it to iMovie 9.0.4 (I think). To upgrade to 9.0.8, you need at least Lion.

here in ol' Europe, school boards use chalk and are not smart …
h264.mp4 is actually the most common 'standard' (4000 video 'standards' aaaaand counting)
mp4 is indeed universal (Mac, Windows, Linux), and since YouTube, the h264 codec has a good installed base .....
you can bump into probs only when it comes to sheer amount of data:
for instance cheap 'digital frames' are sortof over-whelmed, if you try to playback 720/30p in high quality.
I'm not familiar with 21st cent devices as SmartBoards ... again, it could happen, you have to reduce resolution/fps/bit-rate to avoid clutter&stutter in the video.
I'm using such encoded files successfully on Playstation3, WD HD TV or flatscreenTVs with integrated usb-connection (via stick), etc
    imho, it should work welll .............. < fingers-crossed >

  • A required codec isn't available.for iMovie

I have been unable to load AVI clips from a storage usb stick to Imovie any ideas?

The free app MPEG Streamclip can be downloaded from the developer's site here:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
MPEG Streamclip is widely used in the Mac universe, and is also available for Windows. It should be able to convert your AVI files to a format suitable for iMovie, as AVI is one of Streamclip's supported import formats.
To convert, drag the file onto MPEG Streamclip's open window (or from the menu select File > Open Files). Now choose File > Export to QuickTime. From the window that opens, for Compression choose Apple Intermediate Codec (that's iMovie's preferred editing format). Leave other options as they are. Finally, click on Make Movie (bottom right of the window), then give the export a name and location to save to (say, Desktop).
The exported file can now be imported to an Event in iMovie (I'm assuming that you are using iMovie '08, '09 or '11).
