Calculator, is it possible within dps?

hi all, im quite new to dps and i have been asked by one of my clients if i can iclude calculations?
Basically they want to enter a figure into a field, that figure will (for example) be doubled and then minus 20%. Then depending on what the aswer is it will reveal one of 3 solutions. For example if the answer was say between 0-50 it would reveal to suggest product a, between 51-100 would suggest product b etc etc...
Im guessing this is not possible from within indesign but would it be possible as an imported html file?
As always any advice would be much appreciated.

Yepp, you sure can. We havent done a calculator but a diagnostic tool. based on the answers that you have it will bring you a different results. In the background on the code all questions had a number attaches so sum of 'Yes' answers and 'No' answers will give a result.
Here is the app. There are 2 diagostic tools in Stack 4 and 5. Once you answer all the questions you will see a button appear "Show my outcome".

Accessing iPad camera from within DPS application

I have a potential client who asked me if it were possible to access the camera from within a DPS application. I have no further information at this point regarding what the reason for it will be but thought I'd shoot the question out anyway. Apparently it is possible in iOS 6 to access the camera in mobile Safari but I don't know if that is of any help.

Create Registerform and a search possibility within the registered data

Hi,
what I am trying to figure out with Muse is to create a simple register form. And having a search engine within the site to search for several registered persons.
For example:
I am planning on building a site where people can register themselves through a form. Somehow all the registered people are saved in a database. And through a keyword all the people with that same keyword are shown in a result box.
Is something like this possible with muse using several widgets?

Are parallel stages possible within Flex applications?

I'm interested in exploring Flex, but I don't want to spend
unnecessary time on it. I'm wondering if it is possible to have
multiple "layers" (say a foreground, mid-ground, and background)
within a Flex application. In my particular case, I'd like to have
some type of animated Flash running in the "background" of the
application that is always visible. However, when the user
interacts with this application, is it possible to make visible
Flex components that exist in the "foreground" or "mid-ground"
appear "above" it? Or, to say, they come become visible in front of
the "background layer" when the user clicks a button (i.e. a user
clicks a button in the flash movie and a Flex form, perhaps for a
login or something, appears before them in the "foreground").

Sure you could use states to show or hide controls in a view,
you can use viewstacks to switch between views and you can set
transparency using the alpha property.

Drop Shadow possible within a paragraph style?

I have a table and on a certain row I have a style that requires a dropdown. I have made a paragraph style that has everything perfect but I can't find the drop shadow option there. Is it possible to include drop shadow effects as a style?

I've found this frustrating too.
The way I get around it is as follows:
1: Create a Text Frame and type the text to be shadowed.
2: Select the Text Frame and choose Window > Effects.
3: Expand the Object list and select just the text in the list.
4: Click the fx dropdown and apply any effects you want to associate with the text.
5: Feel free to save this as an Object Style to use again.
Now the the part that will have old-school QuarkXpressers squirming...
6: Select the whole text frame, choose Edit > Cut.
7: ... and paste it into another text frame as an Anchored Object.
8: You can then create a Paragraph Style to control the position/placement of the Anchored object.
9: ... and even add some Text Wrap and offset to your Object Style.
I know it is a filthy workaround, but it is the only way I can find to achieve the required result.
Please, Adobe, can we have effect styles that can be applied as part of Paragraph Styles. I mean, there's a precedent : Character styles as part of Paragraph Styles, Table Styles containing Cell Styles that contain Paragraph Styles that could ostensibly contain Nested Styles.....

Muse Contact Forms within DPS

I would like to test a contact form I created in Adobe Muse for use in a DPS Folio.
Is there a way for me to test a form once I update to the Cloud?

I just figured it out. I put a comma between the email addresses and it worked.

Make pages or content printable within dps?

Is there a way to allow users to print certain pages/content from the magazine, i.e recipe cards or templates?

Is there a way to embed a file into a mailto function within DPS?

I'd like to attach a pdf or an image when someone clicks a mailto button or link.
Could someone provide an example of one that works?

The only workaround we've found so far is to use a service like formassembly.com or wufoo.com to create a local HTML form. Here's Wufoo's help document about this:

We couldn't find anyone that would quickly and easily allow us to natively attach a document to an e-mail so we use formassembly to create a local HTML form for each document we want to share. A button is used to open the local HTML file in the in-app browser. After they enter their e-mail address and submit the form a response e-mail is sent to them that includes a link for downloading the file. We host the PDF files we're sharing on box.com and putting "?dl=1" after the web address of the file triggers an automatic download of the file to their local machine and opens the file in Acrobat (or whatever application is set as the default for PDFs). We chose formassembly because you only pay for the responses without having to pay a monthly fee. We found e-mailing a link to be acceptable because it's only one click/tap for them to download and view the file, and because of the large file size of the PDFs we are sharing.

Is XML+XSL possible within a PDF?

After much searching all I could find were articles about converting xml+xsl INTO a pdf file. I'm wondering if I could embed XML+XSL INSIDE a pdf file and have it render. Does Reader support XSL processing? I'm new to pdf generation in general so any tips or advice would be useful and there is very little on the interwebs about XSL inside a pdf.

After looking at http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/opensource/index.html I was under the impression that Reader used the Sablotron engine for some reason. What adobe products use Sablotron and XSL then?

Menuicons not possible within Mustang-Trayicon-implementation ?

The example on http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2SE/Desktop/mustang/systemtray/#moreinfo displays two menuitems with icons.
I think that screenshot was not taken from the current mustang-version because I do not find a way to place an icon into a menuitem.
The examples only show the general way to implement a trayicon which does not use the shown functionality.
The class java.awt.MenuItem does not know anything about icons.
Is there any way to create a trayicon with icons with current mustang-version ?

I worked on this subject many days.
Screenshot are probably from JDIC (JDesktop Integration Components , +2MB to your project) or it is JPopupMenu with no keyboard focus (so it does not disappear when user click somewhere else).
You can show manually JPopupMenu, and make it above taskbar (!) ... but I could not find how to get keyboard input / focus.

There you can also get (and run) my simple example to check if your GUI hangs when you pop up tray icon menu.

How do I create a kiosk experience with my DPS app?

I am trying to have a built in timer to then activate the navto and reset features to go to the cover page of my app. Is it possible within DPS or can I add an HTML widget?

You'd have to do that in HTML, there's no way to do it with native DPS overlays. Note too that this will not make a reliable kiosk experience, and you are likely to run into other issues where your readers are able to get out of your content. DPS really isn't suited to building a kiosk app.

Using cmd within the process flow. possible?

I am trying to combine all the flat files in a directory in my process flow by executing
cmd> C:\folder *.log copy new.log
is this possible within the owb?

The external table isnt dynamically connected to the flat file defined, so does it mean that I would have to re-deploy it again, everytime the content of the flat-file get updated?
if so, is there a way for me to deploy the external table within the process flow?

External purchase order release date is not calculated

In our live system, when creating external purchase orders from tasks within work orders, system does not calculate the release date of purchase order as explained in the documentation (planned delivery date - planned delivery time). Strangely, when the calculated release date does not lie within the current year release date is assigned to the creation date. When calculated release date lies within the same year, correct release date is assigned to the PO.
Althogh our development and productive systems have exactly the same patch level, we do not experience this behaviour on our development system. This makes me think that the problem is due to system-dependent setting or some master data such as factory calendar.
How could we correct the problem? Thanks in advance.

We don't have a release strategy for PReq.
On the Preq Item -> quantites/ dates tab there are 3 dates: delivery date, request date and release date. In MRP process, the release date is calculated by the sytem based on planned delivery time and GR processing time. The PReq should be changeable by MRP up to the release date. On the release date the system should transfer PReq to SRM and mark the PReqs
as u2018firmedu2019 u2013 not changeable. This is a SAP standard process. Worked well with EPRTRANS.
BADI ME_REQ_SOURCING_CUST imethod CHECK_EXTERNAL_SOURCE is already implemented. The BADI controls what requirements to send to SRM.
We tried putting a check for Release date like: if release date is = < than system date , send PReq to SRM:
if is_req_item-FRGDT le sy-datum.
cv_ext_sourcing = cl_mmpur_constants=>yes.
It does stop new PReqs with release date in future from coming to SRM. However, the BADI is not retriggered for the same PReq when the release date reached.
Can you please guide me through the implementation steps? If it possible to retrigger the PI message via a scheduled process?

Is it possible to invoke a variable procedure name?

Is it possible - within a trigger or elsewhere - to invoke a stored procedure by using a variable containing the name of the procedure?
I would like to be able to use a different procedure depending upon the value in a column of the table to which a row is inserted.
If this is not possible, is there an elegant way to allow for the inclusion of as-yet-unknown record types, which I was hoping to be able to handle simply by adding a new procedure, with the new record type suffixed to its core name. Each such variation would perform some type-specific calculation before invoking a common procedure to do the standard processing.
I feel it ought to be possible but can find no example anywhere in the documentation of a procedure being invoked by anything other than a literal name.

Using iPad2 Camera in DPS publication

We are investigating the feasibility of creating an HTML stack that would appear mid-issue, that would allow users to take a picture with their camera and insert in to the layout. Was wondering if this is possible within the DPS environment?

You can use the camera inside DPS publications on devices running iOS 6 or later. This is a built-in feature of HTML in iOS6. Earlier versions of the OS don't have support for this.
To access the camera use something like this:
<input type=file accept="video/*"> (for video files)
<input type=file accept="image/*"> (for pictures)
There isn't any way to get at the GPS in a DPS publication currently.
