Calculating...Until Full?????

I just came up to turn on my iBook and the charging light is orange. I leave it plugged in all the time so I know it didn't need to charge. I checked the charging status and it says "Calculating...Until Full" but the charge percent is 100%. I unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in. When I plugged it back in it said it was "Calculating...Until Full" again then after about 15 seconds it went green and said charged, but now it's back to saying "Calculating...Until Full". Can anyone let me know what's going on with it? Should I unplug it and let the battery run down and see if that fixes the problem?

This happens to me sometimes, too. It's nothing to worry about. In a few minutes, the light will go back to green and you'll be back to full charge again.

  • Calculating until full - forever it seems

    Hi there,
I looked through the questions and did not see this one, so my apologies if i am asking something someone has already asked.
About an hour ago I turned on my iBook G4 and it told me the battery needed to charge (light went amber) it had been off, but plugged in.
It was not being used while unplugged from the power charger so I wasn't sure why the battery needed to charge. As well, it said it needed 15 minutes to charge, but has been set on "Calculating until Full" now for about 40 minutes. The light is still amber.
This seems strange to me? I haven't had this happen before. Any ideas what I can do?
    Thanks

You might try resetting the PMU - power management unit.

  • My iphone 4s automatically getting turned off (blank black screen) and not getting started until full battery discharge, after updating to ios 8.0.1

My iphone 4s automatically getting turned off (blank black screen) and not getting started until full battery discharge. Even on long pressing power button - screen doesn't showing anything - not even "needs charging logo".
This is happening only since I have updated to new ios version (ios 8.1).
Is there anyone facing similar issue?? Any suggestion?!?

  • Time until full keeps increasing on charge.

I've just replaced my dying Macbook battery with a 3rd party Anker battery. It came half charged and seems to work fine but when I started charging it, the charge% goes up slowly but the Time until Full increases as well. So before it was at 50-something% and "1:30 until full". Now it's at 86% and "2:01" until full.
Do I need to worry? Calibrate? Is the battery a dud?
    Thanks!

  • 20:00 until full charge?

I bought a battery from eBay about a month ago and it has worked great. Today, I was using my MacBook and it said 20:00 until full charge and was stuck at 68-69% charge according to the MacBook. I have taken out the battery and reinstalled it and have let it die and charged it again until the charger LED was green. Still, it says 20:00 until full. Is this a power adapter problem or a battery problem? Thanks!
It runs off the battery when I unplug the power adapter and gains charge, but something is wrong.

Could you please tell me how you fixed this issue?
I am having the exact same problem (20:00 until full charge), but my battery is stuck at 7%, which means if I unplug my macbook will die out quicker...

  • TC Keeps backing up until full; then crashes

Myself and my flatmate share the same TCapsule; however whilst he can successfully perform both an initial 80Gb backup via ethernet and then subsequent hourly backups wirelessly - when i try to do so my initial 120Gb backup runs continuously until the 500Gb TC is full - and then falls over.
    *Actions to date*
I have reformated the TC twice now with the same result via ethernet backup.
I tried backing up once based upon wireless alone - same result.
    I have reinstalled Airport Utility

500Gb Timecapsule, 2 months old as an Apple provided replacement for one that crashed and was within my AppleCare protection plan.
Both of us operate on 10.6.6 with Intel based MacBookPros
Both initially backed up via Ethernet cable, then left TC to operate wirelessly.
It used to work for me, but has failed to do so on the old TCapsule and the new, therefore i suspect it might be to do with my MAC.
I haven't tried re-installing Snow Leapord 10.6 from scratch as yet - but that seems a bit extreme?

    Most likely, yes.
I haven't tried re-installing Snow Leapord 10.6 from scratch as yet - but that seems a bit extreme?
It may come to that, but not just yet.
Start by verifying your internal HD, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
Then do a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 there.
Then try again (via Ethernet if possible).

  • P2035 - Windows 2000 - holds in buffer until full page prints

We recently installed the P2035 printers onto computers using Windows 2000.  It will print - but it will "hold" the print job until it has a full page to print.  It will time out and eventually print (even a section of a page) after about 3 minutes.  We want it to print immediately even if it is just a small paragraph, etc.  Is there a setting somewhere that I can change so that it doesn't wait to print small print jobs?

Thanks xaver, but I've already tried stormng-20070827133046.zip and it remains the same :(
About all driver ? Oh, in fact, I'll try to see if the XP ones work and if not I'll have a not-fully working Win 2K, but it will be enough for me to test my programs... I hope, at least, I'll be able to do display driver work !
Well, seeing I don't succeed using Intel/Toshiba drivers and nLite, I'm trying at this time to go through another way, installing Win2K in a VMware, then forcing install of the Toshiba AHCI driver, then doing a TrueImage of this and restauring in the Toshiba ! I'll see...
However, if someone has an idea, don't hesitate.
EDIT : I'm now at the step to try to force the Store Manager driver from Toshiba (the one given for this model under XP), launching iata_cd.exe and after some second I see a message saying that this OS (Windows 2000) is not supported by this driver... So, from now, I clearly know why this driver failed when I gone through the nLite-customized Win2K CD install directly on the Satellite :-(
So, this change the game : does it exist a Windows 2000 compatible driver for the Satellite L300-16M's AHCI Controller ??? This is the question !
If you have the answer, very thanks to tell me, of course...

  • Group membership for users is not reflected at the client until full reboot

Ok, so I am new to this:
So I created two groups on the server g1 and g2. Created two server users u1 and u1. I have one client with three accounts: System Admin, u1 and u1.
    On the server:
    g1 has one member u1
    g2 has one member u2
When I swap the membership on the server using Server pref. or Workgroup manager, the users on the client still have access to their original group.
I tried logging everyone out of the client. I does not work.
The only way is to reboot the client completely. However, sometimes when I change the membership it does get reflected on the client. Any ideas?

    Hi snetiger,
Have you installed the "Battery Update" from the Apple site? Has the battery been replaced through the battery program? Check the Magsafe plug. Is it melting? Do you have access to another charger to eliminate a bad charger? Does the orange charge light coming on or the green power adapter mode light? Have you unplugged the charger from the wall for about 60 secs. (if no lights, this resets charger) What are your energy saver preferences set to?
I have been dealing with this battery issue across three different machines. I think it is a time formatting issue with the software. Keep an eye on the clock. Most of my worst issues have always occurs when the battery is "Calculating Until Full" this can go on for a while unless I unplug the Magsafe or open energy saver. Just opening it not having to change any settings.

  • MacBook Battery Charge Problem - With a Twist

I got a white MacBook in October to replace an ailing iBook. It ran fine for almost five months, with a slight twist that I've been reticent to come on here and ask about.
Problem #1: The battery charging had what I'd call frustrating behavior. The computer would not charge the battery unless I practically ran the battery down to nothing. Usually it wouldn't start charging until 20-30% charge. My old iBook would start charging at about 85%, so I just figured it was some failsafe that Apple was building in to the new system to improve long-term battery life. This frustration continued until today when...
Problem #2: I went to a coffee shop to do some work. I'd forgotten the night before that I hadn't let my battery run down enough to charge it, so the battery was at 35%. Okfine. I'll run it for a few minutes and then plug it in. I wait. 30%, 25%, 20% and whenever I plug it in to test, it won't charge. I run it all the way down to the point where the system automatically goes to sleep. The battery won't charge. I've reset all the things that can be reset, I've reseated the battery, I've turned it off and back on, I let it sleep for an extra amount of time to squeeze that extra bit out of the battery. No beans. The thing refuses to charge.
In system info, the battery information shows that it's completely dead (remaining power at zero across the board, not the negative numbers I've seen reported in other threads). The power information recognizes that it's a battery with 0% charge, but only says "Calculating until full..." Given that it won't charge, it's going to be calculating for a very long time. The battery flashes one light when I press the button.
I'm going to take it in to an authorized service whatsit on Monday, but in the meantime, what is it likely to be? I've seen answers ranging from bad battery to faulty motherboard. Is there any step I've overlooked to try before resorting to a trip to the store?
    Thanks in advance.
MacBook Core Duo White 2.0GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Yeah, if it says your battery is only at 18% of it's charge after just a few months, then there is definitely something wrong with it. They will probably give you a replacement battery, considering it is still under warranty. My iBook (2 Years Old) is down to 29% of it's original charge capacity, so I am in need of a new one myself :\
2 Years is what Apple says is the average life span of a laptop battery.

  • Power cuts out / charging seems strange.

    Hi.
(Originally in the battery forum, but I am posting here on the basis that more people read it here)
    The background:
1.25 factory spec Pb. It went away for a screen and keyboard replacement. When it came back the documentation said that they had replaced the heatsink as well. I didn't realize anything was wrong with the previous one, but I assume that they are not going to replace a part unless there was a problem, so fair enough. Pb came back and I installed Tiger. It was a clean install and went well. No problems. Very pleased with the results. No problems with the computer at all. However, I have noticed something that is giving cause to concern.
The issue: I use the computer whilst charging, i.e. the ring goes green and I then continue to use it whilst the power is still on. However after a couple of hours, the light on the cable (green/amber ring) goes out despite everything being connected i.e the computer starts to run on the battery. I unplug the cable from the computer. Plug it back in, still no light. I turn the power off at the wall, and then turn it on (without unplugging the cable from the computer), and it works/ starts to charge as normal.
My battery is fine (holds a charge well/ less than 100 cycles). The computer is no hotter than normal/ is not doing anthing that it has not done for two years now. The AC adapter is in good condition/ does not get any hotter than it has every done. There is no buzzing.
Any ideas? Is it the inverter / AC adapter? Is it something more serious? The fact that once I kill the power to the AC adapter then turn it on and it works suggests it is the block on the power cord (the white brick with the apple on it).
Should also add, that Apple Hardware test (extended) came back fine. Also reset PRAM and PMU. As of yet there has been no repeat of the problem.
However, today there was a development, hence the new posting. Computer was displaying about 8% charge left. I switched everything off and plugged in my charger. The ring went green about 45 minutes later. I thought this was a bit strange, so I started the machine up. On startup the meter was displaying 54%. When I clicked on the battery icon in the status bar it was saying calculating until full (It clearly isn't full at 54%). I unplugged the cable plugged it back in and it when amber and is currently charging.
Something is wrong here. Could the inverter have anything to do with it or is it my power brick. Either way, I am getting quite concerned now. Any help would be appreciated.

The PMU reset was the right thing to do for the original problem. Just to help you rule out some possibilities on the new issue, and to help you avoid having to send your machine back in to the shop:
I'm tempted to think that it's the adapter, as well. They aren't the most robust accessory. I had to replace mine a few months ago. If you are able to get hold of a newish adapter, use it and see if the problem recurs.
Check your battery's capacity with this freeware app: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27425
Also, consider moving the file, com.apple.menuextra.battery.plist (in ~Library/Preferences) to your Desktop, then log out and back in again or restart.

  • Battery And Energy Settings

From what I am reading here a 99% charge is normal after charging fully overnight? I've had my system for over two weeks and only let it once drain completely. Sometimes I fully charge it when it's between 6-20%. In the begining it would show a complete 100% charge. Can anyone confirm?
Also, I noticed that anytime after I reboot my system, the lock icon on the Energy settings is open even though I locked it before the shut down. I do have my energy settings set for custom, would that cause that to happen?

    Hi MrBlonde,
"When I booted it up that is when it said 99%. Still normal? "
This depends on your definition of normal.
With OS 10.4 came the charger/battery issues. One of the causes for failures that I had noticed (G4s, MBs and MBPs) and reported quite frequently (numerous replacements) was that the battery would remain charging for hours or days while at 99% "Calculating Until Full" melting the chargers and overcharging the battery. The only thing that would prevent this was to open and close Energy Saver (no changes) or unplug and re-plug to get it to acknowledge it was fully charged. It appears that the battery update has made it so the charger switches to power-mode when it is at 99% for a few minutes.
My opinion is that what you are experiencing is now "normal", however, not correct.
In System Preferences > Security > Require a password to unlock each secure system preference. Check this and see what happens. If the pref still opens in an unlocked state report it to [email protected]
